I have to come back here another time! I'm told that this restaurant used to be smaller and that they've expanded. The bahn cuon here is really good -- the rice noodle is so fresh and soft and chewy. This was my favorite and the variety was so appreciated as well! It's also surprisingly filling and I would definitely get this next time I'm here. The fish sauce was also delicious as well. (this is in reference to the dish Banh Cuon Tay Ho Dac Biet) Bahn Beo were good sizes and nicely steamed. I wish there was a bit more sauce because I was running out at the end. Toppings are appropriately sized as well Personal take, I didn't really enjoy the fried pork rind topping as much and would have liked more shrimp, but once again, personal preference. I promise... I'm not a hater. I'm really just telling it how it is. The quality has gone down over the years, while the prices keep going up. But I'll let y'all be the judge. Let's get into it. B1. Bánh Cuốn Tây Hô Đặc Biệt The only solid item on this combination plate was the ground pork floursheet. Soft texture, flavorful pork, and a good balance with the black fungus. The yam tempura and mung bean tempura, however, were pretty below average. No crunch, little to no flavor, and they tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. The ground shrimp floursheet was disappointing. There was barely any shrimp and mostly just flour sheet. I was sitting there wondering, "Where's the shrimp?!" The fermented pork roll was cool. It was definitely fermented because it had a strong, sour pork aftertaste. Not bad, though. T2. Cha Giờ Thịt Nướng This vermicelli bowl was not it. The pork had the classic lemongrass aftertaste, but it was very light. The texture was also dry, and the portion was pretty sad. Love Tay Ho and this location! I ordered a catering order over the phone with their location a week or so in advance, and they were easily able to take my order and it was fresh/ready the day of pick-up. I ordered their egg rolls and banh beo for catering which came with lots of fresh herbs/lettuce, fish sauce, and other toppings. Pricing was very affordable as well for the quality. I have also frequently gone into their store to enjoy a nice plate of com tam or bun thit nuong which has always been great. Came by for lunch the other day and it was a decent experience. Parking is available in the private strip mall lot. Dining is available in the original indoor dining room or in the newly expanded dining room next door. Air conditioning was on the day of my dining although it was quite weak...making it slightly uncomfortable. Started off with the steamed rice roll with grilled bbq pork. The rolls were gigantic as well as quite price at ~$18 a dish. Moved on to the vermicelli squres with the grilled beef that was served on a large plate to wrap table side. This was my go-to Vietnamese spot before I stopped eating meat. The V8. Banh Cuon Tay Ho Chay (Vegetarian Tay Ho Combination) is a really good option for non-meat eaters. There are lots of different items included, so you can figure out which you like best. The tofu is kind of bland, but the vegetarian sauce included is amazing, I could drink it. A small detail I liked was the cabbage being very finely shredded -- that way the cabbage didn't take over the soup and softened up nicely. We also really enjoyed the pork chop rice plate too. I can get slightly better and slightly cheaper Vietnamese food in South San Jose but it is not in Santa Clara, which is closer to where I usually am. My favorite dish is their Rice dish with BBQ pork. I almost always order this dish. I also hear their Bun Bo Hue is excellent and actually has blood, which is what someone intimately familiar with this noodle soup would expect. Service has been solid over the years, and it looks like they have actually expanded into the physical space that was adjacent to the right side of their original space. Parking is shared in this good sized strip mall location on El Camino, so this should not be a challenge regardless of when you choose to dine here. read more

This is one of my favorite Vietnamese spots and I'm very fortunate to live within walking distance. Service is always fast and the food comes out fresh. I've had their pho and it's excellent, but I think the star of their menu is their grilled pork. It's so tender and flavorful and it pairs perfectly with rice, or even better, in a vermicelli bowl with their egg rolls. The combination of the savory pork, fresh veggies, and their home made fish sauce with chili pasta is unmatched.
