Now, let's start off by saying that I believe we are going to have to make a return visit to really get an accurate perception of this place. We went on the Saturday after 4th of July and I believe that business may have been significantly lessened as a result. We are looking for a new place to "get a drink" since our current fav is closing down in a month or so. This was our first time here. It was a Saturday night, and the place was dead, but see above. We sat at the bar. My wife and I specifically enjoy sour beers, so we noticed that there were a few on their tap list and decided to give it a go...plus, it is on the "Beer Trail" and could be checked off the list. We did not try any food since we had just eaten with our kids (cookout, post July 4th). They only had about 5 of their own beers on tap, but did have an extensive variety of guest taps. I was shocked at how many options there were for such a small location. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful...they were very willing to give us sample cups to taste the different beers before we committed to a full size drink. Without a doubt, whatever style of beer you prefer, you are sure to be able to find something you enjoy...and probably multiple selections. We will be back to give it another go. One note, we had stopped by last week, but left bc there was a band, the room was full, and they were charging a cover per head since the band was there. I'm not paying a cover to listen to music. If you want to bring in bands, make sure you can pay them without making your customers eat the charge. It is a small seating area, probably only about 50 people could fit. Wow. Seems like folks want to hate on this place--please look at more current reviews before deciding. Stopped in tonight during a mini Tour de Dillsburg. 9 house beers on tap, 40 other drafts. RyePA was solid as was the CaliCORNicatiin Cream Ale Fairly crowded, which I interpret as a good sign about the food (which I didn't try). Bar area was a bit too bright for my taste but that's a personal preference. Definitely worth a try. read more

Our first visit here and it was a nice experience. Monday pizza specials! $5, $6 & $7 pizza and toppings $1 each. They have their own brews plus many others. 40 available I believe it was. BEER REVIEW: Stopped in on Friday to retry the beers on a tip that they'd gotten better. The first time I tried their beers a year ago they were all unimpressive, not worth trying again. I've heard they made a change at head brewer and it shows after trying 5 of the 7 they had on tap. The Peach Cobbler Ale was surprisingly good and the IPA/DIPA were both solid. With 41 beers on tap (7 of their own) they have a very good and diverse selection of craft (and some macro) beers. The food is hit and miss, pretty simple, don't expect much. Best bet is to stick with the beer. read more

Found this place on the way home from a Memorial Day weekend in Antietam. It is kind of tucked away right off of the main road. We really enjoyed our time here. The logo and the name are classic. The beer was refreshing. I had the apricot wheat. The pizza was really solid too. The crust was thin and floppy, which I prefer. The prices were very good as well. Everything was pretty cheap. It was also fun talking to Bob. He gave us a hard time for our Philly teams, but that's what it's all about. I'd love to go back if I'm ever around again, especially when they have some music going. read more

Tried this place for the first time since I went to see the entertainment. Atmosphere is really nice but a lot of improvements are needed. The handicapped spaces and where they have the ramp that door was locked and when we left there was no lighting. Had the fish and fries which was good and a good portion for the price. But no butter for the homemade roll and the salt and pepper you have to ask for and hardly any in the packs. Chicken wings were nice and large but was not fried long enough. Service was really good and enjoyable. Think with some more effort this place would be ok. We traveled a distance to see the entertainment which is nice to have with your meal. read more

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. The staff is incompetent, they have terrible customer service, and the food is inconsistent. I ordered a large pizza with breadsticks and not only did I receive a medium with 6 slices but when I called back to tell them they argued with me over the phone and the manager hung up in my face. I have ordered from them previously so I know what their large pizza's look like and this was not a large. All I wanted was a new pizza or a price adjustment but they thought it was more appropriate to go back and forth. Very disapointed. ordered a salad and bread sticks to be delivered. Price was good delivery fee couldnt have been very much and they were delivering pretty far. And they got here fairly quickly. I specifically told the lady on the phone that i didnt want cheese on the salad. Normally ill just pick out whatever i dont want but its incredibly difficult to pick put shreded cheese. The bread sticks are completely saturated with oil. Soggy and limp. It doesnt look or feel very pleasant. Im not going to send it back because it would just take to long and im hungry but im def. I have been to this establishment several times through the years... Never really had a giant complaint until this evening.... service was slow, and the server forgot things several times...We thing she was too busy serving the outside patrons watching the music act....not really a big issue. This issue was the owner/person in charge named BOB ..... I was trying to support local business, as always..... I ordered their own brew....I don't think the price was listed on the menu, however, in our geographical area, beers such as this, are usually 5-6$ for a cold mug. However tonight, I was served a plastic cup with warmish beer... I didn't worry about the price, as it was assumed for a country town, it would be on par with other area establishments. Service was very slow. I finally got my bill and a 12 inch pizza with 1 topping, and 2 beers was over 30.00. The warm beer in the plastic cup was $8.00 a piece. I am sorry, but this is ridiculous based on the geographical area, venue, and the size and temperature of the beer. I mentioned something to the owner/person in charge, "Bob".. Instead of practicing common sense customer service, I was given attitude. I mentioned the price of a plastic cup of beer... (he states all the glasses were dirty). He stated the price of the beer was listed on the menu (it was not-- if so, I would have gone with a brand I am familiar with, instead of a $8.00 gamble on their own brew). In a nutshell, he was pretty much a condescending ass towards me. He is sitting in the middle of the country trying to be an artisan brewer. #epic failure. We are new to the area and have ordered deliveat from them twice - once pizzas on a Sunday and once dinners on a Friday. Both experiences were awful. Very long delivery time, cold, old-seeming, food. TWO HOUR DELIVERY!? Our family frequents Al's at least once or twice per month and have for years. Usually service is excellent and friendly, apologetic if a mistake is made, and eager to make ammends. The food is obviously good enough to keep us coming back. Tonight, however, was a whole new experience for us. We used Al's online ordering system to place our delivery order and paid upfront with my card, including a $2 delivery charge, as well as a $5 tip for the driver. When I verified my receipt online, my order was placed at 5:10pm with a noted delivery time of 6:10 pm. Finally, at 7 pm, I called over to see where our dinner was. The young lady who answered the phone told me she had no order for delivery, only pickup. I informed her I was l looking at my receipt as we were speaking and she replied that her manager would look into the matter and return a call to me, which she did with a minute. This is basically what I was told: 1) she was able to locate our order 2) the online ordering system had been working all day so she didn't understand why it didn't alert staff to our order, sorry 3) our food was being made as we were speaking 4) since I had prepaid with my card, we were good to go. It'll probably be awhile before or family calls again, no matter how much this mom doesn't feel like cooking dinner for five! I try to avoid Al's because I have NEVER had a good experience. The only time I order Al's is when I need delivery, since they are the only pizza place in Dillsburg to offer delivery. If your order is anything besides a cheese pizza, odds are they will get it wrong or something will go wrong. Today, I used the Al's online ordering for delivery because I have no car to drive out. I just don't know. I remember how epically amazing this place was from my younger years. I remember going right after they were built (and frequenting their other locations before that). The buffet was always reasonably priced and with a wide variety. One of my favorite things ever was their cheesesteak pizza. This thing was the bomb. Sliced meat, onion, cheese blend....it was just really damn good. Having not had this pizza in a long-long time and my recent return to the area, my wife and I decided to order a pie. When our cheeseteak pizza arrived we quickly became disappointed. All the cheesesteak meat was missing and in its place....ground hamburger. Yuck. Sucks. I just ordered from Al's and am awaiting my delivery. I am not from around here originally, so their pizza fills a bit of a nostalgic gap for me. Their sauce does not have the level of sweetness that seems to be the de rigueur in this area. Nothing wrong with it, but it definitely seems to be a regional taste, and I have yet to develop the taste for it. I have ordered salads, appetizers, pizza, calzone, boli, and other items from Al's. I have found them all to be solid. I have not had any of their desserts or pasta dishes, and maybe that is something I can remedy in the quasi near future and update my review. I have been ordering from there (eat in, take out, and delivery) for about 5 years now. I have found them to be very consistent and solid. They even have a drive up window if you are not willing to go into the counter to pick up your food. They have beer and similar alcoholic beverages, and will sell to go. A standby favorite for me when I do not feel like sticking my face outside of my apartment. Al's is easy to access from 15, and is located on Tristan Drive near the Rutters, They have a large dining area with a buffet, but I have not experienced that yet. Placed an order with an italian sausage and peppers sub for take out. After arriving home and opening the order, there is no sub...only a styrofoam container with a handful of sausage slop with no bread. After calling and being told by the girl at the counter "uh that is really odd because I have to actually select sub and then the sausages", I am put on hold while she gets a pen to take my phone number for the manager to call. Another girl then picks up, asks "what I want" then tells me that there is a 'new menu' that has an sausage appetizer and that's what it was. (Completely contradicting what the other girl said). Regardless, this was not the sub that was listed on the receipt and order. The stellar customer service solution? To sigh and tell me that I can drive back with the container of slop and she can put it on a bun for me.
