This place is only really good if you're ordering breakfast food and even then, it's not always the best. The service is often slow and mess ups are more common than not. Not always the most friendly in there either but it depends on who you get. Some of the servers are great! As far as the exterior goes, it's what to come to expect from a Big Boy but could Definitely use some work in areas. Same goes for the inside and the type work that needs more than anything is a deep clean. Stopped here at 4:07 pm on 10/31, there was a sign that said they closed at 4 on colored paper. nothing was posted online, google even said opened till 10 pm. we even called a week prior to CONFIRM they'd be open with the holidays and they said they'd be open regular business hours that day. we saw people thru the window sitting at tables still. but door was locked. i get it was a holiday, but maybe tell people that when they call and ask?! the other big boy in Charlotte was open regular hours. so i guess this big boy just makes there own hours. read more

The new ownership has done wonders with this classic diner! Locals like us have been coming here for years, we love the new and enthusiastic improvements! They have a full staff that's doing a great job. The soup & salad bar is back daily! The menu has all the classics and food comes out hot and delicious. Buffet specials throughout the week! And since this one has parking (Burbank, California has insane parking problem, I assure you dear reader), you go! The food isn't even the point, although it's good diner fare. STOP! DON'T EAT HERE! METAL SHAVINGS FOUND IN MY FOOD! myself and my family ordered breakfast from here on Sunday may 9th, 2020. I had pancakes as well as another family member. During the course of eating I bit down and bit on something hard and sharp. This object turned out to be metal shavings presumably from a brillo pad! So we decided to call and let them know for two reasons. One was a refund on the food, the other was for the safety of other customers. The first call went fine and they said "yes it was probably from the brillo pad he uses to wipe the grill with ". We went on our way i continued my meal. A couple bites later I was chewing and felt something stab the inside of my mouth which caused me to bleed. All in all we found 4 metal shavings in our pancakes between myself and another family member. At this point we decided not to eat the food and call back to receive a full refund on our food. The owner eventually got on the phone and was very rude, and very aggressive and hostile. He sated he would "come to my house rite now!" Denied a refund on my food. And tried stating that we put the metal shavings into the food ourselves! He said he would only refund the pancakes that had metal and hung up. We called back 5 times in a row, each time to be met with the phone being picked up and hung up rite away. We do not want to argue or get more then we were out from this man as we know times are hard with covid 19. (I even gave them a 10 tip when I picked the food up). SO FOR YOUR SAFETY, DO NOT EAT HERE. I am a U.S. Army combat veteran, and my family was treated with hostility, bullying , and disrespect from this man( the owner, Dave Hunt)! Onion rings we had were old and had freezer burn (they claimed to not freeze them) but then that means they were not freshly made. We had about 3 different waitresses. Our server had to come back 3 times to take our order. Our burgers were of McDonald's quality with bad lettuce. I took about two bites and couldn't continue. Big boys use to be good and we went here from out of state for memory purpose but I guess it should have stayed in the memories. Been going to this Big Boy for 25 years , after today we will never go back , arrived at 12:10 order put in finally at 12:35 received order at 1:10 than I had to locate waitress to get it , food was cold soup was even cold Pathetic service . I was here for breakfast this morning before heading home, which on weekends they have a breakfast Buffett but you can still also order off the menu as well, if you choose to do that. And I ordered their hotcakes that is under their classics menu, and they served them on a small plate which for sure they should have served them on a bigger plate than what they served them on, which comes with butter and syrup, and now warning that the syrup comes out much faster than what you might be used to when you have syrup even at home for breakfast foods such as pancakes, waffles and French Toast. And I certainly enjoyed them, but with it being on the downside of it being on a small plate. How could they get the hotcakes onto a small late is beyond me. Which nice on a Sunday the place is open 2 hours than normal Tuesdays thru Saturdays, which they are closed on Mondays. But then they close at 3 PM on Sundays where the rest of the week that they are close at 7 PM. read more

Got a take from here a week or so ago and we live 30 minutes from this big boy and they went out of their way to make sure our food was packaged hot and in perfect containers for the ride home. This was by far the best big boy we have ever eaten at. We did carry out only but they went above and beyond to cater to us and delivered the best tasting food from a big boy ever!!! Went there tonight with the family to eat. Waitress was great, manager was rude and childish. Sat for 45 minutes never received our whole order, manager and cook in back goofing off. Received two orders, the other two got part orders. They brought rest of one and still the last person never received the remainder of their order. Then when confronted about it he refused to take responsibility kept mumbling things under his breath told us go eat at McDonald's anytime something was said he was rude and continues to mumble talking about us. This is by far the WORST breakfest buffet i have ever had. Me and my friend had to make the big mistake of stopping in for a bite. Man what a mistake. 1. Eggs-runny and extremly salty. Scrambled was burnt. 2. Pancakes-Rubbery and tasteless 3. Waffles-Extremely hard 4. Drinks-cups were not clean 5. Service-extremly rude. Absoutly We have not been here for many years . After reading about the change of ownership and all the positive reviews we decided to stop in this morning for breakfast. Absolutely love the new ownership! Absolutely love the smiles on all the workers! Absolutely love the staff on how they took care of everyone and made everyone feel welcomed. You could tell something was a little different as soon as you walked in the door. Super super friendly and greeted promptly. The restaurant was supper clean. Now to the food. WOW! Delicious and fresh. We both had the breakfast bar and glad we did . The food presentation was excellent, and the taste was outstanding. Hot and fresh. I have to say we have found our new breakfast spot in Mason. The owner stopped by our table ( sorry I forgot her name ) She was super friendly ! Pretty much what you would expect from a Big Boy. This place is clean and the staff was friendly. The breakfast buffet was ok. The bacon must be really cheap because it tasted burned and was essentially all fat, no meat, so they had to cook the hell out of it. I ate some scrambled eggs that were fine, although the green peppers and onions in it were raw. I would suggest to saute them first. The coffee was good and they kept my cup filled up. I think I need to buy some type of blinders before I go there again. The gross fatties shoveling food in their mouths makes it tough to eat there. read more

Every time we enter this restaurant I'm impressed on how clean this place is. I've seen a waitress spend 15 minutes with a bucket of soapy water cleaning every inch of the highchair. Here is just one item on how they treat their employees.....They don't even have the common Courtesy to call the employee and tell them they don't need them to come in. ( For what ever reason ) Management lets them drive all the way in and then tells the employee to go home.( Not to mention they don't make very much money to begin with.) We followed her back to a booth by the window and never even sat down yet, the server asked us for our drink order. So we both ordered water. She brought us our drinks back with silverware. The napkins were covered in coffee wrapped up our silverware! The server said that it was completely okay! I got so disgusted and asked for a different server. I would like to start by saying I have always enjoyed one of my favorite meals it big boy. However, my most previous experience was a rather poor one. My friend with me ordered the Fried Chicken meal with broccoli and mashed potatoes. The broccoli was cold and the chicken was not at all like the photo. It was greasy looking and the texture was very rubbery. Almost as if it was microwaved. The server handled it nicely when my friend informed her of his disappointment. And then said she'd send a manager over. When the manager, Jamie, arrived she did not introduce herself not display any sign of politeness. She was in fact rude, short and unapologetic. She actually argued with my friend and said she eats the chicken all the time and has never had a problem with it. Never once apologized nor made the situation better.
