I didn't pack my lunch and just as I was heading off base, I decided to try Big Chicken. Service was really slow for the drive through. I waited 13 minutes at the window. I received my drink and just sat there. It didn't look super busy inside and no one was behind me in line. I ordered the #1 just the regular chicken sandwich with fries and a homestyle lemonade. I didn't like the lemonade. I misinterpreted homestyle for homemade (fresh squeezed). The sandwich was good and I really liked the fries and sauce. The sauce reminded me of Cane's sauce. I'd go back again to see if it's truly slow or just that day. read more

Great service provided by Kiley! Cannot recommend the chicken because I only ordered some fries to accompany my salad for the drive home. The chicken had good flavor. It's definitely more flavorful than canes or a jack spicy chicken. I ordered the Nashville hot and it was not spicy at all for my taste. The slaw was a little flavorless and also not spicy but the fries were really good and crispy! The food came out pretty fast. The customer service was good. There was a young lady with red hair who was really nice and even brought us a high chair for my daughter. (: the dining area was nice and clean. AWARENESS: A few weeks ago, I saw an Instagram post from Naval Base San Diego that a Shaq's Big Chicken had opened on the base. If you don't know. Shaq's has opened a few locations in the Southern California area but, in San Diego. This Shaq's is the only one. NARRATIVE: While visiting the San Diego area a few months ago, I talked the wife in joining me as I headed to the Naval Base San Diego. Located just inside the main gate, on the "wet side" of the naval base, you'll see Shaq's Big Chicken on the right as soon as you're out of the roundabout and headed towards the bay. Even though I did see they have a drive-through window, we decided to park, go inside and look at the menu. Pretty cool place. A couple of NBA arcade games in the back. Super clean interior, tables and chairs and a super friendly and helpful staff behind the counter. I ordered the Uncle Jerome's Nashville Hot sandwich which cam with the chicken, lettuce, mayo and pickles. You also have the option to add Ghost Peppers to any and everything. I also ordered their Dunks which are basically small, seasoned chicken bites. The sandwich was extremely flavorful and juicy. Spices of both hot and sweet did a number on my pallet. And the Dunks were amazing. And because I didn't finish them there, I saved for later and they were even better cold. SCENE: This Shaq's Big Chicken is the only one in the San Diego area. Located on the wet side of Naval Base San Diego, you'll need access on the installation. Once inside, Shaq's is located at the corners of Surface Navy Blvd. and Robertson St. RECOMMENDATION(S): If you're in the San Diego area and have access to the base, I highly suggest givings Shaq's a try. read more

Big Chicken has pretty good food, and is a nice change of pace when compared to other fast food chains. The people working there are very friendly and it has great service. There's an employee who deserves a shout out, Viviannyr. She's super friendly and worked well with all the customers that came in. Quite possibly the most pleasant worker at a fast food restaurant I've interacted with. Shaq's station brought good music, too. read more

Great food. Luv the Shaq Attack! Strawberry Milkshake was nice and thick, with lots of strawberries.

Food is simple and delicious menu isn't complicated this location didn't have the regular menu items so maybe in the future.

Nothing big here except the prices. Limited menu. Drinks are smaller than average (large drink here is regular drink elsewhere). Chicken sandwich was average, sauce was very peppery. Crinkle fries were very pale, insides not fully cooked. read more

I went in to this location today. It was nearly empty inside with just a family of three enjoying their meal. Nobody at the drive thru. I approached the register and immediately the worker notified me that I would have to wait quite a while because they had a phone in order of 20 chicken sandwiches. I told him I just need one chicken sandwich. He said I would have to wait. I understand that there is a large order, but that does not shift any attention for the orders that are in store and at the drive thru. This is just mismanagement of a business. How much trouble you think it had been to slide one more sandwich while making the order? This is not a location where they have customers steadily rolling in on the weekends. I really think if they strived to actually perform customer service the outcome of the large order received would have been the same. This business will see the same fate of the last several businesses in the last 30 yrs at that location. Bye bye read more
