Everyone else in my past went about their routine and just left my blurry half-blind eyeglass prescription alone, but he went above and beyond and got me seeing again with a specialized contact lens. Needless to say but I'm floored to be seeing again out of both eyes with full peripheral vision. Staff had no issues with my insurance regardless of the complexity of the situation. I ended up returning three pairs of prescription glasses and, after having a second exam from an ophthalmologist, was told WP made my prescription nearly twice the level I needed. It's about quantity of people coming through the doors, not the quality of the exam.

My experience today was with a fourth-year optometry student who is two weeks from graduating. She was kind, clear in her communication, patient, easy to talk with. The doctor who came in afterwards to do her own checking was bubbly and fun, but also thorough, checked on a few things the student had done, asking how the student graded a certain test she did, then shared the 'grade' she gives--small difference. It was a two-hour total experience--exactly how I was told it would probably be when I did the phone registration. Best thing about costs is they DO accept Medicare, I only paid $25 to cover dilation--not covered by Medicare.

Odd since the only info you need for an appointment is the patient's name and birth date. The remaining "personal" information would be the policy holder of the insurance which would be me. Pretty sure my 21 YO doesn't know who the insurer is, my birth date or the last four of my SSN which is what they need to submit the insurance claim. Not sure that the less than user friendly staff understands the concept of HIPAA in this context. I am the person providing all the of the "personal" information. Never been told I couldn't make an appointment for someone in my family because of HIPAA. Happy to take my business elsewhere.

Dr. Shari met with me; and after an initial consultation with one of the doctor's associates, she tested my vision and analyzed the photos of my eyes. Wonder of wonders, despite the time that has passed and my advanced age, there was no change. So I could proceed with new glasses using the same prescription. I wanted the same frame design that I was happy with, and I was happy to hear that the model was still available and had not been discontinued. So I proceeded to order the new glasses.
