I have found my "dream team" when it comes to eyeglasses: Dr. Diane Lee (optometrist), Tracy (store manager) and Lauro (lab tech.) Each is so very skilled in his/her respective area. I've now got glasses I can wear for the first time in my life; I've probably spent thousands elsewhere to get glasses that I simply never could adjust to. Finally I have prescription readers, mid-range, and progressive glasses that are fantastic. All 3 of these folks are patient and helpful and I will not see anyone else - I come all the way from Aurora fot my vision appt. yearly with Dr. Lee then follow up with Tracy fkr glasses when needed and Lauro to customize fit better when needed. Awesome!! And the store has a great selection of frames too. read more

My wife went to this location for an exam and new glasses as they are in-network for our vision insurance When she told me the price she paid (approx $650,) I knew something wasn't right as we usually pay about $350-$400 at Warby Parker, whom is out-of-network. Upon viewing the receipt, I knew Lenscrafter fleeced my wife and charged her for completely unnecessary items while leading her to believe they were necessary. Our insurance has different tiers for copays for lenses, protection, etc. and they charged her for the highest tier of everything and eliminated our much cheaper copays for a 20% discount on EVERYTHING. Never once did they explain that cheaper, comparable options that qualified for our copays were available, nor did they tell her that these "upsells" wouldn't qualify for our copays - they just told her they were necessary and charged them at the highest tier. They also charged her for a completely unnecessary "optomap" that isn't covered by insurance because it's not medically necessary. As a result of this blatant deception, my wife canceled the order and I called the manager. The manager claimed that they do tell people their options as it related to their copays, but then backtracked and said they only do so when people ask for a cheaper option. He then broke down the price if we went for the items that did qualify for our copay, and the difference was significant (approx $200,) but still higher than the out-of-network provider. The lies and deceptions continued after I reached out to corporate. Apparently, the manager told them that my wife said she "wanted the same lenses as last year," that's why they didn't show her any other options. However, she has never bought glasses or lenses from LensCrafters before so the manager just lied to get himself out of trouble. Their corporate office didn't even look to see if that was true or not. If your salespeople aren't telling people they have cheaper options based on their copays, you are deceiving them, especially when you claim these premium items not covered under copays are all medically necessary. This very well may be a violation of insurance or consumer protection laws. I have since learned one of my wife's coworkers had a nearly identical experience at this same store and her husband also became upset when he realized his wife had been fleeced too. These deceptive sales tactics need to end - patients have a right to know what their options are based on their copays. Instead, LensCrafters makes deceptive claims about premium items being necessary in an attempt to maximize patients' out-of-pocket expenses and their profit. It is not only unethical, but also possibly illegal, so I will be filing a complaint with the IL Attorney General's office and IL Department of Insurance and never stepping foot in a Lenscrafter again, especially if their prices are still higher "in-network" than Warby Parker. read more

This location is part of the oakbrook mall. They are close to the covered garage and it's located across the Container store of the mall. They have a good selection of brand name frames for both eyeglasses and sunglasses. They have a nice list of doctors to see and walk-ins are welcomed. Daniel was a great help. My husband wanted a style brand that they sell here. They don't take VSP insurance - they are out of network so we ended up just buying the designer frame. We were able to get an authorized code from VSP for us to use towards the lens. Daniel explained to us how we can use our VSP insurance meaning buy frames here as long as we had our prescription already then go to another location that is in-network. Overall it was a great customer experience. If they took VSP insurance then I would come back here again. read more

Be very careful when getting your prescription glasses here with eyemed or any insurance. Note the frame name and # you select and make sure the frames you select are the exact frames on the glasses you get back. I helped my mother select frames that were slightly over her insurance allowance. She paid $40 something and her insurance covered the rest. Not bad, until 2 weeks later when she went to retrieve the glasses and they gave her a pair of different frames. The same brand but a different- cheaper- frame. She had to reorder them and wait another 2 weeks. No apology, no reasonable explanation. When she went to get the new glasses with the correct frames they snidely made sure she knew she had to give back the old one as if keeping them was tantamount to robbery. After that experience is it a big deal to let her keep the old ones when they'll probably throw them away anyway? read more

their customer service is absolute trash. I've tried to give them so many chances and they just suck. I had decent experiences with the doctors but the sales staff and management are the worst. Rude, condescending and don't take care of things at a timely manner. The girl greeted me, asked for my last name and just told me to sit down. But took calls, was doing paperwork. Went up to explain that I have to go. And she asked for my last name AGAIN. So she didn't even look into what I needed. Handed me my glasses and said to "Take Care". Glasses didn't even fit nor did she care to check. So I asked her to adjust them. She could've opened the box and shown me them and checked the fit. Everything feels like you're inconveniencing them. Highly recommend this location for friendliness and service. Ippolita was so accommodating when I came in with a pair of non-LensCrafters glasses. She tightened them for zero charge--I did offer to pay for the service. Really helped me as I am leaving on a two-week business trip. Yesterday I was excited to receive a pair of sunglasses from a very upscale company. The sunglasses were relatively inexpensive, but I was so disappointed that when they arrived, one of the two nose pieces was missing. I contacted the company, produced a photo, and they quickly said they'd be sending me a new pair AND I should just keep the incomplete pair. Nice, right?! So today I went to Lensecrafters in Oakbrook. Antwuan was fantastic! He took the sunglasses, invited me to take a seat, and before too long, returned with a new nose piece attached to the sunglasses. While it did not perfectly match the original, it was really close. When he said, "No charge. Have a great day!" I was flabbergasted! I had an excellent experience at the Oak Brook location! I never leave reviews but it's important to recognize excellent customer service. I have high index progressives but because I wear my glasses lower on my face, the line of sight also needs to be lowered. They tirelessly worked with me to recut the lens until I was able to see optimally. You don't see that level of commitment often these days! They have a customer for life now. read more

I've been going here for years and have always had good service...or expected service. Today's customer service was outstanding. From the assistant taking me through the initial part of the exam with all the machinery; to Dr. Lee and her typical detailed explanations; to the assistant that I worked with to order my contacts and new eye glasses, who also clearly explained the charges, what insurance covers, additional discounts and what I actually owe, and explained that the bold type on the receipt wasn't the actual amount I paid, that was a little further down after the discounts. I have experience average service in the past, and maybe it is the actions they take to ensure everything is clean, you do have to wear a mask when you are with a doctor, or the fact it was a weekday and not a weekend...I was impressed with the high level of customer service today. read more

Not a huge selection but the employees here are so personable that we'll likely come back here for glasses over another company with a larger selection. Things I like about this Lenscrafters: A. We were greeted right away and a really helpful and eager obstetrician explained the store layout and gave us one of those little boxes to hold our selections in. B. The store is so clean and easy to navigate without being at all pretentious. C. It's cool to see the people in back in the lab coats. Makes me think there's some really groundbreaking lens crafting going on here. D. We were told that my BF could pick out glasses and they could log them into the system so that if we come back or go to any other Lenscrafters, our picks will be on file. E. The super cute girl who logged our fave spectacle picks even added to the conversation that my BF and I were having about my diet and she said I was crazy... as in thin. God bless her heart. This lenscrafters is across from the container store and next to Mario tricoci. You park in the orange garage for the professional building and it's right next to the level two exit into the mall. We called an hour ahead for an appointment for the little one, and they called her in only ten minutes after her appointment time. Not bad. I didn't see any specific youth glasses, but many of the frames for women fit her 8 year old face. Overall a great experience! read more

my daughter was 6 minutes late for her appointment and the doctor refused to see her. she drove one hour from Chicago to oakbrook to be turned away for being 6 minutes late. anyone that lives in the chicago suburbs knows that 6 minutes off of a plan is pretty darn good as the roadways go. Great selection of frames and pleasant staff. It goes downhill from there. Got glasses and frames with in stock lens tint as a temporary solution with promise that my chosen color was ordered and would be in in about a week. 2 weeks later found it it was never ordered. Same technician said would call me when in. 2 weeks later I found they were never ordered. Another 2 weeks later they're in. But uh oh, they're broken in the on-site lab putting them in the frame. So I leave with nothing. Told not to worry because they broke, they speed the order along this time and should be less than a week. 2 weeks later told they're not in and by the way we have the wrong phone number for you. Well the opticians are really good here. ...Otherwise things can go any which way, it's anyone's guess... I've been going here for years and it seems lately the frame selection is less then stellar. I brought in my old frames to get new lenses and everything was super great, the tech that was helping me even clued me into the AAA discount! Then I brought in a second pair of frames and the experience was incredibly annoying. First- stop pressuring me into add-ons and making it sound like it is the worst choice I've ever made when I repeatedly say no. Second- when I tell you I can not see and there is a problem with the lenses don't insist I take them and I'll get used to them. Have been going to this location for years but the last few has been down hill fast!! I made an appointment which they moved after 6pm the night before. Super unprofessional. They offered me 12:50 or 1:30 I took 1:30. I get there they tell me my appointment was at 12:50 which was just not the case. They were completely unapologetic (was the store manager btw) and tried putting it on me. Brutal, just made an appointment at Downers grove location hopefully they have it together over there. Also last pair of glasses I got were not adjusted properly and they told me they were too busy the 4 times I've stopped in and there were literally a couple people there every time. I've been coming here for a few years. The place is going down hill. The doctors are great. The technology they have available to them is excellent. 5 stars for the Doctors and their team. The retail side of the business is terrible. It takes quite a bit of time for the customer service reps to bill you out. It's never been a quick process, but every year it has gotten worse. During my past visit, it took nearly 2 hours for them to bill me out and an hour and a half of that time was spent standing around waiting. 0 stars for the customer service team I really love my doctor and she is what kept me coming back all these years. A fine place with decent selection, Lenscrafters just needs a bit better customer service. I picked out the frames and since I had a prescription from another place, the store assistant told me he would contact my doctor to get it. I gave him my doctors phone number and chose the package for the glasses. The frames were put on hold till they get the prescription. I was told they would contact my doctor next Monday and the glasses would be ready in an hour. I could'n come to Lenscrafters on Monday so I called them. The girl who answered the phone told me that not only they haven't contacted my doctor to get the prescription but I do not have any frames on hold. Finally, after waiting for 15 minutes the girl looked into my file and found both the frames and the number in my file. The glasses were ready the next day. read more

My sister made an appointment for 6:40pm for an eye exam. We were on time, and checked in only to sit for 45 minutes waiting for the doctor. The woman at the front desk was rude when we asked how much longer and told us about the variety of appointments earlier that needed to be attended to before us. We made the appointment for 6:40, the expectation is to be served at 6:40. This is not the first delayed incident. Many appointments before have not been timely. Aside from the time complaints, the store itself is in despair. The floors are dirty and the carpet is stained along with many broken light fixtures and lack of adequate, comfortable heating. We use this particular location because of its convenience, however after today we will be looking for a new office to purchase glasses and contacts. read more

Customer Interface Associate - Brad (Review written by my husband) It seems that the only thing people make time to do is to complain. Fortunately, this is anything but a complaint ... unfortunately, it has taken a few weeks for me to make the time to write this. Several weeks ago, my wife and I visited this LensCrafters where she received an eye exam and purchased two pair of glasses. Less than 2 weeks later, on Valentine's Day, I returned to this store because our 9-month old puppy had chewed-up one pair of my wife glasses while the other pair was left at a restaurant. Brad met me at the door, reviewed the insurance we had purchased with the new glasses (can't imagine anyone not buying this insurance!), located a new frame, and had a pair of new lenses made / a pair of glasses ready in only a few hours. He made the whole experience painless and quick ... not to mention minimizing the puppy's time in the dog house and salvaging Valentine's Day! The worst customer service imaginable. After spending 1200 plus what my insurance covered a month ago, i call them to inquire about my glasses and I deal with several people who don't know much and care even less. It turns out the lenses have been "lost." no apology for dropping the ball on letting me know anything. I sent my daughter to pick up the glasses supposedly made for me in store yesterday and they giver her sunglasses and no eyeglasses. I ask for the manager. She says, "your daughter will have to come back." !!!??? I am screaming now and the manager says, " go ahead take out your anger on me." she leads the culture of don't know and don't care at this place. No apology for anything. She says she ian't the one who made these errors so ahe takes no responsibility for the small minds she has hired and oversees. She does not appreciated the money I went without the last month or the time I am wasting on the phone or the trips my family made in vain to get products I paid for. My frustration is not understood. My advice is to go to a place that perhaps pays less rent but find human beings who actually care and understand the basics of commerce and customer service. read more

I was pretty indecisive as to which kind of frames to get and the staff was more than willing to give honest opinions and reasons why I should or should not select a pair. I was here in Dec. 2015 for an exam and new glasses. I got the pair I was wearing at the time at this same location years before. I wear my glasses for years b4 I get a new pair (I don't recommend doing that), mine were in bad shape is all I'm going to say. I didn't have an appt, so the lady at the desk said she'd have to ask the Dr. It wasn't crowded. So they saw me. They were patient and friendly. There was an employee, I think her name was Melinda who was sooo nice. She went beyond in helping me as I selected new frames. We talked about life a bit. She broke out out that digital camera to show how I'd look in each pair. I'll wear make-up next time, that camera showed every flaw in my skin. The Dr. shared a dessert treat she had with me because it was a special occasion. I picked my glasses up the following week, the guy fitting me was uber patient because I wanted them to fit well (since I'll be wearing them for years). The exam & frame price weren't bad, but the lens/prescription ran the bill up - yikes! The money is in the lens making business. I had a pleasant experience here. read more

The best Lenscrafters I've been to. I've visited others in the area over the years (Wheaton, Downers Grove, Bolingbrook) and the service at Oak Brook surpasses the others.
