    Boston Cream

Stopped in on a Sunday around 7:45am. The parking lot is small.. it can fit only maybe 6 cars, but there is parking on the nearby streets. I'd say he was halfway through his inventory at this point. So, definitely come early! They have an ATM on-site and a bathroom for customers. There's a small counter with seating available. The man behind the counter was very friendly! I purchased one Boston cream, one chocolate peanut, and one glazed. The menu didn't have pricing, but each donut was $1.50 each. He had fritters and cinnamon buns out that looked amazing. Unsure on the pricing for those. The donuts were delicious!! Would recommend!:)

We were only in Pittsburgh for less than 24 hours and had to hit the road early in the morning. We didn't want a sit-down brunch as we were trying to take precautions against COVID-19, so we were looking for something quick and easy. Donuts seemed just the thing! The friend who my family and I stayed with suggested Big Daddy's Donuts. On Sunday morning, we were able to walk right up and grab a dozen donuts without a wait. The shop is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, but all that matters is the taste of the donuts. These were pretty good. We got a dozen donuts. The glazed, powdered cinnamon, chocolate peanut, chocolate cream-filled and the Crafton Angel (powdered sugar filled with fluffy white cream) were my favorites. (Promise I didn't eat all of those, but ate some and enjoyed bites of others.) The cake in these donuts is what helped them shine. There are also some tables out front to sit at, though on this rainy morning, we ended up huddling under a covered grill area instead. This spot also has parking, which makes grabbing a dozen easy. This is a great spot to keep in mind for mornings when you want something extra sweet.

    Butter cake donut!

Amazing! I got 4 really tasty, top tier ( way above dunkin for sure) donuts for 8 bucks! Amazing service, very quick and very sweet :) UPDATE: best donuts I've ever had! And for 2 bucks???? WILL BE GOING BACk !

Nothing beats the service of a "ma and pa" shop. This location was so easy to find, and the shop itself is so very charming. From the friendly service (and the friendly customers), I immediately felt welcomed and eagerly chose a number of donuts to try. The surprise winner donut in my opinion was the toasted coconut (and also, wow, that blueberry muffin). I see a return trip in my future, especially because I wish I'd snagged a cinnamon roll donut.

This was the only open donut establishment I found in this area and do not regret visiting at all! The person that ordered before us got the rest of the fruity pebbles so I asked if they had any more. The gentleman and lady working were so nice and said they could make me one. And wow was it heaven sent! We ordered some glazed (2nd fav), sugar, chocolate ring, and jelly filled. All were so satisfying. I'll be back this week for sure! Another note- it has old diner seats that are super cute for a photo op.

I stopped by Big Daddy's Donuts at about 7:15 a.m. on a Saturday, and tried several varieties of donuts. The shop is definitely out of another era with its decor, and traditional diner counter. The woman at the counter was friendly and helpful. I was surprised that their plain cake donuts were already sold out just over an hour after they opened. I picked up a half dozen (about $5) and an apple fritter ($2.89). There are upcharges for fancy donuts, cinnamon rolls, etc. over standard fare. Frosted cake donuts- They are completely soft (similar to Dunkin' Donuts cake donuts), and were rather moist, but they had an unusual aftertaste that I couldn't place. Because of the strange aftertaste, I would not recommend them. Toasted coconut raised donut- The toasted coconut topping was crisp and flavorful, and the donut itself was pleasantly light and airy, but unfortunately, the donut itself was ultimately lacking in flavor department. Glazed raised donut- A light, airy, smooth texture with a slightly sweet glaze. Overall, an average glazed donut. Apple fritter- A light texture dough with a sweet, syrupy apple filling. While it is very large, it is nothing special, especially when you factor in the $2.89 price. The store opens at 6 a.m., counter to what is listed on Yelp right now. Sadly, I was underwhelmed by Big Daddy's Donuts. The cake donuts were not good, the apple fritter was middling, and the glazed donut and coconut donut were merely average. If you are in the area and in the mood for a donut, your "better" bet is to go to Better-Maid donuts, which is only a five-minute drive away.

I just came back to say the donuts are still delicious. My favorite is now the sour cream doughnut. The employees are friendly and the prices are so affordable. A dozen of donuts cost like $8!

We've lived in Ingram for a few years and have driven by this place so many times. We finally stopped in and got a dozen donuts to go last weekend. They were really good! We're glad we finally tried them, and will be back for more!

Nice little shop. Check it out...Some creative toppings. I usually go for less toppings but I did try a toasted coconut cream. The toppings were good. The donut was just your every day donut..softer on the inside with a nice buttery taste. The Orea cream, I was told was realllllyyyy good.

This was only my first time here, but I'm a fan already. I think I need to make Donut Mondays a tradition so it sucks less to drive into Crafton for work. I got an Elvis donut: bacon-maple frosting on top of a banana-cream-filled donut. It was heavenly, though a little sweet. I'd like to have some actual pieces of bacon sprinkled on top to add a little saltiness or some dark chocolate to cut the sweetness. The dough itself was light and the perfect combo of crunchy/crisp exterior with a light, heavenly inside. I wonder if that's how the Crafton Angel donut got her name. I didn't actually look at the menu boards to see the full offering, but there were also Danish pastries and muffins in the case. The price is also reasonable ($8/dozen?!) though they're well worth more than that. The woman behind the counter was so friendly and there was a gentleman sitting at the counter (yep, a counter, like a true diner) who was a regular customer. Both were pleasant and I would have stayed to chat longer and actually look at the menu, but my work schedule would not allow the chit-chat. Maybe next time I can get here earlier - they're open 10pm to 3 pm the next day (usually 24 hours, but the weather got in the way of that). Also - is it doughnut or donut? I insist on the latter.

I can't say I've had many donuts from donut shops across my life, but these were the best I've had yet. I got lucky on a Friday morning before Fourth of July and had some luck that they weren't completely sold out. I went in and only wanted a glazed doughnut to see if they were as good as everyone says, but I left with a good variety of donuts, all of which were incredible. Each staff member was incredibly helpful, and helped me pick based on stuff that I like. They could definitely charge a lot more. This place is super cheap. You Will be seeing me in that morning line very soon to try some more

6/14/2026 Dozen…read moreAssorted - 5.2 It's not worth it. The early wake up, getting in line an hour before opening, them being sold out within a few hours. Showing up this early only for people ahead of you walk out with 3-5 boxes at a time. The hurdles aren't worth it. Now, if someone else brought them to an event and had them available - I would not scoff don't get me wrong, I'd have one (maybe two). I just can't get on board with this place philosophically. The mystique and purposeful scarcity of both selection and what leads to closing quite early is at this point trivial. But it appears the scarcity is the appeal. This is (currently) the NFTs of donuts. We got an assorted dozen and my wife and I were both of the mind "these are all average." Though we were aligned and agreed their Old Fashioned donut is the standout. That one is extremely cravable. Frankly, our experience left so much to be desired that we're content not to go back. I'd recommend not wasting your time either.

Starting in 2008, PLLD has taken Pittsburgh by storm with franchises popping up all over the area but the true start is right here in the Strip District... well two doors down, but who would fault them for moving into the corner spot when it became available. As humble of beginnings, the owner bought a donut machine from a friend's garage that didn't seem to work quite right. Finally working, all that could seem to be produced were this little donuts. Fast forward six months to the owner realizing he installed one component backwards... but the craze of little donuts had already been born! The shop is funkadelic! With the constant parade of fresh mini donuts being fried and topped right in front of you - you can be assured that yours will be hot and fresh. The toppings are always changing and they have display donuts right in front of you so you can eye up which you want to devour! Plus with mini donuts, you can grab quite a variety and tell yourself that 4 or 5 of these would equal the calories of a normal donut... right?! The employees greet you with a fresh cinnamon sugar donut to sample - a tradition that started last June on National Donut Day and they just never seemed to stop! For our Strip District Food Tour, we each got a little donut. We chose the Elvis, Dirt, Chocolate Chip Pancake, and Tres Leches. What a glorious little bite! Perfect combos of sweet and salty - that are almost as pretty to look at as they are to devour!

So many different flavors to choose from, they are tiny donuts though, individually hand dipped as you order and the batter is similar to a 'cake batter' which is denser and lightly crumblier than a typical donut. We tried a dozen for our boys. They also have a sitting area upstairs. They are good, however they are extremely sweet. I felt like my glucose level spiked 10x with the first bite!

The menu lists several flavors of donuts of "raised"/stick donuts and "round" donuts. Raised donuts include the following flavors: Cream Sticks (marshmallow filling with chocolate topping), Jelly Sticks (raspberry-jelly filling with sugar coating), Cinnamon Sticks (cinnamon glaze), and Glazed. Round donuts include the following flavors: Glazed, Powdered Sugar, Chocolate, Peanut (with marshmallow cream), Cinnamon Sugar, Plain Old-fashioned, and Sprinkle (with marshmallow cream). I chose the Raspberry Jelly Stick, and my husband chose the Chocolate Cream Stick. The employee provided excellent service in greeting us, patiently waiting for us to decide our flavors, and processing our payment. I do recommend that the business add labels near the donuts, but the employee did explain the flavors to us. Each donut cost $1.90. Both of our donuts tasted very good. This business also had a refrigerator of bottled beverages, including milks, teas, Gatorades, coffees, and water.
