Spoke to the waitress: everything is fresh and homemade. The variety on the menu is amazing, like a drive across the USA from Maryland. To get the local flavor, I had the cream of crab soup. Rich, delicious and full of real crab. Biscuits and gravy are the best I've ever had. Please don't tell my southern-cook brother in law. Same with fried pickles. They have spoiled me for ever having them anywhere else. Their barbecue is excellent and distinctive. Potatoes are fresh and flavorful; my dad called their fries "county fair fries" ...perfectly cooked and skins intact. My dad got tuna melt, club sandwich, and grilled cheese: all great. And he even loved their chili, and he's a huge chili snob. The interior is humble and authentic to old school roadside diners... the wood burning stove is a unique touch. And if that weren't enough, the music is amazing, over our visits we heard The Ramones, ska, funk, salsa, Afro-Cuban... all at a perfect volume. Can you tell I love this place?

You get better clams from a Chinese buffet on a weekend where you get a meal for the same price as the clams. The salad I got with the platter was also pretty good, very standard. Hard to mess up a salad. The place is very tiny inside and not great for groups. We waited a couple hours to seat six people. It's decorated like an old Hooters and has that kind of feel. Service was 3 stars. It's super loud and noisy inside and she was trying to take our orders from across the table at the other end and I couldn't hear a word she said and she seemed offended when I asked her to come closer. The table and light fixtures seemed clean enough but the floor has definitely seen better days. We were handed a menu that was much smaller than I expected and I was very happy for that. We ordered our food and in less than ten minutes we had it. The food was served nice and warm-hot. We immediately felt that it is a comfort food. The taste was fine but improved after we added salt and pepper (most places that cater to elderly tend to not season their food a lot) and we were more than pleased with the meal. The serving size was spot on for us and the price was more than reasonable. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did and as a result will definitely go again next time I'm in the area and feeling hungry.
