Great job on a modern upgrade of a long time family owned Cumberland institution, D'atri's! I like to take my family here or stop in for a work lunch. I have young ones and they live to pick out different characters on the wall mural. I really enjoy the well thought out layout of the restaurant. You place your order at the counter and tell them if it's dine in or take out. If you dine in it becomes a full service restaurant. If you take out, you can wait at the bar.... Which is a Full Bar. The food! Always and forever the cheese steak. But what I love about the opening of the sit down restaurant, is that it's opened up the menu to me. THEY HAVE THE BEST WINGS IN TOWN, which in Cumberland is no small claim to make. The BUCCATINI is on point, and this is REAL FOOD. Not some corporate crap. Terrible cheesesteak with grizzle "meat"! I actually had to scrape that in the garbage and eat the cheese and lettuce sub. It was awful

I've been a loyal customer to the place for years but enough is enough. Tonight we placed our usual order which includes a small buffalo chicken sub with extra blue cheese on the side and french fries. The sub had no blue cheese on it at all and we did not receive any side of blue cheese. The French fries were so greasy that the bag ripped open resulting in me dropping them. The quality has dropped off a cliff since they moved locations. Once a great place to go is now on our no-go list. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. read more

We always stop by D'Atri on the way to our ski trip. They have delicious cheesesteaks with seasoned lettuce and all the peppers they have to offer. We have never had seasoned lettuce like this in any other cheesesteaks that we have had! We have always ordered for takeout, but maybe one day we'll have time to sit down and have a meal. There is a tower of desserts that intrigued us, but we didn't have time to try it :( read more

This was the family staple when I used to live nearby and after my last visit home to rural PA, it still is. The meals are decent and fairly priced. And the selection of desserts from the bakery is quite extensive from pies to cake slices. However, the last two times I've been here, the acoustics are quite awful. The crowds have tripled in size so it's hard to hear with its creaky second floor and a staff that occasionally seems to act like chickens in training. The menu's changed so much over the years that I haven't seen my favorite subs that I recall they used to have, like the chicken parm sub, and I couldn't figure out the last time I was there why the side basket of bread was served with butter so tough it was like stone. So I swapped it out for the soft butter served with my warm baked potato and salmon dinner. Kudos goes to our amazing waitress who knew what she was doing that day. It is a nice place to visit, but I fear it's become such a tourist-trap. If I'm going to pay $8 for a slice of dessert I know I can buy at Perkins for $4, I'd like the staff in the front lobby to be a little kinder. And I just don't think it's really a sub shop without a wide variety of subs to choose from like it used to be. read more

We went for the all-you-can-eat fish, fries and stewed tomatoes. We got 2 pieces of fish that were 3" long and burnt up and stewed tomatoes that looked and tasted like pizza sauce. We ordered extra fish when they served our first order. We waited 15 minutes and still didn't receive the second order of fish so we left. We assume the owners were sitting behind us. Instead of observing and stepping in when the waitress couldn't do her job they sat there watching their phone. We have eaten at Columbia Strset for 40 + years. We will not go back. First off! I wanna give them props for a very tasty pizza. Now, onto the bad. Went to the bar to get a gin and tonic with a wedge of lime. They had NO IDEA how to make it. The one person didn't even know what button on the soda sprayer was tonic. I don't think there even is a button for tonic - it's usually just soda water. Then they got another person to try to make it. So it came out and I tasted it: it tasted like tap-watered-down gin. And no lime. So took it back, and then they tried giving me a shot glass of soda, and one of tonic, so I could tell THEM which was which. So they made me another one, it tasted just ok, and they did remember the lime, but it was rotten! The slice had mostly brownish-yellow rind, with a sliver of green color to show that at one time long ago it had actually been a lime. These were grown adults, not teenagers. I have been eating here since I was a young boy coming from Stitcher Field after a little league game and my dad decided some "you did your best" cheesesteaks were earned. It is mainly a delivery/takeout joint - so don't expect to walk in and be wowed with magical paint and ultra clean amenities. It is what it is- a sub shop that you take out or get delivered. There have been times over the years where things have went awry, but if you contact the shop and voice your problem- they are willing to take care of you. I would recommend the cheesesteak with extra mayo, and their meatball subs are good as well. As far as their items - I can't really speak to because if it ain't broke why would you fix it? I am not a complainer, but I feel the need to share this for anyone in search of a take-out restaurant in Cumberland: On September 12, 2021 I purchased D'Atri subs for our family after church, as we do many Sunday afternoons. When I returned home, I discovered that my sub was made incorrectly. It was really no big deal, accidents happen. I called D'Atri's and let them know that my sub was not as ordered. The gentleman was very kind, took my name, and told me on my next visit I would have a free sub. Today, October 17, I ordered the same thing from D'Atri's. I planned to use my credit for the sub. When arriving at the store I was told that they "didn't have" my name for my last incorrect order. The lady working the register was extremely rude, telling me I was lying about my previous order being incorrect. My concern when writing this review is not that my previous order was not made right, it was the way I was treated by a staff member. If you're looking for a restaurant that treats their customers poorly and tells them they are liars, D'Atri Subs is the place to go! If not, AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Sure, their steak subs are excellent, but I cannot support a restaurant that has no respect for their customers. read more

I read on Yelp about the well reviewed restaurant, so I thought I'd try out the sub shop version which was recommended by a local in town. This is a solid shop and I will definitely be back. I've only been here once but the large sub was huge, lots of meat, lettuce was flavorful as promised (if not a bit too salty), the roll was good and I have no doubt they can make a mean sandwich! That said, my first sub there was just, okay. I ordered the cheese steak which seemed to be the one everyone raves about at the restaurant version of D'Atri. First time to a place I like to order it however it is listed on the menu to get a taste of the basic sandwich. There were two things that killed this cheese steak for me; (1) The cheese wasn't melted. I had a slab of provolone on there that just kind of slid around between the mayo and the toppings. A cheese steak should have cheese that is well melted to everything. (2) That mayo was awful! Instead of a standard mayonnaise which I was expecting, it was more of a sweet mayonnaise dressing, like Miracle Whip, that overpowered the sandwich. So, I couldn't taste that signature seasoned lettuce, the cheese, the steak, or the grilled onions... all I tasted was some unexpected sweet mayo. Yuck! The fries were okay. Crisp, but tasted like old oil. I think with some salt or a better cheese steak, I wouldn't have been picky about the fries. That said, I can tell they know how to make a sandwich, I'll just have to take a little more ownership for how I order it next time. I think I'll try the Italian hoagie, which is the mark of any good sub shop. Anyway, someone please review this joint and tell me how wrong I am and what I should be ordering. The kitchen staff don't wear gloves and I watched two different guys put their bare hands in the veggies, cut them up and then put them on food being prepared for customers all with their bare hands. This was right after one of them was just counting cash. Gross. God knows what else they touch while making your food. Then when I asked the cashier about it, I was told he is a delivery guy. Like someone else who wrote a review, we were staying at the Fairfield in Cumberland and the front desk gave us a paper with local restaurants on it. We picked this one since we were both in the mood for a good sub. I called the order in and was told it would be 25 minutes. Not a problem - we just waited and timed it to arrive there when it would be ready. Not the easiest place to find but the good news was they have parking. The bad news was that there was a line on the sidewalk with about 7 people in front of us. Granted, this was two weeks ago with COVID shutdowns so alot of people are doing takeout and places are busy. Still - would have been nice if they had told us they were backed up and we'd have to wait. Worse, as I was slowly moving forward - very slowly considering it was a sub shop and takeout - a guy drove up, parked, called the restaurant and said he was standing outside. They must have asked if he had already ordered because he said "Yes, I called in in" - and they told him to come on in. Annoying not only because line jumping was allowed, but him being in there violated their own sign limiting the number of people inside to preserve social distancing. In the end he wasn't given his food right away - those of us who had been waiting in line didn't give way to him when walking in. He was still waiting inside when I left. Now to review the food - these subs were huge! I had ordered the cheese steak but once we got to where we were going to eat I discovered there was no cheese on it. I believe it would have been alot better with the cheese, if for no other reason than it would hold the meat together. As it was the meat fell out all over the place. I'm not sure if it was hamburger or minced beef - not the thin sliced meat I was expecting, and really quite bland. But, it was huge and it tasked "ok" so I might try them again some time. The SO had an italian cold cut sub that was good, though not very italian. It was huge too. Not a great experience but I'm going to be generous with 3 stars because it's possible that the whole COVID situation with the increased demand might be stressing out the staff. read more

They offer more than just subs and sandwiches, they make amazing pizza and the wings are some of the best around. They also offer most of their subs as a salad with the seasoned lettuce. My first time at this shop. I called in an order after looking at the online menu and requested that my lettuce, tomato, and sweet peppers be put on the side. I was not told a total. Since this chain doesn't toast their bread, I didn't want my sandwich to get soggy on my 20 minute commute home after working in the nursing home all day. When I got there, and got my total, I was informed that it cost extra to have your toppings on the side. When I told them that I was not told this over the phone nor did I read it online, I was told that it is "assumed" that everybody knows. That's just ridiculous. I said OK, just put it on the sandwich. I paid and left. When I got home, I could tell that they just took the container of wet toppings, and just dumped it on the top. stayed at the fairfield inn this weekend in cumberland md. beautiful room, beautiful staff, so when my spouse and i got hungry we asked the front desk clerk to recommend. we will be coming back to fairfield, but we will never it at this spot again. aside from the salads, (yes, they screwed up salads), they could not process our cards. which in today's society we immediately called our banks 800 #'s and made sure there were no extra charges. a cheesesteak salad had hamburger on it. i'm from pa. we know cheesesteak, this was not it. no tomatoes, and to add insult to injury, why ask me what type of dressing i want if your not going to send it? like i said we will be coming back to cumberland me., but will never it there again!!! read more
