This food was horrible!!! We didn't discover this until we got back to our hotel. The old guy was very nice but he should be ashamed our the food that he sold us. I started to take it back to him but decided I better not just to avoid a confrontation. Suggestion... get/see your food before you pay for it. Don't get duped like we did. Big D and his daughter Mickey treated us just like family!!! My family of 5 ordered a variety of meats, side dishes, desserts and beverages! Wow. Just wow. I ordered the ribs w/ potato salad and beans for dinner to-go, not expecting too much but Big D's ribs really blew me away. Meaty, fall-off-the-bone ribs. I knew I was about to experience delicious ribs when they only gave me a fork and spoon. No knife needed because the meat is so tender!!! I got about half a rack, maybe less, in this meal. It will definitely last me 2 meals! The sauce is tangy, sweet with an amazing smoked flavor. I almost always need a side of extra sauce with my barbeque but these ribs were slathered in sauce which went perfectly with my bread, potato salad and beans! With a can of Dr. Pepper my entire meal was $14. They keep their sodas in a cooler, but might be better to bring your own drink. They had run out of coke and it looked like my Dr. Pepper was beaten up. Seems like they keep their cans in that cooler until they run out. The music playing outside is very festive and loud, great for get togethers with outdoor seating. Inside is more cozy and homey, with no places to sit down and eat. I got mine to-go and ordered 10-15 min ahead. I am definitely coming back. read more

A pound of ribs to go on a somewhat early evening during the week heading back to the hotel. A bit too much sauce on them for my liking and the ribs themselves were probably little on the overdone side. This place was a backup plan to Jack's -- who said they would not have ribs until 8:00 PM. Bottom line for me is it was a happy detour as for being from up north you just don't get ribs like this anywhere around. I had the rib plate, which came with 3 ribs, potato salad and beans for $10. The place is in a rough part of town and looks pretty dodgy. There was chopped wood outside, so that is always a good sign at a BBQ place. The inside was cleaner than I thought it would be. The ribs were cooked pretty well, and the flavor was good. They covered it in sauce, which I didn't really like. The beans were just pork and beans. Not good at all. The potato salad was probably the best part of the meal. Overall, it was pretty good. I took my big dinner combo back to the hotel and ended up throwing out most of it. Me and my field crew stopped here to try the barbecue since there are so many barbecue places in Shreveport. I ordered the chopped pork sandwich and an order of yams. I should have knew something was off when I seen the lady open a tupperware of yams and smell it to make sure it was good. She didn't microwave the cold yams for me. My chopped pork was more or less what look like ground-up bacon with some barbecue sauce on it. It was not that great. And I do believe the yams were sour. I wasn't sure what to think on arrival...we we're playing outside in the humid Louisiana night, in front of what looked like an old gas station. We got there set up and played and had a great time. Then Big D himself served up the best damn burger/brisket sandwich on the planet. i meant to take a picture of it but i couldn't bring my self to set it down. I ordered the rib plate and the ribs were old and dry it's like they were cooked a week before I ordered them, the beans were from a can, the potato salad was okay. The banana pudding had to been made at least a month before I got it , it was inedible. I am all for mom and pop stores and restautants. I was in shreveport for work and wanted to try this place for some good bbq. The location is a little sketchy, i decided to still go in and give it a try. When i walked in, i was greated by a really nice lady and older gentleman. However, i wasnt sure if i had walked into someones house or was it a restaurant. The place was a bit crowded and dirty. The gentlemen was also seated in a large armchair with a tv and a bunch of things around him smoking a cigarette. The cigarette smell of cigarettes hits you so bad when you walk in. The lady reminded me it was a restaurant when she pointed where the menu was. I ordered the bbq dinner that came with ribs, potato salad and beans. I asked if they take card and the gentleman told me yes. However, he could not get his card machine to take my amex or visa card. No it was not declining for not having insufficient funds, it kept giving error codes on his machine screen.The total for the meal was $14 which was decent, however i only had like $5 cash on me and was a bit out of the way to go get cash and come back. The gentleman did offer for me to take the food and come back the next day to pay him. I had to kindly decline because i was not sure if i did want to come back to this enviroment. When i left, i wasnt sure if i should have been relieved or bummed out. I really was looking forward to trying their food and the sweet potato pie i spotted on my way out smelled so heavenly, but then again i wasnt sure if my food would have tasted like cigarettes by how strong the cigarette smell was in the little restaurant. So i guess ill give this place 2 stars since the service was pleasant, but the fact that the machine was not reading my cards and the restaraunt needs a good deep cleaning and needs to be cigarette free. read more

It saddens me to write this review. The two people working at 1030 pm were so nice but............. We pulled up and I felt this place was going to be so cool. It seemed like a place the kids would all want to hang out at after school. It was empty so I didn't want to walk in. We did walk in and were so uncomfortable. A very nice women took our order but there was a man in a dirty recliner in the corner that took our payment. He didn't have shoes on just flip flops. My husband asked to use the bathroom, huge mistake, the mans shaving kit was in the public bathroom and the was a BAR of soap to wash your hands with. We waiting about 20 minutes for our food but were still hopeful. WRONG. my chopped beef plate had hard pieces of fat and looked like alpo. My husband had a sausage sandwich and it ended up being a hamburger patty made out of grey breakfast sausage. We also took a chance on the banana pudding. We ate NONE of it.
