The frozen drinks are okay, but the bar makes up for this by making them Really Strong. +1 Don't go for the "oh, it's a daiquiri place", go for the "hey East Bank Mafia biz has a good bar with mostly tasty food" and you probably won't be disappointed. Major bonus points for the alley concert venue and related bars all up and down the street. Except that axe throwing place. I love frozen Pirogue! I've been here quite a few times. But have most recently been coming for brunch. They no longer have a brunch food menu, but they still have the mimosa special. I believe it's $20 for bottomless. And they mean, bottomless, the pours are very tall. I like this place because there's plenty of seating, and it's an open air space. They also have live music on the weekends. The service is always great, the bartenders are very attentive. There's plenty of street parking as well as some parking in the back lot. The outdoor space was warmer given that it has space heaters. I almost would have preferred that. Overall I would say that they have some kinks to work out. Only 2pm when we got there and it was all ready full of drunks. Guy at another table took his boots off. Guess he needed to get comfortable. Acoustics were AWFUL. Amplified the already loud people and it was just way too noisy for me. The service was GREAT!!!! I got redfish etoufee with boiled shrimp and vegetables and my wife got stuffed blue crabs. In case you've never ate redfish it's a dry meat, not moist. All in all it was ok. Stuffed crabs were ok too. I wasn't overly impressed by the food and the high noise level and drunks didn't make it any better. Just wasn't my kind of place. They did have really good service though. I took out of town guests with me as I had eaten there when it first opened and the food was very good. On this night we ordered stuffed crab and potato skins. Both items appeared to be frozen, packaged, microwavable items. The stuffed crab was spoiled as it had a very sharp, sour flavor and was inedible. The potato skins had been microwaved so long they had the consistency of beef jerky. The one high spot was the server. She was pleasant, helpful and apologetic for the quality of the food. She told us that she does not eat at the restaurant. With drinks the meal came to approximately $70. I tipped our waitress well as she was the only saving grace of the experience and had no part in preparing this disastrous meal. I will not be back. read more

They need to learn about customer service and provide accurate information on their website. First visit: Seated outside, all the tables being bombarded with flies aggressively. Flies landing on the tables, the food, the drinks, they were everywhere. We cancelled our order, the owner came out and tried to convince us to stay, saying the flies weren't their fault and he hated for us to to leave over something they can't control. That the health department told them no traps were allowed. Still made us pay for our two drinks also. How about this? Offer to hold a table for us inside once the next one is clean and available, don't beg us not to leave over something you do have the power to control. Next visit, called at 7pm asking if they could hold a table for my wife, myself, and two friends. The girl on the phone said no, and that it would likely be a 30 min to 1 hour wait. I explained what happened last time with the flies, and she said "sorry we don't hold tables" Didn't care about our previous poor experience, didn't think to get a manager about it either. So the ONLY reason that we rated this a 4 star is because I was so disappointed they didn't actually have Pirogues on the menu. other than that we had a pleasant experience. The place is equipped with its own daiquiri machine so there is quite a variety. We had the Cooyan...very coconut-y and just up our alley. For dinner we split the 318 Beer Can chicken and Rice. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare and I'm not sure what they cooked the zucchini and squash in but it was great. I devoured it. I'm used to my steaks being over cooked. These were not ! Looks like this is a newer spot in town. Some friends that live around the area suggested trying it out. This restaurant looks like a con spot to hang out, with TVs by the bar and outdoor seatings. I loved that they have SO many different types of oysters if you're an oyster fan! You can do a dozen and pick 3 types. Overall, I would say that everything tastes okay. A lot of the dishes, especially the Parmesan oyster, is over flavored, to the point where it's a little too salty for me. I got half the dozen of it and it almost was too much for me after 2-3 oysters. But they do have some cold beers you can wash it down with. read more
