I think hands-down this is the best ribs I've ever had! Big disclaimer is that I've never had BBQ in Texas so I don't know if my thoughts would change once I do, but I've had plenty of famous BBQ joints in the two coasts (Phil's BBQ in San Diego, Dino BBQ in NYC), and Big John's had the best ribs I've ever had in my life. I came with my extended family during vacation after the Horseshoe bend, and everything we had was delicious - from the cole slaw to the pulled pork to the sausage to the potatoes - but by far everyone's favorites were the beef brisket nachos and the ribs. The ribs were falling off the bone and so tender, it just melted in my mouth. I personally got the sampler to get a chance to taste everything they had to offer, but honestly just get the ribs because they're that good. Service was solid throughout our time there, although the waiter did forget one of our drinks, they were quick to fix that when we reminded them. I am very sad because I don't know the next time I'll be in Page, but I know that this will be a must stop if I ever do! read more

The place has a cool vibe but in my opinion you can never, ever trust a restaurant/bar that has beer signs and bar lights for non-domestic and import beers of which none can be found on the drinks list. Food is good, not outstanding but pretty good. Had better ribs and briskets were a bit too much watery. Bad experience was about service. They have an inside and outside patio. Inside was pretty empty but they seated us outside and with a shared table with other people. Waitress that took the order and bring the bill just did a completely mess. For some reasons without even ask, she assumed that we were all together. Food was brought completely different time, my friend ate like 30 mins before me but the best was the bill. Bill was strange expensive and when I asked they said no no is correct. After paid, I checked the bill and was too high so the waitress she billed to me the full amount. After, instead to give me cash the money that I paid more, she void previous transaction and did a new one. Doing so my first bill money were pending for 5 days and could not be use. Pretty good place! They were all out of fries and mac and cheese which was disappointing but the beef brisket salad and the beans were delicious. Here is my personal review of this place: 5 stars for music and festive outdoor seating, its unique and fun 3 stars for service since it's slow in taking orders 1 star for food, huge disappointment . Friend had recommended this place so it was already on my list. Went after spending the morning at Lower Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend and we worked up an appetite. We were greeted as we approached the counter, given menus, and told to pick a table and someone would come to us. Peanuts table-side was great to snack on while waiting. My boyfriend loves BBQ so I've been to my share of establishments and this one is at the top. Both meats were tender, never dry, smokey, and flavorful. I wished I could've tried the pulled pork since the meats we ordered didn't disappoint. Their BBQ sauce also steps up the meal. It's sweet and tangy with a little kick of spice. After we finished, my boyfriend wished we had ordered the full rack of ribs as it was that good. Oddly enough the thing that surprised me the most was the beans. We stopped in Big John's BBQ for dinner tonight. The aroma was mouthwatering!!! It smelled so good...so good that I think it smelled better than it tasted. We had bbq beef sandwiches with cowboy beans, potato salad, and chips. The food was good. It really was, it just smelled so much more tasty than it actually tasted that it was disappointing. The service was friendly. So friendly that our server brought another guest's dog a bone and bowl of water. Unfortunately, I could not see her wash her hands. It's possible she used sanitizer, but I'm pretty sure she served and pet a dog, then served guests, and brought our ticket before she went inside where she could have washed her hands with soap and water. This is a nice stop for lunch, at dinner they have live music I hear. The food is pretty good, I had the pound of pulled chicken. Last night we decided to eat at Big John's. We had no problem finding street parking and as we walked over heard that they had live music (on a Thursday night). The Indians and Cowboy Band were decent and covered good country music songs. We went inside and found the menu at the counter. Inside was fairly busy and somewhat stuffy so we opted to sit outside. The pork was very delicious and almost melted in your mouth. I added the coleslaw onto my sandwich and it made it even better. My boyfriend really enjoyed the potato salad. A good mix of smooth and chunky. Definitely would recommend this place. They have both an outside area to eat and inside. It looks like there's bands that preform outside on their stage at night. The pork rib was a little better. Had to use the bbq sauce to give the meats extra flavor besides the smoky taste. We stopped in here on a Saturday late afternoon so they weren't as busy as they probably were later in the evening. I didn't see many servers so assumed they have the same issue hiring help as most restaurants these days. However the staff they did have ran their tails off. They managed to be attentive and helpful and still wait on everyone in a timely manner. We both had the baby back ribs plate. The ribs were tender and juicy. I didn't care for the baked beans or the coleslaw. They were both rather flavorless. Hubby had the baked beans and potato salad and said they were "okay". We sat on the patio which was really nice but they are located on a busy intersection and there were a couple of really loud cars that kept racing up and down the street revving their engines. If you have had Kansas City BBQ (Jack Stack or Q39), you can skip this place. Actually, if you want food that has any semblance of flavor or service that goes beyond a McDonald's drive-thru, you can skip this place. The BBQ here was bland like they just chucked the meat straight from the butcher into the massive grill/smoker out front without any seasoning whatsoever. Not sure what the smoker does, as all of the meats we got had no smokey flavor at all. We needed to drench all of the meats in our sampler plate (with the exception of the sausage) with the default BBQ sauce that's out on every table. The only palatable thing here was the nachos, and only because it had jalapenos. Any bites without jalapeno were as bland as the BBQ. Our waitress could not care less. Not once did she ask how we were doing. Just took our orders and disappeared for the rest of the meal until it was time to give us our bill. Fortunately, a young male server (who was not assigned to help us) asked if we needed anything and blessed us with their spicy BBQ sauce which he retrieved from the back. We wish we'd gotten this sooner, as it was the only thing decent about this place. Not once were our waters refilled. Not once were we checked on except for that one-off by a guy who wasn't our server. This eatery caters to tourists with their quirky decor covering all the wall space and bottomless bins of peanuts but fails to deliver any flavor where it counts. read more
