Whenever I have time to spare, I pop into TJ Maxx to browse and always come home with something…read morenew. This store is pretty big and laid out well. It can, however, get bottle necked in certain aisles when people have carts and don't scoot over to let you pass. I also like the fact that they have streamlined their check-out so you don't have to jockey for a register. It absolutely runs smoothly and no one gets upset because they are behind someone with a return or a lot of items. If they check-out line does get long, I hear them paging for other sales associates to come to the front to help. One thing I have noticed in my past visits are how friendly the sales associates are. I had at least 4 say "Hi, Thanks for shopping at TJ's" when they walked by me and the cashiers also seem to be happier asking me how my shopping experience was, did I find everything, etc. I don't know what training TJ Maxx is giving their employees, but it appears to be making a huge difference. I decided to take a look at the beta fish because why not and noticed they are in pretty bad condition. There's algae growing inside the cups, that doesn't happen over night, and a lot of feces. Not only that, but the betas look EXTREMELY UNHEALTHY. There is one fish that's upside down, not dead, and cannot stay under the waterline. I'm assuming it's some sort of bloating. Why are you guys selling betas if you're not caring for them properly? I did notify one of the employees and he looked at me like "what am I supposed to do about it?"

My experience at my local corner spice store was positively pleasant. While this visit was to pick up a waffle iron (our old one was donezo, and we just made homemade maple syrup from sap from our own trees) and to get some supplies I needed for work, we did take a look at the regular grocery shelves and they seemed well stocked. I did see a grown adult cough without covering her mouth while we were there and couldn't help exclaiming: "You're an adult ... Cover your mouth when you cough!" How on earth are we supposed to get our kids to cover their mouths if adults can't even do it? It's frustrating to see businesses bending over backwards to keep thier customers safe and some people still being so cavalier about protecting others.

I went to this store where I usually shop but I had gone to the Grandville store 1 hour away. The…read morecashier at the Grandville store charged me for two things I had told her I didn't want. She gave me one and I took it back to the Kalamazoo store as a return. I told her about the charge for a utensil holder (blue) that I didn't get but got charged for it. I went back to the Kalamazoo store the next day because instead of a credit I received an another charge on my credit card for the items I returned. She charged me again for the item. Which I gave back to her. Seasonal employees aren't trained well and the Kalamazoo/Portage manager was extremely rude to me. They only have a 30 day return policy at this store which I thought I'd give my business to instead of. Macy's but that won't happen again.
