Our family took us out to eat for dinner and this was one of our options. When my husband's aunt said prime steak house. I was worries it was going to be a more upscale place. As we weren't dressed to the nines. We had jeans and tshirts. This place was laid back. Almost like texas roadhouse vibes but still different. They have oysters for apps and they have other shareables. We went with the fried green tomatoes. They were good. The breading was thin yet crispy. Top off with some ranch. They have a menu with some cocktails, beer, and wine. His aunt and i both had one glass of wine. I did the mascato and she did the cabernet. His uncle ordered the shrimp n grits as thats his usual. The shrimp he just had them grilled and less seasoning. They will accommodate for you. Both his aunt and i ordered the big blue burger. We both went bunless. The burger itself to me with the blue cheese did not need additional sauce. I ordered mine medium, which was fine. I almost wish i said medium rare. The baked potato was good. i tried some of the okra and that was tasty too. We were orig told it would be about a 30 min wait. Which didnt take but 15-20 to be seated. It just took a tad for our food to come out. Otherwise we were all pleased. The girl that waited on us was very kind and attentive. I figured it would be kind to help them get updates photos. Tonight we decided to give 43 Prime another go. We've been here a few times before and always enjoyed their burgers -- they're downright solid. But tonight, we decided to wander off the beaten path and try something new. I went with the Nola Pasta, and my wife ordered the Chef Salad, and let me tell you -- both were absolutely delicious! The place just oozes southern charm, from the mounted deer skulls to the old hand saws, sickles, and what I like to call "vintage farming toys" hanging on the walls. Every now and then, you'll hear a little buzz from the airplanes dangling overhead -- adds a bit of character if you ask me. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. They took great care of us and made us feel right at home. And I've got to talk about those cheese sticks... mercy. They're so good they'll make you wanna slap yo' momma -- but don't do it, she raised you better! Honestly, these might just be the best cheese sticks in Alabama... maybe even the whole South. The dining area was spotless, too. I was half tempted to stake out the next table over, just in case someone dropped a cheese stick -- I was ready to pounce! I ate here after they first opened and it was pretty good. Tried it again about a year later and I would say the steak was comparable to the old Buddy's, ok but not great. I've tried to eat here on at least two other occasions and they were closed both times. The last being this past weekend. There's nothing I hate more than going to a business and finding them closed during their advertised hours. Someone told me that they were bad to do this during football season. If they rely on me for their business, they'll have plenty of time to watch football because I'm not coming back. read more

Recently on December 26th my wife and I went to 43 Prime Steakhouse. The Ambiance is southern down home rustic. The booth we sat in was repaired with some duct tape. Comfortable enough but definitely rustic. We were seated at the entrance and it was cold outside and my wife was cold the whole time we were there. The service was spot on. He was young but met our expectations. The Food wasn't perfect but it was cooked to order and hot when we got it. The steak was comparable to a Traditional cut Ribeye. Just about right for me. Sides were a bit of an afterthought not very generous proportions. The Crawfish sauce was a bit disappointing. Jumbo shrimp, were not jumbo. They were the same size as the shrimp that came with my Ribeye surf and turf. Presentation was typical steakhouse plate style. Silverware is plain cafe style, not upscale. Salad was cold and crisp the vinaigrette was exceptional. My wife and I will Definitely visit again because it's one of the better steaks in town. We'll be back sooner rather than later. read more

No wait for a table at 5:30, the server was attentive and welcoming. The house cab was good, better because it was 1/2 off on Wednesday, and my wife said her burger was good enough. I ordered the 14oz ribeye, there is no way this was a ribeye unless it was the lowest grade ribeye I have ever had. Asked waitress to verify if this was a ribeye because it had zero fat and was very tough. I ordered medium and it was close enough on the cook not to complain, usually prefer medium rare but on a ribeye I like the fat cooked. She informed me she would talk with the owner and have him come look. He never showed up and I was presented a bill including the world's toughest fat free ribeye for $30. I get rising food costs, but please don't use sub par ingredients! I would rather pay $35 for a good steak than $30 for a tough sirloin they call a ribeye! This place used to be so good, last 3 visits have been a major let down. read more

I and 3 other adults and 1 child went to enjoy yaws food the staff took us to a booth table. Very small told her we needed a table with chairs that was four adults and one child which there was several empty. She told us no we can't sit out those tables only leave this booth and I'm looking at the children and saying nope this ain't gonna work so I went to the staff and told them we need a table. If not, we will have to leave and they said yes we could put you at a table and they did we had an awesome waitress very nice, but I ordered the catfish and wasn't that great put it that way like it was frozen and very thin. They ordered steaks two of steaks. They weren't good. They were tough so no it has been a while since we've been to 43 prime and we won't go back enjoyed the waitress though left a nice tip. read more

Came to 43 prime several years ago and order a prime rib. It was cooked to order and very tasty. I did not need any extra sauce like Heinze 57 or A-1. I revisited 43 Prime and ordered the Prime Rib again. It was cooked to order but, the steak had no flavor. I don't know if the restaurant swapped to butter as a seasoning but for some reason, the steak was not as flavorful. The restaurant doesn't use a dry rub or wet rub. I finished the steak but was not impressed with the lack of flavor. I would return for the service. Our waitress check on us frequently and we never had an empty drink. read more

Almost passed this place up for bigger chain steakhouses in Tuscaloosa but glad we stopped. One thing I want to make clear...the previous reviews must have happened on a bad day/night or under different management. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and were cut to industry standards for the cuts we chose. My husband will drown a steak that has no flavor or the wrong flavor in A1. He did not even reach for it tonight. I particularly like the "toppings" option for the steak and the fillet I had was better than I have had at white table cloth 5 star restaurants. The wait was pretty short as well for a 6pm on a Saturday. The only reason I gave this 4 stars (and I wish I could give 4.5) was the seating. This is a small restaurant with limited seating and confusing parking as it is shared by a bar on the other side of the restaurant. I was almost scared away by previous reviews, but I'm glad we decided to take a chance. This is a place that we will definitely visit again and I hope this review helps with their overall rating because it definitely is worth more than what one or two negative reviews did to it. read more

The service was A+. The food was an F-. My party ordered 2 filets that were not quality meat. One steak was butterflied without asking. I have never seen a filet so thin, you could not even tell there was bacon around it. The prime rib (our reason for coming here) was also not a quality cut of meat. After cutting the prime rib there was literally 3 bites of meat I could have eaten. The remainder was all fat. They did cook me another one and it had more edible meat on it but overall it was clearly a huge disappointment. The service was great, the appetizers were great, but the meat was not. read more
