Brought my girlfriends car in to get the oil changed while we were on vacation there. They ended giving us a huge list of things wrong and how it was 'urgent' to fix and said "bring it back when the oil light comes on". We drove the car back to Texas and it was perfectly fine. We then brought the car to a trusted mechanic and laughed at the list and said it was all perfect fine and they DIDNT EVEN SCREW THE OIL CAP BACK ON. Our mechanic said they could've done it intentionally to bring it back to the store. Our mechanic did no work on the car when we brought it back to Texas simply because there was nothing wrong. read more

I came in to have my winter tires changed over. I had an appointment for 9:30am and expected to be out of there quickly, since it should only take a half hour. I waited over an hour before they took my car back. They said this was typical! I don't understand the purpose of an appointment - especially an early appointment- when the service doesn't start for an hour. Appointments should be prioritized over walk-ins if appointments are accepted. Everyone was nice, which is the only reason for the second star. read more

The driver side rear tire indicated a low pressure so I called to make an appointment. A fix a flat service does not warrant an appointment, just first come. I drove straight over and I was told it takes about 45 minutes and that they would call me when it was done. I was called under 45 minutes and retrieved my car, fixed, parked, and done. My keys were handed over to me with a smile and another tire problem fixed. I have popped in several times, different tire issues, all were taken care of in a timely manner. Had to get two of my tires replaced and went here. Overall, there was great service that was fast, I also appreciated having all of my options explained in advance prior to payment and did not feel pressured into any "extras" (which, as a female, I feel like other places try to take advantage of you at times). The employees were patient and knowledgeable and let me know of upcoming things with my vehicle to look out for, and what things won't need fixing or replacing anytime soon. "Why would we offer you a discount if you are never coming back?" As a preface, this is the first negative review I have ever posted about a business. I used to work as a mechanic. I do all of my own work on my vehicles, with the exception of reprogramming, engine machining, and alignments as I no longer have access to the tools to preform such tasks. After rebuilding the front end of my truck, I needed an alignment. I called around to all of the great shops in Boulder, and unfortunately, Big O was the only business that was not booked out for a week. This is a lengthy one, so for those who just want to know why to avoid this place like the plague... TLDR; They incorrectly aligned my truck, wouldn't offer me an apology or any sort of a discount on the alignment after having to come back later that day to have it corrected, and had some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced in this industry. I went in later that day to get it fixed, the writer seemed much more interested in watching his Instagram or Youtube than to even glance up as I walked in the door, as it was playing loudly on his phone. I told him that my steering wheel was crooked, that they neglected to check the caster swing, and they had input the wrong truck into the system the first go around. Without apologizing, and without making eye contact, he said " Ok, we will re-align it, it will take an hour" Ill admit, I scoffed at the hour estimate, knowing that the rack was open, and an experienced rack guy could have it in and out easily within 30 minutes. (it was essentially already aligned, with the exception of the steering wheel which involves loosening two bolts, turning a turnbuckle, and tightening two bolts), to their credit, they did take it for a test drive. An hour later, the writer hands me my keys, and says "Ok, its aligned again", still without even a simple apology. I walk up to the desk and asked if there was any sort of a discount they can give me for my inconvenience to which he responds "What do you want?", I respond, "Well, what can you give me?", he again responds, deadpan, "What do you want?". I tell him how I would like the alignment comped, as it was performed incorrectly the first time around, and I have wasted much of my day getting it corrected, fully expecting him to counter with a discounted price. Instead, he says "No", I then reply, "How about a 25% discount off of the alignment", in response to this, he throws a 25% future purchases card onto the counter, saying hes not going to discount the alignment. I then said "What good would this card do me If I am never coming back here again? I would like a discount on the alignment that you preformed incorrectly". To which he responds "Why would we offer you a discount if you are never coming back?" I would never return to Big O even if they offered me free alignments for life. There are so many other great shops in Boulder- Barnsley, Hoshi, and Chan Foreign Car to name a few, it is well worth the wait to be scheduled in at a reputable shop rather than a tire chain with awful customer service and inexperienced wrenches. read more

This is my first review ever. Felt I had to get this out there to help others. Sorry for the length. I'll summarize at the top. Details below. - A tire installation company who doesn't carry spare parts for an F-150. - Sent me off with wheels that were clicking and not properly balanced. - Told me on second installation that the TPMS would not fit these rims and were causing the clicking and I'd have to use standard valves. - "Forgot" to put my TPMS in the parts box that they returned to me. Had to ask separately and return to pick them up. - Went to Boulder Valley Auto to have other repairs done. They were able to install TPMS but noticed two of mine (that Big O handled) were broken, and found a third laying uninstalled in one of my tires! Read on for further details or just be wary of these guys. Detailed: Bought a used pair of after market rims from a guy with the same truck as me. Brought them in to have Big O switch out rims. After mounting and balancing the tires on the new rims, they called to say that the lug nuts that came with the used rims didn't fit. Ok, that's on me with the risk of buying used parts. They said it would be a day or so to order lug nuts that fit, and be about $120. I then when to Discount Tire down the road who had some in stock for $55. Problem solved!? Then next day I came back to the rims installed. And "ready to go". Before I was even out of the parking lot, I noticed a clicking noise on every tire rotation and my '"low tire pressure" lights on. I looked down and saw that the weights to balance the rims had been stacked so high that they were hitting the calipers! I spoke with the manager who said he would rebalance but that I was also missing another part to properly adapt the rims for my truck. I asked why he didn't tell me this before mounting the tires. His reply: "We just install the equipment you give us." As a professional who specializes in installation of wheels and related equipment, I would certainly hope they would tell me their expertise on items I may be missing! He only brought this up after I paid, started to leave, and then complained about the ticking noise! Turns out, he said he made a mistake and my rims were designed for my truck and therefore didn't need the adaptors. So he'd have the wheels rebalanced (again) and returned to me by end of day. Later he called to say that the clicking had to do with the tire pressure monitoring systems (TPSM) in each rim. These rims wouldn't allow for them without causing that clicking and that standard valves were the only option meaning no pressure sensors and a low tire pressure light in the truck. At this point I just wanted my truck back and agreed to take it with the standard valves. I asked him to please leave all extra parts in a box for me to pick up. After getting the truck and the box of parts, I opened the box at home to notice the TPMS were not in there. Another trip back to Big O to pick them up. A week later I went to Boulder Valley Auto to have some repairs done unrelated to wheels. While there, I asked them to check the wheels and see if TPMS's could in fact be installed and if so to install the ones that I had kept. They called later that day to say they got in touch with the manufacturer who confirmed the rims were built to allow for TPMS. Boulder Valley went to install the ones I had to find that two of the 3 they found in the bag I left them (only 3 in there not 4) were broken. They then found the 4th INSIDE ONE OF THE TIRES flopping around uninstalled!!! Big O had just left one of them resting in a tire when they mounted it to the rim while also breaking two of them in reinstallation. They either broke them trying to install and then assumed that they couldn't or they broke them, didn't want to pay to replace them and flat out lied to me about if they could even be used and then likely "conveniently" forgot to put them in my parts box when I came to pick everything up hoping I'd never know. And to boot, Boulder Valley charged $20 less for the whole installation! read more

These guys are so shady! Yesterday I came in to get my oil changed and tires rotated, and they told me I need new air filters and rear brake pads and rotors. I told them that I got new filters last time I was here, a few months ago. He looked it up, and sure enough, they had replaced them. He said, "Oh, I'll have to check with them about it. They should be fine." Then, I told them that they've also replaced my rear brake pads and rotors semi-recently, and SURPRISE, when he looked it up, he saw that they had done that work to my car as well. This makes me wonder if I ever needed those things in the first place... I have a wonderful mechanic who is honest and trustworthy, but I was still coming to Big O for the basics. Never again. So, this morning on my way to work I noticed that my steering felt weird. It turns out that one of my tires was completely flat. I got it pumped up enough to drive back over to Big O. Now they're claiming there was a nail in my tire, but I find that hard to believe. I also don't trust these guys considering they have tried to rip me off on more than one occasion. I had another tire issue a couple years ago the day after I came in for a tire rotation, so this is not the first time this has happened. I know multiple people who have had similar experiences with this place, and despite their warnings, I decided to give them another try. I wish I hadn't bought my last set of tires here, because now I feel obligated to come here to get them rotated. The funniest part was when I was walking in today, I overheard a conversation between a dad and his daughter as they walked out. She asked, "Why do they do that?" And he replied, "Because that's what they do-- they lie to try to make more money." Yep. Couldn't have said it better myself. read more

Courteous, but oblivious. Went in for removal of an obvious screw in my tire and they 'repaired' the wrong tire. After returning they fixed their error, though the initial 'repair' of the incorrect tire caused a bead leak and an eventual flat 2 days later. Will not be returning until their score improves. read more

So I really can't speak specifically to any of their mechanical work, or the prices of the tires, or to their selection of tires, or anything like that. However I had a really pleasant experience with them recently and I feel compelled to leave a positive-leaning review. We had some friends come into town at 9:00AM on a recent Friday. Thursday night I noticed the low-pressure indicator come on, and I refilled the tire with air. Friday morning at 7:15AM I went to check the pressure-- it was low again. Not good-- we needed the car for a road trip to Mesa Verde we had planned with our friends that we needed to leave to pick up in less than an hour. Big O Tires was one of only 2 places in Boulder open that early. I took the car there (now 7:25AM), they immediately took it back to examine the tire, found a screw, and patched up the tire, handing me the keys back at 7:50AM. I would have paid $100 to have that done in the time they did it and at that hour, but all of that was done at no charge to us. The road trip went smoothly and the tire continues to remain inflated. I know this is not indicative of much else, but it helped us out so much in a pinch, and our road trip would not have been as successful had it not been for them, so 4 stars. read more

We had a flat on our ambulance with 19" wheels and Keith had us back in service in about 30 minutes when nobody else would even touch these larger wheels (even to install a spare). They got out the largest jack I'd ever seen, put on the spare and repaired the flat. Great work, great customer service. Went back the next weekend with my wife's car to get new tires I was so impressed. read more

My girlfriend took her car here to get 4 new tires. I went with her to pick the car up and they said they did an alignment as well and put it on the bill. I had to remind them that this is not how it works! A garage must call the customer first to get authorization to perform additional services. Our family was on a road trip from Minnesota, and started to get low air warnings for one of our tires in Estes Park - late on a Saturday. Not ideal. We pumped it up & crossed our fingers that we would make it to Boulder (where Big O was open on Sundays). Upon our arrival, Big O got us right in. About 15 minutes later, they told us they found a nail, patched it up, and that we were ready to roll. Best part - this was all FREE OF CHARGE. They just said, "Come back and see us next time you're in Colorado." We were thrilled with their expediency and awesome customer service - so much so, in fact, we vowed to write a review to let others know about our experience. read more

He knew exactly what to do and had me back out on the road in no time. Very friendly but don't be fooled. Got a flat so went to Big O to get a new one, they said I had to buy four new tires. Then a few weeks later my two front tires are flat. When they put my new tires on they cracked my valve. Now today I'm back because my back tires are flat, probably more crack valves. I only came back because they will "fix" it for free but I shouldn't have to keep wasting my time every week! I also got suckered in to changing my air filter and they forgot to put the screws back it to keep it in place! What a joke! read more

I've been going here for a couple of years. Recently they said my struts needed to be changed but they themselves had just replaced my struts a year ago! One guy there said that his boss was really pushing them to tell people to replace their struts. Now I wonder if they even needed it the first time... Now I read that they are telling other people to change their struts when it is not needed. read more

I took my car here for new tires and breaks. While they did provide quick service and were very accommodating, they lied about my shocks needing to be fixed. I took it to my dealer later to discover that the shocks were perfectly fine and didn't need to be fixed. Big O tried to rob me of an extra 300+ !! So angry. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE UNLESS YOU WOULD LIKE THEM TO MESS UP THE ALIGNMENT ON YOUR CAR! We have a 2018 CRV which they "aligned" for my husband. After driving the car for the weekend, the car was EXTREMELY loud on the road. We brought it back on Monday and they informed us that the back was out of alignment and "that sometimes happens." Ridiculous, especially since the car was just serviced by the dealer back in July and the tires were fine and so was the alignment. read more

Do not ever, under any circumstance take your car here for tires or repairs. The staff is friendly enough, but they are all completely incompetent! A few months ago, I took my car in to have them put on my summer tires, and thought I would save time and a trip to the dealership by having them also replace my axles. That was the worst decision I could have made. For one, their computer system was down and they accidently charged my credit card twice, and after numerous calls into the shop and stopping in to talk to them about it, and them always telling me it would be reimbursed promptly, they never credited my card back. I had to dispute the charge through my credit card company in order to resolve that issue. Secondly, when they replaced my axles, they damaged the transmission side seal, resulting in my transmission fluid to steadily leak. I was unaware of this leak, until my dealership pointed it out to me a month later. I have since gone back to Big-O on two separate occasions to get them to fix the problem, and twice they have claimed to have fixed it, but two months later the seal is still damaged, and the fluid is still leaking. I am beyond frustrated, and I will never, ever again let them touch my car! Please learn from my mistake and don't let them touch your car either!!! read more

I prematurely wore out a tire by leaving dirty ice in the wheel well. Went to this Big O store in a bit of a rush, where they told me they'd replace the two tires in 45 minutes. After 40 minutes, they came out and told me I needed to replace all four tires and that it would take another half hour. FAIL! I went to BARNSLEY Tires on Folsom and Pearl--they just gave me a used tire as a loaner (15 minutes elapsed time), then quoted me a lower price for better tires than these jokers. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a tire store. I came in with two blow tires on rims and had them replaced with relatively cheaper tires. I thought the total for it was high, but paid anyway. Then I saw the receipt and saw that they had automatically added a Tire Protection Plan! They hadn't even asked!! WTF?!? When I pointed this out to the sales person they just shrugged. When I brought my car back to get a third tire replaced, I was very specific, only replace the front tire! The rear tire was a brand new Michelin with almost no miles on it and would be fine with the other tires. I left the car and went to grab lunch. When I came back my car was ready, but instead of replacing only the front tire as I requested, they had replaced both front and rear tire. WTF?!? Fine, I said, give me my old tire back, I'll use it as a spare. After much consultation, the salesperson insisted that the tire had been scrapped and that the scrapped tires had already been picked up! What a load of crap. They stole my tire and refused to give it back to me because it was worth twice as much as the ones I had put on. I will not only never use this location again, I will never use Big O Tires again. They are thieves and crooks!!!! read more

I went back in to Big-O after getting a nail in my new tire, even though I was dreading it. I told the gentleman who greeted me about my past experience (in the nicest way) and he did what he could to make sure this time was better. It was. The wait while they repaired my tire was reasonable and everything is in good shape now, the tires are even properly balanced! Oh and the repair was free! Still scarred from the initial visits, but they did redeem a star on this one. read more

Took my car in to get an oil change and cabin air filter replacement. Was the cheapest option out of a bunch of places I called in the Boulder/Longmont area. Service was very quick, done in less than an hour. They also rotated my tires and checked the pressure for free. But, they told me my rear struts were leaking and needed to be replaced along with an alignment for more than $700. Took my car to my regular, trusted mechanic, only to find out that the struts were in fact not leaking and did NOT need to be replaced. Good service overall, but BEWARE of extras they try to add on to your initial service! read more
