WARNING regarding MIDAS on 60th Avenue and Bell Road. 7/24/24 UPDATE: We have spoken again with Mike Des Marais (Regional Manager) at Midas regarding the damage that was done to our 2019 Toyota Tacoma at the Midas located at 6021 W Bell Rd in Glendale, AZ. Unfortunately neither that location, nor Midas in general, is willing to fully compensate us for what it took to restore the exhaust system due to the damages incurred at this location. NOT ONE PERSON from the leadership of the Midas location that this happened at has EVER reached out to us. In summary, OUR ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM NEEDED REPLACING DUE TO MIDAS WELDING A NON-COMPATIBLE METAL REBAR TO OUR SYSTEM, EVEN TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS! This was supposedly to provide theft protection. The cost to repair was just over $3,500. Three other mechanic shops validated that it was Midas that did the damage, and all quoted within $150 for the repair cost. We truly can not understand the lack of concern for righting the wrong that has been done to us. Also, don't be fooled if you see that Midas "reached out to us" in any comments on Google Review or other sites. They only reached out to say that they are NOT going to pay for the cost it took to make the exhaust system whole again. This was the Regional Manager (Mike) that denied any just compensation, so don't think that it is only the 60th Avenue & Bell location that doesn't care about treating their customers fairly. I can see after every complaint that this is Midas' way of causing others to think that they are resolving issues. Don't be fooled! Here is what I sent to the BBB. The BBB have responded and said that they have sent my allegations to the shop and are hoping that they will respond. Here's the BBB complaint: I am reaching out regarding damage done to my 2019 Toyota Tacoma catalytic converters and exhaust system on 7/11/23. This damage was incurred through the negligent installation of a supposed security measure for preventing the theft of my catalytic converters by Midas Muffler, located at 6021 West Bell Road, Glendale, AZ 85308. Not only has the methodology that Midas used been determined to be useless in aiding my attempts to protect my vehicle, Midas did irreparable damage to my exhaust system by burning holes in multiple places in their attempt to weld a piece of rebar to my system. I have three other mechanic shops who have verified this in writing for me. The actual shop refused to have a representative come to my mechanic's shop (which is only five minutes from their location) so that my mechanic could point out what they were seeing and why they believed it was Midas' work that caused the damage. In summary, I paid Midas $100.00 to protect my exhaust system and instead had my exhaust system irreparably damaged. Making my truck's exhaust system whole again cost $3,540.91. (End of BBB complaint.) I have downloaded two pictures. I have several more pictures but these two give you the idea of how they just took a piece of rebar and attempted to weld it to my entire exhaust system. I was informed that not only is this methodology worthless in stopping a thief, the metal that this rebar is made of was not compatible for welding to the type of metal the exhaust system is made of. This is probably what caused the mechanic to continue with too much heat, which caused the holes, as they attempted to make an incompatible weld. I have never posted anything like this before but the absolute disregard and rudeness received in trying to get this resolved demands others to be warned. read more

Service here was unbelievable and not in a good way. Rob doesn't know how to treat people with respect and doesn't know how to take accountability for his actions either. We were left carless all because they decided to close their shop early, only texting one time not clarifying at all that they were closing prior to their said business hours, after claiming to have "called and texted repeatedly." When we asked for corporates number and for camera footage time stamps, if available, Rob disregarded the questions. He then proceeded to say he put in his files to reject us if we come to his location in the future. When I replied back saying we didn't plan on it, he then replied back with: "Does it look like anyone's talking to you?" Which was very disrespectful. I suggest take your money and go to another location who cares about their customers enough to communicate better with them! read more

I wouldn't recommend going to this location--Carls Car Care is in the same lot and seems to be a much better choice. We tried Midas for some repairs on our car and ended up being blamed for their mistake. It cost us hours of our time and much stress to sort the matter out. Here's our experience: We had recently purchased a new car battery, but when the battery indicator light came on within a week of replacement, we knew our alternator was failing. Midas replaced the alternator, but there were still a few indicator lights activated on the dash after they were done. We told them these weren't on before that morning and said it must be something that happened during installation, but they didn't want to consider this and decided to only check the battery instead. They diagnosed that we had fried our sensors by jumping our car incorrectly (which simply wasn't the case since we hadn't jumped our car with the new battery and, again, the lights had only turned on that morning- and we told them that). They would not listen to us and insisted they had done everything right and told us to take our car to the dealership to repair the computer board on our own dime and time. We went to the dealership, and within minutes they found the new alternator had been incorrectly installed by Midas (it had been forcefully plugged in and the prong for the sensor had bent flat--see picture in review, thank you Honda for providing it!). The result: our car couldn't detect the alternator, hence the lights being lit on the dashboard. Honda couldn't fix the part without voiding the warranty, so they recommend we return to Midas once more for an obvious and simple fix. We returned to Midas, they bent the wire back in place, and we were sent on our way. No apology or anything. Midas had been careless, untrusting, and unwilling to doublecheck their OWN work. This cost us hours of our time and undue stress, especially since we were blamed for their mistake. The staff and management here are not the kind of people you want to deal with. I was expecting to drop off my car and have to kill some time at a coffee shop next door. Brought my car in for a simple fix, I already knew what was wrong with it before they started the job. After being charged almost $3000 for the job, my car is in worse shape. It's making a new noise that I never heard before and everyone in the shop was lying to me saying they don't hear anything I took the master tech with me on a drive and he heard it instantly! Not to be trusted with your car. Another technician was lying to me saying it was part of the exhaust (which the master tech denied upon hearing the noise himself), tries to show me a video from his phone and accidentally showed me his marijuana plant instead. These technicians are all too stoned to tell apart a catalytic converter from an oil change. My oil is not due for a change for another thousand miles and they were trying to say that's the reason for the noise I'm experiencing. What an absolute nightmare. read more

Had them look at my exhaust several times before taking it to them as it was custom work. They stated they could do the it so I made the trip down to leave them the parts. Got a call the next day stating they couldn't do it as their welder was uncomfortable making a 90 degree bend where instructed. Epic waste of my time and any good welder would have knocked out out of the park. Poor service for a customer that has always take his cars to them - very disappointing. 07/11/17 - I wish I could give negative stars. It happened again. After having to contact the fire department and having my car towed to this location I was reassured that they had my leak fixed. Well, it wasn't. I went to fill my gas tank on 07/11/17, after their repair, and once again I was greeted by the sight of fuel leaking from my car. I opted against the rigmarole of having to call the fire department AGAIN and just drove the car there myself. I was asked to speak to the manager in the service bay, presumably so the other customers in the lobby wouldn't hear about how badly they screwed up, and was apologized to and assured they'd fix it this time. I got my car back the next day and topped it off. No leak. So far it seems like they've finally got it right. Only took four tries. I've transported not only myself, but my young son and siblings not knowing that Midas' shoddy work was putting our lives at risk. And now I'm wondering about something else. This whole thing started because I could smell fuel, obviously a leak. Their initial fix of replacing the pump didn't fix the issue. Was that even a necessary repair? Did Midas rip me off in addition to performing subpar work? I'm definitely escalating this. I'm not going away until someone answers for this. read more

Today out of the blue my car decided to show me the check engine light and was running really rough. Immediately drove to Midas. As I waited for my Uber, Manager Rob looked at my car and said he thinks he knows the issue. He confirmed his suspicions, ordered the parts had it fixed. All of this in 2 hours. I had a bad experience with Kerry's Car Care 2yrs ago(different car) out $1500 and the problem never resolved. I cannot express my gratitude for the Exceptional Service and honesty I received. This is the second time im just not impressed with this location. Last time we had a random tool to change the oil left in our vehicle. This time they seemed to rush threw looking over our vehicle and a random part of our engine was mysteriously broken, which We found when we brought our car home. We brought it to their attention and "they don't know that would of happened". I feel the workers are over worked and rushing threw jobs or maybe purposely breaking stuff to get more business I don't know I just don't feel like I can bring my vehicle here anymore. Had two water pumps and a radiator fail within two years of installation at this Midas. One I would say it is a coincidence, but two water pumps, one a year and a month after installation and the other two years offer, this is not a coincidence. Radiators and water pumps will wear, but should last at least five years, if not much longer. I used to trust this Midas, but do not make the same mistake I did. read more

Went to this location Saturday to get an oil change and the first thing they said was I needed to change the cabin filter even though I just changed it a couple months ago (recommended once a year) but the guy still tried selling me this as if I was stupid enough to do it, second they forgot to reset the oil life to 100%, third I looked under the hood and saw that they put windex rather than windshield wiper fluid, lastly as soon as I turned on my car to leave the tire pressure gauge came on and my partner checked it when I got home and said all four tires were low and he had to go fill up the air to all four tires. I had no issues with them before, then as soon as I turn on my car in their lot it comes on. Horrible service! Never coming here again! UPDATE: Was also told by the front desk clerk that if I chose the synthetic rather than conventional it would be 5-7k whereas if I chose conventional it would only be 3k. Found out that was a lie. What a horrible way to sell your products and make more money. Been also waiting for a response from Midas after they tried reaching out to me through this review and have heard nothing! read more

Well it is a Midas. Both myself and girlfriend have had work done on our cars here. They are pretty honest and fair about prices and trying to help you out when it will be a large job. They actually show you the parts and why it is bad. Paul the manager works almost all the time, and you can tell he cares about the location. Small cons are the oil changes seem to be routine given the price and what is listed as the "checks". Also our car was taken in with a check engine light and a specific part that would have cost $400 to fix at Midas. After looking on Autozone.com the part was found for $70 and installed with one screw. They had it listed as an hour part. I was not happy to find this out. Overall though one of the more honest repair shops. read more

I don't trust these guys at all. I took my truck in just for an oil change. I provided them my own preffered oil and OEM filter. After I got my truck back, I took a look for myself and noticed that they did NOT use the filter I provided. Instead, they used some other product which clearly is not what I had given them. However, this was never brought to my attention and my OEM filter was never returned. Coincidentally, my aftermarket tailgate lock magically disappeared, too. I am not saying that this business stole my tailgate lock but this is very suspect. Proceed with caution. read more
