Recently went in to get tires mounted on a one off set of custom 3 piece wheels. They were very careful to take great care of my wheels while installing new tires. A few other shops refused to do the install out of fear of damaging such high end wheels.I am very pleased with there service, price and level of customer service i received. The manager Tony goes above and beyond to insure each customer is fully satisfied and well taken care of. I will only use them as truly stand behind there work . I have a 2004 Ford F-150 that needed some attention. I always shop around but when I spoke to Terry on the phone I knew I found the right spot to take my truck. He was friendly, honest, and super helpful. I brought my truck in right away. I live in Ceres so it was a drive, but worth it. The overall experience turned into multiple days, but everything I was concerned with was taken care of. Purchased 4 Michelin Ps4s tires and a synthetic oil change for my GTI today, the tires are a lil hard to find in stock locally in my size. Tony ordered the tires from Sacramento and had them installed the same day that I called Big O Tires. The Big O employees were friendly and courteous and helpful. I appreciated the auto tech showing me exactly what was wrong with my one slightly bent wheel on the wheel balance machine and going over a visual inspection of the wheels condition on the car before the repair was started, the wheels were even wiped after the tires were installed. The actual car work is OKAY overall, but the staff and location practices are ANNOYING. I've been here a few times over the years and each time I remember why I avoid this particular location. It's a headache trying to get anything done here! First off they don't make appointments, it's first come first serve. Don't fool yourself into thinking you'll get a spot when they first open. After waiting a ridiculous amount if time they'll take hours to get a simple service done. A oil change and tire rotation shouldn't take 2+ hours after I've already waited 2 hours. If you can't perform work in a timely manner tell me so I can take my business elsewhere. The long wait times must be why the majority of the clients are old retirees who have all day. Modesto isn't a town that lacks car care centers so I suggest going somewhere else, anywhere else if you don't want to waste an entire day getting simple car maintenance taken care of. read more

Went here Monday morning before they opened to get tires balanced on rental vehicle I had. First car there and was told they need authorization before they can do the work. I call enterprise to let them know and the rep tells me he will call them to get it rushed thru, rep calls me back and says can't get thru just voicemail so I see the guy I talked to and tell him the rep couldn't get anyone on the phone he just blows me off and says well I'm the only one at the counter and we are a little busy and I have a line backed up now, I'm sorry but I was here before anyone and balancing 4 tires would not take that long and I am sure that enterprise is in good standing with your company. The guys energy completely changed from our first encounter to the last for whatever reason. So I just got my keys and took it to another shop. Took my car in due to a whining noise from the left front wheel, sounding like a wheel bearing going bad. the tech looked at the car and said the wheel bearing was fine. However, he did say I needed new brakes and other front end repairs that may be the cause of the noise. Twelve hundred dollars later I took the car home with the same noise. Took it to another mechanic who replaced the wheel bearing and the noise was gone. Never again will Big-O touch one of my vehicles. read more

Poor Data Policy - I don't know if this is prevalent throw-out of Big O facilities. Service employees stated that they lost their data a year ago -- that means data was gone. That means that that they have poor policy of availability. That means, they have poor service. As an Analyst myself, we call this company not exercising due care and careless as hell. Best tire store in Modesto! They have an awesome new alignment machine that gets your vehicle "dialed in", and they align front and back. When installing new tires, the balancing is excellent, too. And they have really good prices. The guys at the front counter are very knowledgeable and try to provide the best advice for each customers needs. read more

Found them on Groupon paid for an alignment and then Made an online appointment for the alignment for Friday 3pm showed up 15 minutes early and was told that they were too busy and that they are not approving my appointment and that I would have to come back another day , asked them when would be a good day to come back they said Saturday, I asked about Monday , they said no problem lots of appointments open for Monday, I asked about noon on Monday , he said no problem you are scheduled for Monday at noon, I show up today at 11:45 am I'm early for the appointment they set, i let them know that I'm here for my noon appointment, they said there all booked up and it would be 3 pm at the earliest and probably even later than that , I ask what happened to my noon appointment , they say that it's been busy and some people showed up late and that I should just leave them the car and they will hopefully get to it later, I let them know that I can't just leave the car how would I get home and I'm not going to be standing in the sun in the parking lot for 3 4 or 5 hours waiting, I could understand that there running a little behind but 3 hours! they need to start calling there scheduled customers to arrive later and not waste our time read more

I am very unhappy with my experience at this location. I made a 3:45 appointment to bring my car in for an alignment (purchased through Groupon). I arrived early & was told the tech was at lunch, to return no later than 4:15. I returned at 4:07 and was told that they were 'backed up' and would not be able to work on my car!!! What is this unprofessional mess?????? The guy COULD have told me when I arrived early that they were having problems, OR he could have taken my phone when I set the appointment and called me before I drove all the way to find out they don't have their act together. His best offer was to tell me to return tomorrow!!! Seriously???? I took the time off work TODAY!!! My advice - go someplace else. This store has no concept of customer service. I gave it one star because it's the only way I could continue this review.This is a place that we went to for years......until the last time. When Senior ran the place? Excellent service. Now that it's been passed down to Tony? They need lessons in customer service and knowledge of tires! Tony doesn't care about customer satisfaction. We bought new tires all around. When I took it on the freeway I could hardly keep it straight. Vibration was terrible. Unfortunately I was on my way to the airport to catch a flight. Long story short, the car went back two times, with no success in solving the balance problem. On our third visit, they decided to tell us the problem was our car. Brakes, etc Really??! Took it to McCoy Tires the next day. The problem was fixed in 20 minutes. Big "O" gets a big ZERO in my book. read more

I ordered online to receive a $100 discount. They confirmed my order and my appointment including the discounted rate, however refused the discount in person. The only reason I got tires here was because of the discount, which they refused. The customer service rep, Kevin, is clearly new to customer service. He would not even look at the invoice I was sent by Big-O. He claimed that he couldnt honor the discount because the website us a nation-wide website that doesnt represent their store. A plastic part was broken during my oil change so I placed a call and explained what I found and spoke to Tony who took immediate action and asked me to come in. I went in and explained and showed him and with no pushback he said he would order the part and take care of it. He checked if Nissan had the part in stock first so I wouldn't have to wait and he got it for me within 10 mins and installed it. Tyler was also very helpful and educated me on how to read my tires and what to look for. As well as providing knowledge on batteries! We were driving back home from vacation when we hit a pot hole on Highway 5. We just bought our new tires from Big O in Healdsburg so we decided to go to the nearest Big O store for help. We arrived and found out that our tire was not in stock and we would have to wait until the next day. I explained that we needed to get home that day and we only had a donut type spare tire to get home on. The manager was so great. He gave us a used tire in our size and mounted and balanced it for us so we could make it home. I asked how much I owed for the service and he said how about a hand shake. What a great guy and service. I can't thank him and Big O enough for bailing us out if a bad situation. I will continue to be one of their customers. I have read some of the other reviews on this store and can't understand how the experiences with them can differ so much. I give them a 10. read more

Writing this a review after waiting to 'cool down'.... Big O used to be the premier place in Modesto to take your vehicle, providing nothing but excellent service. Key words 'used to be.' I took my vehicle in for an oil change using a Groupon purchase. When indicating my preferred oil, I was told they used a different brand and I couldn't use my groupon purchase if I wanted the named oil. I cancelled my Groupon, asked how many quarts I'd need, was told 2, which I questioned but the guy on the phone said, 'Yes, only 2.' I purchased the 2 qts. of oil, went in for my appt, and was told that he meant 2 5-qt bottles. I ended up having to repurchase the Groupon so I could get the work done as my appt was already scheduled around my job. Then they decided to rotate my evidently brand new tires (still had nubs, installed the week prior). I asked why they rotated brand new tires, to which they replied it was a free service. First question, aren't you guys supposed to be tire experts??? I was then told that I had a small oil leak, and they could do a dye test to locate the leak. I paid the extra to have this done, and scheduled a f/u appt to have the leak checked. I went to my f/u appt 5 days later, scheduled at 8:30 am. They didn't even open the doors for work until 9:00, saw 2 people ahead of me who didn't even have appts. Second question, why bother making appts??? After finally getting my car up, they indicated that I didn't have an oil leak, but possibly a power steering fluid leak. I'm a girl, and not a mechanic, but 3rd question, isn't the color of power steering fluid residue different from the color of oil residue??? The answer is yes, one is red and one is black. Last question, aren't you guys smart enough to do a towel wipe check for color of the leak??? Seems so simple to me. Anyway, I sadly suggest you look to someone else for car service, and possibly even for tire service. Oh, last thing, the entire time I waited for both appointments I witnessed that all they do is up sell to people on the telephone, expressing that the up-sell is a better buy in the end. read more

Was there for an hour and saw 3 shady sales techniques . 1. They put a higher price in the invoice than what they quoted me. 2. Told me I needed an alignment just because I got new tires. THis was not true. 3. Whenever anyone walked in with a coupon, the standard response was "I can charge you more than full price for the tires then take off the coupon amount or we can get you in to a tire that is better and cheaper" Seemed like a scam .
