After reading the reviews I was reluctant to go to them, but my boyfriend insisted, because I needed them rotated and he thought 1 was looking worn. When they took my tires off, they had me come look at them because more than 1 was looking worn...in fact there was steel showing on 2 of them. I have nothing but the highest of compliments to give. Went in for an oil change and tire rotation but they forgot to rotate my tires. I was told I needed new tires but still had a reasonable amount of tread left. I was told I needed to change my air filter but had just gotten a new one a few weeks ago. They also left the air filter compartment half open (I'm guessing so they could cover up the fact that the air filter wasn't dirty and it could get dirty faster this way). Would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone, all they want is your money. read more

I almost got taken for $820.00 told me I needed my rack and pinion steering rack replaced said i needed to replace it ASAP since if I continued to drive my car it could do more damage. My car is a 2010 Ford Focus with 16890000 miles a mechanic friend of mine told me that it did not make sense because of the year of my car and the low miles so I took it to Salida Auto Repair they checked it and found it to be loose bolts total cost $25.00 inspection fee. I wonder how many other unsuspecting customers have been ripped off there. I would not recommend any one taking their car there. read more

There are lots of tire shops willing to take your money and give you good service, these guys are just willing to take your money. For the premium prices that Big O asks for their products you would expect to have premium customer service. This isn't the case at this particular store. After three attempts to have my tires rotated i ended up going somewhere else and paying $20 to have it done in 30 minutes. My first two attempts were cut short because of their 3 hour wait time due to "short staffing". Management at this store is poor, rude and they lack an understanding of good customer service. This store is busy, but i suspect that's because the other Big O's in town have closed their doors permanently. With the management they have in place currently these doors will be closing also. Unless its very convenient for you to use this Big O and you don't mind the rude demeanor at the front desk and wait times, i'd keep shopping. I'll never spend another dollar at Big O. read more

Tony is the worst. He may play-off like he's on your side, but watch your wallet. He'll find something to up-sell you on. On a warranty issue or problem, he'll try to place the blame on something you did. He is usually rude and short. Judge for yourself. Be aware, he is somewhat bi-polar in his behavior. One day he's your best friend, the next day, he doesn't know you. Go to America's Tire, or Costco. Much better branding, treatment, warranty, etc. Never again, Tony. Never again Big-O. read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS LOCATION. I've had nothing but problems from this Big O Tires location on Mchenry Avenue. I decided I needed some new tires for my Mazda Miata, two rears. After looking on their website I decided to call and get some advice. I called and the guy said they would call me back in an hour because they were super busy. It was understandable so I left my phone number along with my car details. Three hours went by and still didn't get a phone call. I finally called back and a the worker apologized and went on to suggest tires. He seemed to know what he was talking about, but he kept offering tires that he couldn't get ahold of. Finally we found some Yokohama tires which he HIGHLY recommended. He said he would be able to get them by tomorrow morning at either 8am or noon so I should expect a call by 1PM. The day went by and it was soon 3PM and I still hadn't received a call. I decided to call and they told me to come down and they'd get started. I went down and dropped my car off, and left to carmax to burn some time. I received a call 20 minutes later asking "We need the key to get your rims off" in which I responded they don't need a key, it's a simple 12 point socket. The worker said "Okay we will take a look". They called back and insisted they don't have the socket for it, and that I need to "go home and get one so they can remove the wheel". I was pretty furious at this point because how does an auto shop not have a simple 12 point socket. I went back to get my keys but before that I told them that it's ridiculous, I could literally go to walmart and buy one for a couple dollars. I told him to go check one more time and WHAT DO YOU KNOW they found one. He then proceeded to tell me "Oh yeah that's not a normal socket and auto shops usually don't carry it" which was a load of trash. Finally I get my tires, in which the worker didn't offer me ANY warranty plan AT ALL. I even asked him before I left "What kind of milage can I expect to get out of this tire before I need to change it" and he said "These don't have an estimate, as long as you don't drift they're fine" which I felt was extremely unprofessional, and I could tell he was annoyed by me. So now fast forward to two months later, I probably have only driven the car less than 1,000 miles I noticed the tire was flat in my garage. I then aired it up and noticed a bubble was forming on the tire. I immediately stopped airing it up because thats obviously a huge fault, as I was removing the tire it blew up. I figured I'd be fine under some sort of manufacturer warranty but as I came into the store today they told me "It looks like someone cut it, so it's not covered." Are you kidding me? I literally drove the car maybe 800-1000 miles, and you guys are not going to cover it because "It looks cut". How unprofessional is that. I had my breaks serviced 3 weeks ago. A week after, I complained of the the break pedal getting a little deeper and loosing the break effectiveness. This time I was told its normal. Just drive it some more and it will go back to its original condition. After a week its getting worse, so I came back but I have to make for appointment 4 days after. I made an appointment for Mon 8:00 AM . I arrived at Big O tire on Mon 7:55 AM. My car was taken in at 8:05 which is good. An hour later they told me that they need to bleed the break line or do a break flush. I ask which is their recommendation and guy said break flush and I agreed. 10 minutes after they called me in the bay and showed me a leaky part. Guy told me he will check the price and let me know. An hour after, I was not still informed of the price. This is unbelievable and uncacceptable. Grrrrr. Its now 11:30 at this time now they are telling they will replace the master for another 147$. This location is my permanent go-to spot. I've always trusted and appreciated their work, fair prices, and customer service, but my most recent visit, they went above and beyond. Tyler in particular (huge THANK YOU!! for all your help). They corrected multiple wrongs from a local competitor. They were very upfront and honest with their findings. The "bad place" had my car for 2 weeks and messed it up worse than when I took it in. These guys had it less than 2 DAYS and showed me all the damage from the "bad place" and gave me all the replaced parts as proof, something the "bad place" did not/would not do. I really appreciate the integrity of these guys. They truly care about their reputation, and most importantly, their customers. Keep up the awesome work. I came to this location on the recommendation of a client so no surprise that the service was excellent. I arrived with a staple in the sidewall. Despite the store closing for the evening they offered to fix it at no charge because they're Big-O brand. After inspecting the tires the tread-wear was to its limit, which I verified. I took my 2010 VW Jetta into a shop in San Francisco in November 2016, for regular servicing. I was told at that time that my rear shocks were "weeping" and that I needed to replace them the next time I came in. The car had 33K miles on it so I had doubts. In February 2017, my "Service Time" light came on. I found it was odd since it wasn't time for anything. Also, the symbol for low tire came on. I called Big O as I had bought tires and wheels from them in 2015, and was very happy with the experience. I came into the Big O on McHenry in Modesto and explained the lights that had come on as well as mentioned the "weeping shocks". Tony Fleming listened and told me it would be about an hour. Well in less than an hour my car was done. Tony came for me in the waiting area and asked me to come see my car while it was still up on the rack. There were no signs of leaks anywhere! No weeping either. I was very happy to hear this news. They checked my low tire, resolved that. Checked the "Service time" light and cleared that and the cost for this to me was NOTHING! We purchased a used oil pot from Turlock and on the way back to the bay area, we had a tire blow. It was late and we had to park in over night. The next day I called around different tire stores and found Tony at Big O. These tires, all four, had to be replaced as the piece of equipment had been sitting and the tires were not good any longer. They were special tires and Big O had them in another store. They were able to bring them over and install them quickly. We were 3 hours out from our designation, Tony was helpful and thoughtful of our situation. I am a Big O tire fan now and will most likely bring them more business in our area. I like a company who know's what they are doing and kind at doing it. I've used Big O on McHenry in the past and had an average experience. A year and a half ago I purchased new tires there for my Subaru Impreza. I got a flat last week and took it in to Big O to have it patched. The guy at the counter Tony was not only rude but VERY condescending towards me. He gave me what I call "the little lady" talk. (Huge pet peeve of mine) Spoke to me as if I knew nothing about my car or tires. As if because I am a women I wouldn't know how they work. One comment he said to me was "You obviously don't drive this car often", and held up my car lock button at me and said "this will unlock your car for you". I told him that the car is mine and not my husbands, I purchased it and I know what that button does. He then proceeded to tell me that my tire was so far gone on tread it was un-patchable and that because I have an all wheel drive car, I would have to replace all four tires again... I asked him to show me my tires and he said "well visually they don't look that bad"... I told him that there is a very low chance that tires that are only 1 and a half years old need to be replaced and if he couldn't patch it then to give me my keys back. He continued to be rude to me as I left the shop and they didn't patch the tire. Tony is a liar and snake, don't try to sell me new tires when I don't need them! I then went to City Tires on McHenry Ave where they not only treated me with respect, they had ZERO problem patching my flat & rotated my tires all for free. I will never use Big O Tires again. OVERPRICED! First they weren't going to honor a mobile coupon since I didn't print it out. They said tire rotation was included, then said it was $40! So with the coupon my total estimate was $78. I'm sorry, but Midas has done my oil change and rotation for years for $30 total. They had a 2 hour wait today so I thought I'd try Big O Tires. Too many bad experiences here. Bought a few sets of their tires. One blew out on the highway causing significant damage to my car. The other set also wore out prematurely. When I took it in for a "free rotation" they said they were too low on tread to rotate and refused to do it. I said ok then, replace them under the warrantee because they were supposed to last 70,000 miles and I had less than half that on them. Oh surpise they decided to rotate them instead. Junk tires I had to replace later at my expense of course. Had them push for other service that wasn't really needed like brake pads and shocks. One lady had a bubble in her tire like another reviewer said and they refused to give her a new tire despite her road hazzard warrantee. They said it was her fault. So any tire damage is your fault now, what good is the road hazzard extra charge? Another guy had his cadillac damaged, scratched, and they refused to do anything. I had a tiny nail in my tire. They said it destroyed my tire and had to buy new ones. I checked it after it was dismounted and it was like a tiny pin in the inner portion of the tread. They lied and said it was in the sidewall. After showing them again they said it was too close to the sidewall. It was inches away from it in the middle of the tire. Plenty of room for repair. Scam artists. read more
