My faucet was leaking into the area under the sink. I have American Home Shield and they sent Big Orange Plumbing. Tina called first thing Monday, actually before their posted hour to open. She was wonderful and got scheduled for Tuesday morning right away. Right on time Tuesday morning, I received a test from their plumber, James. He immediately diagnosed the issue and quickly got a repair done. I had requested to have the cold water fixed in the half bath, which he corrected quickly too. I had also asked to have all of the sink traps just in case. James finished that off very quickly as well. FYI, I did my part by removing everything from all of the sinks the night before. I recommend doing so, it makes it much easier for them. read more

He removed and carefully examined my disposal and told me that I had a very well made, solid steel garbage disposal. He worked on it for over 45 minutes and was able to fix it. I was very pleasantly surprised when my home warranty dispatched Big Orange Plumbing and Samuel Dienes came to fix a toilet and a bath spout. He was knowledgeable, friendly, polite, and made me feel at ease. He completed the projects without any issue. This is my first year in this house and I am still working on more time sensitive repairs but I will definitely call them when it's time for new toilets, a new water heater etc. Sometimes home warranty send people who aren't great and need the referrals to keep them busy, but here this is not the case. I have a plan through AHS and suspect a leak in my toilet, maybe wax ring leak, I wasn't sure. So I submitted a request and this is the company I got. Seemingly nice person, they were prompt, the person dispatched was nice enough. However, they did absolutely nothing. Took a few picture, couldn't replicate issues (secondary complaint), but for the leak I was told "you would know if there was a real leak" and to just "clean better." Fast forward several months, I had my suspicions it was still leaking. It smelled musty and there was discoloration in the caulk. I eventually shelled out another service fee and had a different company come out. He removed the toilet and confirmed there was a slow leak. But it's sewer water and a remediation company had to come out. The estimate was 1k-2k depending on how far the leak went under the floors. It's a very expensive fix for something that could have been handled a long time ago. And maybe I would have still had the same amount of remediation done. Who knows? But how long was there potential mold building in my home?? Lesson learned, if it doesn't seem right don't take just one opinion, complain and get a second opinion. I wasted that 125$ service fee, paid another service fee, and now I'm look at up to an additional 2k. Do what you want with that information. There seems to be decent reviews, but negative reviews surrounding calls for service with AHS. Do your research, if you don't like the response don't settle for it. Expensive lesson learned. read more

This is the 2nd time that I was MIRACULOUSLY assigned Big Orange Plumbing from my home warranty company. The first time out was for repair and replacement of our regulator. Working with Dean was a pleasure. He patiently explained things thoroughly to me, and was always pleasant to work with. It was a stressful time as there was LOTS of extensive water damage. The work got done quickly and well and he worked well with my warranty company and my homeowners insurance. He also recommended a mitigation company that was also a pleasure to work with (Luis, with Flood Force). Fast forward to last week when we had another plumbing issue and I crossed my fingers when putting in my claim through my home warranty company. I was SO lucky when I was assigned Big Orange plumbing. Dean arrived again and fixed a major issue and then gave recommendations for another fix for a dedicated water line for my fridge/freezer. Again, he was super patient and explained the issue and possible solutions. The quote he gave me was absolutely reasonable and I also got a teacher discount. Run as fast as you can from this company . They tried ripping me off for $750 to install a $28 expansion tank on a water heater that a warranty company authorized them to replace . The warranty company was paying in full for the water heater and labor so installing one 3/4 in t and screwing in an expansion chamber should have taken about 5 minutes . They also tried charging me to replace the pan which was fine and adjust the heater vent pipe which was already there.. they will also not return your phone calls. Tried calling six times in 2 days with messages and not one return call. Piss poor business practice.. Sad you can't trust alot of these companies anymore.. read more

I had a leak and this company just put a bandage on it. Nate said they sautered the pin hole leak instead of replacing the pipe with the leak. SO...9 months later we have a leak in the Exact Same place!!!! This is a difficult job because the leak is behind the behind the wall and behind the water heater which now has to be opened up once AGAIN to fix the leak. Protocol is to replace the leaking pipe which was not done nor was it even offered to me!!! I will never use this company again! read more

Bathtub drain was blocked. Experienced plumber arrived but could not clear the blocked peatrap. On second day again he failed. Old Republic transferred the job to Big Orange. DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY (If I could give negative stars, I would). The company was on a list of vendors approved for our home warranty. Nate knocks on our door, with no prior notice of coming over, to take a look at the leak. He was ecstatic that we called since "he didn't want to sit in traffic over the Altamont Pass" on his way back to the shop in Manteca. After discovering the leak in the floor, he moves around the fridge in our kitchen to see if it was from behind there. He was making small talk about the traffic and plumbing. Then he stated he had Taco Bell for lunch and if we liked it? My mother and I looked at each other and said yes we do. That's when Nate told us that it didn't agree with his stomach. Nate proceeded to asked if he could use our bathroom, then grabbed a hold of his butt cheeks and shuffled to the guest bathroom.... where he was for over 20 minutes! He comes out of the bathroom, and tells us our toilet is now broken and needs to be fixed. He said he would call our home warranty to put in a request to get the toilet fixed. We told him to not bother, we won't be using his services and he needs to leave our home. I immediately called my landlord and the home warranty company to tell them of his horrible behavior in my home. They have since been removed off the home warranty companies approved vendors list. DO NOT LET HIM IN YOUR HOUSE!!!!!!!!!! read more
