Everything was great! Ron escorted us to our pull through site, and even brought us our fire wood. We had a beautiful, shaded site with a nice view and no neighbors, site #51. The bathrooms and shower house were spotless and the water was hot with nice water pressure. I would definitely stay here again! read more

Nicest couple running this place. Clean, great location and super accommodating. We are moving across the country and they let us park our giant uhaul in a camp spot and out front all day. We would definitely camp here again if we are visiting the national park and monuments nearby. read more

This is a great place to camp! The hosts are very friendly and helpful. There are lots of spaces for everything from tents to big rigs. It's nice and clean with lots of shade. The restroom is very nice too. I would stay here often. read more

We stayed labor day weekend. The place was full but didn't feel that way. There is plenty of space between sites. The showers / bathrooms were clean and the service from the campground hosts was excellent. Prices for ice and firewood were cheaper than the local convience store. People were very respectful of the quiet time and overall everyone was really friendly. We had a great experience and will be back if ever in the area! read more

Big Pine is a wonderful campground. It's location is perfect - near the town of Custer, as well as state and national parks that are just a short distance away. It's well laid out and all of the sites have lots of trees so they are nice and shady. The sites have a fire pit and picnic table. The wifi worked perfectly and the camp store had everything we were looking for. The owners and staff were amazing and so helpful. With it being our first time RV camping, the owner, Bill, helped us with backing into the space and ensuring our water and electric connections were correct. Talk about going above and beyond with customer service. Additionally, they will deliver firewood and other items from the store to your campsite. Although we did not need the bathroom/shower buildings, we did check them out. They were very clean and heated also. Thank you Bill, Jen, your family (human and furry) and other staff members. Great campground and the hosts are super friendly. If you are in a trailer site they help you back in and level it out. All the employees are willing to help and happy to talk to you. We most definitely would camp here again and plan on doing so next time we come to SD. read more

Great week-long stay. The owners are very nice and helpful. Reasonable prices at campground store and on-site laundry. Sites aren't huge but are fairly spacious, level, and in a lovely wooded area. Bathrooms were very nice and clean. Great location not far from Crazy Horse, Mt. Rushmore, Custer SP, the Mickelson Trail, and Wind Cave NP. The only minor complaint is that wi-fi was iffy at best. Given all the pluses we would definitely go back! read more

Beautiful campground! We really enjoyed it. LOTS of trees and shaded campsites. If your kids like to ride bikes, it's pretty hilly and was difficult for my 7 year old and impossible for my 5 year old. They still had a lot of fun in spite of not being able to ride their bikes too much. If I return to the area, this will be my first call for a place to stay. read more

This is a terrific campground. The best customer service I have ever received when checking in. The campsites are spacious. There are a lot of trees. My 7 year old grandson is playing with four friends he's made since we got here this afternoon. The restrooms and showers were spotless. You can tell the owners take pride in this property. I sometimes hesitate to write such a positive review for fear that so many people will find out how awesome this place is and how great the owners are that we'll have trouble booking our next trip at their campground due to increased demand. Everything from reservation through to us leaving was excellent. The shower and bathrooms are kept super clean. They are in near new condition. The sites are level. The water pressure in the showers is great and the showers are hot enough for my taste and I love a hot shower. There is a laundry room, game room, ice, and fire wood on site plus a few provisions in their store. When arriving Ron or Angie checks you in then escorts you to your camp site and delivers firewood to your door. Some complained about wifi signals here. We had excellent wifi the whole time. Not that we use it much because camping is our unplugged time. Ohh and I must mention we loved the smell of pine and the sound of the breeze coming through the trees. Grrat views. When we come back this is definitely where we will stay. Close to all the attractions and just a couple miles into Custer. Thanks Ron and Angie! You run a great campground! read more

We had a very pleasant time here. The owners are friendly, the campground, showers and bathrooms very clean. It was nice and quiet. There's not a ton of space between the sites, but there is enough, and way more than most RV campgrounds. Water/sewer/electric were good, campground internet was pretty spotty. It has the feel of a National Park campground but with a few more amenities. We'll be back. read more

This was our first time visiting South Dakota. We arrived on Sunday August 6th and left Friday the 10th. We came with our friends who are also our neighbors. They own an 40 Foot diesel pusher and towed an enclosed trailer that had all our Harleys strapped in very securely. Big Pines RV Camp Grounds in Custer was recommended. I'm so glad we stayed. The owners are very nice and helpful. I was impressed right away. We were greeted warmly and received maps and useful information not only about Custer but other areas and fun things to see and do. I would highly recommend Big Pines RV Camp Grounds. They don't raise their rates during the Sturgis motorcycle rally which is awesome since so many other businesses in the area do. The camp ground is clean and very well maintained. Showers, bathrooms and laundry room were ALWAYS clean! The laundry facility was open 24 hrs which was so helpful. Another really nice accommodation is, if you buy fire wood the owner will deliver it to your camp site. If we return next year we will definitely stay at Big Pines. read more

The Big Pine Campground is by far the best campground we stayed at in the Black Hills. The campground had everything we could want. The amenities were great and the customer service was phenomenal, they brought the firewood to our site each night right on cue! The facilities were very clean and even though we had a little issue with our RV, the kids wanted to shower at the shower hall each night because they were so nice compared to the other campgrounds we had been at.. The owners were great and helped us out as we navigated our first RV trip with the family. Would recommend to anyone! read more

We stayed here for 3 nights and were very pleased. The campground is peaceful, no traffic sounds, sites are pretty flat with fire ring and pickNick tables. There is WiFi but it was spotty at the top of the hill. The owners (Ron and Angie if my memory serves me correctly) were very pleasant and extremely helpful. After a long journey from Oregon to South Dakota we were thrilled to stay at Big Pine Campground in Custer, SD. We had stayed in campgrounds that were very different than their websites and not in a good way. Big Pine was better than what we saw on the website! It was clean, quiet, lots of space between sites and Forest Service property next to the campground where we could run our dogs. They were 20 minutes to Mt Rushmore, Crazyhorse and the Jewel Caves. And the owners were so nice and accommodating. I'm not sure if our travels will bring us back to South Dakota but if they do we will most definitely stay at the Big Pine Campground. read more

We stayed here for 2 nights and were very pleased. Very peaceful. Our site was up on the hill in the back hoping we would get TV reception but there was none. The WiFi was lightening fast so we did a little streaming in the evening. The sites are all pretty level with fire pits and picnic tables. I did check the bathroom and laundry facilities out, all whistle clean. Also the grounds are maintained very nice. I would have given 5 stars but no TV reception. read more

When we camp in the Custer area this is where we stay. It is an extremely clean (even the outhouses) campground. The owners and staff are always friendly and helpful. Their is no better place to have as your home base when visiting the Black Hills! read more
