Found this while searching for something new in the area. Went the night before and they were closed due to being sold out. While I was there they were starting to sell out of things and it was 7pm. Coming from the south when a place sells out before closing... that's a good thing. Means it's actually fresh that day and not carry over from the night before. The place is just off the main drag and plenty of parking around it. We went around 7 and there was only one other couple there but a constant line of people coming for carry out and ordering to go. The chicken was absolutely phenomenal! Her ribs were really good. The Mac and cheese was a white Mac & cheese and was a good different. To end it all they had banana pudding. Now for those in the know, finding fresh banana pudding with real bananas in it in Pittsburgh. Super hard to find. Overall good BBQ I'm Pittsburgh is really hard to find. There are places but the ones that seem to survive can't hold a candle to the south in the terms of BBQ. They are just ok around here. BBQ made by people at home is better. This is the best bbq at a restaurant I've had in 5 years up here. The place is new so they are going to change a bit as they mature. I'm excited to see what else they do in the future. Side note they have fountain and bottled drinks. They had unsweetened ice tea that I do not know if it was fresh made. From how it was it does look fresh brewed thou. read more

Everything here is amazing. So far I have tried the brisket mac and cheese, cheddar jalapeno kielbasa, pulled pork, pork belly, and corn bread. Everything and I mean everything so far has been perfect. Really hope to see these guys do well. The service is fast and friendly and the prices for a 1/4 of meat are incredibly fair. My only complaint is that it is going to take me forever to work through the whole menu because I just want to eat the same great stuff I've already had. read more

Great BBQ and lots of variety. Side dishes at BBQ places around here are hit or miss, but everything is excellent at Big Rig's.

Everything was great, it tasted just like I expected. My favorite was the baked beans. Pulled pork was shredded to perfection and the bbq sauces were so tasty. The Sandwiches come with a side and they have many to choose from. Greens, Mac N cheese and Baked beans to name a few. I also saw cornbread on the menu. My mother and trainer both raves about this place. I'm looking forward to trying the Nashville hot sandwich next time! read more

Absolutely love this place and their bbq. They have a great variety of bbq dishes and sauces. They even have some very unique options for Fridays during Lent. The staff is very nice and helpful if you are looking for some advice. I would suggest the sample platter if there is at least 2 of you and you want to try a little bit of everything. What's for dinner? (Sunday~ March 1, 2020) Smoked Ribs!! I also had a bite of my husband's brisket!! Yum!! This was added to my main meal from Showcase (another BBQ place)!! I wanted to try it plus I needed to compare it side by side!! Meal specs: The ribs are good but I prefer Showcase's!! ‍ As for here, it was Smokey & they gave 3 different sauces to choose from!! They have a mustardy one, a sweeter option as well as hot!! Not bad!! The meat was tender. However, I was looking for more in terms of being able to remove a huge chunk of meat, separate the fat & indulge!! I didn't find much of that!! I don't want to take away from them because they were good!! They were just no match to Showcase's!!! The brisket was tender, not dry & good!!! I just had a couple of little pieces!! That burnt not burnt top was very good!! It's worth another try!! I'm sure that most people would like this place. This new BBQ joint is right off the main drag in Monroeville and definitely worth making a visit. "Good" BBQ in the Pittsburgh area isn't easy to find. But seriously.... Every item on the menu is absolutely delicious. The brisket grilled cheese melts in your mouth and has so much flavor. The twice fried loaded potatoes are fluffy clouds of goodness, perfectly crisped outside, and smothered in cheesy goodness and brisket chunks. The cornbread is the perfect combo of sweet and salty. I cannot wait to go back!!! I'd also highly recommend this for catering and take out. It's right off of the turnpike, so when I travel to see my family in Central Pennsylvania, we can stop and take it with us or pick some up on our way home. read more

This place is comfortable and you're greeted warmly when you come in. They obviously aren't the radio DJ's but they have a great station on. I was checked on while eating. It wasn't busy, but the speed of service still impressed me. The prices were very reasonable and the portion size was perfect. The food: I got the brisket grilled cheese and wow was it delicious. The bread was buttered and cooked just right, the brisket was of course incredible, loved everything else about it, and the cornbread was 10/10. Great quick serve barbecue joint! We went with my daughters softball team and they easily accommodated our large group. The pulled pork and brisket were fantastic. I heard so many good things about their steak sandwich that I had to go back the next day and get one for the road, before we left town. It did not disappoint. It seems like a bit of a hidden gem. Best BBQ in Pittsburgh hands down. This restaurant shows that you don't need to travel to Nashville or Austin to try authentic BBQ. They also have the best cornbread of all time - super moist, strong corn flavor, and cakey. We all loved it! Don't leave this place without it ... The customer service was also quick and the place was super clean, including the bathroom, and the decor was educational which I loved. As you can tell by the chalkboard, they have a huge selection to pick from. I personally prefer the ribs the most and also enjoyed the free meat they give you with every order. We all liked different foods here and so there is something for everyone... We don't live in the area, but came in for the Sportsman's show, and decided to try some place local and new. We couldn't have picked a better place to try. My husband and I are big fans of BBQ, and this was hands down the best BBQ we've had in a long time. While we didn't have the typical sampler, what we did have was absolutely amazing. Oh and the cornbread, best I've ever had! We ate in, the dining room was very clean and comfortable, and everyone was super friendly and helpful! Stopped in on 3/29 for some take-out for dinner. Ordered the Brisket, Kielbasa, Mac & cheese, Slaw and Pudding. They hit it out of the park! Brisket was exactly what I was looking for. Asked the counter for a fatter cut and the kitchen came thru! Slaw had the perfect acidity balance to the meat. The Mac and cheese was creamy and had a great flavor. Almost for about the kielbasa. Crispy exterior. Full meat flavor inside. Nice touch with the pickled onions and cukes. Can't wait to finish all the meal and enjoy that dessert. This is usually our go to barbecue ribs place anytime we're in Monroeville. However, on a Thursday when we picked up a takeout order, our food was extremely salty and overseasoned to the point of being inedible. We ordered their special bourbon bacon burger with fries, a pound of burnt ends and half a pound of baby back ribs and Mac and cheese. When I say the fries and burnt ends were so salty we literally couldn't eat them and had to throw them out. It felt like such a waste of $70 and I wish I had tried some of the food before we drove home with it. I couldn't believe how much salt was on the food, extremely disappointing. read more

This is one of the better BBQs in the Pittsburgh area. For me, it's better than Walters and equal to or better than Blowfish. I've had Mission a number of times in York and loved it, so I'm interested to see how they stack up to Big Rigs. The prices here are a little on the high side, but once you dig in you know it's worth it. One of the best pulled porks I've ever had. We usually order out with a group of people and have a kind of smorgasbord. The service was great and fast when we ate in the restaurant, but seating is limited. read more

I can't get enough of Big Rigs. They're not your typical BBQ joint where everything comes smothered in the same sauce. Every item on the menu has its own flair. I've never had anything that wasn't exceptional. I was always more of a saucy type BBQ person and ribs were just kinda meh to me, but the ribs here are now one of my favorite foods anywhere. Even if I don't get ribs for my meal, I have to get some to go. Also HIGHLY recommend the brisket grilled cheese, Nashville hot chicken, corn bread, and street corn. I found this bbq joint just recently and have ordered take out on multiple occasions since, very pleased!!! The ribs are nicely smoked and tender. Pork belly is divine. All of the sides so far are all very flavorful and tasty, we have been ordering different ones each time. The corn bread tastes like a dessert.
