My wife and I are older, so we don't use the waterpark much. However we LOVE going to the special events! We went to both the Pumpkins After Dark and the Christmas events. Big Rivers is great about offering reasonable pricing for families and they sponsor many nights where they spotlight groups, offering deep discounts. Parking was free. Finding a good parking spot was easy. If you got a special event, bring your walking shoes because there is a lot to see and do. Lots of activities including a petting zoo, carnival rides, axe throwing, inflatables, and more. We like that they have none of the carnival midway games that take your money for a modest prize. They offer lots of food options ranging from carnival fare like funnel cakes to regular food. Prices are what you would expect. The staff is pretty friendly, lots of young people but enough of the older folks to keep things running smoothly. Overall, it's a relatively inexpensive way to celebrate the holidays, giving you lots to do, see, and enjoy without breaking the bank. read more

Pretty cool, fun spot for all to enjoy. We went on the Waterpark day where tickets were $25 and the place was packed! Luckily people were finishing up and leaving by the time we were getting settled in. Good to know: You can bring an unopened/sealed water bottle or an empty reusable bottle and get it filled with ice and water inside. Free parking is available at the second entrance and the walk isn't bad at all. There are locker rentals in the bathrooms but also at 2 other locations near the pool chairs. There's only 1 family restroom, that I saw, and the stalls aren't large enough for changing clothes privately and comfortably. So come dressed and leave with an extra dry towel or swim cover lol. After going through the check in we put our things on the pool chair and got in the lazy river. After tubing around we got in line for the water slide. Then we finished up at the wave pool. All were fun and not overwhelming. There were enough pool floats to go around. And the staff were keeping the place clean. Afterwards we grabbed a personal pizza & soda from their stand which weren't too costly. They also have a BBQ restaurant available too. The only unfortunate parts was trying to eat with the yellow jacket bees around. There were so many getting on the food and drinks. And the bathroom not having private changing areas. There were amusement rides available too but we didn't have time for it. Upon leaving, the guy that's often seen on their social media posts (I don't know his position) was waving and saying goodbye to everyone. First time coming out was for some free tickets a friend had received, second time was for a Halloween event. I'll sprinkle a little bit of both into it. The waterpark itself is a very small compared to other established parks. It wasn't insanely crowded, which was nice, but definitely caters t the younger and tinier clientele. If you have wee little kids, they'll love it. It has a nice layout, and they also have amusement park rides (non-aquatic) as well. Again. not Astro World, but definitely something the kiddos will enjoy. They do have holiday themed events. We went for the pumpkin and light shows. That was actually very cool. I don't want to know how many pumpkins were slaughtered to create the artwork, but the creativity was off the chain. loved it. It was spooky spooky, and they did have a haunted house, and a Pans labyrinth-esque maze, but again, mainly geared towards the very wee crowd. Absolutely family friendly spot to take the kids. Can't say price-wise, as I was lucky enough to have a free ticket. Concessions are what you would expect for a theme park both in quality and price. They have two lots. Last weekend was our first time going to this Waterpark. Overall it's nice, small and perfect for a family day. Everything was going well until lifeguard "June" decided to be rude and aggressive towards my kid and I. I was letting my kid, who is 2, play around in the polliwog puddle attraction since I was sure that my kid wasn't going to go down the slides (since I've previously tried making them go and didn't want) so my family members and I were just keeping an eye as they were playing around. I'm guessing my kid had a brave moment and decided to go on one of the slides. This time there was no line and of course the lifeguard couldn't do anything at that point because my kid was super fast and excited and slid down. As my kid goes back, a family member decided to be behind them to make sure they were okay. Once again, my kid beat our family member and slid down the slide and the lifeguard missed it again. Please remember it's a Waterpark, it challenging for people to walk fast, especially older people! This time, the lifeguard told my family member that they were suppose to wait in line. Keep in mind there were usually two lines, one for the (3) slides that were next to each other -pink,orange,blue- and another one that was a bit further down, which was teal. Of course our family member asked why they were suppose to be in that line when the line was only for the teal one and my kid wanted to go one of the (3) and no one was making a line for, it didn't make sense. I saw the incident so I decided to go with my kid because they wanted to keep sliding down. This time again, there was no line for the (3) slides! But I still tried to grab my kid to wait, but my kid beat me to it and decided to sit, so I let them but I was still grabbing my kid (because I knew I was suppose to let the lifeguard tell me when to go) The following is still hard to explain because I still feel outraged by what happened and no one seemed to care. So as I'm trying to catch a signal, the lifeguard runs towards my kid and aggressively grabs their arm!! I tried pulling my kid away from June but she was still holding on to them as she was yelling at me that we had to wait. I asked why, there was no line, and she tells me that she is suppose to check that it was clear (which I totally understand and that is why I was right behind my kid, holding them back so June could tell me when to let them go) and there was no line for those slides, but she kept yelling at me in front of everybody in the line and she still wasn't letting go of my child!! (Parents, I'm sure you all know how un dignifying and incompetent I felt since I really couldn't do anything to stop June from touching my child like that) At that point, with a knot in my throat I asked her if my kid could just go, so June would stop hurting my kid. My kid was showing signs of distress at that point. She lets my kid go, but my child doesn't know any better, my child was excited and wanted to keep going. I decided to not let June ruin the fun for my kid, but I felt like I had to carry my kid to wait, fearing that I could have an accident and fall since my kid is pretty big but I wanted to avoid another incident with June like that. My kid is pretty young and doesn't understand about patience and waiting times yet. Thankfully everything went smooth after that but i still felt scared that she would try to pick on us or tried hurting my child, because they were other smaller kids "skipping" and sliding down with no proper signal and she wasn't telling them anything. She would make eye contact with me and smirk which made me feel even worse. I'm honestly not even complaining about the smaller kids skipping, and although I understand the safety measures on why lifeguards are suppose to warns us about stuff but at the same time there has to be some type of understanding because they are children. We love Big Rivers. It's so many parks all in 1. The have the water park which includes a lazy river,water obstacle course, wave pool, water slides for all ages, splash pads and more. The have the amusement side which includes rides for all ages, games such as axe throwing, a maze, rock climbing obstacle. They have a petting zoo onsite with real animals. They are very strict about what you bring in, you can't even bring a bottle of water. But they have concessions onsite to purchase food and drinks. You can lock your belongings up in the lockers for safety or they have plenty of lounge chairs you can use as well. They have a gift shop on site to purchase any swim needs that you might have forgot at home. They are pretty expensive, we needed a pair of swim shoes and they sold for $22. I enjoyed this park because of everything it offered, we will be back soon! read more

Why 4 stars? Because there was plenty of fun to be had for a short 4 year old. --- --- --- Our son loves going to the pool and has really enjoyed when we've taken him to waterparks, so Big Rivers was on our list for a while. There are four of them in the Greater Houston area, but this is only the second one we've been to. We definitely liked it more than Splashtown, but TBD on how it compared to Texas Typhoon and Schlitterbahn. The pro's: Our son is just about an inch or two shy of the magical 42" mark. When we first arrived, we did a few of the slides on the Gator Splash, but were told that four of them were off limits because he was not tall enough. We were really bummed out because of this, because A) These slides were basically the same as the others that he was allowed to do. B) He was literally about a finger nail below the required height. And C) He is an amazing swimmer, so there was no danger as far as we were concerned. Fortunately, when we came back to Gator Splash later, there was a different lifeguard on staff who allowed him to go. And he loved them. In addition, he also really enjoyed Hatchling Hill. Most of the slides there were pretty slow, but he made the rounds through all of them about 4-5 times. The con's: People are not exaggerating when they mention the hot concrete. It is legitimately so hot, it's not safe for bare feet. Our son even came away with a blister from it. Just the walk from some of the slides back to our chair where my sandals were was awful. You will notice that most people just wear their sandals everywhere and will hold them when they go down slides. It seems like some tree coverage would alleviate a lot of this problem, but there is hardly a single tree on the property. We ordered a chicken tender basket for our son for lunch. Some of the chicken was literally green inside. I would have gone back to ask for our money back, but our son was tired and grumpy at that point, so he really wasn't eating anyway. Still, I am not sure what was going on with this chicken, but it did not look remotely edible or safe. Overall, there are plenty of great rides here, which is the most important thing. My advice is to wear some kind of water shoes everywhere and don't eat at the concession stand if you can avoid it! read more

This was my first visit and it was pretty pleasant. I came with my boyfriend on a Groupon. It was a nice , simple drive from the city. There is a free and paid parking option. The free lot is a nice distance away. We opted to pay $20 for the closer lot. There was security in the lot which made us feel pretty secure. They only take cash though, that was a bit inconvenient but we hustled up what we had. The park wasn't crowded at all and they were open until 10 pm. We decided to go a little later to avoid the crowds and it was a good choice. I was disappointed that the tube slides were not for single riders. I was also disappointed that they do not sell liquor, only beer and wine. We got a plate from the BBQ spot and it was pretty tasty. I loved the beans. I started off a huge fan of this Waterpark. However, our last couple visits have been lackluster and what pushed me over the edge was their discrimination against people with disabilities and then blocking me from commenting on their Facebook page after asking about it. They have 4 parking spots marked handicapped in which they CHARGE you for, if they're even available. We witnessed others needing the spots as well, but they charge you $20 to park in them. If they're already taken, they offer you free handicapped parking on the other side of the park or you can pay $20 to park close. We waited 40 minutes in line for a hamburger and fries, other people said they'd waited an hour for their food. The park itself was dirty. After seeing the shape the wave pool was in, I made my kids get out. Lots of things floating in the water and the water itself looked cloudy and dirty. The slides in the kiddie area have waterlines and algae and need a good scrub down. So sad. We live close and had bought season passes since our neighborhood doesn't have a pool, but Splashtown is cleaner and actually has plenty of handicapped parking they don't charge to use. The rides and attractions are enjoyable, but the food service is absolutely horrible. Expect to wait 30+ minutes just to place an order at any stand. Most of the workers are very young and clearly overwhelmed by the high volume of guests. What's even worse is that the park doesn't allow outside food or even water, leaving guests no choice but to deal with the long, frustrating waits. It's a real shame that a company of this size can't see they are severely understaffed and are overworking the employees they do have. The result is unhappy staff and even more unhappy guests. This is a major flaw in the park experience. Pack your patience -- you'll need it. read more

When you first turn in it doesn't look big but there's A LOT going on when you get inside. Definitely recommend the VIP parking for $20. It's going to get you in the parking at the front versus the free parking is a little hike. No outside food or drinks but we scored some free sweet tea hidden away towards the back that was delicious and perfect for this Texas heat. We had planned on going back to the car to grab drinks and snacks but let's face it no one wants to go back in the heat to do that so we ended up eating inside anyways. We grabbed food at the Barbecue joint and although portions were small it wasn't bad at all. A little pricey but decent. We got there around noon on a Saturday which is 1 hour after it opened and they were already out of their refillable cups which was a bummer. As for the entertainment they had plenty to do that we didn't get to fit it all in the 6 hours we were there and most were pretty fun. The inflatable obstacle course was down for a bit due to a broken inflatable but after taking a look at the grimy green water it was in most of our party passed. Our youngest of our crew braved it and they said that when they had their feet in the water that weeds and crud were stuck on their feet. The ground is SUPER HOT!!! It does appear that they are now allowing water shoes so bring them or a good pair of flip flops. Make sure to walk around so you don't miss anything. If you go towards the back you'll find the archery, axe throwing and mini goats which are adorable! Well this year seems slightly better in the drink department, however, I haven't been on a buddy pass day yet, so not sure how that's been. But in the weekday the drinks stations are enough. I was hoping they would have added just some water stations but they didn't. A big change they did do was to remove all the tables with umbrellas and make you pay for those and then leave lots of chairs without shade! "Awesome. Good job big rivers" I usually just have to resort to sitting in the picnic tables under the big pavilion, the other rows of chairs are too tight to fit under the shade that is there. I just don't understand why it's that much more expensive to add more shade. The lifeguards, are, well, meh. Last week there were three lifeguard gals dancing and doing cheer routines while the little kids were sliding down by themselves with no lifeguard around. At the big climbing tower I did see one lifeguard taking her job seriously, that I appreciated. This place is very family oriented. My kids enjoyed the huge water playground they have. They have a variety of other attractions like a lazy river, wave pool, ax throwing, archery, petting zoo, and zip-lining...etc We made the best of our time there despite the cons outweighing the "pros". Disappointed considering the price you pay and the endless rules/policies they have. Firstly, you're not allowed to take outside food or drinks including water tumblers unless they are "clear". Which means hot water always, regardless of the endless water stations available. They do offer souvenir cups that have refills priced at $1; guess what, they ran out of those at 1pm hottest peak of the day. Secondly, There's a slide area for kids to use and like other reviews mentioned, there was that one young guy with dreadlocks who was passionate about rules. Stated he was not allowed to permit parents to catch their children at the bottom of the slide. I respect that he doesn't want to "get in trouble", but I was infuriated when my 3 yr old reached the bottom to find him looking the other way. My kid can't swim, she choked on water and struggled to get up. They aren't allowed to wear life jackets or shoes in this area either. Get more employees here, one per slide if necessary! Thirdly, Children were not allowed to wear water shoes in the playground and slide attractions. This needs to be addressed! The concrete was scorching, we had to carry our kids back and forth to prevent skin burns. This didn't make sense at all. Lastly, lines were extremely long for food (burger) that was overpriced and mediocre at best. We waited in line for 20 minutes just to find one cook and two other employees talking to one another offering no help. Regarding other staff members and employees, although they were young, many were very helpful and respectful. I appreciated their polite and kind manners. I also appreciated that while there, we saw someone actively testing the water several times; im hopeful that it was their standard procedure and not due to a complaint . We had a blast. The kids really enjoyed themselves. I would suggest trying to rent a cabana with this heat wave we have been having, or go early to get a shaded area that is free. We rented a pavilion, the large one in the middle of the park for our family and friends day. This was a plus because the heat index was 110-113. They offer season passes, but we had a single day ticket that included food. There are plenty of places that offer a variety of snacks, refreshments, and food. Just take your pick. We will definitely be back, but I will make sure I get a cabana. The cabanas have a small fridge from what I could see and a ceiling fan. The best part, it allows for plenty of shade. read more

We love this place and had got season passes mainly for the toddler slides but yesterdays trip left us pretty pissed off. We were at the kids slides and I approached to catch my child. The lifeguard whose name is Gabe said I couldn't even though we already had done it most of the day and other times as well. He said he'd catch her and I reiterated on how to catch her and even motioned with my hands. Well this incompetent kid Gabe didn't catch my child, he instead let her fall in the water as I screamed to pick her up. He grabbed her arm as she had already started chocking and freaking out after being submerged. My kid was crying and was very distraught. Good Waterpark although could use some improvements. Park is big and spacious. Although nice and courteous, some of the staff seemed to have no idea what was going on. For example season pass holders were supposed to get in 15 minutes prior to opening yet when asked upon arrival staff had no idea which line was for general admission and which line was for season pass holders. Minor mistake. The amusement park rides section seemed to still be under construction but rides were working. However some rides had no staff anywhere to be seen but a sign hanging on the entrance door stating to wait for a staff member to arrive. We waited. We waited...and waited some more under the hot sun (90 degrees that day) and still no one bothered to come by and let the kids on the ride. A staff member working the ride next to 360 just stood there and never offered to find another team member to help the line of kids waiting to get on. My frustrated 9 year old just wanted to leave after awhile. The food was also a bust. The pizza was bland, their soft drinks they offer no lids (my 5 year old is clumsy so I was worried about her spilling her drink). The popcorn was stale and when I tried to take it back the girl working the counter had an attitude about it. Would be nice if they had more trees and benches in the park to sit in the shade. Went here for Labor Day. It was super hot that day, so we were glad to be able to cool down at the waterpark. Great for kids. Lots of area for kids to be entertained. Plenty of high water slides and smaller ones for the smaller kids. There was a wave pool and a splash pad. Besides the water park, there is an option to participate in with non aquatic activities like an obstacle course and a rock climbing wall and a zip line. My husband did the obstacle course and said it was challenging. My 9 year old said it was easy and did it 3 times. For a national holiday, I would say it was not busy at all. There was hardly any lines for the tall water slide, which was great! I would suggest wearing watershoes when coming to this water park because the asphalt gets really hot. No outside food or drinks, but you can bring in empty water bottles to refill at the water fountain. Food and Drinks were the kind of usual. $10 for a tender meal and $10 for a beer. There is upclose parking for $20 by the entrance or if you park on the left side lot, it's free. It's a little of a walk, but not bad, it's free. read more

We decided to take advantage of the $20.20 ticket and $99 cabana special. There was a group of us that reserved 2 cabanas. Pros: We had fun. It was not overcrowded. Our server was nice. There was a lot of staff walking around. The lazy river was relaxing. The wave pool was spacious. The Waterpark is spread out. There's a petting zoo, inflatables on a lake, zip lines, wall climbing, fishing hole and a giant maze. There was plenty of lounge chairs and tubes. The mini fridge included 6 cold bottles of water. The soft drinks were not ridiculously overpriced. Cons: The cabanas had several wasps and bees flying around. My friend was stung by a bee. It took about 15 minutes for someone to come over to assist her. A young woman showed up without a first aid kit. She pulled the stinger out with her finger nails. She put tobacco from her cigarette on the mark. Luckily I brought some Benadryl, antiseptic and band aids. We had to keep getting up and stepping away from the wasps and bees. The kids were so scared. We ordered food and it took about 30 minutes for a pan of chicken tenders and fries. We went to the food stand to purchase nachos. Our server said one of the food trucks was closed. She didn't bring any sauces, plates or napkins. We had to ask her to bring it and ketchup. She brought back plates, napkins, bbq sauce, honey mustard, ranch and 2 packets of ketchup. She said they ran out of ketchup. We asked for funnel cakes and were told they ran out on Saturday. The parking situation is a joke. There's only 4 handicapped parking spots in the $20 VIP parking lot. It's in front but vehicles were parked on the grass. The free parking lot was way in the back. Love this park it's big a spacious so you don't feel crowded. Such a great park for family/ friends great for kids all ages, they have something for everyone. We got a cabana, so we spent all day there, there's plenty of spots to choose from first come first serve. Park hours are really cool because they stay open until 11pm so you get your money worth on the weekends. Food is ok they have a variety from snow cones to tacos and burgers, you'll have to be patient with the workers and servers, not sure if they're understaffed or just summer time kids with part time jobs. Parking can be tricky there's $20 parking up front or it's free but you have to walk a little. Overall great park we will def go back! read more

This was our first time visiting Big Rivers. We rented a cabana and thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommended a cabana in this heat, there's a fan and fridge and shade and it was nice for our kiddos to have a "base" to meet up at and know where they could come for a break. Parking is very confusing. I wish it was a little more direct, but there's a $20 cash only front parking area that we felt was worth it with so many complaining kids, lol. ‍Rides we're very fun. The lines were not bad at all compared to splash towns and the other main waterparks. The ground is pretty hot, so either be prepared to walk in the grass or bring some sandals! The obstacle course is so much fun. Food is pricey but....to be expected! Although it was pricey, it was good! And I felt like there were a handful of options. I enjoy this park because there's something for everyone. Dealing with teenagers is not easy but there's fishing and dry obstacle courses if you're not wanting to swim, and kayaking and other random things. We had a lot of fun and it tired the kids out so we will definitely be back!! read more

Rented largest luxury cabana at 350.00, Picture shows sofa seats 6 only received 5 of those sections, cabana allows for 12 people but can only accommodate seating maybe 6 or 7 tops, the fan not working at a 102 out side they should have repaired before renting, area was not swept. They are limited to food places worker can go so you must pick off select menu, no table to sit food on just an ottoman, they can't hold birthday cakes in fridge for lack of room and the small fridge you get will not fit any cake or cup cakes so don't bring one that icing will melt and only if you purchase a birthday package can you bring one at all. It was nice having a small safe for holding belongings and staff was friendly and trying to help. We purchased the souvenir cup for dollar refills only to find out they were out kids were disappointed they couldn't take home to Wisconsin. read more
