Fast and friendly service. Great biscuits - large and tasty. Check them out at the Montclair farmers market.

I'm forever grateful for that recommendation because they make some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I've tried a few items on the menu, but the one I always recommend is the Hot Italian. Everything about this sandwich is incredible. It's packed with flavor, and you can honestly tell it was made with care. I usually pair it with a bag of chips, and the total comes to around $18. It's absolutely worth every penny and always leaves me full and satisfied. The shop is consistently clean, and the customer service is always friendly and welcoming. I find myself going back over and over again, then telling myself I need to take a break--only to end up back there a few weeks later. That's how good it is. A couple of things to keep in mind before you visit: there's only limited street parking, so you may have to circle the block to find a spot. There's also not much room to wait inside, although they do have a bench or two where you can sit while your sandwich is being prepared. In my experience, the wait is usually around 15 minutes. I've honestly never been here when it wasn't busy, so expect a crowd. But once you take that first bite, you'll understand why. Great food, great atmosphere, and great customer service. I highly recommend checking this place out!

The deli is a nice size with a couple of benches to sit and wait for your food. You can look at the menu and order, plus grab a drink or chips. They have a nice variety of items to grab that go well with your sandwich. The service was friendly and quick. Workers were all kind, and we love that it's dog-friendly! Regarding the sandwiches, you can get a hot or cold sandwich. You can also build your own! Companion got the Hot Boy, and I went the Build Your Own route. The sandwiches are hefty, with lots of great meats and fillings, and for the price, very decent! I wish my bread were a bit more toasted and crunchier, but that's my preference. It hit the spot, and I'd be open to trying their other sandwiches. I don't often go to delis, but Brothers Deli was a nice place to try. We enjoyed it by the waterfront, which makes it a great picnic option. Find them off Park Blvd., with street and residential parking around.

It's essentially The Bird, minus the bacon with a couple other minor tweaks, including the softer sesame roll. Usually they just fuck up the bread and forget one of the veggies. Today, they just gave me a Bird sandwich which was drowning in mayo, not the garlic aioli I ordered - no sesame roll, no tomato, no pickled onion...just a whole other sandwich. I stopped ordering in person at the shop because someone there always ended up being kind of a dick during the interaction - either during the ordering or the pick up - without fail. You don't have to like your customers, but you do have to at least pretend to tolerate them. I'm not asking you guys anything hard. So enjoy my last nearly $19 for the completely wrong sandwich. I don't know why I kept trying.

It was super spicy though, typically I can handle any spice level but this one was a bit too hot for me. You can order it mild which I would recommend if you don't love spice. They were quite quick and it was easy to walk up and order. There is not much seating so it's better if you grab the sandwich and take it elsewhere.

Growing up in Orange County, I grew up eating a lot of amazing Vietnamese food. So from the reviews, I was hoping that it was going to be amazing. Don't get me wrong the sandwich was good, but it wasn't extraordinary like people have been raving. I feel like the pork was lacking that lemonGrass flavor that it promised. It also did have way too much mayonnaise on it. I did appreciate the fresh veggies and the bread was nice. But overall, it really tasted like mayonnaise. It was lack in flavor that unfortunately, even with all the ingredients it didn't give any. Would it be something that I would order again, no. But I would give this place another try with a different sandwich. But overall, I would say my experience was "eh".

I've had their Spicy Hog, steak with mushroom, a few Cubans, but the one that I always come back to is "The Balls" sandwich. First off, this sandwich is massive, so be sure that you come here on an empty stomach. These beef meatballs are seasoned to perfection and bursting with flavor. The balls are covered in their red sauce with provolone and Grana Padano, which gives it that nutty and salty flavor that pairs extremely well with the meatballs and baguette. All the juices and cheese just get soaked up to perfection. The baguette bread they use is supplied by La Farine, which is just a few meters away from each other. Just putting out there that La Farine is hands down one of the best bakeries in Oakland, so it makes sense that this sandwich would be so dang good. I'll be honest that I'm not a big fan of the chips or those chips in general and could be fine with just the sandwich. If you are going to have any sandwich to eat here first, I would highly recommend you try "The Balls" because I promise you will not be disappointed. I will always say that the dozen or so times I've been here, the staff are always so friendly, and the atmosphere is very down to earth. The price of their sandwiches is in the $20 range, but the quality and portion make it totally worth it.

Don't come in solo expecting a side table.

Truly heartbreaking to see how far we've fallen with this shop from the staff blatantly ignoring customers to gab, deceptive assembly of sandwiches, to questionable practices of food safety. I don't like to complicate things, so I will 9/10 times order something I've eaten before because I like "tried and true." Due to this, for the aforementioned 20 years, I have ordered the Little Lucca Ultimate Club on Dutch Crunch, same cheese every time and all. Imagine my surprise when the bread is still roughly the same size as always, but the meat portions are wildly lacking in comparison to past orders. Little Lucca has been featured on TV and social media for the enormous size of their sandwiches and have been heavily commended on the meat-to-price ratio of sorts for that reason. I mean, even here on their Yelp page they boast about the sizeable sandwiches. The issue now is that reducing portion size of the interior (meat), while keeping the exterior the same (bread), is very misleading when your brand is known for loading up the sandwich. Bread is delicious, but I'd hazard a guess that customers would want less bread than less meat. I am no detective, but I did notice that my total for two sandwiches was ~$33 which was less than the usual ~$39, so it could be that the reason for less meat is to keep the cost low. Still, even when it was costing me an all-time high of ~$18 for an Ultimate Club, it was worth it in the end for the portion received. For sandwiches' sake, THREE different people were involved in my Club and I was thoroughly told I was wrong to believe the ULTIMATE Club came with more than THREE strips of bacon despite it being one of the three meats of the sandwich. I attached photos to show how I'd rather pay the extra $6 to get the original sandwich back. I didn't want to argue, so after they said it a second time, I relented. Still, as I was going to pay, they opened up another sandwich to "prove" the bacon portion size. I apologized to the other customer on their (Lucca) behalf. There are two boxes of gloves always on the counters of Little Lucca, one by the bread, the other by the meat slicer. They have been there faithfully for so long, it's almost comforting to see them. I found out today that they are just for decoration as not one of the FIVE sandwich makers replaced their gloves between touching meats, surfaces (microwave/fridges/drawers/slicer), ingredients from the bucket underneath, sandwich assembly, or my personal favorite, coming from the back storage. In lieu of swapping gloves, the sandwich makers have settled on wiping the surface of their current gloves with butcher paper. When I asked at the register about this practice, I was told that is literally as they are trained to do. They are apparently told there is NO NEED to replace gloves unless they go to the back storage. That one hit a little weird for me. I promise that this is not an easy review to leave and it is so disappointing that this is where Little Lucca ends for me, but I could not be less enthused about paying less for a sandwich if it's going to be so poorly made, nostalgia be dawned. The locals already know this, but I'll just put it out there for visitors to not get duped, you will for sure catch me going to Teani's from now on. I asked for Kathy, the owner, at the register so that I could share my concern with her, but she was in the back and I was told she was busy. I didn't want to hold the flow of the business up, so I paid, thanked the person at the register and left, not to return. Few things are as much of a bummer as paying for food you didn't like.
