    Fruit salad aka palate cleanser
    Andrew C.

Egg Pals is a breakfast sandwich (or sandy, as they call them) pop-up that's been mostly at Ramen Shop in Rockridge. They have bacon and a veggie sandwich option (which is currently roasted delicata squash) along with tots and fruit salad for sides. The sandwiches have 2 fried eggs, pickled onions, american cheese, and their secret sauce on a Starter Bakery brioche bun which combine for a delicious and decadent start to your day. They've been popping up with Molly's Refresher (https://mollysrefresher.com/) for the beverage side of things. Follow their instagram (https://www.instagram.com/eggpals/) to find out when & where they'll be popping up next.

Super fun pop-up. We tried three sandwiches and our favorite was the pickle one! Delicious and quick.

The absolute best egg sandwich. I wish I could get this every morning and twice of Fridays.

Kitchen Story is my go-to for Korean-fusion brunch in Oakland (and it's on the way home from my…read morekids dentist so always a pit stop)! Kitchen Story nails the Korean-brunch mashup better than anywhere else I've found. The Kitchen Story benedict with millionaires bacon is a standout... crispy sweet and spicy bacon with poached eggs and hollandaise over asparagus and ciabatta toast, plus a side of crispy fried Yukon potatoes. The tornado eggs with galbi fried rice with that glossy brown gravy is another favorite, and the popcorn chicken (yes, served with actual popcorn mixed in) is a fun, addictive appetizer - or my 6yo favorite dish. Don't sleep on the stuffed French toast either, loaded with fresh fruit and a nice hit of powdered sugar. A few practical notes: this place is small and popular, so weekday visits or joining the virtual Yelp waitlist before you arrive is the move if you want to avoid a long wait. They also have a big TV that made watching World Cup games here a great bonus. My favorite detail, though: at the end of the meal they bring your receipt tucked inside a little book instead of just handing you a slip of paper. Such a charming, unexpected touch that makes the whole experience feel more special. Come hungry, come early (or waitlisted), and don't skip dessert-for-breakfast options. Highly recommend.

Please be aware that there may be people reserved after if you are also reserving a table. We had to leave 1.5 hrs after and they did rush us to get our orders. The food was amazing though. I didn't think any one of us had complaints. We all loved the mango margarita. I particularly enjoyed the tornado omurice, they were also able to sub tofu for beef for my friend with food restrictions.

My friends and I checked out Xulo's popup at Morrell's Bread in Berkeley on March 21 after seeing…read moreit being advertised on San Francisco Chronicle's Instagram page. The pop-up operated from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and we showed up at 9:45 a.m., the line was already down the block. There were three burrito options on the pop-up menu: - Chx colorado: mild chile CA red sauce, mayocoba, jack cheese - Huitlacoche: shiitakes and oyster mush, jack cheese, black beans - Bean & cheese: frijoles negros, cheddar, red + green sauce Of the three options, my wife and I ordered a huitlacoche and bean & cheese burrito. Our friend ordered one of the chicken burritos so I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to try all three. Of the three burritos, it was honestly hard to choose a favorite because each one was so different in taste. I will have to say though, the bean & cheese burrito, despite being the most "normal" one of the bunch, seemed to be the one that everyone would order again out of the three. The star of the show for me though was the tortillas. The tortillas were toothsome and were grilled to perfection. I'll definitely have to pick up a pack next time I'm shopping down the street at Berkeley Bowl. If you're able to catch Xulo at a pop-up, I would definitely make room in your schedule to do so. The burritos here are delicious.

Similar to my previous review for Year of the Snake, Xulo was the Saturday pop up off 8th Street in Berkeley with a few different burrito menu options for the day including their notable bean & cheese, a meat option, and veggie option. Omg, what a treat! Everyone was so incredibly nice, and you could tell they have a really special thing going. They were selling their hot sauce too, and that was fire! I would love to try more items, but it's so hard to say no to the classic bean and cheese. It's just such a classic and when done correctly, chef's kiss! I'll have my eye out for their next pop-up in the area, and will most def be purchasing those tortillas. On their website it lists markets that sell the packaged tortillas like Picnic in Albany and Berkeley Bowl..nice!

My friend and I ordered the Pork Adobo, garlic rice , Lechon Kawali, and the Pancit. Every dish was so flavorful! We had the Baby and Junior mango drinks. Granted, I like when it's very crispy. I do wish the portions were a liiiil bit bigger. The soy sauce sawsawan for this was good too. Kabocha (6/10): The skin of the squash was so tough! I could not bite it. It was like a rock. But the coconut sauce was amazingly savory and rich. Unfortunately, the skin of the kabocha was just too tough to eat and the outer rind should have been removed. Bistek (9/10): The Picanha was a good choice. I enjoyed this contemporary take on bistek! It tasted like an elevated version of bistek, but still embraced tradition. I would definitely order this again! Mango Lemonade (7/10): Nothing too extraordinary, but it was refreshing and did the job. Palawan Sunrise (8/10): Refreshing and not overly sweet! We went around 6PM on a Sunday, and it was a small and relaxed space with beautiful Filipino inspired decor. Service was wonderful! Liliana checked on us frequently and made sure that our allergies were taken care of! Thanks, Liliana!
