This is an old school burger stand with the old letter/number menu. All the specials are listed on the windows and near the counter. Clean and easy to order. The few times I've been here, I've placed my order and received it quick. The staff isn't full of a lot of conversation because they're busy but they're in a good mood. I've only ordered the double chili cheeseburger and fries. No complaints.

My family and I always come to Big Tomy's for breakfast, and it never disappoints! Their hotcakes and french toast are so yummy--fluffy, delicious, and just what you want from a classic diner breakfast. If you love diner vibes, this is a great spot with that cozy, nostalgic feel. We also love supporting local businesses, and Big Tommy's has been around for decades, which makes it even more special. It's one of those places that truly feels like part of the community. If you haven't been, definitely check it out and support a longtime Culver-local favorite!

Ambiance: old fashioned burger place, limited seats inside and you clean your own table before your meal and afterwards Service: there could a waiting line during rush hours, you order and pick up food from the counter Price & Drink: plenty choices from the menu Breakfast Burritos - ** very dried scrambled eggs and potatoes inside, and meat wasn't fresh Pastrami Burger - **** thin patty with pastrami slices, bold flavors, recommend Fries - *** average taste Fanta - ** watery fountain drink Price: huge portions and cheap prices, less than $15 per person and it's cash only

Air conditioning, fast service! I got the onion rings came nice and crunchy. Really big portion was like $6 plus tax not bad for the quantity of the food!

Cashier is very nice, but maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I got eggs and potatoes with bread for breakfast and everything was bland, the salsa was flavorless and water down.

When you need to clog your arteries and gain 100 lbs., I recommend Big Tomy's. You don't need to get dressed up for this joint. Shoes, shirt and you get serviced. I ordered the green flyer hanging on the wall that says "Big Tomy's Special: Pastrami Burger, Fries and Soda. Aidan ordered the chili cheese fries and a plain chili cheese burger. I got coke with no ice. Bring cash. Because they only take cash. You know this place is authentic when you sit down and the grease is permeated on the table, bench and walls. Bonus, when you pick up your order at the counter, grab any bottles of condiments. It's free. Oh man, I wolfed down the Pastrami Burger, but couldn't finish the super load of fries. This place is five stars, my friend.

It's like stepping back into the 70's or 80's walking into this place with the colorful laminate booths and colorful special menu postings on the walls. It's also worth mentioning how spotless it is and how friendly the staff are. As for the food, I had the breakfast burrito, which was the size of a newborn, and had the right ratio of potato egg and bacon for each bite.

Don't go here! The cook does not use disposable gloves when making your food. He handles the raw ground beef with his hands then picks up the tomatoes and lettuce, etc., to make your burger. I wish I was a health inspector! SMDH! I wouldn't even give the place a 1!

Hole in the wall kinda business! Bring cash! & If you don't mind waiting a long time for your food then this place is just right for you "been waiting a little over 25 minutes for a cheeseburger and fries " with two customers ahead of me , as far as customer service I'm not going to say it's bad but it's definitely not the worst ....the restaurant definitely looks run down and cleanliness definitely needs improvement . Price point ? It's pretty ok 14.99 for a burger and fries ? As far as food quality I'll let you know once I'm done with my meal Ok I'm half way with my meal and done complaining The fries get a solid 10 rating alone they are nice and fresh ! The burger it's huge !! So Yummy the meat is juicy and ingredients seem fresh !!! Overall the food is yummy ! But due to the wait and zero communication from staff and restaurant cleanliness the rating I give for This place is a Update this place is BOMB.com

Ask the Community - Big Tomy's

There is construction underway at the old Pico and Sawtelle location, but there is nothing to indicate if it is going to be Big Tomy's. Anyone know?

Yes it will be Big Tomy's

Are they going to rebuild Big Tomy's?

Has anyone heard if/when Big Tomy's is re-opening?

The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, and overall the food itself was a great experience. Unfortunately, the customer service surrounding our pickup order was very disappointing. Our bag was sealed, but not all of the items we ordered were inside, forcing us to drive back to the restaurant. What was even more frustrating was the complete lack of accountability when we called. There was no apology or ownership of the mistake, and the communication was poor. If you're sealing pickup bags, there should be a process in place to ensure every item is packed before the order leaves the restaurant. Mistakes happen, but how they're handled makes a big difference. The food was excellent, but the lack of accountability and professionalism during this situation really took away from an otherwise great experience.

As a Peruvian, I came in with high expectations, but unfortunately the food didn't live up to them…read more Overall, I'd rate the experience a 5/10. I started with the fish ceviche ($25.99). The restaurant said it was made with white sea bass, but the fish was cut into unusually large cubes that were awkward to eat and a bit too firm to bite through comfortably. More importantly, the fish itself lacked flavor. The biggest disappointment, however, was the leche de tigre. Instead of the bright, citrusy, balanced flavor that defines a great Peruvian ceviche, it tasted more like a ginger soup. The ginger completely overpowered the dish, making it difficult to recognize the classic flavors of authentic Peruvian ceviche. The chicken skewers were also underwhelming. When I order Peruvian-style skewers, I expect them to be grilled over charcoal or an open flame, with a smoky aroma and a nicely charred exterior. Instead, these lacked that signature grilled flavor. While the seasoning had potential, they were noticeably over-salted, and the bottom pieces were soggy, almost as if they had been sitting in their own juices instead of coming straight off the grill. What made the experience harder to justify was the price. We spent over $70 before tip for two entrées, two drinks, and a small side of huancaína sauce. At those prices, I expect authentic flavors and strong execution. Unfortunately, neither dish delivered enough quality to match the cost. The service was friendly, and I genuinely wanted to like this place, but the food fell short. Los Angeles has some excellent Peruvian restaurants, and based on this visit, I don't think Huarique is one I'd return to.

Jackson market as a whole in terms of ambiance, variety, taste definitely overtakes bay cities but if you're just talking about comparing food quality sand which to sand which it will be a tough TIE (it's not less) than bay cities. Bay cities is loaded and so is Jackson but bay cities is a little more juicier where the inside sandwich ingredients shine more and you can definitely taste each of the ingredients eg banana peppers meats deli cheese etc. Jackson market's Italian sub had harder bread but I could see like some would argue it's more balanced. It definitely is a little less juicy and even though there were complimentary banana peppers I hardly tasted it at all as it was sprinkled far and few. If you paid for an added topping eg. Jalepenos they were definitely generous with it. Tip: DO NOT get the French baguette toasted as it'll be too hard. The market is fun because it also offers wine selections ($20-$60), not a fun cheese selection like bay cities, pasta salad, bomb tiramisu, has an entire PIZZA OVEN in the back, fun canned drinks including GUAYABA (an aloe tasting like drink), pastries, and chips/snacks. Ambiance - the patio in the back is spacious and big. They don't allow you to bring a computer to work there and the WiFi and service is pretty bad there. Parking - street parking along residential homes 2 subs ($14.99/each), 2 drinks, 1 large chip ($4.95) came out to be around $44. Overall an amazing find. The 10/10 would come back & especially try the pizza. Revolutionary in food taste ? Probably not but revolutionary in enjoyability and spot find? 1000%. Happy munching !
