The food was delicious, and the service was wonderful! It was a small hidden gem restaurant, and the inside decor was so cute! They had the World Cup playing so people came to enjoy the game!! Spent three hours there with friends just having a wonderful time~ it's family friendly and would definitely come back!

Aji de Gallina. It was described as a stew but it's not really a stew at all.

The food here is just fine. I had high expectations given the 4.7 ratings but I don't agree with this rating. It's too high. The rotisserie chicken which is supposed to be their top seller was absolutely NOT good. I came specifically for the rotisserie chicken but they ran out the night I went. Crazy! I had fomo and ordered it via DoorDash the next day. I was shocked when I got it and it was not good at all. It's extremely salty and over brined to the point where the meat turned pink. The texture was hard, elastic, and snappy like breakfast ham! 3/10 I've had way better pollo a la brasa elsewhere (not in LA) and the meat is supposed to be soft and fall off the bone! The texture here was worse than even Costco rotisserie chicken. The spices were just alright, could use a little more seasoning that's not just salt. As for the other food, I would say the beef skewers are excellent (8/10). The ceviches are pretty good, too, but again just fine (7/10). The basil lemonade was delicious and a must try (10/10), better than their purple corn drink which I also tried (5/10). The rest of the food like the pesto tallarines (6/10) and their chicken "stew" were just okay (6/10). The beef stir fry that came with the pasta was cooked with too much oil and the chicken pieces were dry. I really liked the interior of the restaurant, appreciated the decor and lights. It had a nice cafe/eatery vibe and did not feel hole in the wall at all. Overall, I like Lonzo's Restaurant/Bread better for Peruvian food. It is just 5 min drive away also in Culver City. That restaurant is actually a hole in the wall. They do not have rotisserie chicken but they have almost every other standard Peruvian dish. I can't describe it but the food there tastes more homemade and comforting--I think the chef is a grandma/auntie--whereas here the food tasted more commercial, like it was precooked in batches and thrown together on an assembly line. The only reason I would choose el Huarique over Lonzo's is for the decor and vibes. The environment is quite a bit nicer but the food at Lonzo's is just overall better.

Take out 1/4 chicken with fries and salad.

Chat GPT suggested this restaurant and gave it strong recommendations as being THE restaurant I must eat at as I pass through Culver City on my travels. It also indicated it's a great place to get take out. And then I also did a quick Yelp check and saw the high reviews because I wanted to be sure it aligned with what CGPT was telling me. I grabbed takeout and got 1/4 rotisserie chicken with french fries and salad as my sides. I don't want to compare this to a Costco rotisserie chicken but I can't help myself because Costco has really good rotisserie chicken. In general, this meal was tasty. But, I'm not certain it stands out the way CGPT was raving about it. Costco's version is definitely saltier but the tenderness was pretty close. The fries were just average. The salad, even without dressing, had good flavor but it was a simple salad of greens, onions and a couple cherry tomatoes. I had asked for ketchup but they forgot to pack it. The green sauce was delicious. All in all, the meal was ok. Nothing bad to say but it didn't stand out to be phenomenal. And honestly, a slightly larger portion of my sides would have been nice. Service was nice and friendly. There were a couple tables of diners but for a Friday night, they weren't very busy. Then again, people were probably staying home because it's the day after Christmas and it is raining out. I hope they get a lot of business on normal days!

Located in a restaurant rich strip of Sepulveda, Huarique invites you in with its exterior and a tastefully decorated room with original art depicting indigenous motifs interspersed with artifacts. Street parking is plentiful. Drinks are limited although the lemonade with mint and basil resembled its Peruvian counterpart. Service was friendly and efficient. We ordered the seafood and shrimp saltado that were basically a stew with a mound of rice with French fries mixed in similar to poutine. Dessert was a sponge cake filled with dulce de leche. The food was good but was no way near the standard one would expect. Missing were causas, the quintessential Peruvian appetizer made of finely ground indigenous potatoes topped with crab and other delicacies. I will likely need to try some more dishes to be sure, but El Huarique despite its high points overall falls short of expectations.

A family-owned Peruvian Restaurant! 1st location was in Venice and now they have this restaurant as their 2nd location. Very cute ambiance with nice Peruvian decor around. I had a traditional and delicious Lomo saltado! We paired it with a ceviche mixto. The beef was nice juicy and tender. And the ceviche was fresh! They have bottled chica morada and inka cola. Very traditional drinks from Peru. They will have their beer and wine license later this year. Parking is metered in the front with some free residential parking around the corner. It's exciting to have another Peruvian restaurant on the westside. I can't wait to have it again.

South on Sepulveda in Culver City, is a block or so of restaurants that you would pass by over and over and not bother looking. This location has been many things and all of them average at best. Street parking is pretty easy and we were warmly greeted at the door (noticing the sign that said help wanted). It's a pretty small place and by 8pm on a Friday had about 8-10 people inside. Very clean and looks very new. When we ordered, the waiter said they were a bit behind since they were short staffed and recommended we have our plantains as an appetizer instead of with the meal. Super fresh out of the kitchen they came and were some of the better plantains we've had in a while. I got the 1/4 chicken with rice and beans, usually rice and beans in many places are just a throwaway item. These brown beans were delicious and would eat a bowl of them if available. The chicken was well seasoned and moist and surprisingly the rice was fresh and quite good. But the item of the night by far was the pork sandwich! Amazingly moist with red onions and some sweet potato fries inside. Perfect meat to bun to veggie ratio! They have some items that you wouldn't think from a Peruvian restaurant like chow mein?? But after the great meal we had, we'll have to come back and try them but only after getting another pork sandwich. Quick tip - no beer yet, but it's coming in 2026 so we're told.

It's been a while since I've had El Haurique in Venice so I was looking forward to dining in at their newer location in Culver City. It's a pretty small and quaint eatery that's directly on Sepulveda Blvd. The server was really friendly and helped us decide which peruvian dishes to get. I opted for the chicken and the ceviche mixto. I could eat like 5 ceviches..it tastes fresh with the right amount of citrus so it makes it addictive. Not only was the presentation beautiful, but the food tasted incredible. They don't have liquor or wine. They have non alcoholic options like chicha morada and inka kola. Street parking was easy to find on Sepulveda (metered) or in the neighborhood.

Man! What can I say?! To die for. The ceviche is some of the best I've ever had and I've had my fair share! My wife had the lomo saltado and she said it was full of great flavor and the meat was cooked to perfection. My son and daughter shared the half chicken plate and it was gone at the end of the meal lol. Safe to say they enjoyed it. The service was also very good. Super attentive and informative. Street parking is somewhat easy. Can't wait to be back

I absolutely loved the food here! We ordered the loma saltado which was tender and flavorful beef sirloin paired with white rice and French fries. It was an interesting combo, but it worked. We also ordered the chicharron de pescado which was fried fish cubes served with yucca (tasted almost like French fries but slightly different consistency), pickled onions, tartar sauce and a green sauce (tasted similar to chimichurri). We were seated right away and the food came out quickly. It felt like a small hole in the wall and had cozy vibes. Overall, would recommend this place and can't wait to come back soon!

Tasty Peruvian food in downtown Culver! I came with a party of 5 and enjoyed my time! Every time I get Peruvian food, the aji sauce is what I think about first and theirs was very herbaceous, almost slightly spicy, and less creamy compared to others I've had. The Peruvian chicken was tender and a great vehicle for the aji sauce. Yucca fries were fried until golden brown with a good crunch. Plantains were ripe and well-fried! The mixed ceviche featured jumbo shrimp and fresh sea bass. I liked the addition of choclo (white corn) and cancha (fried corn) because it offered more textural contrast and overall fun to eat! The fried fish was nicely fried with a light batter which helped encase the juicy, tender fish meat. Again another great vehicle for the aji sauce. Lomo Saltado was pretty good; beef pieces were tender and well seasoned but not sure if the fries added too much. I'm not a big rice person but I really liked their rice because it was steamed nicely with each grain intact but not overly sticky, and still had a good chew! It has a mom and pop shop vibe. I think staff were trying to clear our plates asap because we were taking a while (someone was waiting for a flight) but otherwise they were friendly and nice. Street parking available. I'd come back if I was in the area and craving Peruvian food!

The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, and overall the food itself was a great experience. Unfortunately, the customer service surrounding our pickup order was very disappointing. There was no apology or ownership of the mistake, and the communication was poor. If you're sealing pickup bags, there should be a process in place to ensure every item is packed before the order leaves the restaurant. Unfortunately, between an ordering mix-up and a pretty underwhelming sandwich, the experience didn't live up to expectations. The space itself is great--bright, casual, and inviting, with a cool, laid-back vibe that makes it a nice spot to sit and hang out for a bit. It definitely has that neighborhood café feel that draws you in. I ordered the avo TLT and swapped the bread for a baguette. We grabbed a table, and since it was fairly busy, we ended up waiting about 20 minutes for our food, which was totally fine. When the sandwiches finally came out, my husband's order was correct, but mine was completely wrong--I was given a turkey and cheddar sandwich instead of the vegan option I ordered. When we went back up to the counter, it seemed like the mistake came from the order being entered incorrectly. Things happen, so no big deal--but what was frustrating was having to wait another 15 minutes for the replacement. It felt like my corrected order was just placed at the back of the line instead of being prioritized. Unfortunately, the sandwich itself didn't make up for the wait. The flavor was pretty one-note, with the avocado overpowering everything else. The tempeh was sliced so thin it was barely noticeable, which made the whole thing feel a bit lacking, especially for something meant to be a more substantial vegan option. Overall, it was a disappointing visit. The space is cute and has a lot of potential, but between the mix-up and the lack of flavor, it's not somewhere I'd return.
