Staff was very genuinely friendly, nice and efficient. Ambience is so so cute! The restaurant is shaped like a merry go round and has awesome decor. Plenty of vegetarian options. They even have resident well behaved and very beloved pit bull 'blue' in residence. He does not bother diners. And accepts petting like a gentleman. Definitely worth the visit! The staff was kind, and the building was cool, but that's where the charm ended. We walked into an obese pit bull literally sitting on a chair at the table, right next to where we got seated. There had been a sign out front saying there was a "service dog" inside with a picture of the obese pit bull in question, so I guess that's helpful but calling it a service dog really stretches credulity. I'm not sure what service the dog is providing for the owner who was not present until the end of our meal, at which point he paraded the dog around the tiny restaurant to greet customers. Another customer came in with a dog, too - apparently this tiny restaurant is teetering into becoming a dog park. I love dogs. I work with animals for a living. I am a dog owner and bring my dog everywhere I can, within reason and with the explicit permission of the businesses we visit. I do NOT appreciate a poorly-behaved pit bull, kept docile by virtue of his excessive weight, slobbering on a dining table. I do not appreciate dog dander in my food. But mostly, being in a family that used actual guide dogs - as in, dogs that were specifically bred and trained for YEARS by experienced professionals to assist their visually impaired handlers all day, completely ignore food and people that try to interact with them, and to tuck themselves quietly at their handler's feet at a restaurant, I'm put off by "service dogs" just moseying around a restaurant or sitting at a table with diners. It really does seem like this dog's main purpose is to hang out and be a restaurant mascot, which sure sounds like a health code violation. Dog dander aside, the food was basically on par with what you might order at any American-style Chinese restaurant. The orange chicken had a strong orange peel flavor, so it stood out. The rice was dry. I didn't notice anything unique about the soy sauce. The other items we ordered were unremarkable.

It's a shame when servers are not trained. It's even worse when the food is not good…read more The young lady that served us asked about drinks. Why sure I'd like a libation something rather. She came back and said in fact they don't serve Margarita's. She said she had no idea, and that she didn't even live in the area. What does where she lives have anything to do with anything? I don't want to be mean, but ?? I ordered the 1/2 rack of these "Famous Ribs." My hubby the Flat Iron steak. We asked for salads as the choice instead of soup. We wait and wait...starving after having hiked all over the Alabama Hills. It is customary to get the salad ahead of time, but this young lady was doing other things. Suddenly after 15 min. we got our meals with no salad. She was getting ready to walk away when I asked about the salads. She went and got them not really concerned about it, and was not really understanding. So onto these ribs! I'm traumatized by these things that were so overcooked and dry. What on earth was done to these things? It seems they were boiled, then frozen, then defrosted, and microwaved? Who knows!! I do know this. I have been making ribs for a long time. For the love of God you don't need to kill the pig 15 times! My hubbies Flat Iron Steak was alright. Not completely hideous. Needless to say, there are not many choices in the Lone Pine. This is not a choice I would ever venture to again if in the area.

Whitney. The crossroad is Whitney portal road. We parked on the street, but I am guessing there is some parking around back too. The restaurant was rustic, clean, classic rock playing on the radio, and there are bathrooms. Service was fast and friendly. They had lunch and breakfast options. Breakfast prices are about what you would expect for a small restaurant in a small town. Plenty of good options to choose from. I was contemplating the pancakes and the French toast. I tried the 2 piece French toast and it came with some cantaloupe. It was warm, fluffy, and tasty. It came with plenty of butter packets and large syrup container. It hit the spot for sure. I think it was about $12.

We ordered a half pepperoni, half ham pizza along with garlic bread. The pizza came out pretty quickly, but our garlic bread never arrived. We waited a bit thinking it might still be coming, and when I finally asked about it, they realized the order hadn't gone through. They made it right away. The pizza was really good! One thing I appreciated was that they didn't skimp on the pepperoni--there was plenty on every slice. The crust was delicious too. I also got to watch a young lady in the back tossing the pizza dough by hand, which was very cool. The restaurant could have been a little cleaner, but the staff seemed busy. Overall, the service was friendly, the food was enjoyable, and I'd definitely stop here again the next time I'm passing through Lone Pine.

Whitney. We had looked at the menu online and had an idea of what we wanted in advance, nope. Out of: the elk, all lamb, trout, and the filets- we ended up with two orders of top sirloin. I had mine with the mushrooms and my husband had his with the green peppercorn sauce- I guess you can still have the sauces even though the meat is gone. The steaks were ok, I definitely did not get what I wanted and probably wouldn't have stayed if I had known just how bad it would be. I did see others walk out, and people that ordered after me were not happy. There's a really easy way to fix this- daily paper menus with what you actually have. Maybe even update them as things run out. Just cross stuff out. Let the guests know up front. If I had known how limited it was, I wouldn't have ordered a drink and eaten the tasty bread roll. Service wasn't that great either- the person that brought the drinks was very friendly, but otherwise our waiter was pretty inattentive. I had the Bees Knees which I enjoyed, I ordered a glass of red to go with the steak, and that didn't show up till I was well into my meal. Weirdly, I would give this place another shot, but would order before even sitting down. That way when I am told that all I can get is a steak that I'm not that interested in, I'll go somewhere else. Or eat at the bar, have a decent drink and leave when you see how dire the menu selection is.

She politely tried to place her order and explained she has allergies and needed a few items removed from her burger. Instead of being helped, she was dismissed and barely given the chance to speak. When her food came out, it had cheese on it--something she specifically asked to be removed due to an allergy. When she brought it to their attention, the employee snatched the burger from her hands and threw it in the trash in a very rude manner. My daughter also witnessed them carelessly throwing the ingredients onto the bun while remaking her order, which was very concerning given her allergy. When the corrected order was ready, it was simply slid across the counter without a single word. I went inside to address the situation and asked to speak to a manager, only to find out the person who treated my daughter this way was the manager on duty an older Hispanic male. This is completely unacceptable. No child or any customer should be treated with such disrespect, especially when communicating a food allergy. My daughter was nearly in tears. This experience was upsetting and unprofessional.
