    3 Quesabirria tacos
    Sherry S.

The best tasting food in town. We tried other restaurants other times but Glenn's taqueria was delicious! They have a large sides and sauces selection as well. I got the quesabirria and my friend got the torta. I would give this place a try if you're struggling to find good tasting food in Lone Pine/Independence.

Chipotle quesadilla ...do ask for the guacamole salsa.

When driving to Mammoth the 14 and 395 can feel like a food desert, if only occasionally dotted with a fast food joint. But if you can time it right, please do stop at Glenn's! Friendly service, and the food was outstanding. We had a bean and cheese burrito, chipotle quesadilla, and carnitas burrito. Funny thing is, the five dollar bean and cheese burrito was smokin! Purrrr! Get that cheap eat! The carnitas were perfect, slightly crispy and juicy. And the quesadilla was pure yum, the best of all we ate! Exactly what the body needs after skiing all day and having to drive for hours!

The real deal! The tacos were so fresh and flavorful. Cheap and fast too. I'd love to try more menu items here. Will definitely return whenever we are back in Independence. Insider's Tip: Glenn's is at the same location as Jalisco Tacos, the other restaurant in the Yelp app. Cash only though Venmo in accepted form of payment.

Great good. Very good prices. It's truck food with some tables outdoors and even a few tables in a tent.

There are stretches of Highway 395 that seem to run through the very soul of California--wind-swept…read morevalleys, snow-capped sierras, and forgotten gas stations with faded signage and stories to match. I've driven this road more times than I can count--always in a hurry to reach June Lake, Mammoth, or somewhere that sounds like a destination. And each time, I pass the same towns, the same reservations, the same hand-painted signs, barely noticed as they blur past my window. But today... today was different. Somewhere near Fort Independence, the kind of place most maps barely nod to, a sign caught my eye: "Indian Tacos." Nothing fancy. Just those two words, painted with purpose. As a member of a tribe myself, I pulled over. Not just out of curiosity, but a sense of kinship--and hunger. Mostly hunger. The setup? A weathered travel trailer, charming in its honesty, not trying to be something it's not. I approached with an open heart and a growling stomach. A kind man greeted me with a smile and said the words that every road-weary traveler longs to hear: "I make the fry bread fresh." What followed was nothing short of a spiritual experience. The Indian Taco was a masterpiece: pillowy-soft fry bread that could bring a tear to your eye, topped with perfectly seasoned meat, crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and fresh salsa that tasted like it had been made that very morning--because it probably was. I told my friends. They grimaced. "You ate what from where?" they asked, horrified at the idea of eating from a rundown trailer on the side of a reservation road. But that's the difference between us. Some people need Michelin stars to validate a meal. I just need fresh fry bread and someone who knows what they're doing. Kumazaa Nobi, tucked away on the Fort Independence Indian Reservation, isn't a stop--it's a discovery. A reminder that the most unforgettable meals don't come with white tablecloths or curated playlists. They come with heart, heritage, and a good dose of adventure. Next time you're on 395, don't blink. Don't rush. Stop. Eat. Say thank you. You'll be better for it.

And I was like, "TURN THE CAR AROUND!!" And of course he obliged, coz that's what friends are for, right? We were greeted by the same familiar, friendly blonde gal who's been here for years, and she told us there would be a wait for a table inside; the place was absolutely packed with families and friends happily eating and chatting - not a single empty chair! I had spotted the blackberry peach coffee cake as soon as we walked up to the counter, which was all I wanted, plus we had to get going... it was also a bit loud for our taste, but I'm sure we would have had a nice time if we stayed. I would've taken a picture of this legendary coffee cake, but it was like gone in 60 seconds, so maybe next time! Thank y'all for the hospitality and the consistently delicious coffee cake! It was just as good as I remembered!

The staff was kind, and the building was cool, but that's where the charm ended. We walked into an obese pit bull literally sitting on a chair at the table, right next to where we got seated. There had been a sign out front saying there was a "service dog" inside with a picture of the obese pit bull in question, so I guess that's helpful but calling it a service dog really stretches credulity. I'm not sure what service the dog is providing for the owner who was not present until the end of our meal, at which point he paraded the dog around the tiny restaurant to greet customers. Another customer came in with a dog, too - apparently this tiny restaurant is teetering into becoming a dog park. I love dogs. I work with animals for a living. I am a dog owner and bring my dog everywhere I can, within reason and with the explicit permission of the businesses we visit. I do NOT appreciate a poorly-behaved pit bull, kept docile by virtue of his excessive weight, slobbering on a dining table. I do not appreciate dog dander in my food. But mostly, being in a family that used actual guide dogs - as in, dogs that were specifically bred and trained for YEARS by experienced professionals to assist their visually impaired handlers all day, completely ignore food and people that try to interact with them, and to tuck themselves quietly at their handler's feet at a restaurant, I'm put off by "service dogs" just moseying around a restaurant or sitting at a table with diners. It really does seem like this dog's main purpose is to hang out and be a restaurant mascot, which sure sounds like a health code violation. Dog dander aside, the food was basically on par with what you might order at any American-style Chinese restaurant. The orange chicken had a strong orange peel flavor, so it stood out. The rice was dry. I didn't notice anything unique about the soy sauce. The other items we ordered were unremarkable.
