Ordered 8 asada beef tacos for the road. The beef tasted very fresh and was well-seasoned, and the greens and onions were juicy and fresh as well. One small downside was that the beef was a bit dry--if it had been juicier, the tacos would have been fantastic. The service was friendly, and the food was prepared and served quickly. read more

Love this place, taco truck! in Lone Pine conveniently on the way to and from Mammoth Lakes. have stopped here at least three times now and we (me and two kids) love stopping here for a great taco, burrito or quesadilla. The carnitas are truly delicious, marinated and fried and tasty crunchy. The burritos are huge will fill you up, plenty of meat in the combination with rice bean and all the fixings you want in a burrito which is easily eaten on the road or the road side picnic tables. Kids raved about the adovada burrito and chicken burrito and chicken quesadilla And they have Mexican coke! now only if they had cane sugar Dr. Pepper! hint hint. We stopped at this food truck to get tacos for dinner when in Lone Pine and we were pleasantly surprised. You can get your food to go or there a couple tables in front of the truck where you can sit and enjoy it. They were out of the shrimp tacos. We got three tacos each couple asada, couple adovada, one carnitas and one chicken and all of them were delicious and filled us up. The red and green salsas were spicy but adding a few drops in each enhanced the flavors. Highly recommend giving them a try when in the vicinity. read more

The food was very good service was fast. The only thing I would say is, I don't have an icemaker so you can't get a cup with ice, which in this valley when it's as hot as it is, should be something that is offered. Otherwise, it was great, the salsas were good. read more

If you like fat burritos and friendly service then this is your new Mexican food stop in Lone Pine. After a 10 hour drive I stopped at Castro's based on all the Yelp reviews..... Can confirm a 5-Star experience The carne asada burrito reminded me of a bus. It's heavy and loaded. Very fresh and flavorful meat, beans, rice, onions, and cilantro. I asked for no salsa on the burrito and had a side of hot sauce which was delicious. Very friendly, fast, and delicious. There are plenty of clean tables under the patio cover to dine in. What brought me here were all the excellent reviews. This place did not disappoint! As soon as I got near the food truck, I could smell the goodness in the air. Brought back childhood memories during my family's trip to deep Mexico. The tacos de asada and adobada are super flavorful, but the asada takes the cake. It tastes like it was grilled and not cooked over the griddle. The salsas are really good and bring the taco to a whole different level. The shrimp mulitas (crispy grilled & cheesy-yum!) and shrimp taco were excellent. My husband enjoyed his chicken tacos. Their green salsa is super flavorful and very spicy. Cash only! The tacos were loaded with tasty meat! I had asada, cabeza, and adovada and they were all fantastic!! Super flavorful with a good spicy kick to them. Wish I had gotten a photo of them but we were so hangry they all disappeared before I could. Unfortunately we got there during dinner rush which took our tacos 40 mins to get after ordering. This was my only issue. I'm definitely coming back and hoping the lines are shorter. If not for the wait, this place is easily a 5 star taco shop. We initially drove right past this place as its a little hard to find, but going North its a left turn just before the Mobile gas station. Came here last night around 6 pm and really enjoyed the food. Quick heads up--they are cash only so come prepared. My fiance and I ordered the shrimp burrito and a shrimp quesadilla. We waited no longer than 5-7 minutes even though there seemed to be a handful of people before us. The shrimp was very tasty and they are very generous with how much shrimp that they give you. My favorite thing about this meal is that their green sauce is a little hotter than your everyday taco truck. This one definitely hit the spot in terms of heat. I came to Alabama Hills for the weekend and of all the food places that we had, I think this one was my personal favorite. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely come back here. read more

Amazing tacos! We stopped here for dinner and had the carne asado and pollo tacos, (unfortunately they were out of adobada) and they were delicious. Coming from San Diego where we are spoiled with great array of taco shops this definitely met the bar and I would highly recommend! Their green and red salsa was also off the hook. 5 Stars all the way!!! Their tacos are so fresh and so flavorful! The hot sauce is also right on point! Tortilla is lightly grilled before they put the meat in! Oh... if only They are closer to where I live... Pollo Tacos: one of the best chicken tacos I've had, they put like 1/4 lbs of chicken in your taco, meat is freshly cooked, you can taste their perfect seasoning every bite with their unforgettable hot sauce. I'm very satisfied with this taco. Chicken Mulita: their tortilla was perfectly toasted to crisp filled with cheese and flavorful chicken. The juicy chicken paired with mouthful of cheese is to die for. I could not ask for better food for $4.5!! Shrimp taco: shrimps are fresh and meaty! Compared to chicken, shrimp is not as phenomenal. But you will not be disappointed with their jumbo shrimp and creamy sauce! Lastly the asada taco: although this is not as shiny as the other ones, the asada was cooked to perfection! We ordered the carne asada tacos. There was so much tender, juicy carne asada that I made 2 tacos from one. The tortillas were nicely grilled, with the desirable brown toasty spots. The rice was fluffy, properly made Mexican rice accompanied with frijoles refritos. It was the best Mexican food we have ever had in Lone Pine. I am having a hard time remembering any place where we live that has food as good. We will definitely go back next time we visit Lone Pine. Excelente! read more

The first time we arrived, we were greeted so kindly by Jerry. She was warm, patient, and genuinely made us feel welcomed. Food was solid with good portions. Jerry also provided a bowl of water for our dogs when it was hot outside. She made sure they were comfortable in the outside patio where we dined. We were hoping to see Jerry again on our second visit but service was still good and friendly. But Jerry is the reason we hope to come back the next time we're in the area.

They also had a very small selection of muffins on the counter. Iris ( I apologize if I got her name wrong) was very welcoming and took our order as soon as we got in. We ordered a drip coffee an oatmilk latte. She gave us the drip coffee immediately, which was nice. The coffee was rich and very tasty (not bitter or flavored). You should know though they do not have a public restroom, which is somewhat of a draw back when you are serving hot and cold beverages and want to attract travelers. I still gave them five stars for their coffee and service. I think that possible they are more of a juice bar, but we were very happy with the caffeine fix.

The Castro's Taco stand is the BEST. The taco's I love are the taco's de asada. The Castro's burritos are really good. The Castro's deliver the food really quick. I am related to the people who own's the Castro's Taco Stand by my mom's side. Also the Castro's quesadillas are really cheesy. The people who work their only open 5-10. The people who work at The Castro's Stand are really nice. In my opinion I think that The Castro's Taco Stand is the best. The Castro's have some cold refreshing soda's. Also the Castro's have some good spicy salsa. The Castro's only speak Spanish but their kids speak Spanish and English. The Castro's only serve Mexican food which is a good thing. read more

THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS!!! I am related to the people who make the food but I am not saying that their food is good because they are family but because their food is actually delicious. The food may be not that healthy but it is delicious. The service is great. They treat you nicely. My favorite food has to be the tacos de Asada. I love that they make their salsa. Everybody knows that homemade is better than store-bought. The prices are great. I really like that they have somewhere to sit to eat your food and that you won't have to eat in your car. I live in Lone Pine and every time I eat there, I want to go back the next day. This place is one of my favorite places to eat. They make great food with low prices that are under ten bucks. They have nice employees. I would love to go there at least twice a week. The food is really good. They have parking so you can eat in your car. Although they don't have ceviche for you to eat, they do have great tacos and burritos. I love the Castro's Taco Stand. I wish I can go there twice a week. read more

One time, I went here to eat and I found red hair in my taco, and I didn't have red hair then, but noticed that the people that made this taco had red hair, eeewww. Castro's Taco Stand is the best. These tacos are really good. The salsa is really good and goes perfect with any of the tacos or burrito. My favorite taco is a taco de asada. Then you give them a chance and end up completely blown away. Glenn's Taqueria is definitely one of those places for me. About 4-5 years ago, I was driving from Reno, Nevada, to Los Angeles via US-395. Since there aren't many places to stop along that route, we pulled over at Glenn's food truck because it had a large shoulder area where we could park safely. We ordered a few tacos, and they were so good that I immediately ordered burritos to take with me. Later that night, after eating those burritos, my only regret was not ordering a few more. Ever since then, I've looked forward to driving this route again just so I could stop here. Today, as I left Reno heading toward Los Angeles, I already knew Glenn's Taqueria would be one of my stops. As soon as I pulled over, five other cars arrived as well, and the place suddenly got very busy. Despite the rush, Glenn handled everything quickly and efficiently. I ordered beef and chicken tacos to eat on the spot, along with beef and chicken burritos for later that night and the next morning. Just like I remembered, everything was delicious. I am placing this review under this heading although I believe the true name of the business is…read more"Eastern Sierra Ice Cream." To say this Ice cream is " good" is not enough. This is true old fashioned ice cream made with real ingredients. You can taste how real the ingredients are in every bite as the flavors dance together on your tongue. We spoke with the gentleman that owns the shop. He spoke to us about where he gets the cream, and some of the ingredients. They really make sure they use good products. You won't find emulsifiers, and guar gum here! The care and attention to making a superior product like this is hard to find. I shared my need for clean food, and my appreciation for what he and his wife create with the gentleman. Truly an Art! This is a must try if you happen to be in this little town passing through.
