Stopped by Little Skewer and it turned out to be a great find. If you've ever had street skewers in China, you'll know the flavor and atmosphere are hard to replicate. This place brought back a lot of those memories. The Chinese name actually translates to "Little Tavern from the Past," which fits the vibe perfectly. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and that unmistakable aroma of cumin and grilled skewers in the air. Ordering is easy--you place your order on an iPad and the food comes out when it's ready. We tried the gizzard, squid, lamb, and tripe. The tripe was surprisingly tender, and the squid was cooked just right. Overall, everything tasted great and the seasoning was on point. A couple of minor notes: the sauce was a little sweeter than I personally prefer, and the lamb was slightly tougher than expected. Neither took away much from the experience. This place is so cool. There was a little waiting but inside was packed, obviously it was a Friday evening. I went there at before 7pm, trying to avoid the crowd. You order the foods from their iPad tablet. Ordering is very simple, see what you like, just add to your order. Suggestion, do not order everything at once, order a few items, submit it. They will bring them out shortly. Once you are about done with the current foods, order more items, this way, your foods come out fresh and hot. If you order everything at once, the foods will sit there and gets cold. The warmer thing doesn't keep the food hot. I like my water cold. The water from the kettle is not cold at all. Ask them to add ice if you prefer your water cold. Came here for an early dinner at 5:30pm, it does get pretty full towards 6pm! The restaurant is a tad small, but the interior and decor here takes you to another world. We got here around 6 PM and it wasn't too busy. We were able to find parking up front. We decided to order some pork belly, potatoes, squid, and beef skewers. This place was a nice find! My boyfriend and I came here spontaneously one night. We checked in through Yelp Waitlist to sign in. We were surprised that there were Chinese table top games and other board games to keep you busy while we waited. The Chinese table top games brought back childhood memories for both my boyfriend and I cause we used to play them when we were kids :) So that was quite a nice surprise. I loved the ambiance. At each table, there's an ipad to place your order. The food comes relatively quick and thankfully there are photos for each dish (if you're like me, I love photos and hate reading captions to figure out what's enticing to eat :P.. haha). We tried some skewers, the garlic enoki mushrooms (SO GOOD), scallops, shrimp and a soup dish. We ordered just the right amount. It's ideal for sharing among four people. The Fried Milk was a unique experience, like fried solidified milk cake. The Sliced Bread with Condensed Milk was so-so. Mikiya Wagyu Shabu House's version, which my friend treated me to last night, was significantly tastier.
