Great place and service First, it was a flat $15/ea + $2 disposal fee. Really difficult to beat this. Second, when you get tires mounted and balanced, you want a shop to use a "road force" balancer. This allows the installer to determine if the tire is true (or out of round) and balance the tire better. This works by pressing weight against the tire and makes sure when it's balanced - it's balanced. When you get a tire balanced and they simply spin the tire and add weights, it's balanced on the machine. However if the tire is egg shaped, you can make it spin correctly but when you drive, it'll thump like crazy. I guess this is why this crazy machine costs $20,000+ Third, call them to make an appointment. You'll be in and out in about an hour! The worst part? Finding it. I've had my wheels done here twice because Tire Rack referred me to them to mount tires. All these guys do is put wheels on your car and while I can't complain about the work, I don't think it is anything to write home about either. They don't do alignments so if you're in need of one (like I was), you need to keep looking. Both times I came, I stood in the lobby area and nobody greeted me for several minutes. Getting an appointment is also a mystery as it seems that one needs to book at least a day in advance yet when I show up it seems that there is nobody around. Maybe tire mounting isn't their main business... and selling rims is? I'll probably go back because it's close to my house but I'm not enamored by them at all however I do think they are competent at what they do. read more

My first experience at Big Wheels was when I came here with a friend that needed tires mounted and balanced on his new wheels that he just refinished. Good work with no damage to the wheels, and the guys were real nice. Several months later when I needed tires installed on my set of newly refinished wheels, I came back to Big Wheels. They took the tires and TPMS off my stock wheels to install to the new ones while I sat in their waiting room. They showed me the slight imbalance in one of my wheels that the refinisher failed to get perfectly true. After mounting and balancing the tires, the wheels were still in perfect condition. The wheel nuts were installed at the proper torque settings using a torque wrench, and they also installed the center caps without me even asking. I'm definitely coming back when I pick up my other set of wheels and tires within the next two months. read more

This was the second time I went there about a year ago they installed my snow tires on. Chris was very helpful I was going to buy new rear tires online and he recommended another set that was less expensive and they had my new tires in the next day did the install and every let me pick up my old tires after the weekend becauseI was in a hurry and running late for my work appointment with a customer. Last week, I had a flat tire and googled a place nearby work. The guys were super friendly and accommodating and took me in within the hour. The helped me put on my spare, ordered new tires, and had them shipped within 24 hrs. They installed my new set of tires while I was at work and when a friend dropped me off, the car was ready to go without any hassle! Fast forward to this week a.k.a. the worst week of my life. I got a flat tire this morning. I brought it to the shop thinking they did something wrong while installing my new tires. It turns out that I ran over a nail!!! (I saw the nail for myself. I always get worried about getting duped as a female in a car shop.) The guys were helpful in taking my car in immediately and patched it up FREE of charge even though it wasn't anything they'd done. I'm super pleased with the service and would go back. I've gone to BigWheels now for 4 sets of tires on 3 different vehicles. One of them has 235/35-19s and I was very worried that a shop would damage the wheels while changing the tires. After vetting them on Yelp, I selected them. Very happy with the choice. They got me in and out in about 30 mins (!), which allowed me to get it done between meetings on a hectic work day. I chatted with Barry briefly while the work was being done, and it was obvious he is extremely knowledgeable in this area, as well as a friendly and honest guy -- felt like talking to a friend. Great service! I wish I could remember the guy's name... I think he was the owner. He spent a lot of time with me giving me info. I ended up not getting my wheels here because I was able to get the particular wheel I needed at a greater discount (eventually) when another place price-matched what I wanted, but the service here was so good the couple of times I was here that I still wanted to rate the place. The prices are pretty good, and if you don't have weeks to shop around, you should check this place out, especially for custom wheels. They keep a bunch in stock to check out in person. read more

I heard about this place from a friend. I was planning on ordering some tires from tirerack online and my friend said I could have the tires shipped directly to BigWheels.net and installed there. I callied to get advise on my tire decision and was given great advise on a different tire choice. I ended up ordering the tires from Big Wheels and had them installed today. It's a small shop so I would recommend calling in advance but their installers and equipment were top notch. If you care about your car as much as I do this is the place to go. My tires were showing cord, so I bought a set of 4 new from Tire Rack. I checked their recommended installers near me against Yelp reviews and price, and Big Wheels (aka Adds Wheel Warehouse) was a clear winner. I called up to see if they had my desired tires in stock, but Tire Rack had them a little cheaper, so I purchased online and had them shipped. I purchased on Monday and they arrived Wednesday morning. Someone from Big Wheels called me and we scheduled an appointment for Thursday at 9am. I arrived at 9:05, and was back on the road by 10:15, with clean new tires installed. They have a small TV and a comfy couch that I lounged on. As far as I can tell, they did a fine job. Time will tell if my mileage goes up :) The prices are also super. My tires are 205/55, so the stated price was $20 per, plus $2 for disposal. And that's exactly what I paid, $88 out the door. Way lower than some of the other options. The folks there were all very friendly, respectful, and competent. I can't promise how well they'll do anything more than a simple tire balancing, but the customer service is excellent. Highly recommend. read more

I had never heard of Big Wheels before last Friday, when I blew a tire on Mathilda Ave. due to a poor road repair. At a coworker's suggestion, I called Big Wheels and Barry answered the phone. In the space of 2 hours, Barry, with help from Steve: 1) Dispatched a truck to my Sunnyvale office to retrieve my wheel 2) Procured an urgent (1hr) delivery of a replacement tire from a nearby warehouse (a uniquely sized high-performance tire - difficult to find) 3) Mounted & balanced the replacement 4) Steve delivered it back to my office & replaced it on my car. I recently ordered a wheel and tire package from TireRack and after mounting the wheels myself I found they were really out of balance. Speeds over 35mph caused some pretty violent shakes from the steering wheel so TireRack recommended that I go to one of their certified installers to rebalance them. This is where Big Wheels (aka Adds Wheels) came in. I called the next morning and they could take me during my lunch hour. They even have a desk setup in the lobby with wired ethernet access which was great since I could get a little work done while I waited. The guys did a great job and zeroed out 3 wheels which were previously way out of balance. They also found that I had one bad wheel as it needed quite a lot of weight just to balance the wheel by itself. With a new wheel and all 4 corners balanced perfectly the car drove perfectly. 80mph on 35" mud terrains is now incredibly smooth! I can't thank these guys enough. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of a good wheel/tire tech in the Bay Area. read more

I am going for 0 stars. This is actually first review and I had such a poor experience that I had to write a review. The situation was freaking rough. 1. I call on Wednesday to see if they have tires my size. They don't so we go thru the process of ordering tires. I set up a time on Monday morning. 2. I get a call saying the tires may be out of stock. But they will call me on Friday if we have to change. 3. I show up on Monday morning. The workshop is essentially closed and doesn't open til 2 hours after scheduled opening time. 4. No tires in stock 5. They find tires and put them on. 6. They offer me a pitiful discount of $5 per tire. 7. The salesman calls me up to apologize but then works towards telling me I told him the wrong size. When I know I didn't especially because I went outside to confirm by also looking at my exact tire.
