After many attempts to program the sensors, one sensor would not program even though it tested to be working properly. Sam suspected the module, but with it being a Subaru part he referred me to the dealership and refunded part of the charge because he couldn't program it. The module was replaced, but 2 months later the tire sensor light returned. Subaru insisted it was a bad sensor and wanted me to replace it. I had Sam check the sensors again, and take a picture of the sensors, all reading good. Sam thought the module had failed again. I took this info back to Subaru and Sam urged the rep there to look beyond the tire sensor. Sure enough, module failure. But it was from a water leak and Subaru wanted hundreds to search for and repair the leak. Sam and I reminded Subaru of there own technical guidance on where a leak might be coming from. Sam suggested that I take the car to an independent body shop for evaluation as this was not a mechanical issue. I did and they were able to fix the issue at a fraction the cost the dealership wanted to charge. Sam could have just walked away, but he became my advocate to find and solve the problem. Many thanks Sam. I highly recommend S&S.

I also expected a detailed inspection for $130, but received very little information. I had to keep asking questions, and I still didn't get clear explanations about my car. The conversation focused mostly on selling me new tires, even though I explained multiple times that my priority was checking the engine, transmission, and suspension first. I've had a much better experience here before with Sam during a radiator replacement. Unfortunately, this visit was completely different. 06/25/2026

It reminds me of other family run businesses like In and Out and Chick fil A where you're valued as a customer, the prices are always fair, and the quality & service stands out. First time at this Mountain View location for tire rotation and it was relatively quick as we had an appointment.

I push back and ask him specifically which puncture is actually causing the leak. He starts checking and finds out the one near the sidewall isn't even the issue -- it's the other punctures. So now the original reason to refuse goes out the window. Then he pivots. Goes over to my front driver side tire -- completely different axle, opposite corner of the car -- and says he won't service my vehicle because of the condition of that tire. Points to a specific line in their internal policy: "2/32 Inches or Less." I read it right there in front of him. That row describes what they can and can't do with a tire that IS itself at 2/32" -- it says nothing about refusing to patch a completely separate tire on a different axle. He misapplied his own policy. Also worth noting: that same policy line has a green checkmark under "Inflate" -- meaning by their own chart they'd inflate a 2/32" tire but won't touch a perfectly separate tire on the other side of the car. Make it make sense. I asked him to put the refusal and the reason in writing. Wouldn't do it. Just kept pointing at the policy -- the same one that doesn't actually back up what he was saying. And here's the part that gets me -- if it's a safety issue, why'd you let me drive off? No waiver, no documentation, nothing. Just sent me on my way with the puncture still in the tire and the "unsafe" tire still on the car. That's not a safety call, that's a sales call. Posting the policy photo so you can read it yourself. Filed a complaint with the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. If this sounds familiar at this location, you can do the same at bar.ca.gov.
