Ordered a beer from Arbor brewery the classic blonde, fantastic crisp tasting beer. Then ordered the Beet salad with goat cheese, walnuts and red onion with balsamic, what a fresh tasting salad. Then we got the pepperoni pizza I'm sorry to my home town Detroit but I like super thin pizza. Pizza was made to my perfection. Super thin perfectly darkened crust. Nicely spiced pepperoni. We ordered takeout from here last weekend. Part of the order was Potato Croquettes and on the order form is the option to make it Vegan which we selected on our order. BUT, when we went to pick up our order the hostess said they could not be made Vegan so we had to order something else while we waited 15 minutes for the replacement item to be prepared. They were offering 50% off all pizza on the menu so I said, why not. I wanted to try them for a while and the special offer was a good opportunity to do so. Ordering process was quick and easy, we arrived at suggested time at the restaurant and they were quickly out with our order. We got one classic red pizza with vegan cheese (extra $3) and one pepperoni with mushroom. I have to say, this was by far the best vegan pizza I had so far. I'm talking about the vegan cheese here. I have to admit that finding a good vegan cheese substitute for pizza is not easy but here they nailed it. Not sure what brand they use but it's delicious. Such a beautiful restaurant. While parking is very difficult to find, this restaurant is worth the 3 block walk I had to endure just to find a spot. Overall, the atmosphere is inviting, the music set at the perfect volume, warm lighting, cozy tables, and extra long windows overlooking Main St. make this the perfect date night spot. I ordered a glass of Baia Sauvignon Blanc which was delicious, the Wood Roasted Beet salad which was yummy! Fresh arugula, delicious beets, walnuts, fresh goat cheese, and vinaigrette made for a delicious start to my meal. For dinner, I had the Gluten-Free Roasted Tomato Pizza which was AMAZING! In full transparency, we only did takeout from this restaurant so I can't give a full review on their service. While picking up the pizza, I stepped inside and waited near their kiosk. Despite getting someone's attention and being told one minute, it's still took 10 minutes for someone to come over and actually speak to me/hand me the pizzas that we're sitting on the counter. The pizza was mediocre. I ordered the Prosciutto di Parma, which was okay - just didn't hit the spot. We also ordered a Pizza Nutella. The topping tasted like a chunky textured, bland chocolate sauce instead of Nutella. The strawberries were not very fresh tasting. They did offer us 1 free dessert to our group, which we took. But once we got home, I realized how poorly we were treated. They ended up forgetting one of our pizza orders. Very pricey for the portion size. The tiny bowl of pasta was $18 and it came with nothing. Just that little bowl of pasta! The pasta was very tasty, but I wouldn't order it again for that price. The pizzas are pricey for small personal pizzas too. Between the service and price, it's not really worth it for pizza and pasta. The staff who worked were very nice and were trying to do what they could. Pretty environment. However, the food offerings are average at best, but I think the drinks and pizza are the strong points. Otherwise, the entrees are not particularly inspired and less than eye catching. In fact, one of my friends thought one of the pasta dishes looked like it was microwaved (which was a valid assessment). Like 4.5/5 stars, so I will round up to 5. I believe this was my second time at this location, but the first time was in like 2012 or 2013. I've been to Bigalora's Southfield and Ann Arbor locations too, and the pizza is always tasty; this time was no exception. We started with the Brussels sprouts ($7), which were good although more savory than sweet - they came topped with Gran Padana cheese, I believe, and were in maybe a red wine vinegar. We were kind of in a rush (heading to see Avengers afterwards) and we told our waitress that, and all of our food came out super fast, which was nice, although the Brussels came out at almost the same time as the pizzas. We split the prosciutto pizza (a white pizza), which was much more delicious than I thought it would be, as well as a margherita buffala pizza (with buffalo cheese, my favorite). Both were very tasty. Bigalora is not an inexpensive place - pizzas range from like $12-17, with our buffala pizza being $17 - but you get what you pay for there. My boyfriend also had a Founders Backwoods Bastard ($9, but $7 during happy hour, as draft beers are $2 off), and really enjoyed it; I took a sip and it was pretty tasty, even though I don't usually like stouts/stout-like beers. This Bigalora location is really nice and has a loft-style feel to it, too. There IS free parking, located to the side of the building, but not very many spots, so we ended up paying for parking at the lot across the street. I had a family dinner here this weekend. I love rigatoni with bolognese sauce and this dish didn't disappoint. Generous serving( took half home for later) and piping hot. My granddaughter devoured her spaghetti. My wife enjoyed her appetizers. My daughter enjoyed her stuffed shells. Service was unusual, they bring the dishes out as they are prepared so plan on sharing or possibly waiting a bit until your entree arrives. It wasn't inconvenient, just different. The advantage was that every dish was hot! The waitress was hopping to serve the 5 of us but was very pleasant and engaging. The venue is noisy but there is both indoor and outdoor seating available. Several local craft beers were on tap in the small bar area while waiting for our table. Nothing to complain about here! Definitely on our repeat list when in town. read more

This was my third time going to Bigalora. I would've liked to give them a 5 but there were just a few things that could be better. Their parking lot of very small and had to park up main street and limited for two hours and our wait for our table was one hour, was hoping but to go over and called it very close. I do wish there was better parking accommodations. Also, they are a very busy establishment on the weekends (and rightfully so) and have a staircase that goes up to the entrance where the host stand is. Every time I have been there, the host stand seems chaotic and you aren't sure, who's waiting to talk with the host (or hostess), waiting to be sat, or waiting to pick up a carry out. It can be very congested, I just wish there was more room or some way to organize the chaos. Maybe even an overflow room? Sometimes people are waiting on the stairs and can be congested even before you even walk in. Once you get parked and past the host stand things can finally calm down and can relax. Our dining experience was very good though. The server was very attentive and friendly. We did start with the calamari, which is one thing I would suggest skipping. Even though the breading was a light brown the calamari itself was a bit too chewy almost like it was over cooked but the color of the breading would've most likely been darker. I did like the fried pepperoncini with it though. The pizza of course is where it's at! We had the two pizzas: Salumeria with house blend mozzarella, pepperoni, pancetta, bacco sausage and roasted fennel & Pistachio with pistachio pesto, burrata cheese, Italian sausage, and lemon confit. I have to say I didn't regret either of these, they were both delicious for different reasons. The Salumeria was a thinner crust but full of flavor from the red sauce and the different cuts of meat. The pistachio was just my slightly more favorite of the two, the dough was fluffier but not too doughy and the lemon confit with the pistachio pesto paired so nicely together and was a combination I wouldn't normally think of putting together. You can't go wrong ordering that if you are trying something different. The server even recommended it when I was torn between two different pizzas and glad she did because I would definitely go back and get that again. When I am thinking about good pizza this is somewhere I like to go, just wish it was easier to park and get sat. I might need to check out the other locations to see if they have less challenges getting to the table. read more

I enjoy this spot more in the summertime because of the outdoor seating. Both indoor and outdoor seating is crammed with tightly packed tables and seats. Smoked salmon pizza was ehhh. I've been here a couple times over the years and I'm never disappointed. The restaurant has lots of street parking and public lots nearby. I've gotten a bunch of different pizzas, salads, and pastas and I am always satisfied. The decor is hip and trendy, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and the service is great. If you like smoked salmon, I would suggest the smoked salmon pizza. As for pasta, the spaghetti with clams is delicious. But there are a ton of different options and I'd advise checking out the menu ahead of time to get familiar with the choices. The food came out really fast and hot. But this sauce was perfect fresh and flavorful, just really delicious. I would've liked some fresh herbs on top but I did that with my leftovers. And there were leftovers because it was a very generous portion at what I thought was a fair price. Chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
