My family of five and a guest had a great dinner at Maggiano's for New Years Day. We enjoyed their family feast. At $44 each for adults and a shockingly good deal of $14 per kid under 12 (we had two of them) it was a pricey dinner but we are still eating off it days later. We had the two salads. The Maggiano house salad was the better of the two. The Caesar was just ok. Then we had the calamari which was quite good with lemon juice just a little less so with their marinara. The tomato bruschetta was also good. Our lineup of 4 entrees included lasagna which was unremarkable and could have been hotter. We also had chicken piccatra which was perfect and among the best parts of the meal. The beef medallions with mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and crispy onions was also a standout. The balsamic cream sauce on that was delicious. The rigatoni ala vodka was also well received by all. Finally, the dessert included lemon cookies (okay), tiramisu (good), chocolate cake (mixed reviews but I liked it), and cheesecake with sauce and strawberries (also quite good). My wife and I had a nice Riesling and Margarita respectively. Our service was very kind but the meal took a long time. I left painfully full with four bags of leftovers! I have been here before but not in a few years. Any time I have been here the place has been packed it was so slow they only had a few tables. It was nicely decorated for Christmas in the lobby bar area. The staff was friendly. I ordered the branzino Imperial. It was branzino encrusted with their crab cake mixture. It also came garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus in a lobster sauce. The sauce tasted like lobster bisque. The mashed potatoes was very gold and creamy and the asparagus was cooked well. The crab overpowered the branzino. It was as if it was a crab cake instead of the branzino that was flattened and dense. I would not recommend. The sides were great the bread was nice and fresh. The server was outgoing. I have liked this place before and I should have stuck to the shrimp scampi. read more

This was a little taste of Italy...well maybe not sure but tasted like Italy to me! Maggiano's is a nice restaurant to bring a date, a loved one, a friend or even just for a single day out. They have a good menu with a variety of things that match the type of restaurant you're at. It doesn't make a lot of gimmicky food or extra things that makes no sense. Come hungry because the portions are very generous. The spaghetti and wagyu meat balls were a hit. My son told me that my spaghetti is great, but my spaghetti isn't Italian spaghetti so this was great Italian spaghetti. And mine is just a non Italian mom spaghetti . And I have to admit, I feel I make amazing spaghetti, but this was pretty good. I'm not really a fan of marinara style sauces because I feel they always have too many tomato skins/sticks in them (if that makes sense). But this wasn't skin/stick like at all. It was pure puree (like I do myself). The taste was just amazing. The meatballs were very generous in size. They also had an amazing flavor to them. So I would order the appetizer again. The spaghetti gives you one, but one is enough because it's a big size. I was not a fan of the steak. It was cooked to a nice medium, but it was kind of a tough piece of meat. It wasn't tender at all and it was very dry. Which was disappointing because it had good flavor. I hate mashed potatoes (if you read any of my reviews before) but the mashed potatoes were my favorite thing on my plate. The broccoli had this chunky not fully cooked butter or something on it that just wasn't appealing. Tasted good however. Bread service was great and they always kept our table and drinks filled. I have to say the ginger ale was great too. Not sure what they use, but I would order that again. Overall I will come back and try some other pasta dishes. Maggiano's has a warm, welcoming vibe. The service was attentive, the space was clean, and we were off to a great start with the complimentary bread--fresh, warm, and seriously delicious. The chicken parm? Totally hit the spot. But then things went downhill. The seafood pasta was super disappointing. The shrimp and lobster were so overcooked they were borderline inedible--rubbery and tough, which completely ruined what should've been a standout dish. And the tomato bruschetta had amazing flavor, but the bread was soggy like it sat under the topping way too long before coming out. They have changed their bread. They now have a dinner roll that does not come close to the previous offering. They ditched the Italian parmigiana and olive oil for a much cheaper option. Not enough handicap parking when I got there around 1 PM I had to park in the back and since there is no entrance from there I had a long walk to the front door which was very difficult for me. The food was good with the calamari and shrimp scampi was some of the best I have had. The Beef was also good. The Mom's lasagna was too spicy. It was a company holiday party so food was served family style and set menu. Service was what you expect and having a bar in the private dining room help the quick beverage service. I attended my nieces bridal shower on 6/13 and I can't say enough positive things about it!! All the food was so good!! Especially the beef medallions and mashed potatoes!! Absolutely horrible Mother's Day experience. We arrived at 3:30 PM and did not receive our main courses until almost 5:50 PM. The food was cold, hard, and clearly sitting out far too long before being served. For a table of 8 on one of the busiest family holidays of the year, this was completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, our waitress ignored our table for long periods of time and did not put the food in on time. Communication was terrible throughout the entire experience. The managers did very little to fix the situation besides offering 25% off the bill, which barely covered 2 people out of 8. Nothing was offered to genuinely make up for the experience, despite the excessive wait time and poor food quality. When we said the food was cold and not very tasty, no one went out of their way to make it up to us, the waitress just said I am trying my best. Based on this EXCESSIVE TIME WAIT, I do not believe anyone was even trying. Waitress asked if we wanted any of the food boxed up. Based on how she prompted her question it sounded as if she would box it up for us like most high quality restaurants especially Italian ones. She ofc did not, why would we expect her to. Even after the complaints about wait time she did not do ANYTHING to make us feel taken care of, for example not even SIMPLY boxing up our food. We asked if we could get our dessert to go and if it would take another hour for it to come out. The managers response was "possibly." As someone who has worked in food service before, a respectful response would be, yes I can go get that for you right now. Our jaws were open after being in there for 3 hours, you tell us that you possibly can get us dessert within the HOUR?? Horrible customer service!!!!!! If your waitress's name is Julie ask for another one!!!!! We understand holidays are busy, but this level of service and lack of accountability was beyond disappointing. Tables next to us received food and left at reasonable times. Clearly either a waitress problem or kitchen. Definitely not the Mother's Day celebration we expected. I had high hopes for this restaurant based on a recommendation by some friends but was a bit underwhelmed with our meals. We ended up getting the meal for two people (two salads, two entrees and a shared desert) where the salads and dessert we quite good but the entree's (Chicken Fettuccini and Chicken Marsala) were just average, not bad but nothing to write home about. The setting, ambiance and friendly professional staff of this restaurant are quite nice and definately give off an upscale feel about this business but unfortunately the entree's are not up to the same standard. Not sure if we caught this business on an off nite, but for the price point they really need to pick up their game on the entree side of the business. As this restaurant is a bit of a trek from our home in West Bloomfield I am truly not seeing enough here to justify the long ride especially at this price point but do appreciate the nicer aspects of this business to include the upscale ambiance, friendly staff and good sides and deserts. read more

I visited Maggiano's for the first time yesterday, and I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the interior was much fancier than anticipated. Not a complaint--just an observation! My waitress, Tanisha, was phenomenal. She checked on me every time she passed my table, and I loved the attentive service. They start you off with bread and oil, but honestly, they could've skipped it. The bread was rock-hard, and the oil had zero flavor. For my meal, I ordered the Maggiano's side salad and the Rigatoni "D" for my entrée. The salad was a bit of a letdown--it was mostly lettuce with very few toppings, but the dressing saved it and provided most of the flavor. I was surprised they included blue cheese crumbles but don't offer blue cheese dressing. Very odd. I tried the house dressing and a side of Italian, and while the house dressing was good, their Italian dressing was the real star--absolutely delicious! The Rigatoni "D" arrived piping hot, which I appreciated because lukewarm food is the worst. However, it completely lacked flavor. I had to ask for salt, and even the grated Parmesan I added didn't do much to help. Went back to try the return of the meat sauce. Hard to believe they tried to replace this with an awful bolognese sauce, which is still on the menu. I'm really not sure why. New meat sauce was just OK. It was not as good as the prior recipe. We understand they're bringing the baked ziti back again, so we'll have to try it again and see how things go. I don't know why they needed to change in the first place. Bread basket is some better too! Love the interior decor. Just went for my mom's birthday. The restaurant is decorated for Christmas and looks very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. You get soooo much food with your order it was basically enough for 2 meals. Got the chicken Parmesan it was pretty good, I've gotten the chicken picatta before and I'd definitely recommend that. The best part was the butter cake with brown butter glaze- it was so delicious. And they brought out some of the lemon cookies with a candle for my mom's birthday! Another wasted Uber gift card because restaurants in this area just really don't care about deliveries, and Maggiano's is no exception. I don't know in what world this is bolognese. This is haphazardly huge chunks of undercooked carrot, celery and onions topping a lasagna. In fact, the celery isn't even cooked thoroughly. I have a sneaking suspicion that the kitchen screwed up the sauce and that's why there was a deal for add another lasagna for $10, which I did and this is the slop I got. If you look at the other pictures lasagna on the site, there is no indication that it would resemble Campbell's Chunky Soup. If I had been in the restaurant and ordered this, I would've sent it back immediately. I don't have to worry about that now because I will never visit on site because I'm just so disappointed by what they delivered. read more

'lve been going to Maggiano's for a while now, and honestly it just doesn't feel like the same restaurant it used to be. What made Maggiano's stand out before was how consistent everything was. You could order your favorite dish and know exactly how it would taste every time. The food used to taste fresh, well-seasoned, and like it was made with real care. Recently though, it feels like something has changed. The biggest issue I've noticed is the inconsistency. Sometimes the food is still good, but other times the same exact dish tastes different from the last time I ordered it. It almost feels like the recipes have been changed or the ingredients aren't as fresh as they used to be. The sauces don't always have the same rich flavor, and some dishes feel more plain than before. When people go to a restaurant they like, they expect that same quality every visit, and lately that hasn't always been the case. Another thing I've noticed is the overall experience doesn't feel as special as it once did. Maggiano's used to feel like a place you could go for a really nice meal and know it would be worth the money. Now it sometimes feels like they might be focusing more on speed or volume instead of making sure every plate meets the same standard. Even small things like presentation and seasoning seem to change depending on the day. I'm not saying Maggiano's is bad, because it still has good moments and I know what they are capable of. That's actually why this is disappointing, because I've seen how good it can be when everything is done right. It just feels like they are changing things that didn't need to be changed. Sometimes restaurants try to update menus or cut costs, but when that affects the taste and consistency, customers definitely notice. I really hope Maggiano's can get back to what made it great in the first place. Consistency, quality ingredients, and attention to detail are what built their reputation. If they focused on making sure every meal tasted like it used to, I think a lot of longtime customers would feel a lot better about coming back. Overall, I still think Maggiano's can be a good restaurant, but right now it just feels like it's changing too much and not always for the better. 5 of us went on a Saturday. Place was jammed. We had reservations and we still waited 15 minutes to be seated. Unacceptable. When we were seated after water our server came 10 minutes later. Hmm. Got the drink order. Took fifteen minutes to get drinks. For got my beer. 5 minutes more. The staff was overwhelmed. After this initial hiccup everything flowed food is outstanding. First of all, our waitress, Monica, was an all star. So attentive and sweet. Made sure our drinks were full and made multiple trips to our table to make sure we were doing okay. Now, the food. Apps were delicious. Well actually everything was delicious and that's saying a lot coming from a South Asian family that loves spicy food and not so much pasta. Can't go wrong with the crispy mozzarella. Delicious and cheesy. Calamari Fritté was crispy and not fishy at all. The Italian chopped salad was my favorite. So much flavor and the veggies were fresh. So yummy I couldn't stop eating it! The mains were also delicious. Nothing was bland. The blackened salmon w/ crispy Calabrian shrimp had a kick and my dad loved it. He asked for it extra spicy and let me tell you, they delivered. Spaghetti with meat sauce was simple, but seasoned beautifully. The portion was HUGE! 3 ppl at the table got the chicken Marsala and said it was their favorite. Chicken was light and crispy. Paired beautifully with the buttery noodles. Dessert was shared between all 5 of us. The chocolate cake was again, HUGE, like all the other dishes. If you love chocolate then you must get it. I wanted to eat the whole thing on my own! I have to agree with Johnny T. Review. I've been here many times and loved it's consistency. Went there yesterday for lunch and it was so different, I was really disappointed. They used to serve Italian bread with a plate of olive oil and herbs. Now they offer what tastes like Hawaiian rolls. I like rolls but not with pasta. Maybe with pulled pork at a barbeque. I ordered pasta with meat sauce with hardly any mean in it and very dried up pasta like they heated it in a microwave. Even the waitress said, let me get you some more sauce. Ordered the chopped salad. It was so spicy with peppers that I couldn't eat it. No the same chopped salad I'm used to. So disappointed as this was one of my go to places. First time here and i was impressed. The atmosphere is beautiful. Dining room is immaculate. We had reservations and we were greeted immediately and sat right away. The meatball appetizer was great! Right amount of sauce and spice. the chicken marsala was flavored beautifully. The Alfredo was just as it should be. The creme brûlée ended the night perfectly. The loss of star was our server. Came here as part of a large group and got a bunch of food to be shared family style. It was billed as a "fancy Olive Garden", but I was underwhelmed. The cheese was pre-grated and the red pepper flakes were not fresh. The service was average, I think I would rather go to Olive Garden to be honest. Calamari Fritte- The star appetizer! The legs were super crispy and so were the rings. The sauce was good too, but the squid was seasoned enough that it didn't need any dipping really. Everyone at this table loved it. Balsalmic Tomato Bruschetta- There wasn't enough toppings for this dish. The diced tomatoes kept falling off the bread slices and the pesto was minimal. I wouldn't get this again. Italian tossed salad and Caeser salad- pretty standard salads. I wish they had served the dressing on the side, but the salads were standard freshness, no issues. A lot of toppings! Fettuccine Alfredo- No complaints here. The pasta and sauce tasted pre-prepared, nothing special. Cooked slightly over al dente. Mom's Meat Lasagna- Deceptively small but super filling. I couldn't tell what meat it was, supposedly beef and sausage. It was pretty good. Chicken Piccata- Somehow salty and dry at the same time. Salmon, lemon and herb- Similarly salty but more moist than the chicken. Roasted garlic broccoli- This was more steamed than roasted, but the texture was on point. There was barely discernable garlic unfortunately. Gigi's butter cake- This was phenominal. The cake was rich and the brown butter glaze gave the cake moistness. This is an awesome family style Italian place in Troy MI. They are located right on the main road and have plenty of parking available in their own parking lot. Their interior decor was soft and subtle. Their service was impeccable and their staff was all very smiling and helpful. They have some great options for food and have quite a few vegetarian options. They do have one maybe two vegan options as well. They are family friendly and business casual too. Their desserts are off this world! Delicious chocolate cake and cheesecake. I just love this place. Even though it's a large chain restaurant, owned by a larger company that owns other chain restaurants, like Chilis, to me the food is good here. It's been years since I came, maybe 10 years. Most importantly what can make it break a place is the service, and on my night here the service was top notch. Our waitress was younger, but she did a good job. Also, the bus staff was attentive. When we came here it was on weekday evening, early December 2022, so not too busy. I had no issues with entrees, and it's nice that they offer a second one for cheap to go. Very cool. The ambience is old school high end Italian. It's clean, well lit, and lots of nice woodwork. It's not bad bread but seems like bread for a steak house .it doesn't seem Italian. The menu has changed . Some of my favorites weren't on the menu but the server said we could order them because they brought them back. Also no Parmesan cheese in the table anymore . Clearly a cost cutting move . They didn't even offer me cheese . I had to ask and they brought me a little cup. Needless to say I won't be back anytime soon. It isn't formal dining but it's nice and the food is certainly a set up in comparison to other Italian chain restaurants. Our service was good, people always there is you needed something. The house salad for starter was good, and all entrees tasted fresh. I had salmon and it was cooked nicely and had good flavor, and mushroom ravioli was good as well.
