Even though it was 730am the place was fairly busy. This seems to be similar to the Naperville location where customers grab n go vs sit down and hang out. This location is more spacious compared to Naperville though and they do have a good amount of indoor seating. I tried the morning sunrise breakfast bagel sandwich which comes with scrambled eggs. I added cheddar cheese and veggie cream cheese. The portion is generous and priced well. They are not stingy when it comes to giving ingredients. My only 'con' is I thought the bagel was kind of plain. I asked for sourdough and may have gotten a plain bagel by mistake, no worries though. Everything else made up for it. I really enjoy the texture and flavor of the cream cheeses here and their bagels are exactly how I like them. Thick enough and fluffy.

I ordered a sesame bagel with strawberry cream cheese. As I was eating it, I started to wonder why it tasted like cinnamon, and then I noticed there were nuts in it. I realized they gave me the cranberry walnut cream cheese (I didn't notice right away because the color was still slightly pink and the flavor was fruity). It was good so I still ate it, but it was a bit disappointing to not get what I was looking forward to. We told the employees before we left, and they apologized and said they'd remake it, but I had already eaten the entire bagel so I told them no it's okay. We mainly just wanted to tell them so they'll be more careful. Some people have allergies, and I can't imagine if I unknowingly ate something I was allergic to. They sell tubs of the strawberry cream cheese for $8, so we purchased one to take home. I like that they always have new types of seasonal coffee creations and this time I got an iced coconut mocha. Their options of cream cheese are also amazing. Service is always fast, so don't let any long line discourage you. The quality of everything here is 5/5. I just sometimes find the value not always hitting the mark. Some days my bagel sandwiches have more substance inside, some times there's less. When they make your sandwiches hearty, the price is justified. When they don't put as much inside, it's hard to justify the value because you know you've gotten better made sandwiches. Their coffee is also very overpriced for what it is. It's not good enough to justify over $5 for a tiny iced coffee, especially when they're using a corporate brand coffee. Wish they'd find some local coffee, then the price would be more justified. Regardless, the taste is always spot on. Just wish they had hash browns!

It was a solid 7, which is why I place it at 3.5 stars. I may be being picky here but it just wasn't to the level of "melt-in-your-mouth" pastrami standards for me. Not to say it wasn't good, because it was perfectly fine. In fact, it's better than most of the pastrami sandwiches I tried in Chicagoland. Maybe it's the fact that I had to bring it back to the office to eat it, and half hour had gone by and pastrami weren't as warm and the Jewish rye had become soggy by the time I took the first bite. I mean, it goes without saying that the sandwich would have been 3 times better had I sat down immediately and had it. Again, all things considered, it was a perfectly good sandwich. One interesting thing was that I had never been to an establishment that included a half sour pickle instead of a normal one and gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. Pickles can be a hit or a miss for me. I like my pickles to be crunch, but some places offer overripened ones that become borderline mushy. Schmaltz's half sour pickle was not overly salty or sour, making it very attractive for me. The more I'm thinking about it, I'm convinced that I'll have to go back and try their #14 Sloppy Paul, which is the corned beef with sauerkraut, which is another favorite of mine. And this time, I'll be sure to dine in and give another review of it to see how much I like them better.
