The first time I let it go cause thinking it could be a mistake but the same thing again!! Please count your order before pick up!! This guy thinks he can short sale people and become rich! The butcher in this store is really arrogant and disrespectful towards customers. He just cools off his heals taking rest , but denies to serve the customer . I went to the meat counter and waited for almost 10 mins , then when I asked for service at the front counter , the butcher directly told me that I would have to wait for 10 more mins . If there are specific hours when the butcher will provide service, the management should clearly mention that to the customers. I have been a SpiceMart customer for 7 years , and I have had similar experience in the past also . I would request SpiceMart owners and management to look into this , as you are only losing business . read more

There front counter guy is extremely rude and unprofessional. There were items missing from our grocery order pickup and when we called to sort it out the guy was not able to figure out the order because he was not paying attention. Then he started to shout and was being abusive. Eventually a different guy comes on the phone and tells me that the guy is temp and his name is Rajiv Singh, which i do not think is correct. The guy i was talking to is always on the front counter and definitely not a singh. I feel he was trying to take advantage of current situation and did not think he will get caught. This is simply being dishonest and when he got caught he started to yell. read more

Ordered almost $200 worth of food only to find out everything was either mediocre or seriously under par. Paneer was too hard, Veg Pakoras too dry, Fish Amritsari a disgrace, Garlic Naan's were the worst ever I had in my life, hard and chewy and EXACTLY like the frozen ones available in a grocery store (same size and all) but even worse after they prepared them, saag and tandoori chicken were ok but no chutney whatsoever. Not sure what's with these bad reviews. The food here is great! Especially considering it's a grocery store! The goat biryani is FIRE. It's a bengali-style recipe with chunks of tender meat (which means it won't have a ton of spices like the traditional Indian recipes but that's just the way it's made - it doesn't warrant 1 star reviews like some people have posted). Also tried the Jamun which tasted just like my grandmother's home recipe - if not better. Be ready to wait a while for your food (45 minutes for takeout) so call ahead! I also tried the naan and chicken tikka masala which was not bad. The star of the show is the biryani and their sweets. Try them out. read more

I would give this place a negative rating if I could. We just picked up the order I placed for groceries. When We came back home certain items were missing. Fair enough, things like these happen. So I call in to figure this out, the guy I was talking to was extremely unprofessional and was singing songs talking to multiple people. Eventually started to shout. I placed the order and my cousin was picking it , such a small thing confused them, I even mentioned that I will call ahead of time to confirm when I am there. So I still do not see the issue. Even then instead of trying to resolve the situation the guys starts to shout and was extremely rude. Eventually someone else took over and told me the guys on the phone was Rajiv Sing and is a temp. Which I do not think is the case. I believe that the guy I was talking to is generally always in the front when we go there for shopping. I would warn everyone else to look for another grocery store because I feel this is trying to take advantage of the current situation that we are in, as people are avoiding to go and pick up groceries. This place is a bit far from my house. But I drive the extra miles because the staff is courteous, and the taste is great. Really good food! Great samosa chaat. Samosas seem small But flavor and taste is excellent! And I believe the chicken 65 is probably the best ive had anywhere. Keep up the good work. I will give 5 star for the meat section. But Beware of the sweets and savories, the taste of bad oil overcomes the taste of sweet, which in indian terms is totally unacceptable. I tried Mysore pa and jalebi, at different occasions - the oil taste was so bad and we trashed it. read more

As usual, the parking lot is what I check first - There was ample parking in front of the store. On multiple occasions, I was greeted by the friendly staff, who greeted other customers too; many by name. This is always a good sign! The store was neat, with clean aisles surrounded by well stocked shelves of spices, pickles, curry powders, and condiments to cater to the various sub-cultures of residents from the Indian sub-continent. The store also has a custom butcher shop for fresh chicken and goat meat. Often, the butcher will chop the meat to the customers' specifications! The front refrigerated display cases have an assortment of Indian sweets; too many varieties to list here. Food "to go" is freshly prepared and when orders are called-in or placed via the internet, will be ready to pick up at a convenient time. This is a nice feature that I sometimes use while riding on the Metra! Ask for Chicken Tikka Masala (Favorite in Britain), or Chicken/Goat Biriyani, and you won't go wrong! If you are looking for a well stocked, organized Indian store; then this is not the place to go to. To begin with, as is customary in most stores; most of the items do not have prices mentioned on them (or on the rack they are placed or in the aisle they are located). This is ideal from the store owner's viewpoint; since you are in the dark about the prices and will almost always overpay on items at the register! Add to this, the extremely unhealthy food that is served (they have a take-out menu) and it makes this place less desirable. Similar to another Yelp poster who mentioned losing their faith in this place because of the watered down food; we have too, but because of tastelessness and healthiness: their butter chicken was a paste, chicken 65 had tough chicken pieces and the chicken noodles were raw with blandness - the chicken felt uncooked and the noodles were bland. This is depressing because we had indeed ordered food from them that was slightly better than average, once upon a time. We stick to the place called 'Jalaram Plaza', also in Naperville, that is ethical - with prices clearly mentioned everywhere, an incentive if you shop for greater than a particular amount, and a staggering array of well - organized Indian food items (masalas, atta, rice, chivdas, chips, sweets, frozen veggies, biscuits etc.) of excellent quality per unit price. If this place wants to improve, I suggest: 1) Clearly marking prices on every item in the store 2) Organizing the store better 3) Hire a separate team only in charge of the 'restaurant / take - out' section of the business and focus on quality 4) Increasing the number of items in the store and competitively marking them to attract more customers and grow business. read more

This is the best place to get Indian carry out food that's reasonably priced. The guy in charge is awesome, always helpful. We love the butter chicken and the chicken samosas, always getting those to go for parties and everyday endulgance. The rest of the food is very tasting too. I absolutely love this place! The main cashier who is working every time I go in is extremely friendly, always offering up new samples of the prepared foods or sweets behind the counter. They have a small selection of fresh produce, and a very large selection of spices and premixed spice packages. I always get my dad a few of the frozen prepared desserts, which they have a large selection of. They also operate a carry-out portion of the store, and it is owned by the same gentleman who operates another delicious Indian restaurant in Naperville. The meat/butcher section looks fantastic, but I haven't personally picked up anything from that counter yet. The only drawback with this store, and is common in these small stores, is that nothing is priced- so it can be quite a surprise sometimes when you get to the counter. read more

Do not let the name of this place fool you like it did me. It is not a place to buy spices but rather an Indian grocery store. I love Indian food so was excited to find this place....until I walked in. The store is dirty, extremely disorganized, and unless you are Indian the staff won't even acknowledge you. The only highlight of this place is they sell super cheap lentils, however because of the condition of the store I wouldn't recommend using them without washing them thoroughly first. read more

Sorry that the other reviewer had a bad experience. It's called practicing cultural relativity. This place has the best Indian take out. If you want warm and fuzzies with spic and span, go to super target and ask the friendly employee for the international aisle. I prefer something closer to the real experience in India even if it doesn't jive with my American upbringing. To date, the best malai kofta and chilie chicken I've had. I ordered a small tray of mutton biriyani for a small party. I picked up the tray on a Saturday at 5 pm and when I opened the tray at 7 pm the biriyani was smelling bad and throw away the entire tray. Just for this reason, I would rate half a star. read more

Went there last week and bought 1 lbs of their So called "fresh" Jalebi. Absolutely horrible quality and shouldn't be even called Jalebi. Worst we ever had. Don't know what that is. Why do I go here - you get everything that you could need. 1 star less because the stocking of the stuff is a mess and I would not at all recommend eating their pre-cooked food as it will upset your stomach. Spice Mart is a combo Indian grocery and food carry out. They have an extensive carry out menu with very reasonable prices. If you are looking for Indian carry out, this is your place. The food is delicious and is as good or better than any Indian restaurant I've been to. We've picked up food two weekends in a row if that says anything. The menu is on the wall and not online, my suggestion would be to make it available online so that more people know what to order. The grocery section is well stocked and prices are on everything I saw. The people who work there are very friendly and if you are not an expert in all dishes they have or Indian cuisine in general, they were happy to answer questions. read more

INGREDIENTS are not mentioned on food box and they use DALDA (HYDROGENATED FAT usually derived from animal fat). Most of their food contains dalda, other unhealthy stuff... which you will know after eating the food. They sell organic chicken but they take the chicken from a normal refrigerator no label nothing. If they mention the food Ingredients people who are concerned about health, allergies will not take them but the problem is they don't mention and we will knew it after eating the food. I am not sure about the process but would like to complain to food administrator and have an inspection done. read more

I am a big fan of their aloo parathas. I have bought them for some of my friends and they all love it too. Whenever I get craving for their aloo parathas, I call and order and go pick up in 20 mins. Best I have eaten anywhere. Have become a loyal customer mainly for their aloo parathas. Only little issue is, they pack the parathas really hot in plastic bags that don't have vents to let the steam out and so the parathas get little wet by the time I pick them up. Wish they address this. That is why the four stars. read more

I love their take out menu. Naans, vegetable biryani, butter paneer tikka masala is yumm. I love their saag paneer too. We also order the chicken tikka masala and gobi manchurian is super tasty. Although you have to keep in mind their food is spicy and you will have to clearly mention to bring it a notch down if you cant handle the heat. Not at all pricey...but super delicious. 30-40 mins of wait time betw ordering on the phone and go fetch it. read more
