Traveled over to Washington from Farmville (about 45 min) on Friday night to celebrate our 33rd Anniversary. We found Biggs French Italian Eatery about 6-9 months ago. Small, quaint, with amazingly delicious cuisine. After sharing a large garden salad, my wife ordered the Bourbon Chicken and I the Steak Diane. We loved it! The service is prompt and attentive. The restaurant did not seem well organized during our visit. While we were there for lunch, two separate couples got up and left after waiting without being served. The staff was polite, but the service felt scattered and inconsistent. The Blue Crab Bisque was disappointing, as it contained numerous shell fragments. The French onion soup was unusual and not what I expected. The Caesar salad was lacking Parmesan cheese, and after a long wait for the dressing, it arrived tasting nothing like a traditional Caesar dressing. On a positive note, the Hemingway Cubano was quite good and was easily the highlight of the meal. Overall, the experience was mostly underwhelming. While there were a few bright spots, the food quality and service issues made it difficult to justify a return visit. read more

Four of us for lunch. No reservations just walked in. we got the last available table. This place is small and the high degree of food coming out of the kitchen means probably need a reservation next time. But it is nice inside and I think they deserve a much better location. We got carbonara, shrimp and grits, chicken parm and scallops st joc. Home made pasta and fresh baked bread. Everything was fantastic really. Especially the foie gras appetizer. Stunning! Don't be fooled by the small exterior, this place has a decent amount of seating and a very extensive menu. We popped in on a weeknight and were lucky they had room for us; next time we will make a reservation. My husband had a chicken parm sandwich and, although it was fresh and tasty, he thought it could have used a little more seasoning. He really liked his chowder, and I really liked my muffaletta sandwich. It was warm and toasty, fresh off the panini press. Service was very good. We'll definitely return - I'm eager to try their fresh pasta. read more

Hubby sent me down from Chesapeake to house hunt and as bestie & I roamed all downeast we found hunger pains setting in. A quick search and we found, and almost passed, Big Belly. Bestie was like, where is it? I said that little building with all the cars! Luckily, we wandered in right before Saturday rush and found a 4 top table (be forwarned, it's small in there so get in early!) and settled in to scour the menu as Juan brought us drinks. I don't normally order steak sandwiches dining out but theirs looked and sounded delectable, so that is what I ordered. And I was NOT disappointed. The steak was thinly sliced, marinated in something so unlike any other steak sandwich I'd ever have. The white sauce was the perfect topper and the French bread was the perfect vessel. Because my steak sandwich with white sauce was so awesome, I ordered a Bucatini with bolognese and meatballs to go. I was staying a few days in a hotel and let me tell you, I thought the steak was great, the Bucatini was even better!! Let me tell you, the food was so great here I told hubby we would have to buy in Washington just to be able to dine here whenever we wanted! That visit was almost a month ago and I have been dreaming of my next visit! Our home closes here on Sept 2nd and fairly soon after that, I'll find myself back here for more of everything! Stopped into Big Belly after seeing photos of their specials on facebook and a recommendation from a friend. I used to visit their sandwich truck which was great, who knew that there was so much more that this chef could do than sandwiches! The staff and service were great, fast and efficient. The restaurant itself is fairly sparse but quaint, which puts the focus squarely on the food. I had the special which was a pasta dish with crawfish and my wife had the pan seared scallops and both were delicious. The prices are extremely reasonable as well. The menu has something for everyone and we cannot wait to go back to try more! read more

My son and I went here today for lunch to try some more of their amazing menu. As soon as we walked in we saw Tristan our favorite server!! Tristan sat us gave us menus and the specials and took our drink order. We both started with the French coast steamers and they never disappoint! I ordered the Philly dip sandwich and my an got the special chicken saltimbocca. Both were AMAZING!! Jen the owner brought my sons dish(the chicken saltimbocca) and we chatted briefly and she asked my son if she could take his picture with the dish and post on Facebook and of course it was a resounding yes from him! The Philly dip was so tender and flavorful and the bone marrow dip was delicious! My sons chicken was literally mouth watering so tender it melted in your mouth! As we were chatting about dessert Tristan came over and had brought us the dessert special of the poached pears!!! It was one of the best desserts we've ever had! If you haven't been here yet do yourself a favor and go! You will not be disappointed!! We went for my husband's birthday the first week of February. Call for an evening reservation because they are a small place. They were kind enough to fit us in and I had scallops and my husband had pasta dish. Both were very good. My only negative would be once our food was brought it took them quite awhile to refill our drinks. They seem to still have some kinks with the servers. Eventually they asked about dessert. Amazing restaurant in Washington, NC! From what I understand it was a food truck turned brick and mortar. I dined with two others for lunch and we all tried each others food. Dang it was good. Highly recommend all of the sandwiches! The savory one with the powdered sugar on top was top tier (can't remember the name right now, sorry Yelp). A few weeks ago my bestie and I swung by the Big Belly Deli when we were out and about house hunting for her and although the outside of the building looked kinda rough and the inside was tiny, the quality and taste of the food plus the hard working waiters more than made up for it!! Our waiter Juan probably gets in a million steps a day running between all the tables and the kitchen, while also keeping an upbeat friendly attitude. I ordered the Bacon and Blue crab dip and it was delicious, filled with lots of crab meat and bacon. The pasta dish I orders with the Red Lead sauce was PHENOMENAL, literally the best thing I've ever eaten. EVER. I would have a bowl of that red sauce as my last meal with some crusty crostini. Their homemade pasta is next level delicious and ever bite was layers upon layers of flavor. My only issue was the way the owner spoke to her employees in the kitchen in a very condescending way loud enough for us to hear in the dining room. It was so bad it hurt my heart. In today's world it's hard to find good help and talking to them like children is not the right way to manage, plus maybe help them out when it's busy instead of wandering around. Just my 2 cents. Holy smokes that was good! We made a day trip to Washington and turned lunch over to Yelp. I'm not joking when I say we had the best sandwiches ever. My husband had the Cuban and it knocked his socks off. He grew up in South Florida and can be a bit picky but declared it the best Cuban he has ever had. Unfortunately, we didn't get a photo of his. I ordered the Muffaletta and devoured half of it. The portions are large, and the bread is excellent. I will make the 40-minute drive from where I live just for those sandwiches!
