I purchased a Stromer ST2 about 10 years ago from Bike Attack. Now at that time Stromer was one of the first luxury e-bike brands. It had a number of quirks. Like sensors that weren't doing their job, which caused the bike to not work as it should. I know that new tech is never perfect. On every occasion that I needed help Bike Attack was there for me. I used that bike for 5 years and put 40000 miles on it. Bike Attack helped me above beyond the norm to reach that mileage with their technical excellence. I decided to change e-bike after achieving that mileage with the Stromer, this was 5 years ago. At that time Bike Attack didn't have anything that met my requirements for a new e-bike. I purchased an Bosch mid drive 28mph commuter e-bike. Yet when I needed technical help I went back to Bike Attack. They are the only guys I know that are friendly and have the technical knowledge to keep my e-bike. During these past 5 years Bike Attack have kept my e-bike running. I replaced, tires, chains, wheels, chain-ring, rear cassettes, brakes, lights. Everything that needed to be replaced was because of wear and tear. I now have more than 56000 miles on my second e-bike. Bike Attack is the only one I trust to keep me safe on the road. read more

Somewhat disappointed.. I ordered the Carbon 1 ST and they said they would honor the website offer which included a free suspension seat, which they did not provide. They did provide the fenders though. Despite following his directions to email Bike Attack company regarding the suspension seat I've received no reply. I paid for the assembly, so today when I decide to take the bike out at night, I only had reflection light on the rear. Per specs on website and paper manual I should have had the Integrated StVZO light in the rear. I will be calling Bike Attack tomorrow to see if they can remedy. I will update. STAY AWAY: SAFETY HAZARD & TOTAL DISRESPECT FOR CUSTOMERS We have been loyal customers of Bike Attack, Playa Vista having purchased three bikes from them over the years. Our salesperson, Al, sold us on the "quality and value" of a $1,799 MSRP Magnum e-bike (purchased on sale for $1,100 in April 2024). We thought we were investing in a reliable bike. We were wrong. My bike has failed 3 times in just 2 months. After the first repair failed, management (Kit) promised to waive the costs if we brought it back. He broke that promise and charged us again anyway. You cannot trust a word this management says. After these "repairs," the shop returned the bike in a lethal state: it experienced unintended acceleration over 20mph without any user input. This "ghost riding" is a massive safety defect, yet the shop's "fix" lasted less than 2 miles before the bike died again. When we asked for a refund for the failed service, Kit treated us poorly and actually justified the breakdown by saying it's a "cheap" bike and we should expect it to break within 18 months. How do you sell someone a bike based on "$1,799 quality" and then tell them it's "disposable" once it becomes a death trap? One of our identical bikes works; this one is a lemon. Do not give your business to a shop that treats repeat customers like this and hides behind "cheap price" excuses for life-threatening defects. Edit** The manager's long-winded response perfectly proves my point. According to their logic, an $1,800 bike purchased from their shop is only expected to last about a year before it becomes a 'disposable' death trap. Instead of taking responsibility for returning a bike with a lethal safety defect (unintended 20mph acceleration), management chooses to hide behind technicalities and point the finger at the customer. We stopped by the store today for the first time, looking for a specific bike. We chatted with Albert, who was beyond helpful and kind. The bike we were looking for had just sold out, but he suggested another model that he thought would be just perfect for me, but they only had it in stock in the Santa Monica store. So he called ahead and had them reserve it for me - and off we went. I just got back from my first ride with the new bike, and am happy to report that Albert was spot on -- the bike was perfect! Really disappointed in how things transpired. Came in Sunday afternoon to look at two bikes and make a decision. Spoke with Albert and Spencer ( he seemed uninterested in helping me) Albert was nice but completely misinformed and clearly no training. Finally made decision on the bike. Velotric fold plus 1. I was told you they could honor the Black Friday pricing but not the free accessories that came with the bike. Albert says you do know you can do this yourself online right. I'm like okay? So I'll order the bike here and you guys will assemble. Yes great okay. I go home and order the bike myself on the website. Tuesday comes and some of the accessories were delivered so I called Albert I said hey it says my bike is on its way today some of the accessories should have been delivered. He says they're not here. Which is worrisome since my bike will be delivered as well. Next the manager calls me Ed saying he apologizes but they should have been more helpful that I should've gotten the bike through them. He will price match and discount the restock fee Velotric will charge me. The accessories are somewhere on the property but they won't even look because they want me to return the bike with Velotric and buy through them that's the only way that they will help me find the other items. Insists on me canceling my bike order while it's being delivered. So infuriating because I literally went in person to purchase the bike and they told me just to order the bike with Velotric and send it there. I get its business but it's their fault and they should do everything they can to make it right. Thankfully I was able to hold the actual bike at a fed ex center. This should not have happened And the only reason they called me was to make sure I can return the bike and buy through them. Please go somewhere else read more

It's the worst place you can purchase a bike from. Got my Orbea Gain here. Part of the purchase, the OEM Orbea OC Display was missing, or they didn't know the bike comes with the display. Called them 2 years later for a copy of receipt, and was responded back with email saying "hey, why do you need a receipt?" after I deliberately followed their store manager's instructions confirmed over the phone pertaining to the information they would require to verify this purchase. In an hour after posting this review, I got an email blaming it's totally my fault and asking to remove the review for the store. How pathetic! In the following hours, the store persistently contacted me over dozens of emails to argue what they did was right and that I am in the wrong. Despite providing hard proof of credit card payment under same person, name, total dollar amount, I am still being questioned for not being the original owner. After 14 emails, I was fed up and warned the store for "no further contact". The co-owner Kitty Monsalud still falsely claimed that I am the one being upset and unreasonable. If you do some research, this store and its owners: Ericson Monsalud and/or Kitty Monsalud have been involved in multiple lawsuits over the years with breach of contract, employment, credit card thefts, etc. Image this is the type of post sales experience you will have after your purchase. Think twice. When you gladly accepted my payment for this transaction and verified my driver's license right there and then in 2021, why didn't you use my name as the owner then if your system only allows one person's name? So, initially, I was skeptical about using this shop. In the heart of Playa Vista, I might have assumed it would be overpriced. And I will say that there are definitely cheaper options around. However, these are the things that have won my heart with Bike Attack. First, they do a good job and stand by their work. They did a complicated electric conversion on my Yuba Mundo Lux for me, getting me to order the parts so that they only charged for labor. Then, they service the bike and stand behind their work, committing to fixing any issues that come up with the install or service. I just got it serviced and it honestly feels like new again (it's 4 years old). But then the thing that sent me over the top (five stars) is that I asked them for a recommendation for a bike for my physically disabled son (who comes in with me when I get my bike serviced). Rather than trying to sell me something they had, they just referred me to a place that they know build bikes custom for kids like mine. No attempt at upselling, no attempt to do anything but help me. I have a lot of respect for this store, its employees, their work, and their commitment to just doing the right thing. I was really excited to shop at Bike Attack because I don't know much about bicycles and I felt intimidated by the amount of research and analysis paralysis I'd face shopping online. At first, my experience was fantastic. I explained I wanted a simple street bike to ride around with my two year old son. To my surprise, the gentleman that helped me didn't try to upsell me on some $3K e-bike with fancy doodads attached. His advice was to go with something affordable and reliable: a Marin Fairfax 1 with a Thule child seat. He advised on getting a rear facing child seat since it's safer for the child. Great. I ordered online and the bike was on its way. ~$700 out the door. Less than I was expecting to spend. When I came to pick up the bike and child's seat, I realized that I would need a rack to mount the seat to. This is where my experience quickly went south . They sold me a rack that worked with a child's seat but, when I got home, I realized it was branded for 29" wheels when my bike's wheels were 700c (~27.5"). After some research online, I realized the manufacturer of the rack (Topeak) made both a 700c version of that rack and a 29" wheel version. The 29" version was almost identical except that it was 2.5" taller. Not wanting the extra height, I called the shop and spoke to Jose. I asked if they could order the 700c version. Jose tried to convince me to keep the 29" version saying that they're compatible with 700c and 29" wheels and that they use these racks for child seats with 700c bikes "all the time." I had to explain to him that while I am sure that is true, the extra 2.5" of height with a 35lb child on the back is going to make a noticeable difference in the center of gravity of the bike and I'd prefer to stick with the 700c version for better handling through turns. He seemed annoyed but agreed that I could come in and do an exchange (they don't do returns). At this point, I'm already a little annoyed because, as a bike shop, they should know how much a simple change to geometry can have a significant impact on the handling of the bike. It felt like he was more interested in just selling whatever inventory they had than helping me get the right thing to keep me and my kid safe and comfortable. So I head back to the store, give them the the old rack and they order the 700c rack. It takes a week to come into the shop. I rush over once I get a call that it's in because I'm excited to try biking with my son. I pick up the new rack, head home and start to put it on the bike. With a few minutes my wife notices that the rack says "not for use with a child seat". I looked at the tag and sure enough, this is not the Baby Seat II rack, its the Explorer rack, which is meant for bags. So now I have to drive back to the store a THIRD time and wait yet another week to get out on the bike. Frustrated, I just order the right rack on Amazon. When I got to the store to tell them about the mishap, Jose immediately became defensive and borderline hostile, telling me that "we put child seats on these racks all the time." He refuses to return the item with out a 10% restocking fee, despite ordering me the wrong rack twice. I have to explain to him that I don't care if the rack will work with a child seat or not. Why on earth would I ignore the manufacturer's warning if there is even a remote risk it will put my 2 year old in danger. Instead of recognizing my priorities as a parent, I was treated rudely and gaslighted. I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. At the very least, ask to work with someone other than Jose. read more

Made an appointment yesterday to test ride a particular bike today. Appointment confirmed via email, it's a very specific bike with no other locations to test ride in SoCal. Not a convenient location to get to. Showed up at appointment time, employee says "uh, we don't have this bike unfortunately". Why didn't you contact me to cancel the appointment when the bike sold? "Oh, I dunno, it's done through the manufacturer". I recheck the confirmation email that appears to come from the store. "Yeah that's not from us". Oh ok. So you work with and allow the manufacturer to send fake emails about fake inventory on your behalf to waste people's time. Cool. UPDATE - Kitty reached out to offer apologies about the issue and a potential discount for my trouble. While it didnt give me my time back, or help me test a bike they still don't have, I certainly appreciate when a business takes the time to read a review and reach out to try and resolve a poor experience. Final update/Conclusion (10/23): I picked up my bike from the re-do service today, and all of my concerns were addressed, and then some. The bike looks and rides great, they replaced some parts that I didn't even mention as a courtesy, and they refunded more than half of the original service price. They communicated clearly throughout the whole re-do service. I have to say - Bike Attack really did fix the situation, and my mind feels at ease. I would like to thank Kitty and her staff for how they handled this situation. =============== Original review: =============== I recently brought my bike to Bike Attack Playa Vista and paid $250 for a "Deluxe Tune-Up/Clean." Unfortunately, the service did not match what I expected for the price, or what is advertised on their website. Their website does not list a $250 tune-up for non-ebikes, which is what I agreed to pay, but it does list a $185 service, and the top bullet point states 'deep clean.' My bike was returned with visible dirt still on the frame and pedals. In terms of cleanliness, it looked the same as when I dropped it off. When I expressed my concern about the bike's appearance, I was informed by the staff that 'cleaning' actually only means dissasembly & relubing of parts, which wasn't clearly explained to me or advertised. While I should have been more diligent in getting a full breakdown of the service, this is not what I was expecting for a $250 service called "Deluxe Tune-Up/Clean," especially when compared to what's advertised on their website. The bike was returned in good mechanical condition, but the lack of transparency and care in cleaning was disappointing. Some additional notes: * I asked for replacement skewers, and the shop said they would call me to confirm the price. However, they seemingly forgot to confirm with me, and installed the parts anyway, so I did not get to confirm the price or model that was chosen. * I asked for some rusty bolts to be replaced, and the technicician said ok, but the bolts were not replaced. * My bike's wheel sensor is not working. I forgot to ask about this, but I would hope an authorized Cannondale dealer would check simple things like this as part of a $250 tune-up, but they did not. * When I called for the very first time, to ask about a pickup option I had seen on their website, they seemed confused and ultimately told me they don't offer it anymore. It turns out, this information on their website was also out of date. In the end, I feel like I overpaid for a service that didn't meet the quality or transparency I expected, especially for the price. I'm exhausted and will simply be trying another shop next time. If you do go, be sure to double-check service descriptions and pricing against what you're quoted. Update (same day as review): The shop promptly offered a $150 refund and to re-do the service. I wanted to buy the new 2024 Marin Presidio 3 and Marin was out of stock so I went into Bike Attacks website and ordered it that way and requested to pick it up at this location. The assembly and tune up was complimentary. The service and follow up I received was outstanding. Albert was very helpful with information on when it will best to pick up so they can make sure the bike is fitted to my preference. Lorenzo the bike technician was fantastic. He is very skilled at bike assembly,making adjustments and customer satisfaction. I had some accessories to add to the bike; saddle, grips and a kick stand. Terrible service and incompetent (or lazy?) mechanics. Dropped off my Hardtail 29er for: - a tune-up - tubeless conversion - have my Juicy Five Hydraulic breaks bled On the 10th day of the 7-10 days waiting period, I get a voicemail saying, "hey there's a part on your bike that needs to be replaced please call us to approve this so we can do the work." I call and get voicemail... A day later they call and leave voicemail. I call back same day and finally get a mechanic. He tells me the brake is "no good" and needs to be replaced. I said, "interesting, it worked when I dropped it off." Then he back pedals, "oh, well yes it is still functional if you're ok with it, but it's not as good as it could be." I say, "oh, ok. So what's the issue?" He says, "well it's mechanical and hard to say over the phone, I'll have to show you." I say, "ok...I'll come check it out." So I get there and the bring the bike out. I ask about the tubeless conversion. They tell me that can't do it since the wheels aren't tubeless ready. I bend down and point to the tubeless sticker and say I've run them tubeless for the past five years. Then they tell me, "oh it's the tires, they also have to say tubeless ready on the package." Feels like BS, but it could be their policy from a liability standpoint, so I don't press the issue. But why not tell me that when I drop the bike off? I spoke with two mechanics about it and they said they could do it. Whatever. So then I ask about the breaks. They tell me they can't service these breaks because they're the old style that uses Mineral Oil and they don't touch those, they only touch the new DOT Oil kind. Okkkkk. So I say fine, whatever, and pay and leave. So I'm pretty pissed at the terrible communication and service and I'm pretty sure I spent $89 on nothing since they didn't touch the brakes, break pads, or tires. Then I'm sitting there in the backyard researching this style of breaks to figure out who can service this kind with Mineral Oil. They are Juicy Five circa 2008. Guess what? They only take DOT Oil, 5.1 or 4. It says as much on the lid of the brake housing!!! So I'm writing this review to let you know these jokers won't take care of you unless know exactly what a good job is technically and hold them accountable to it. Shameless. 1/9/21 Update At this point I should thank this shop for giving me the push I need to wrench on my bikes myself. I did the brake bled and tubeless install myself with DIY YouTube guides and an Epic bleed kit. The brakes are strong and solid now. So much for the bad brakes ;) read more

Yelp review I have been looking around all weekend to get an SE bike I've had no luck as they are sold out everywhere looked online for the local distributors and I found bike attack. Nice lady on the phone told me my options and was very descriptive for about the fast ripper. The guy in the front Tod was also super nice super helpful and even advised me in all the right places. If you have any bike needs and Want to go to somebody who you can trust, check them out. They're in the little street so you have to pay attention when going there with GPS. Even gave me a tune up! Today I brought my bike in to have them check out the noise from the new brake pads I bought there 3 days ago. The "manager" takes one look at the pads and tells me that in order for the brake noise to go away I need to get the upgraded "sport organic" not "metallic" brakes. This man had no interest in taking a deeper look at the issue but just wanted to sell me a more expensive product. I wish I could give 0 stars because this service was that poor. My derailleur was bent and I couldn't change gears anymore because I crushed the bike an hour earlier (sharp turn at high speed on a wet road after a rain - lesson learned as something not to do ever again!) Todd went above and beyond to fix the urgent issue, so I have my bike ready for my race the next day. Their power in their store was out (the whole block was out of power) and he could have said there was nothing they can do without power. Not to even mention fixing something on the spot. But he took out a bike stand from their service area, placed it somewhere in the front of the store where he had some natural light, and fixed it within 15 minutes! Saved the day!
