I want to add, that also I had a good friend who rented from this bike shop, they advertised a certain price, when he got there, the owner up the price, because he said that he only has the better bikes in stock, and they are more expensive, at that point, my friend rented 2 bikes, because they were meeting their friends, and they didn't want to be late, The bike was a piece of junk, the pedal fell off, and the bike rear brake jammed into the wheel. The whole day was ruined, and the owner wanted compensation, for the broken bike. read more

Couldn't be happier with my experience. Was selling a bike to a buddy and just wanted to revamp it and it needed a new back tire. Local bike shops were wanting an insane amount of money and several days for what seem to be a fairly straightforward simple repair. Called with a flat; was told they didn't have the inner tube with European valve in stock but would get it for the next day. Took the bike in; when I came to collect it, they had drilled the rim, made a bigger hole and replaced with a different valve. No one called to let me know or ask me about this. It's a vintage bike. I'm joining the chorus of voices thanking Lance and his team for their kindness and honesty! I have an old Specialized bike that I left on a patio for too long, and it had rust on it. It seemed in good shape (and I didn't have the budget for a new bike), so I wanted to see if I could get it fixed up to ride again. I took it to one shop, and had the usual experience of a woman at a Westside bike shop - a man was condescending to me, laughed at me for considering fixing my bike, told me it was rusted beyond repair, and promptly tried to sell me an $800 bike. I decided to try Lance at The Bicycle Whisperer, and what do you know - he and his teammate Danny were just NICE. They didn't laugh at me, didn't upsell me, and instead just walked me through what I'd need (new brakes, a new tire tube, and a tune-up). For about $150, my bike looks and rides like it's brand new! Everybody needs a Bicycle Whisperer in their life. I bought a cool, but used "Frankenstein" bike probably from the 70's that fell apart after a week. When I pulled up, I heard "Jam On It" blasting on the radio and I knew I was in the right spot. Lance, Venice owner aka "Bicycle Whisperer", repaired everything in no time. Went in on 7/19/2020 to get an older (early 2000s) Trek mountain bicycle tuned up, cleaned, & back in safe working condition. Lance stated that the bike would be done within a weeks time. Fast forward to 4 weeks later, 8/19/2020 and the bike is still not fixed! I had called them almost every week to follow-up (already a red flag that I had to call to follow-up) and on 8/12/2020 he stated that the bike would be finished on 8/14/2021 as he was currently working on it and it was ready to be picked up. Come 8/18/2020, owner texts me saying he needs to order parts for the bike. Wait, I thought it was ready to be picked up on Friday? Clearly, lies or confused as to what he's working on? After being sick and tired of waiting, I ended up picking up my bike on 8/21 WITHOUT it being fixed. I reluctantly paid the gentleman what he charged ($180) and will never go back. Would highly recommend you take your bike elsewhere with mechanics who can manage simple tasks in a timely and efficient manner. read more

I paid $75 to put my new bike together, I had a flat tire within a week, and I didn't even ride it. I took it to Helen's bike shop to get the tire fixed. And they discovered a puncture hole on the inner tube, with a piece of tape on it. I had to get a new inner tube. Suspiciously strange...Did they accidentally puncture my tire while putting it together, and put an inadequate quick fix it tape on it? Or was there something more nefarious going on? Regardless, Sad to say, I cant trust this place. read more

arrived with a broken derailleur. bike spent 12 days sitting around waiting for the part that hadn't arrived yet because it's a "special part," so when i was able to order AND receive part myself in 24 hours, i picked up my bike - now without a chain. when i called for updates i received comments like "yeah, the bike isn't ready. we'll call you when it is. yeah, the the part still hasn't arrived; we're not just keeping your bike for fun." as someone that works in the area, the lack of kind customer service is not appreciated. i will not be recommending this business to anyone. read more

My Specialized Stump Jumper that I have had since 1985 wasn't riding well. It felt like something was rubbing.
