Went to Old St. Charles and bike stop cafe before a 20 mile ride on the Katy Trail. We each got a breakfast wrap and both were good! We also got a cup of chicken and wild rice soup that was incredible but we were a little deterred that a small cup of soup cost $7. After we finished up breakfast we rented bikes from the cafe. When we first went to rent no one was working the desk but the person working the food counter was able to help us out. We rented two hybrid bikes, and only had a minor issue with the bike seat along the ride that the mechanic said he would fix for future riders! Overall a great experience and one stop shop. The bikes were affordable and the staff were helpful! read more

Wonderful place in a positively great location. If you need a coffee or tea to sip on, or a light lunch or snack, you can enjoy these delights while sitting on the patio at BSC. Plenty of space, even on crowded weekends when all the Katy Trail cyclists are filling the many tables. A great bonus is that you can actually score some bike gear and accessories while you're here. Need an inner tube? Check! Need a quick tool for trail side repairs? Check! How about a bike rental because your bike sucks? Check! I love this place and the supremely welcoming staff. The menu also has a number of vegan and vegetarian options, so everyone can be happy. read more

Excellent wraps!! Cozy atmosphere, Tony, Jodi and the staff were very helpful. We are new to biking the Katy trail, they told us where to park our car then they shuttled us with our bikes to Clinton! We are on the second day of our ride in Sedalia and having a blast! Highly recommend getting in touch with the Bike Stop if you're interested in doing the Katy. read more

This is what I look for when I visit a historical area. Location was very accessible with good parking for even long bed dually pick up. Loved the ambiance of the old building. It was very quaint. In addition to inside seating, the patio seating was very inviting if it hadn't looked like it could rain. I had the Century breakfast wrap and my husband had the Green Goddess breakfast wrap. Both were excellent and plenty of food we could have shared one. Would consider the menu as healthy but attractive to someone who is usually more of a meat and potato girl. Servers were friendly and service was timely. Would definitely be a frequent visitor if I lived in area. read more

If you're considering a lengthy one-way Katy trail bike ride, I highly recommend Bike Stop's shuttle service, especially if you are part of a small group. It's a four-hour van ride from St. Charles to Clinton (or vice-versa), but the trip is strictly first-class, with well-appointed bike and gear hauling, at a price point that is well worth the service. Coordinating our departure time required a little back-and-forth, an understandable necessity given that other riders might be involved. In fact, we were joined by riders who were departing at both Jefferson City and Kansas City, which ended up being really nice, since the drive gave us the opportunity to share trail advice. And if you need a quick tune-up or a sandwich before the big ride, that can be arranged too. read more

Situated along the landing on the muddy MO, sandwiched between the Katy Trail and Main St. lies the wonderful, appropriately named Bike Stop Cafe. This area marks the unofficial start or finish of the Katy Trail (technically there are 13 miles to the east to a town called Machens for some reason), so rolling in here after starting at the western terminus some 250 miles ago was certainly refreshing. Not quite as refreshing as the four cups of coffee and back to back entrees that I put down though. I got a veggie sausage, parmesan, egg & cheese bagel and it was good. So good that I had to get back in line and order something similar, plus a muffin. We also used their services to be shuttled to the Kirkwood Amtrak from the finishing point and it was helpful ($80 for the trek). Really enjoyed this little spot, and it made a lasting impression of St. Charles for my first time through. read more

This trip was my second visit. They have good local beers to chose from as well as wine and coffee. They also have food but if have yet to try it. The staff is friendly and they have lots of seating inside as well as outside seating with a view of the river. During the colder months they have a couple of fires going at the outdoor seating to help keep warm. read more

A perfect place to stop on a Sunday morning after a ride on the Katy Trail. We are using it as our 1/2 way stop. My wife had the tomato grilled cheese and I had the Century wrap. Both were served fast and hot. They also are quite yummy. We will certainly be stopping here again! read more

I love this shop! Along Main St there are very few quick service places where you can get in and out quickly, while also having a decent meal that doesn't break the bank. Bike Stop Cafe does just that! We had their tomato soup and grilled cheese. Neither was particularly mind blowing, but the simplicity is just what we needed on a day of exploring and being in a rush. I did enjoy my coffee a lot. To end our time there, we bought a loaf of bread to take to the oil place across the street for their samples (yes, we had drank a lot of wine at this point :) ) and were overall happy with the day! read more

We'd just completed our final miles on Katy Trail and had picked the Bike StopCafe as our terminus. I'll just say the the food, cold beer and staff were juuuust what needed after 200 miles on the bikes. Outside sitting in the sun made it even better. read more

What happened to my favorite place by the river? I've been at least 3 times in the past few months. The coffee is always cold or out in the carafes and there is no dairy free option on the bar so you have to wait and most people don't. The sandwich I should have photographed bc they're mostly vegan so you'd think they would load it up with lettuce or tomatoes and after the long waits they're just almost empty. The place is always clean, they have a beautiful seating area and the people are really wonderful. I just need fresh hot coffee and if I need a good sandwich I'll stick to the breakfast burrito here because that was fire last time. I'll keep trying but the money is not worth it at the moment. read more

I found this gem while walking around ST. Charles. They have bikes you can rent and ride which is nice but they also have great drinks and food. The girl who was working was super nice and helpful!! She explained the flavors and gave great recommendations! I also love how anything you get can be iced! The drink I got was perfect for the warm day! It is a good find! read more

Food was okay. My daughter ordered the soup. It was supposed to come with sour dough bread. It didn't. We asked. They said they were out. Didn't even offer a substitution. Just said they were out. What the heck??? Who does that these days. The kid working the counter was kind of rude. I'll eat somewhere else next time. Plenty of other good restaurants on Main. read more

If it's a beautiful day be prepared for Spandex. Bike Stop Cafe sits alongside a popular bike trail in a popular historic district so it gets cyclists, tourists, and locals. It appeals to all with healthy twists on familiar sandwiches, salads and wraps. 1/3 bike rental and accessory shop, and 2/3 small cafe BSC supplements the space with a roomy and shaded patio. A number of breakfast items offer fuel before your ride or resuming sightseeing. The Klondike turkey sandwich was big enough to halve for two not-too-hungry visitors and came with "veggie" straws. Service seemed slow for the small Friday post-dinner crowd. However, the soft recorded blues made a nice backdrop for a lazy evening. read more

Expected a lot from all the reviews and seeing the amount of people coming in and out. Instantly we were treated extremely poorly.. the lady taking our order was being clearly rude and seemed stressed .. I get it it was morning Sunday rush. But the shop hadn't been open more than 3 hours and she was treating us like it was 30min before close... Seconds... after paying nearly $40 for 2 people expecting to get a nice breakfast/lunch. Got the Klondike sandwich and fruit cup with bagel. And for those 2 things we waited easily over 20 minutes. Which I get it sometimes your really busy... BUT WOW usually when you spend $40 you expect to see or taste some quality/ restaurant feeling type beat. But what we got was completely the opposite. Our super wimpy 12.50$ sandwich which literally looked like a at home sand which my 10 year old can make by him self. Absolutely no taste no hint of any sort of money we'll spent. It was just extremely aggravating being treated poorly and as-well getting one kinda pricy bill only for the meal to be well.. lackluster to say the least For a nice community shop on Main Street the approach that I got from it made me want to stay far away from this cafe even tho cafes and restaurants on Main Street tend to have more quality control an high customer service expectancy read more

Such a unique cafe located near the riverside of Mainstreet! One side of the cafe is a bike outpost (bike sales, rentals, repairs, etc.) while the other side is the dining/cafe area. The dining area only has a few small tables, but there is also outdoor seating with a fire pit! Also, the cafe offers many organic and vegetarian/vegan options. The staff was very kind and efficient. I only ordered a 10 oz coffee during my visit, but I would love to try the Greensfelder Sandwich next! P.S. if you go to their website, the Bike Stop Cafe offers a lot of cool events on week days/weekends (including a s'mores night on the patio)! read more

The coffee was good but the folks working were absolutely clueless on giving bicycle directions to the local Wal*'Mart or anywhere else. One of the ladies didn't even know their small town HAD a Wal*Mart. The guy working in the back (Tony I think?) was rude when I tried to ask him a question. He brushed us off and disappeared into the back never to be seen again. read more

So terribly slow, not even sure why when there are enough employees inside. Literally took 45 minutes with about 15 minutes between the first plate of food delivered to the last in our party of 5. It shouldn't have been that difficult to make a few sandwiches when there weren't too many others eating at the same time either. Nice ambiance and friendly enough staff, but wouldn't care to eat here again. read more

We ordered two hummus sandwiches which took at least 20 minutes and they were bland, on aging bread and were extremely light on toppings. Owner /manager charged me $1 extra to put oatmilk in my drip coffee and you'd think I ordered gold as she barely put any in, and when I asked for some more she was rude. Early morning soccer game calls for post game breakfast! Nice little shop with patio and indoor seating. Perfect for the first warm weekend in a while. The Big Wheel Bagel Sandwich was incredible, might be one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. Layers of flavor, crispy parm bagel, all around nice job. We also had the Triathlete, which is an egg and cheese wrap, also a lot of flavo as well as the waffles which had the perfect amount of crunch and sweet. Rounded it out with a Cafe Americano and Chai Tea, which were excellent. Just a little bit on the pricey side for what it is, otherwise I would have given it five stars. Trendy bike shop/vegan cafe? This place is so cool! They are also gluten free friendly. All wraps can be made "naked" without the wrap. I ordered a naked Greek Goddess and the vegan queso and holy moly it was good. Seriously, this wrap turned salad is phenomenal. Peanut butter balls are also gf. They seem really friendly with modifications for food restrictions. I had been really struggling to find food I can eat out while here on business so this was a gem to find. Wishing it was summer so I could rent a bike too! read more

Simply delighted to find this quaint little cafe across from the Missouri River and a very short drive from my Hotel. Only wish I had more time to rent a bike and see if the adjacent riverfront trail route actually is 300 miles long! Instead, I settled for a wonderful latte, bowl of tomato soup, and "Humma Hummas" sandwich, which a lovely, lavender-haired pixie served outside next to a cozy fire where fellow diners cheerfully chatted away with a stranger from Houston. read more

Deceptive menu prices and very slow service. The menu price posted behind the counter always seems to list the wrong price, then rings up higher. This visit over $1 more on several items. Last week....same thing. We've brought this up to them and nothing seems to change. Too many honest places to patronize than here. I'd give them a much higher score for the trail setting...but that's the main perk here. 45 minutes for an oatmeal is not acceptable, nor over charging guests on a routine basis. read more

At the Bike Stop Cafe, you can rent a bike and check out the Katy Trail or zip around town to see the beautiful, historic buildings, or do some shopping and grab a bite to eat on Main Street. We stopped at the Bike Stop Cafe for breakfast and ended up walking around the quaint, historic village where it's located for several hours. There are lots of regulars at this quirky, bike-themed cafe with plenty of humorous signs and a few coffee sack chair cushions. It's sandwiched between the Katy Trail and Main Street so it gets plenty of traffic from bikers, tourists, and shoppers. I wanted a smoothie but they were out of all flavors except one so I skipped it. I ordered the stuffed avocado plate with hummus and pita chips. It was tasty. It includes half an avocado stuffed with a tomato and roasted red pepper filling. The pita chips are crisp and crunchy and the hummus portion is generous. Remember to get your two free peanut butter balls just for checking in on Yelp. Very tasty. Great little spot worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

Cycling advocates Tony and Jodi opened the 2nd Street Bike Stop Cafe in 2010 to provide St. Charles and the metro St. Louis area with a sustainable bicycle shop alternative. Their mission was to provide customer,s of all walks of life, reasonably priced bicycles, service and healthy foods. Promoting alternative transportation and healthy lifestyles, they set the example in St. Charles by recycling & composting over 95% of their waste. In the spring, they will be growing many of their vegetables. Giving back is an important part of their mission. Each year the Bike Stop Cafe refurbishes and donates bikes to Jodi's students, who participate in the many outdoor adventures they host each month. Overall, not terrible, but not something I'd go out of my way to come back for.

I had this place in the bookmarks and figured now was the best time to visit. Parking can be an issues in Downtown St. Charles since it is limited to street parking or public parking a few blocks away. We found parking right in front of FPC, mainly because it was a cold, Monday morning. We were greeted immediately, and inside was much smaller than I expected. We got seated right away though, and a good chance to really review the menu. I got a house coffee (delicious), and my husband got a Purple Haze Lemonade. We ended up getting a kid's pancake with bacon and scrambled eggs, Short Rib Breakfast Stack, and a Bomb Burrito. The pancake for my 2 year old was MASSIVE so it was a good day for him lol. The short rib stack was yummy - hash browns with runny eggs and meat on top. The burrito was also pretty good. Our breakfast entrees came with a side order of potatoes and while it was good, it got saltier over time so I might not get that next time. They advertise beignets, so we might go for that next time and try out their lunch menu!

She tapped on the handheld device for a second and handed it to me for payment. When I asked for a copy of the receipt, she seemed nervous. After I got it, i noticed that it had not been taken off. She left to go to other tables and I didn't feel like being there anymore. I would suggest skipping this place and trying the other restaurants in the area. Better food and better service!
