The food was great. Hits the spot! You can taste the freshness and feel the love in the dish. Service is very very warm. Its has a very welcoming vibe. From the barista, the cashier even the the customers, are all engaging. Its in French town, and it captures the vibe of the town. We came from the west coast attending a tournament, looking for a post office and just literally an accidental find... and an amazing find indeed.

We checked this place out on a Thursday around noon. Upon entry, it's a little confusing where to go. People who had already ordered we're looking at the pastry case. We couldn't get past them, so we walk around to order, but then it felt like while we were in the way of the staff. Service was very friendly and warm. We ordered southwest omelette with gluten free toast (bonus!), potatoes, pick 2 turkey Brie sandwich/red pepper Gouda soup. It was all delicious. Cons: no ambiance music, just a tv with a screensaver on We drove from STL city to try this place because it was on a best breakfast list. While it was decent and the menu is up my alley, it's doubtful we'll return because of distance and it didn't have a wow factor we felt we needed to come back to. I'd recommend it if you're in the area though!

Going off food alone, they'd easily be five stars. Absolutely incredibly breakfast food that was worth the wait! We sat outside on the back patio (very cute little set up with ample shade!), because the inside was so packed. The inside is so gorgeous with lots of seating as well. There were board games to play, which is a nice touch! Pricing was decent for a little place like this. What bummed us out was the service. It took nearly 50 minutes to order, as you order at the front and then they bring you your food at your table. We were visiting with family so we didn't mind, but we were there for a total of nearly 2.5 hours with five people. Our poor waitress was very overwhelmed. We will be back, though. I believe it was just a bad day because the food was that good! Hope to give them another shot!

Pick 2 - strawberry-avocado salad with poppyseed dressing and turkey brie sandwich

This place is just WOW! I am kicking myself for not trying it a WHOLE lot sooner!! I met a friend for lunch this past week and we were both very, very satisfied with our experience. This place is the perfect combination of cute and cozy, and very comfortable for a gathering with friends or a solo work session. The staff was stellar and every single staff member was polite, helpful, and smiling! I enjoyed a classic macchiato, which arrived quickly and was made perfectly. My friend got a regular cup of coffee (self-serve with free refills) and seemed to enjoy hers as well. Now for the food: We each enjoyed a "pick 2" and both left satisfied and looking forward to coming back to try more! The portion sizes were perfect for lunch and everything was delicious. I highly recommend the strawberry avocado salad if you're keeping it light, but the turkey brie sandwich is a standout as well. My friend was a little unsure of the seedy bread in her French onion soup but said aside from that her meal was fabulous and that she would recommend the French dip to ANYONE and everyone. Overall one of the best lunch spots I have found in St. Charles, and I can't wait to go back. GO THERE!

Pick 2: Avocado Strawberry Salad and Turkey Brie on Gluten Free

Cute cafe with extensive menu. I would say for anyone not familiar, that it doesn't have that much French influence. I'd say it's a top notch Panera. Service is fantastic . They have a dog friendly patio. You order first, then sit down. The avocado strawberry salad was delicious!! The turkey Brie was great - my only qualm is that gluten free bread already comes extra tiny... so having it halved felt a bit unfair haha!

    They've added more seating!

La Belle Vie has been in Frenchtown since before Frenchtown was a thing. The owners patiently and lovingly restored an old, unused building into a charming and delicious place to grab a meal or sit and work (free WiFi!). I've been here many times and I love the atmosphere. Very charming and homey. It used to have more comfy seating, I remember curling up in a cozy chair with a latte, but I think maybe they are trying to appeal to a broader audience or maybe it's easier to keep the newer seating clean? The menu is pretty standard fare, with some hits and misses. The roasted tomato and feta quiche and a bowl of roasted red pepper and Gouda bisque is my go to. Both are seriously delicious and I can usually take home some for a meal the next day, it's a little pricey. The pastry case is worth checking out. It can be a bit basic but there's usually a surprise in there. Overall, I love this place and will return again and again!

What a fantastic little café. They have a little patio in back and plenty of seating inside. It was decorated so cute. Even the bathrooms were cute! All of the employees that we encountered were wonderful and polite. The food... Was absolutely delicious! They have a large selection to choose from for breakfast and lunch.

The cutest little brunch spot! This was my first time here and wow was I impressed! I got the pick two with the house salad and tuna sandwich. The sandwich was delicious and tasted like such high quality tuna. The salad was so fresh and tasty as well. I also got a vanilla latte which was delicious! Service was good, and food came out quickly! I can't wait to try more here.

California chicken and Chipotle ranch flatbread

First timer, we arrived around 1:30pm for lunch. I ordered a chai latte and we shared the California Chicken and Chipotle Ranch flatbread. This item has loads of great flavors. It has grilled chicken, bacon, mozzarella cheese, avocado, red pepper, olive oil, cilantro and they drizzle chipotle ranch dressing on top. Very tasty and very filling. I enjoyed eating this great tasting flatbread. I highly recommend it. My chai latte was delicious. It can be a dessert because it is sweet and refreshing. This is a cute restaurant with a lot of character. They have an outdoor patio or indoor dining. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Nice day out with the team for a social gathering. Had a wonderful brunch and espresso was FRESH. Loved it. Will be planning on being back when I'm in French Town.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. It had an excellent combination of coffee, food, service, and environment. Finding this place wasn't difficult as there are large signs outside. However, you either get lucky enough to get parking on the side lot or you'll have to rely on street parking. As you walk in, the place is very cozy with plenty of tables. There is also an excellent outdoor seating area with a backyard patio feel. The bathrooms are large and very clean. Service is very fast. You have to order at the front and they get very busy, so waiters won't be able to take your order once you're sitting. In case you need something like water, it's self-serve at the patio outside. Now the food - I ordered a cappuccino and it was good quality coffee. Honestly, hard to get wrong with fresh ground beans. I also ordered a Monte Cristo Crepe. I devoured it because of how delicious it was. It was a mix of savory and sweet and I was scraping up the drizzle as I finished my plate. Perhaps my favorite thing is how relaxed the place is. I sat there for hours out at the patio with my laptop and got a lot of work done thanks to their free wifi. If you need a quiet place to work, hang out with friends, or just want a nice place to eat this it absolutely the place to come to.

Mark is amazing (he's the owner) everyone that works there, seems to like their job to where it gives off a family vibe. The food: well where do I begin. Lemon blueberry crepe is my new favorite over the chocolate raspberry. They're delicious brown butter crepes. The lake bake has all the stuff in it. Must try the jalapeño popper sandwich. So many lattes to choose from, oh and a blueberry mule, so yummy! I can go on and on but you just have to see this perfect French town homey restaurant for yourself! It's a must go to place

I'd suggest that people were there to visit downtown St. Charles, or whatever it's called, which has a certain old-timey charm to it, but everything else was closed--presumably until later in the day, but who knows. That fentanyl is a menace. Parking could be a pain, if it's not the wee hours of the morning on a weekend, and you're not ambulatory enough to walk from a block or two over, and yet you're going to get essentially the equivalent of a milkshake and a donut. Inside is rustic, inviting and larger than you'd think, with an upstairs area that I didn't bother to explore, due to lack of curiosity. We had a larger group and ended up pushing a few smaller tables together, plus a few chairs we borrowed from other tables. No one seemed to mind. The key is not to ask first. That mentality will take you far in both the world of finance and dating. I'm kind of over ordering food from coffee shops, where they're obviously just throwing something in the microwave and charging you $10 for it, but I needed something to eat. I'd just gone for a run. Their burrito looked like the textbook definition of cultural appropriation, but it also looked like it might not be half bad. I had their equivalent of an Egg McMuffin, called Ron's Breakfast Sandwich, or something to that effect. When I hear the name Ron, I of course think of Sasso from Carlito's Way, but that probably says more about me than anything else. I'm assuming he didn't have anything to do with this. Essentially, this was a store-bought English muffin, a surprisingly generous and delicious helping of cheddar cheese, a few slices of seemingly prepackaged black forest ham and a fried egg. It was fine for what it was. Could the egg have been salted, could the muffin have been buttered and could the ham been an actual slice of Canadian bacon, or even better, American bacon? Sure, but I went into this with low expectations. The cheddar was melty and delicious, and weirdly abundant, but processed American cheese would have been more fitting for this kind of sandwich. You'd think a guy named Ron wouldn't object to processed foods. The caramel frappe I had was amazing. I got it with whole milk and whipped cream. I didn't bother to check and see if they charge you extra for whipped cream, which is the kind of crap some of these places have been known to pull. I got the 16 oz instead of the 20 oz, but it was probably still enough to take a day off the end of my life (when I don't need it as much anyway fwiw). Sometimes, when a food item tastes good enough, you can just tell it's not good for you, and that was the case with this drink. It was decidedly rich. I'm never in this part of town, and if I were, it would be at night, natch, but if things ever get to the point where they're clearly trending in that direction, I might start stopping by on the reg and getting that caramel frappe just to speed along the process of my demise.

So peaceful, beautiful, and the perfect start to our morning! What truly made the experience exceptional was our server, Jenn. She was incredible from start to finish!! She was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. She made great recommendations, checked on us at all the right times, and went above and beyond in ways you don't see often. My husband is picky about biscuits and gravy, and Jenn kindly brought him a sample of the gravy first to make sure he'd like it...such a small gesture to some people, but truly made it special for my husband. She even sent us off with coffee to go, which we really appreciated!! The food was just as impressive. I had the traditional breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly, the potatoes were nice and crispy, Jenn recommended the ham, which was so flavorful and perfectly charred, so good!!! My husband ended up loving his biscuits and gravy! Between the amazing service, delicious food, and relaxing riverfront setting, this was easily one of our favorite breakfast experiences. Jenn truly made it memorable, and we'll definitely be asking for her every time we come back. Can't wait to return!!

I had this place in the bookmarks and figured now was the best time to visit. Parking can be an issues in Downtown St. Charles since it is limited to street parking or public parking a few blocks away. We found parking right in front of FPC, mainly because it was a cold, Monday morning. We were greeted immediately, and inside was much smaller than I expected. We got seated right away though, and a good chance to really review the menu. I got a house coffee (delicious), and my husband got a Purple Haze Lemonade. We ended up getting a kid's pancake with bacon and scrambled eggs, Short Rib Breakfast Stack, and a Bomb Burrito. The pancake for my 2 year old was MASSIVE so it was a good day for him lol. The short rib stack was yummy - hash browns with runny eggs and meat on top. The burrito was also pretty good. Our breakfast entrees came with a side order of potatoes and while it was good, it got saltier over time so I might not get that next time. They advertise beignets, so we might go for that next time and try out their lunch menu!

Let me start by saying that the food is usually very good. First Watch is one of my favorite breakfast spots, and I visit often. However, today's meal fell short of what I have come to expect. I ordered my usual smoked salmon dish and immediately noticed there was much less salmon on the plate than normal. I also requested that the salmon be cooked a little, as I typically do. When the plate arrived, the portion was noticeably smaller than what I have received on countless previous visits and the salmon was a little hard. In addition, the tomatoes were soggy, which further affected the quality of the meal. I politely mentioned my concerns and asked for more salmon. The manager did attempt to accommodate my request and brought out additional salmon, which I appreciated. However, even after the additional salmon was added, the portion still did not resemble what I am accustomed to receiving when ordering this dish. During our conversation, I was told that adding more salmon would not make much difference because it "shrivels up" when cooked. As someone who orders this meal regularly, that explanation did not align with my past experiences. What disappointed me most was not that a mistake may have been made, but how the concern was handled. As a loyal customer, I wasn't looking for an argument or an explanation. I was simply hoping the manager would acknowledge my concern and ensure I left satisfied. Instead, I felt like I had to defend my own experience with a dish that I order frequently. Additionally, my niece had the same meal. Hers was the same way, but after she saw what happened with me, she didn't even ask for anymore. She just ate it the way it was. At that point, I chose not to make a bigger issue of it and became quiet, but the interaction changed the atmosphere of what was supposed to be an enjoyable birthday breakfast. I will continue to visit First Watch because I generally enjoy the food and have had many positive experiences there. However, I hope this feedback is taken seriously. Customer service is often remembered long after the meal is over, and while I appreciate the manager's attempt to correct the issue, today's experience did not reflect the level of quality or service that has kept me coming back over the years.
