Best gooey cake in the world! They also have outstanding brownies, and cookies, and probably the second best raspberry turnovers (after my own of course...haha). They do have a regular menu with sandwiches and soups but I honestly have never given that much a look. It's usually grab the gooey and get the fork. And don't share. We had another fantastic lunch at Russell's. We were a little late on Saturday, arriving a half hour before their 3pm closing time. The espresso machine was broken, so I enjoyed an iced coffee. The chipotle chicken club was satisfying and tasty with thick bacon, avocado, and a chipotle mayo sauce. She got a gooey butter cake for the table, which was fantastic! There was a firm crust on the bottom with a delicious gooey center and scattered blackberries. It was a beautiful afternoon to enjoy all of this on the patio. My friend and I came here for breakfast. I got a burrito and a caramel latte with oat milk. I LOVED the latte, but my food was a little cold and didn't taste great. Stopped by for some dessert. We had some gooey butter cake and it was awesome what really made it for us was how crisp the crust was. The top was very smooth and creamy. We had the original cake flavor but they had a blue berry, chocolate chip, and a caramel variety. They all looked great. We also got a snooker doodle and chocolate chip cookies both were great they were delicious and very crispy. We ordered at the counter and the service was great. I got their turtle latte, it is definitely on the sweeter side but oh so good. I also got a delicious turkey bacon caramelized onion sandwich, so good! Everyone that works here is suuuuper nice and kind. They are always so busy but have a smile on their faces! They have an extensive bakery with so many yummy options to enjoy there or take to go. I've never been disappointed when visiting Russell's. They always have such fresh food available as well as pastries galore! Order at the counter, pay and then they'll deliver the food to your table. The restaurant has plenty of indoor seating as well as a few outdoor tables too. Yesterday; I went for lunch with my parent and brought Baxter (my dog) so we sat outside. It was perfectly perfect. While they did not have a slice of the coconut cake available, they did have plenty of other desserts for us to choose from. We went with a coconut macaroon with chocolate drizzle. It was divine. I love Russell's! I ordered a cake two days before (when I know they asked for 3 days notice so that is on me). They're the nicest staff and made it work and it was a hit. It is a café in Fenton and it's charming on the inside from an ambience perspective and the staff is super helpful. If you're there on Wednesday, definitely trying to be chicken pot pie soup. It does not disappoint along with their biscuits. Everything I've had here is really really good. I've had sandwiches. I've had salads. You can't go wrong with anything that you choose from here. And then their desserts again I have never gone wrong with anything that I've gotten here from from a dessert perspective. There is a reason this place is packed everyday for lunch and it can get a little loud and during peak lunch you may have to wait for seat. You order your food at the counter then go find a table and they deliver your order to your table. The food is fresh and delicious. My go to is the BLAT Chopped Salad (Bacon/Lettuce/Avocado/Tomato) and it comes with a huge fluffy roll on the side. I've tried several things on the menu and all have been top quality. I don't think you can go wrong with anything you order here. They sell their gooey butter cakes in the local grocery stores. Met girlfriends for lunch today and had a lovely time. Crowded at noon, as expected, but the line moved quickly and food was delivered to our table pretty fast. My friends both had the Monterey turkey, one with Mac and cheese,the other with a fresh salad (which was lovely!). I selected a half Harvest sandwich (ham, cheddar and apple butter, grilled - fantastic combo!) and a half Asian chicken wrap. Everything was very tasty. I also picked up a Russell's Club sandwich (see pictures) with pasta salad for my husband to have for dinner. There are plenty of tables, from two-tops to seating for groups of 6-8. The only downside was the gentleman taking orders. I've placed orders with him in the past and even though I'm not making substitutions or anything like that, he always seems a little annoyed. I had total regret we didn't get there earlier to have some. Sausage and white bean sounded so good. For my combo, I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Club and the B.L.A.T. Salad. The portion size for half of each was huge. I was able to cut it in half again and take the rest home. The flavor on each item was a little bland. with so many ingredients with bold flavor I wouldn't have thought that was possible. I will say, I skipped the cheese on both as I always do but maybe that was where the flavor was. Staff was nice and they were efficient but not overly friendly. Russell's cafe easily lives up to the recommendations we have heard about it. We had a great breakfast here today. The food portions were large while the price was very reasonable. We had the sunrise on sourdough breakfast sandwich that came with a nice bowl of fruit. The Bakery items all look top notch, we're looking forward to the next excuse to stop by to try them or bring back something for the family. We even talked about the menu being that sweet spot between not too much, not too little, and nearly the perfect selection of cafe items, ex: the roast beef sandwich perfectly comes with horseradish like I like it :) The staff was all very friendly, helpful and working hard. Russel's is busy at lunch. The restaurant is always crowded and a bit noisy. A cafe ambiance, definitely American. I had a pear blue cheese salad and my friend had one of the house sandwiches. All the food was great. The brownie I had for dessert was very rich. My friend had a torte and had to take half of it home in a box. Very rich. The service was helpful and friendly. There are no waitresses, but there are staff in the dining room who can help you with what you need. One orders at the counter and the food is brought to the table. Can't wait to go back. read more

Randomly stopped by this place for the first time today around 12:30pm. It was super busy when I walked in- nearly every seat was taken. Only two people in line though, and they had two cashiers. The ambience was welcoming and exciting and the staff were pleasant and kind. I got a chicken salad sandwich with chips and a Diet Coke. Oh no, last meal was great this not so good. Wife's scrambled eggs were cold, edible but not good. My French toast not good at all, no flavor to the toast unless you added the lemon curd, the problem was that the center was tasteless, like bread pudding you need more time to let the egg mixture soak into the toast, or I drown it with my fork a few times, thus my center was white (see picture), thus providing little flavor to the toast. The in-law side of the family brought me here during our visit to St Louis. It's one of those places where you think being in a strip mall it could either be really good or really bad. It was definitely on the really really good side! It was very busy at lunch time on a weekday and you can tell this was very popular with the locals. Just an overall great place I had a lot of good baked goods and also served a really good lunch. After paying, you go to sit down and wait for them to bring you your order. I had a half sandwich and half salad. I don't remember the name of the salad but it had all the good ingredients in it and for a half salad, it was definitely filling! The day I went here the espresso machine was down. I was a little bummed because I was looking forward to an iced latte. The barista recommended I take a cup with ice and the turtle syrup, pour some drip coffee in with a splash of half & half. I took her up on that and I'm so glad I did because that honestly was probably better than the iced latte would have been! I also got a breakfast sandwich and a chocolate chip cookie. Everything I had was delicious and the employees there were so incredibly sweet! There was plenty of seating, I was able to tuck into a corner table and get a lot of work done. We also got a small vanilla cupcake and a gooey butter cake. We all thought the cupcake was better than the cake because the purple icing. The cake's bottom was a little hard. First time trying and it was amazing!!! Definitely recommend if you're in the Fenton area! Russell's had a big selection of sandwiches, I tried the chicken and smoked gouda which was a popular choice. They also had so many cakes and other bakes goods, I plan on trying more in the near future:) As far as service goes, the cashier was very friendly and answered all our questions kindly. I could not say enough good things about this cute cafe & bakery restaurant! I've spent 2 days here working remotely and the atmosphere was as expected. It gets quite crowded around lunch time (11-2pm) but no one has trouble finding seats and with the nice weather now, outdoor seatings are perfect if you also wants a quieter lunch. Food comes out freshly made and generous portion. I order 1/2 & 1/2 sandwiches and lasted 2 meals! The grilled sandwiches, the breads were a bit too hard for my preference but still very delicious. I've tried Pigs in the Orchard, Cuban Grill, Grilled chicken & smoked Gouda, Russell's club and their broccoli cauliflower soup - all very good. Their gooey butter cakes are also exceptional. my personal favorite is chocolate chip - crunchy top shell, gooey in the middle and a nice crunch crust - goes well with a cup of hot coffee or cold brew! Yum! When dining in, you'd order and pay at the front, self seat, food is brought to your table, and there's always a staff walking around to clean your finished board and take away your plates. The only thing wrong with this place is the location. I hope the people of Fenton LOVE Russell's because I would love it if they would me closer to me. This was my second visit and I loved everything both times. I did not indulge in any of the sweet treats, but I really wanted to. I did order a 1/2 and 1/2, the market salad was the perfect toppings to lettuce ratio, and they have a ton of salad options if that is what you are in the mood for. I also ordered a grilled wild mushroom sandwich, the cheese was melty and delightful and exactly what I needed it to be. The thing about their menu is, you have so many options!
