I had never met Bill before the night of our rehearsal/welcome dinner held at Little Point Clear - since I was coming from Austin, it made me a little nervous. But he had been easy to talk to over the phone for planning and had a great reputation. I kept hearing from people at the venue and other vendors how much I would like him. I could not have been happier with the food and service that night. The beautiful and delicious food was set up attractively, replenished throughout the evening, cleaned up and the leftovers packaged for me to take at the end. Seen various posts about this place, so when the opportunity came, we stopped in...very interesting place..a kind of a eclectic country store feel...the service on point with Stefani.....and the beer was cold. The Pork Belly was tasty and cooked well...my Blended Burger was juicy and tasted great. The Fried Green Beans tasted stale (weird). The Fish Sandwhich was huge....was pretty good...the Cream Sauce was not a cream sauce...not sure why they call it that....Onion Rings was good as well. We are local and have never eaten here before so decided on a whim to stop in and try it. We got there at 2:00 on a Monday with other cars in the parking lot and about 5 tables full inside with other people. After being seated we got our drinks quickly but waited about 20 minutes for our server to come back and take our order. After that we didn't see her again until after the 40 minutes it took to bring our food out. Meanwhile we heard employees in the back talking about how tired they were of being there and how they just wanted to "get out of that building". I get it, been there done that, but when you're able to be heard from tables-- may not be the best idea to talk about how sick you are of being there. Very unprofessional and made us a little uncomfortable. Burgers were okay, not great. I got the Ole Texas and my husband got the bacon cheeseburger. Honestly the patties were extremely thin and looked boiled or baked vs grilled (they were like a light gray color on the outside) and had the feel of a McDonalds burger patty. My husband asked for no veggies on his and it came out slathered in onions, but we had already been there an hour so he sucked it up and picked them all off. The bacon was honestly the best part of the meal. And the sweet tea. Otherwise these were sub-par burgers and terrible service. The poor table next to us had water falling off the vents above them into their drinks. The whole place felt a little dirty and we don't plan to ever go back. My wife and I visited BILL-E's several years ago and I don't remember them having as wide of a selection as we encountered today. I had the "Holy Cow" cooked medium as requested. It was very flavorful, juicy, and required very little ketchup (more of a habit, than necessity). My wife's pulled pork was moist and flavorful topped with coleslaw. Service was attentive, nice cool seating on another hot Summer day. Definitely returning in the near future. read more

I definitely had this place hyped up in my head. The social media pictures looked fantastic, but ultimately this place fell short. Pros: The pimento cheese and potato chips were solid. Not life altering, but good nonetheless. The house made bacon was just the right thickness, just the right doneness, just the right smokiness. 10/10 The atmosphere isn't easily duplicated and very unique. There's a BOGO offer through Facebook. Cons: No amount of bacon or other toppings can cover up the cheap Sysco hamburger patties. Only a trace amount of the comeback sauce was put on my burger. I still have no idea what it tastes like. For being a slow Sunday afternoon with only 1 other group in the outside area, service was slow. More that normal. Overall, I've been waiting to try this place for a while, but it's just far of enough of a drive, it took a us a while to get here. Now that we have, I just kinda feel like this place is "meh". The first visit our service was awful, the drinks watered down and it took forever for our food to arrive.....we thought maybe it was just an OFF day........so, next visit was a large group and I expected service to be slow- and it was. Again today my husband and I decided to give them another chance ( we are hard headed) to show us that the other times were just flukes........we arrived ( were not greeted) and waited patiently for about 8 minutes before someone even spoke to us. After a couple of more minutes we had a gentleman POINT to a table for us to sit. We sat and waited...........and WAITED and WAITED. A server walked past us FOUR TIMES to carry checks to tables beyond us and NEVER ONCE ACKNOWLEDGED US. We waited another 10 minutes and she walked to the 4 that had been seated AFTER us to see what they wanted to drink. At that point we got up and left the restaurant. I spoke to the gentleman that had pointed out our table and told him the problems. WE WILL NEVER BE BACK. They obviously do not hire enough help to run a restaurant and wait on customers in a timely fashion. read more

This was a great place service and food. We had already been to one place and walked in, waited for 10 minutes and never was acknowledged until we walked out. Once we arrived here we were welcomed immediately. Waitress/hostess took our drink order and brought them immediately. We placed our order for the Holy Cow and I ordered a cup of gumbo which had some very large shrimp mixed in as well. The Holy Cow was one of the best burgers we have ever had. We actually split it and it was more than enough with the sweet potato fries. Service and food was fantastic. My wife and I went again after coming home from an Alabama Football Game. Atmosphere is great. We sat outside and had live music, which was entertaining with the lady singing. She's really very good. We started with the onion rings and there were plenty for sure. My wife ordered the pulled pork, which was really good. Only complaint was they didn't have any baked beans, otherwise it was really good and sauce was like we like it. I had the pork belly sandwich with slaw and fries. Unbelievable sandwich and now I know why it was voted best sandwich. Loves the thickness and the way it tasted. This guy knows how to do bacon. We did have a problem with many flies when our food arrived, but it wasn't the end of the world. My review is only pertaining to the small batch bacon. In February of 2022, the first shipment of my "bacon of the month" arrived at my door (this was purchased as a gift from Goldbelly) and the first shipment just happened to be from Bill-E's. Immediately upon opening the box, the unique smell of smoked meats filled my kitchen. I was was flooded with childhood memories of my grandfather, who owned operated a smoked sausage company. While familiar with smoked meats, I still reached out to Bill-E's through email to inquire about the variations in color of the bacon. I quickly received an email back which just helped to put my concerns at ease. I eagerly awaited breakfast the next morning to consume my first piece. Let's just say, Bill-E's blew away. The bacon is so flavorful, has an amazing crunch, and makes my belly happy. Side note: The gift order provided me with the sliced bacon. Please note: the sliced bacon is cut thick but not too thick (which personally I prefer). So, for those who wish to manage their thickness, I suggest going with the slab. Went there for lunch on Saturday. Sat at the bar, food was amazing. One issue I did have though was the bartender, Stacy, I believe her name is. She wasn't very attentive and her customer service skills in general were just not very good whatsoever. She seemed to be very rude and just looked like she didn't want to be there. Where do I begin?! AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!! We stopped in by chance because the outside caught our attention. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing. The food was top notch! I had the Old 27 burger with Swiss cheese, my husband had the Bacon Cheeseburger, my daughter had the chicken strips and my FIL had the fish sandwich. All very flavorful and made very well. Bushwackers are great! Also, the general manager, Nate, came over to personally make sure we were happy and enjoying the food. He is an asset to this establishment! The waitress was very helpful and attentive. If you are in the area this is a MUST place to stop and have a bite. Great bar and outdoor area as well. I got the bacon cheese burger- seriously the best burger I have ever eaten, the bacon was out of this world!! My wife ordered two large gumbo's and an order of wings for take-out tonight. They were prompt the order was ready when she arrived but when she got home was very disappointed with the size of the gumbo( they shorted her of 1/2 of the order) out of the two servings there was one small shrimp (total) and it was so salty we couldn't eat it. She called and spoke with the manager who said he was aware of the gumbo breaking down and would suggest to his cooks to not serve older gumbo folks this was 5:30 in the evening you would think food would be at its best and maybe it was. I give it one star due to the fact it was ready when they said it would be. The manager did offer her a desert when she comes back which we will not be back but never offered a refund for the food we paid for and didn't receive, very disappointing. read more

Hungry for a late lunch, I couldn't resist stopping by Bill-E's, which looks like an historic roadside honky tonk. After exploring, I learned that it's really only nine years old, just made to look historic by incorporating some unique architectural pieces from around the gulf south. Very well done, and authentic looking. We were warmly greeted and offered a seat in the courtyard patio area where we could have our small dog join us. Selected a draft beer from a decent selection, although they were out of several. Decided on burgers. I went with the holy cow burger, with the bacon that apparently put Bill-E's on the map. My date had the regular burger. Both were amazing! If you're a burger aficionado, you owe it to yourself to get in here and have one of these! You won't regret it. read more

Boiled Peanuts - canned gas station variety Fried Green Beans - Best thing we ate Chili - Do not order Ok, so we ordered 2 bowls of chili, an order of spicy boiled peanuts and a side of fried green beans. This was all for us to share. We are from Louisiana and came to Alabama for our anniversary. We like trying new restaurants and down home cooking is our favorite. This is definitely not a place we will be returning to. We ordered to-go and was told 15 minutes till pick up. It took longer than that to drive from our room to the restaurant. We had to wait for our food when we got there; no big deal, everyone gets behind sometimes. My husband goes in to pick up the order. He comes back out about 15 minutes later complaining about "gas station peanuts". I was shocked. Don't advertise "boiled peanuts" like it's something special and break out the yellow and green canned variety (if you know, you know). Not to mention there was a peanut farm we passed on the way to the restaurant. The fried green beans with ranch was pretty much as expected. They were the same as every other restaurant that serves them. The chili though. That is definitely where the problem was. I ordered 2 BOWLS of chili. What my husband showed up to the car with was definitely cups. I sent him back in and he spoke to the manager. He was told "well we have to heat it up or we can give you another appetizer". My husband said he would wait; we ordered chili because that was what we wanted to eat. So, they bring out 2 additional cups of chili. We make it back to our room and go to eat. Upon opening them we noticed the tops were loaded with red onions. Neither one of us like these in our chili. It did not say on the menu that onions were included (if it did I would have asked for no onions). So here we sat for the next 15-20 minutes picking onions out of 4 cups of chili. Also, while doing this we noticed that all 4 were cold. Not just cold from the drive but cold like never heated cold. As you can see from the pics there was no consistency. While my husband got chili "soup", I got what I can only describe as "hot dog" chili. Not to mention one of my cups was only 1/2 full. I mean, really?! The money we spent here definitely could have gone on something better. On a positive note; the outside was really cute and they also have Wickles pickles (which are the best pickles on the planet)! read more

I just wanted to update my horrible review. I really "slaughtered" this place because it deserved it! There were a bunch of teenagers who didn't care in charge and they were driving this amazing place into the dirt. I love this restaurant and it pissed me off! I don't if somebody listened to me or other voices but I want to say loud and clear...... THIS PLACE IS BACK AND IT IS AWESOME AGAIN!!! Thank goodness. The service and food here are BACK. They actually are sticking to their published hours. There are excellent bands playing the stage, excellent burgers and other fare coming from the kitchen and friendly, attentive staff taking orders and delivering the food. I am so thankful that the rustic bar around the corner from my house is back!!! Bill, whatever magic you worked (I suspect it's the bearded, tattooed guy from Ohio) that fixed this place, BRAVO AMIGO! It is literally night and day from a customer perspective. The food is amazing again. The bands are great and the customer service was so much better. Yes, I went all the way from 1 star to 5 star on my rating update because they deserve it! ALL of the offending, smart assed teenagers that were running off the customers are GONE! The young people that remain are very nice and do their job! What a concept. Great hole in the wall, open air, casual food bar with bands and a cool vibe that has saved their identity. I am celebrating tonight. read more

A picture can speak a thousand words. This was the most disappointing horrible almost made my stomach upset by the time I choked it down meal I've ever had. Bill he's also known as Old 27 Grill is known for their pork belly and bacon what put them on the map. The pork belly sandwich that I got was so dry and so tough it was almost like jerky it was horrible. Nearly inedible. The mac and cheese was something literally out of a Kraft mac and cheese Box off of a Walmart shelf it had absolutely no taste no salt no pepper and believe it or not no bacon which would be and amazing ingredient to add to mac and cheese since you're known for your bacon. The grilled pineapple; this was a side to be picked with a kids menu that went with that horrible mac and cheese. That grilled Pineapple was not grilled it was placed on a dirty greasy hamburger flat top it smelled and tasted like a greasy hamburger you couldn't even taste the pineapple flavor in the canned pineapple. And last but not least the lovely fruit pies you see that picture from the waiter app? Looks amazing looks so yummy perfect dessert. Now, Please look at what I received. Two McDonald's Fried Pies with bacon wrapped around it and nothing else and then please look at the picture of what was inside the pie nothing. Absolutely nothing. I have lived in Fairhope for 20 years and I have been to this restaurant several times and had waiter from them several times in hopes that it's some point it would get better not so much. I think by changing their name to Billy instead of old 27 Grill made things worse it's absolutely horrible and I will never ever give them another dime of my money. It is the worst restaurant on the Eastern Shore Hands Down don't waste your money or your time unless you like to go drink because they don't ever mess up a drink at the bar. read more

I enjoyed the rustic feel of this place. Bring the kids and enjoy the outdoor family seating at picnic tables...there's even a corn hole game to play. The fried green beans are a nice crunchy alternative to just having fries and are delicious! The sweet potato fries are really good too. The no bean chili is good but even better on a hot dog. The burgers look good and the kids loved the chicken nuggets and kid's menu cheeseburgers. There's a full bar and plenty of good things to try on the menu. Before Bill-e's there was Old 27. I keep going back to Bill-e's in hope that the spirit of Old 27 will return. There's a lot to like about Bill-e's. The outdoor seating is great. I love sitting out their with the family, when the weather is good and listen to music, sometimes live, drink a beer, and watch my kids play. I've spent some Saturday afternoons having a beer at the bar and watching football games. Talking to friendly locals and bartenders. I really did like this place. Unfortunately, I have to use the word did. I'm not sure what happened to the place but quality has decreased significantly. I have yet to go there and have them get my order right. I'm not talking a complicated order just what's on the menu. I ordered a Mardi Gras dog there recently and the only thing that came on it was relish. A time before that, my wife ordered the comeback chicken and it was just a breast between a bun, no comeback sauce or anything. We were wondering if we offended someone somehow. I got a side of chips as they used to be really good, but now they are mediocre at best. It's really sad to see what's going on with this place. I'll never forget when I first moved here and had the Ole Texas burger. That burger was very good, now it's just, meh, and the order will probably be messed up. Service is also pretty poor. Often times we will be seated and it takes forever for us just to get silverware. The staff is friendly but not very attentive. I don't like leaving a two star review. I really don't, especially at a place that I have fond memories of. In the age of googling where you want to eat and judging by reviews two stars can hurt a place. I was hopeful for a better meal at Bill-E's. The service was friendly. Some of the food was good, and some was just okay. The prices were too high to match the product. My mother in law had a small house salad- she said it was okay. My husband and I shared the Blended burger and the Dixie chick sandwiches. The blended burger was a disappointment. It did have any flavor and was really over cooked. The pickles were good. The chicken from the Dixie chick was delicious. The pimiento cheese was also good. For both sandwiches, the Buns were cold and pasty- I had to just eat the filling and not the bun. Over all, I would not suggest coming back, but if I made it back, I would get the chicken tenders! read more
