My experience with Bill Kay GMC was extremely disappointing and frustrating. On May 4, 2026, my family visited the dealership around 6:00 PM looking for a specific vehicle. We explained exactly what we wanted and needed. Although they did not have the vehicle in stock, the sales team assured us they could locate a comparable vehicle from another dealership. We agreed on pricing, and while we were initially prepared to leave and continue shopping elsewhere, we were repeatedly encouraged to stay because they were confident they could secure the vehicle for us. Because we urgently needed a vehicle by the next day, May 5, we relied on their assurances. We agreed not to pursue other dealerships and placed a $500 deposit to move forward with the purchase. The following day, around 4:00 PM, our salesperson sent a text message stating there was a "logistics delay" and that the vehicle would be available the next day. The explanation seemed unusual, so I contacted the dealership directly. That's when I was informed that they actually did not have a vehicle available for us at all and there was nothing they could do. Needless to say, I was extremely upset. The issue wasn't just that the vehicle fell through--it was the way the situation was handled. We were given assurances that caused us to stop shopping elsewhere, only to be informed at the last minute that no vehicle was available. Better communication and transparency could have prevented a great deal of stress and inconvenience. As a parent, I was suddenly left scrambling without reliable transportation and worried about how I would get my children to school the next day. The dealership left us completely stranded. Fortunately, we immediately went to Riverfront GMC, where we found an even better version of the same make and model for over $1,000 less than the price we had agreed to at Bill KGMC. Based on this experience, I will not return to Bill Kay GMC and cannot recommend them to others. The lack of communication, accountability, and follow-through demonstrated a serious lack of integrity. Buyers should proceed with caution and make sure they have firm confirmation before relying on any promises made. I will also add, in November of 2025 we purchased form Bill Kay Nissan in DG and they were amazing! We already know we will go back there when we need our next car. read more

If there was a rating lower that one they'd deserve it! The service department led me on on a defective GMC supplied bed cover for my truck. It catastrophically failed, had a warranty, but neither the Bill Kay, GMC, nor the manufacturer honored the warranty. In fact, they told me to be patient, they'd take care of me, until the warranty expired! I'm considering purchasing a mother car, but it won't be at Bill Kay! read more

Buyer Beware!!! They put me and my family's life in danger by telling me they fixed my suspension properly and saying everything going on with my tires (screeching, slipping) was "normal". Two of my tires blew while traveling to and from Indiana on I-65 - one blew in the am and the other blew in the pm. This could have all been prevented if they had originally fixed the suspension like they said they did and looked at the wear on my tires in July when I told them something was wrong. I can't warn you enough - do NOT trust them with your car. On top of all that happened, the customer service was horrible. After that horrible hail storm last week, my car was riddled with dents. My insurance gave me some suggestions to get the work done. We chose Bill Kay Collision body shop on Ogden in Downers Grove. We were greeted with a friendly face and very polite attendant. Then Jovi, I assume body shop manager, met us and detailed the process. She was always available to speak to on the phone and never gave me the bums rush. Very pleasant person to work with. After seeing all the damage that was done I was not holding my breath that my car would be back to the way I knew and loved. Much to my surprise they surpassed my expectations! My car looks brand spanking new! They did an excellent job! I would highly recommend this body shop. Tell Jovi I sent you! Again she was wonderful to work with, so personable, and the body shop workers exceeded my expectations! I couldnt take call so he left a voicemail. When I was able to I called back. The salesman was busy with a customer. He called me back a little while later. Basically asked if I was ready to upgrade. I told him I wasnt interested unless he could meet me at my payment. We chatted for a few about everything including that I would trade in what I had and all the time I am looking on their website. I told him that I would only be interested in the 2026 White Acadia Elevation they had but I was not interested in going up in payment. He said "let me go talk to sales manager and call me back. He called back and said manager said yes they could do that. I told him I didnt want them wasting my time. He said nope they wouldnt be wasting my time. So we set up an appointment for yesterday morning. I said again a couple of times I dont want my time wasted. He said he unsterstood and that he talked to manager and said they could get it done. I even told him I had payoff on my trade. So I go up this morning and checked the car out. Went for a test drive. Came back and he presented it to manager. THEY WERENT EVEN CLOSE!!! Zero customer service from the service manager Justin. I was at the shop in November for an oil change. I asked them to look at the clear coat they put on my truck as in daylight it was all scratched up. Nice guy said yes that needs to be redone it will be warranty and will take a day to get done. I told him I would need a loner as I had no other car. He said that his manager would have to set that up, but he was busy and would call me to set it up. Never called, I have called at least 10 times and left messages on his voicemail and with employees and no return call it is now 2/11/25. This is the worst dealership on the planet. Took truck in for recall fix (took them 6 months to handle it), then they didn't finish the whole thing because after three days of having my vehicle I had no option but to take it back since they seemingly weren't making any progress on it. As it turns out, they ran my vehicle through the car wash even though I specifically told them not to and it scraped multiple areas of my paint off of my vehicle. I ended up having to have them refinish the vehicle to fix all the damage, and once again they held onto my vehicle for over a week longer than they said they were going to, and I found multiple new scratches when I picked it back up. I was so sick of dealing with them that I just accepted the damage to my vehicle and opted never to bring it back here again. As it turns out I only have half of my recall completed at this point and I have to go to a different dealership to have the rest dealt with, because I just don't trust these guys not to destroy my vehicle read more

I was involved in an accident in April and i went with Bill Kay to help me restore my vehicle. They did an amazing job especially working with Fernando. He was very efficient and honest with giving me information about what needed to be fixed. There was very good communication skills and finished up my vehicle fast. The only issue i had with my whole experience is that they had to bondo some areas and in the process of them sanding there was a ton of bondo dust still all over the car. Not the biggest issue of course but still something. I would definitely recommend to the next person when it comes to vehicle maintenance!! read more

The service department gave me the run around. I purchased the vehicle brand new from them in 2018. Fast forward to April 2025. My engine light keeps coming on and they have been charging me for a fix and they can't fix it. I've spent over or close to $2,000 and the light still comes on. November 14, 2020 I purchased a 2017 GMC ACADIA with 29k. I also purchased an Extended Warranty for $1500.00 with the vehicle purchase. The Finance Officer explained each document and several times he repeated the Vehicle Warranty expired January 2026. My witness and I heard him say several times that the warranty expired JANUARY 2026. If the Warranty expired JANUARY 2023 it should've been written directly on the Warranty. When I attempt to use my warranty July 2023 I was told that that warranty expired in January 2023. Subsequently, I review the documents and discovered the Finance Officers included a unsigned Vehicle Warranty document without my signature but it included his. How could Management not acknowledge this. The Finance Officer attempt to force me to pay $300, for taxes that I did not owe. GMC and I negotiated an exact price for the Vehicle. Any dollar amount over belongs to GMC. I then received a call from the Finance Officer screaming hollering and cussing me. He stated and threatened to get me. Not understanding what he meant but later I understood he Shortened my VEHICLE WARRANTY. This sounds like something that should be INVESTIGATED by the Government. This sounds like a SCAM to get extra money out of certain customers. A few days after purchasing the Vehicle I sent the $300 while asking him to send me a document confirming the money went Directly for TAXES. Extremely poor customer service on the sales side. I am not from the area and was interested in purchasing a vehicle, it took days and multiple emails repeating myself that I am not able to "stop by" to get any information on the vehicle. I still had to call in person to try and get clarification on the discounts offered on the vehicle, come to find out their marketing grouped all the possible discounts and advertised that as the "reduced price", even though not all the discounts applied to all potential customers leading to a falsely reduced advertised price. I waited and waited for an estimate, was told they knew I was waiting only to receive an automated email tonight that the vehicle I was interested in had sold today. No contact from sales team, no contact from anyone, still never received the estimate. Glad I discovered how they feel about "customer service" before I made the trip out there. I took my 2015 Mustang Fastback with right muffler damage to Bill Kay Buick in Ogden in Downers Grove and it's been there for three days with zero work done. I have to call them all day to finally get a an estimate of $1,800 dollars since insurance not covering. "Corrosion, wear and tear not covered." That's the assessment by the mechanic. I'm not convinced so I brought my car to nearby Meineke at Downer's Grove and Alex with Isak checked the muffler. Told me it's not corroded. The pipe is broken due to a prior rear end accident. Isak cut and welded some pipe. Everything done in 45 minutes and the actual cost...? Not $4,800 quoted by Fair Oaks Ford nor $1,800 estimate by Bill Kay but $350.00!!! Avoid this place at all cost. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! WARNING!! 8/15. Update to my review below and after having my car for 30 hours.....promises and no work done. Seriously....I only wanted brakes and an oil change and checking on A/C. The manager who I escalated to, Bob, also agreed car would be ready for brakes , transmission fluid and oil change with A/C fixed later when parts came in and I'd receive communications ie phone call on Saturday. NOTHING!!! I called at 1:15pm Saturday after waiting all morning only to find, again, nothing had been done. The employees even said, "we didn't know it needed to be worked on and no one told us" . I'm going to have to pick up my car and now go to Another Buick dealer who has better reviews. Last time I buy my cars here and I've bought 2 in the last 8 years. Also, when I went to pick the car up as I was in the service office waiting yet again for an employee to help me. Other's were calling in asking for Bob the manager, who was off on Saturday's, so it seems the problem was not just with me and if you read some of the recent reviews (like I should have) you'll see a bigger operational issue here. 8/14 So service has really gone down. Family been shoping with bill kay for a while but that will come to an end. My lady went into buy a vehicle and they let her leave with the car before the bank approved her loan I guess. She's had the car over a month and just got a call saying she needs to come in and renegotiate the deal, have never heard of this before. Also, the dealership tried pulling a old school shady tactic by trying to get her to sign a higher interest rate. We asked if this came with warranty, they said no, then tried to get her to sign a 22% interest rate and told her it was only 16% trying to get her to sign 22% and then probably try and sell her a warranty on top. Even the few times I have come here for an oil change which should be 30 minutes, I have spent hours here. Was here for a recall , originally was told 1 hour, when I arrived I was told 90 minutes , after 2 1/2 hours I approached service person and was told it's being worked on, walked thru their shop,,,, my vehicle wasn't even in the shop,,, it's was parked out back ( not being worked on!!!! The problem here is mis information if you don't have a clue how long it's going to take,??? Inform your customer!!! I was searching for a used vehicle for my daughter. Bill Kay Buick GMC had one that fit my criteria. I dealt with Herb, very pleasant and wasn't high pressure. Answered all my questions, I had concerns about some cosmetic damage. Herb said they could do some work on those and brought in the sales manager Terry. Terry looked over the damage and set expectations on repairs, which was acceptable. Purchased the vehicle with a written promise from dealership to work on cosmetic damage. Brought the car back and a different manager Seville went over the car with me making note of the damaged to be repaired. They exceeded expectations. Very happy with my experience. My only negative experience was with the cashier. Even my two girls said she wasnt very pleasant. Maybe we caught her on a bad day. read more

I brought my car in for a 7:30am appointment. I got a call from Keith and he said I could pick my car up anytime until 7pm. I arrive at 6:02pm and there's one person who just closed up with all the doors locked and he said everyone left. This dealership is a waste of time to go to and extremely overpriced for their lack of services and compassion to the client. Edit from the next day: I called Keith's direct number and had to leave a message. I then called the main number and when transferred to services. Keith answered, but couldn't answer his individual phone? He then said I could get 10% off when I asked for it due to the inconvenience. When I asked for a list of costs, he had to look into it and call back. He called back 40 minutes later and said that he could only give me $100 instead of 10% after talking to a coworker. Not even a manager. He then went on to list everything that was completed and stated the transmission coolant was repaired even though I told him that I didn't want that done because the bill was already so high. He then said that he meant to say that it wasn't completed. He ended the call with a "Thank you" and mentioned nothing about correcting my issues with his services. Safe to say I am not impressed with this dealerships customer service. Another update: When I picked up the car, I waited 20 minutes to speak with Keith. When I got to speak with him, he said that he didn't care that I had posted a bad review. The breakdown of labor was also more than he told me on the phone. On the phone he quoted $667 for each wheel bearing and labor. The breakdown does not match on the receipt. Keith does not use facts when he speaks to customers and has no respect for them. Cue the Twilight Zone music . . . somebody pinch me . . .We're not in Kansas anymore. First, and I mean a first, I received a confirmation/reminder call the evening before my appointment, the young lady even thanked me for my business. Cheerfully greeted upon arrival, confirmed reasons for today's appointment and off to the waiting area. NEW furniture, albeit extremely uncomfortable, TV still blasting. After about 40 minutes the service person comes to inform me that the work for 2 of the items will each take about 4 hours of labor. I was offered a ride home and back when car was ready or a loaner, whichever I want. Both were perfectly acceptable choices rather than spend the day waiting in the waiting room. The porter who drove me home was very personable and I got home safely. When my car was ready at the end of the day, I decided to leave it over night and pick it up in the morning ~ no problem. So, I arrive to find my car out in the elements, covered with snow and ice. After paying, I have to walk out, hope the door will open, start it, let it warm up, and scrape off the snow so I can see when I drive. Unlike people who do not feel their back window should be clear, I like being able to see the traffic around me. Had it not been 20 degrees and very windy, this task might not have been quite so off putting. Moving up with the stars, though. read more

They had 60 months no interest plus Employee discount. . car is fine (though I would like a manual transmission). My Brother works for GM (Saturn IT guy. . . white color?) So on to Bill Kay. Last weekend, over easter, I serviced my car (red engine lights and I needed Illinois plate holder on the front bumper) The engine light was diagnosed but they couldn't repair it (part not in stock). So I came back home to Downers Grove and made an appointment with Bill Kay. I explained the situation and they assured me that they had the part in stock. So on Thursday my wife took the car in while I was at work. She waited an hour and fifteen minutes and then the guy came out and said "uh, yeah. . .we need to order the part" Okay Num nuts at Bill Kay - you tell me you have the part in, you waste my friggen time, and then you spend a full hour doing nothing. . . oh yeah, they washed my car that gets the F&@kers two stars. read more

However the manager told me he would find me one which he did. Now I didn't needed financing if they had the truck And we agreed on the price I would take it. However he came up to me with a huge number i said no I put my offer he went down a little bit but! That price was only if I financed the truck?!!! Why would I financed??? And told me I needed to buy a less expensive truck .... Do not buy a car here. This place is so shady. They are taking us to small claims court over an amount of money we never received a bill for. I can't even call it a bill because it was never billed. The first time we ever heard about it was when we were served papers for our court date? We have attempted to resolve this with the dealership and they won't even talk to us. Very unhappy with this dealer. I live in Michigan and bought a GMC Terrain SLT in Downers Grove where our son lives. We came in not expecting to buy at that moment, but the dealer had the exact car I was looking for. I had been looking in Michigan, but Somerset GMC in Troy, MI. was not able to find the exact car I wanted. I ended up buying from Bill Kay, but looking back, I would have been better off buying from Somerset GMC and purchasing something else. Our salesperson, John, was very nice and helpful. Beyond that, everyone else at the dealership was not easy to work with. The managers were not willing to budge on the price at all. After about an hour or so of dealing with several managers going in and out of a back room, they went down $500. In my mind, this was ridiculous. They seemed angry, like I was putting them out trying to negotiate a reasonable price. They made me feel bad and uncomfortable for dealing with them and trying to get the best price on the car. That's the business. You don't make people feel bad and uncomfortable for negotiating. Next, I lost $1,500 on my trade in. Michigan would have given me $13,000 on my trade in and Bill Kay only gave me $11,500, of which the sarcastic trade in manager came up and said, "Show me the car I just paid too much money for." Even after all of that, I still agreed on the deal because the car had the interior color I was looking for. So next, we made out way to Rubin the financial guy for the dealer. Well, Rubin does not know his job. Don't trust his word. After filling out the paperwork, we asked Rubin several times, is this the bottom line? He said, "Yes." "We've taken out Michigan taxes, so all you have to do is pay for the plates in Michigan." "You will not have any problems, we do this all the time." There were four of us in the room, my husband, my son, his girlfriend, and myself. My son and his girlfriend are both sales reps for dealerships in Chicago and know the business. We all heard him say that what I was signing was the bottom line. So, I agreed and signed the paperwork. When I got back to Michigan and received the title, I went to the Secretary of State. I was expecting to pay for the plate and be on my way. Well, that didn't happen. The Secretary of State, charged me another $563. I asked them why, and they said the dealer did not charge you enough money. There was a trade in law that Rubin never told us about. So, there went the supposed "$500 deal" they gave me on the car in the first place. I had no choice but to pay it. I promptly called the dealer and talked to several people including the girl at the desk, Rubin, Seville, and several other people. They all apologized but would not do anything about it. Seville even said that this was not right, but he was not willing to compensate me in any way to correct the problem. I'm very positive that I was not the first person from Michigan to buy a car there. As Rubin stated, we do this all the time. Well, apparently the people in the dealer do not know their job, and I should not be the one to have to pay for their mistakes, but apparently they don't care. Beware of this dealer, because the bottom line isn't the bottom line. They are uninformed and not willing to work well with their clients. I believe that their mission is to make as much money as they can without regard to the people who they are selling to. I would never buy a car here again, and I would not recommend anyone else buying a car here either. Buy your car at a dealership you can trust. That certainly is not Bill Kay GMC in Downers Grove. Let's see, where do we start I stopped by unplanned to look at one of their used cars on the lot, on one of the Cubs playoff nights, we we're Literally the only 2 customers in the place, we thought it was closed at first. We walked in, walked past the sales managers "office" walked across the showroom and found 1 salesman at his desk, we approached him and "woke him up I think", he was a decent guy I guess, so we asked if he can grab the keys to "xyz" so we can look inside of it, he said he would get them.....we walked out onto the lot and waited by "xyz" for him to come with the keys, next the I know he's yelling YELLING "YO! YO!!! What car do you want to see?" across the whole lot, now i'm 49 years old, not 19, but ok I'll look past that. Then comes the test drive, now I"ve bought lots of cars before and visit lots of dealerships as my reviews will show, this was a first for me....as he was closing the doors he yells to us "AND NO HIGHWAY DRIVING!!" What? WTF did I just hear, seriously again like above 49 years old here... and the story continues, after the drive (the only reason this continued was because my son really like the car) after trying to find our salesman, asking the guy next to us if he knows where he is, I get a nope, and you think he would go find him, but guess not. We sit at his desk, the first VERY FIRST thing out of his mouth was "on a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your credit score" NEVER EVER EVER EVER have I been asked that!!!! Dumb founded I said uhm...a 10, THEN before we even again talk anything about the car, he's telling me to fill out a credit app! Yeah, uhm that's not happening I told him. Next phase of the story, I get asked "how much do you want to pay" SO I told him WHAT I want ed to pay for the car, not what will I pay.....so, the let me go talk to my Manager games start (get a clue Bill it's 2016 stop with that game) Anyway, literally we sat there for 15 minutes (again the only 2 in the showroom) finally I had enough and was heading for the door, because he still had not come back, sales manager comes out knocking $500.00 off the list price of his "aggressively" priced car, I turn down the offer only to be called "Boss" by the sales manager (ok that's rude and condescending) And the story continues, after a day of thinking about it, I was going to swallow my pride and buy the car because my son really liked it, so I called the next day my salesman was off, so I asked for a sales managers email, The phone girl told me that "uh we don't have those up here by us" Really Bill? Really? again 2016 In disgust and frustration I just said thanks and hung up, funny thing is I found the EXACT same car, with 8,000 less miles for $500.00 under that fantastic deal (that's 1k less then you if you can't figure that out) the sales manager was giving me, "the boss" ,from Lexus in Naperville (also wrote a review about them) It took me 1 hour, 1 hour!!! It started at Woody's Buick in Naperville, let's just say we walked out of this place due to poor customer service. Then we decided to take Ogden home and we passed by Bill Kay Buick in Downers Grove, we were greeted with enthusiasm by a young man name Tyler Eubanks and we said we wanted to purchase a Buick Envision for our parents. He sat us down and went through the options and cost and of course the test drive. After the test drive, we sat down and iron out the details. Then Tyler introduced us to his general sales manager Noel Rivera and went over the details regarding the sale and 123 we had a gentleman's agreement. No deposit nonsense, because they had to do a dealer trade. I received a follow-up call from Tyler and Noel and said the car will be ready the following Saturday. Well, we arrived and greeted with enthusiasm and we were there from start to finish in an hour thirty minutes and that's including Tyler going over the vehicle options with our parents. I want to thank Bill Kay Buick and their exceptional staff, from their receptionist Jazmine who kept us in contact with the right personnel and our finance manager Jose who explained the purchase procedure to our parents. Exactly how a dealership nightmare would go... Am I surprised that they make fun of their partner dealerships in front of the customers? NOT AFTER GOING THERE. "Bill Kay Chevy only sold 5 cars on a Saturday" in case anyone was wondering... This is what the Bill Kay Buick salesman were speaking about in front of their customers. When I arrived at Bill Kay Buick, it was pretty empty - and luckily I had already made an appointment with the internet sales team so I thought it wouldn't be a bad wait. I WAS WRONG. I waited almost an hour before a salesperson took me out to look at the first dirty Buick vehicle (which was also taken out of the shop because it had been damaged on the lot). I was not shown or told about any special features on the vehicle - just asked how fast I could make the purchase. Now to be fair, Paul was a nice gentleman - he was not the reason my experience was completely terrible. It was instead his manager, Mike Darge. This individual was SO RUDE. I accepted a deal on a car, and later on when signing the paperwork - there was an additional $30/ per month added on, and I was just expected to sign. I was not told there was an increase or anything. Mike told me "he hadn't finished the numbers" when I accepted their proposal - and that he could not go any lower. I told Mike and Paul I was no longer interested and as I was walking out, Mike Darge yelled at me "I WON'T MAKE THESE DEAL FOR YOU AGAIN." (By the way, there was no deal - no money taken off sticker price or anything.) I told the dealership about my experience, and in their sincere apologizes, GUESS WHAT! - they had Mike Darge call me AGAIN and tell me he couldn't do any better so they would take me off their call list. (So sweet, thanks guys!) All they cared about was taking my money - not my experience - not finding a car I loved - just completing the purchase. This is the first time I really was disgusted by GM. I would not recommend this dealership to my worst enemy. This was exactly how people picture buying a car - pushy salesman and crooked managers. BTW - I had a wonderful experience at Acura, Nissan, and Honda. If someone is looking for a car, I would recommend ANYWHERE besides this terrible joke of a dealership. read more

My husband and I purchased a used Acura MDX from Bill Kay Buick on Saturday, December 21. It is a clean SUV and the salesman, Tony, couldn't have been nicer. Within 24 hours we heard a growling noise that would occur between 25-35 miles per hour. My husband called the salesman right away. We took the car in to find out it may need a torque converter/transmission work for $3000. What? Currently, my husband is in touch with Bill Kay to see how they will handle this situation. We understand that we purchased a used car, but never expected to have problems within 24 hours that may cost us thousands. Let's see how this dealership handles this situation. Hopefully, they will work with us and get this resolved. read more

We love Steve!!! We came in to get a used car and Steve was so nice and went back to get different keys to look in different cars. We test drove a car and loved it so we bought it the same day and the buying process was super easy. Facility is very nice, clean, and played good music. We got a great deal and will definitely be back when we are thinking of getting a different car! read more
