I went to test drive a vehicle at Star Motor Sales had for sale. When I arrived and seen the car, I absolutely fell in love with that vehicle. Everything was going well until I wanted to test drive it. I was told by sales rep Alex that I had to show them in my mobile banking account app that I had enough money for the car or let them run a credit check before I can test drive the vehicle. I told him that i've test drove a few cars and this was a first, he said this is something that they normally do. At that point I knew that I wasn't going to purchase that car. Me being who I am. I provided the mobile banking app to show him that I could afford the car. I proceeded to test drive and it drove pretty good except for some mix matched tires, which gave it a rugged ride. Once we return, I told him that I'll think about it and let him know. I don't want to think too much into this, but a part of me felt like they felt as if my credit was not good enough or I couldn't afford this car. If that's the case, this is very sad and unprofessional. This was not something that we noticed, until we got home and we're checking out all the functionalities of the truck....and it was our fault that we didn't check it. But that's dirty work. When you're selling a vehicle to a KID her mom is there, at least be a little bit, honest about it. Also we asked them if they checked that all the blinkers, headlights and all that stuff worked, they said they did and we took their word for it. Driver side reverse light is out. Not a big deal because we can fix it but again that coupled with the broken back window slider just makes them look like dirty sales people. Do not take anyone here for a vehicle purchase. I recently bought a used Tesla model S from Alex at Star Motor Sales and he and the others were very professional with me. About a year and a half ago I had bought an older Tesla model S with a small battery pack and not licensed for Supercharging or anything else. I didn't do enough research and didn't realize how bad Tesla service was! I loved the car but wanted more features and Supercharging and Tesla wanted to screw me to get it licensed. I've been watching the ads for a replacement for it and Star Motor had a similar model S that was a year newer, had a bigger battery pack, leather interior, and most importantly Supercharging. And not just Supercharging, lifetime free unlimited Supercharging! This was the car I wish I bought the first time! It is also licensed for several other premium features. In the year and a half I've owned a Tesla I've learned a lot about them so this time I knew what to look for and check. They also gave me a very reasonable trade-in for my bare-bones older S too which reduced the cost about 35%! Most of the low-cost ads I've seen take $4K off the list price assuming you'll get the Federal tax credit, but I don't qualify for it. I was very happy to be told that their listed price was the price and it wouldn't be $4K higher for me! They transfered the car to my Tesla account before I bought it to confirm that the free Supercharging was transferable, and it was. I was more concerned that Tesla would remove the license and they understood this and were extremely helpful confirming that I would get it. We test drove it to the Supercharger and confirmed that it worked under my account BEFORE I bought it too. We jointly called Tesla and they gave them permission to share info on the car with me to confirm the condition of the battery, again before I committed to buying the car! Tesla will not share these details if you don't own the car. I don't know about the other poor reviews here, and I was also cautious and skeptical, but they were super helpful, friendly, and professional with me. The car was nicely detailed inside and out when I left. I was standing behind the car before leaving and noticed the paint on the trunk lid was scratched, and Alex ran off and came back with touch-up paint without me even asking, and touched it up. I am extremely happy with my "replacement" Tesla from Star that got me out from under my very limited first Tesla! For a small amount of money I was able to upgrade my bare-bones S to a slightly newer much nicer loaded S! read more

I bought a mustang eco boost a couple years back. To start, the price of the vehicle was at least 5 thousand dollars more than it was worth. They offered me 6k for my trade and then went on to resale it 3 days later for 14 thousand dollars. They said I can't get new tires even though they were completely bald when I got the car. The car I bought had obviously been in an accident but they swore up and down that it had clean carfax. Then they showed me fake carfax on the car!!!!!!! I later got work done and they found foam rolls and tape holding my headlight,fender and bumper in tact. This place is literally just there to rip you off and sale you fucked up vehicles that they just threw together to sell. I wouldn't even buy a fucking bike from these guys ever again. Purchased a Tesla from them within the last year and I don't regret buying a Tesla, but I do regret not doing more research into the dealer and the vehicle I purchased. They were very quick to come to a deal, however, they would not negotiate the thousand dollar Dealership fee, which was not stated in the initial deal. On the "we owe" I asked them to include a full vehicle detail and a tire rotation. They sent me photos while they were rotating the tires which I thought was weird. When I picked up the vehicle, I noticed that the interior was spot cleaned. It definitely did not undergo a complete detail and there were several, greasy stains within the vehicle that took me several tries to remove. I also asked if they could replace the front passenger seat cover as it was covered with puncture marks. They later contacted me to tell me that they had a leather specialist, taking care of the issues. When I picked up the vehicle, it was already dark and could not see the details but the following morning I noticed just how blotchy the seats looked. I replaced the seat myself. Within a few weeks I noticed one tire loosing air pressure everyday. I made an appointment with my tire guy and unfortunately the tire blew on the way to the shop. Towed it the rest of the way and they informed me that it was plugged THREE TIMES! There was also another tire that was plugged. I bought four new tires. Within a month or so I noticed the paint peeling from the rocker panels. Two months after I took the vehicle to have it vinyl wrapped and the shop called me to let me know that there were several more paint and rock chips all over the vehicle that were colored in with what appeared to be marker. Shame on me for not doing my due diligence. In my defense I was forced to buy a car after being t-boned. The other insurance company was dragging their feet and I was paying out of pocket for my rental. Lesson learned. Be the tortoise not the hare. read more

I bought a Tesla from there a couple of months ago. BAD EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND! To start they gave me a car wash and the interior was filthy, so I ended up having to get the car detailed myself. Next they couldn't transfer the car over to me on the app, so I had to schedule an appointment at Tesla to get control of the vehicle and finally I was shown a CLEAR CARFAX by them, but the car has been in an accident!. They did terrible non documented work on the entire right side of the vehicle, which I found out today getting my 25k maintenance at Tesla where I asked them to take a look at the back door that was squeaking. The front door had been replaced and repainted to match the car and the rear door was stuffed with a filler and sealed causing the window to not open and close properly. I should have looked them up on yelp... lesson learned, BUT STAY AWAY. read more

Part of the deal was i could take my nice rims off as they stated wheels make no difference to the price of the car and i could give them my stock ones back. (I am an mechanic so no biggy) I looked at it and it had a HUGE tear in the intercooler boot... youd think their "mechanic" would have saw this and theyd have changed out a $10 rubber hose. Lol. Anyways did it myself and bam no issues. Few weeks later the engine blew. I managed to argue with mitsubishi and have them cover it under warranty when it shouldnt have which they did anyways for me... well 1 week later it blew again. Something was seriously wrong with this car they sold me as "perfect condition" major engine problem they most likely knew about and didnt disclose. I tried to go back to them and get something out of it... get my old car back reverse the trade make them cover the engine... but they had no interest in helping me. And basicallyshut me out and forced me to leave their facility. I had to sell the car and get a new one and i was upside down about 8grand. Im still paying for the stupid thing 4 years later with my current car. These guys sell junk cars, they are SUPER RUDE, they dont csre about you what so ever and are scam artists. First off there was over 1000 dollars in hidden fees and they low balled the trade of my car by 1000. I was able to catch those to things and saved myself 2k. I asked if the vehicle had been in an accident and the said a very minor one. Unfortunately they lied and I missed it. They had the car wet as if they washed it every time I showed up. That made it hard to see that there was over 7k in hail damage on the vehicle and I'm stuck to foot the bill. Now they transferred us to a Mike in Finance different excuse no app on me had no clue of me etc. He of course said sorry would get all corrected.3 weeks later NOTHING. We called again once again was sick was out was busy again would take care of. DuPage Credit Union did remove theirs also wrote a letter to the facts. DON'T BUY FROM HERE. Employees are dishonest and will say anything to get you to buy. In my case, I was looking for a truck for work, found a 2008 Chevy colorado with about 25k miles, exterior was nice and the engine looked clean. The employee showing us the vehicle said it would be a great work car and that the core of the car was in great shape. I began to have issues with the breaks of the car right away but the biggest problem was that they didn't bother to tell us the chassis of the car was not only rusted to the point of pieces coming off, but also that it was beginning to shift out of place. I called to see if they would help out at all, giving that they had sold us a grossly damaged car, however they said it was already past the warranty and that they could only take a look at it. I wasn't gonna bother bring it in as they have already shown they are only in the business of scamming people. The car is pulling hard to right side and she was told by a mechanic, not from Star Motors, that the two front wheels were bent and the rear tire was very worn on inside tread. She was told that car had 4 new tires. Also, one of the front tires was mounted backwards!! Who does this??!! She was given a quote of 1000.00 for tires and labor. So they get the process started, and give me the details, and they had me spending over $13,000 for a 10 year old car that isn't even in production anymore. Not only that, they've had the car for over 2 months now, I guess they love their cars more than the consumers. Pay no mind to the other 2 reviews that are currently posted on here. This place is a scam if you don't know much about cars. I was 18 at the time I bought an Audi from here, and at that time I didn't have anyone to give me any advice on how to purchase a car and what to look for and what not. All I had on my mind was getting a cool looking car to impress my friends. And yes, I do take the blame myself too for this. I purchased a 2004 Audi 1.8T Quattro in December 2012. A guy named Fil helped me, and Adam was there too for the finalization, since he's the manager. After a couple of days, a friend rolled down the passenger window and it wouldn't go back up. So I took the car back and they fixed it for free, however, they had me wait almost 3 hours for it. Also, the fuel gauge had errors. It never told me the accurate level, it just bounced back and forth, so I couldn't really tell when I needed to fill up. I told them this and took the car to them and Fil said their mechanic ran fuel pressure tests and that car is pumping the proper amount. False. After a couple of weeks, I noticed the car was eating up a lot of gas. A LOT. I would get about 11-12 MPG in city, and around 15 MPG if I rode on highways only. I knew german luxury cars were gas hogs, but this wasn't right. After many trips back and forth, I gave up since I live in Chicago and the trip to Downers Grove is quite long. And everytime I went, they just gave me some BS answers. Here's a list of problems I came to notice in the next few months: -Bad tires, all 4 of them. I got all 4 brand new. I spent $600 -Wheels weren't balanced, and the alignment was off. This isn't a big issue, but when you purchase a car from a dealership, it should come with a fresh oil change, alignments, proper tire pressure, balanced wheels, etc. When I called and told them that the alignment was off, even they said that they align every vehicle, which was a lie I guess. -Heater core was bad, I was freezing in my car. Got it fixed for $300 -Head gasket went bad, then the head got a crack in it. I spent $2000 to fix it and after I got a new head, I noticed my car was eating up less gas, but still not back to normal and fuel gauge still bouncing around. So at this point, I didn't know what was eating up gas and causing the fuel gauge error because I had different mechanics try to diagnose and they all said it's not the fuel pump, and they really couldn't figure out the issue. -After I fixed the head, a couple months later, my check engine light came on for the catalytic converter. It's been going off and on for a few months now and I haven't fixed it yet, since a new catalytic converter is pricey and I guess my car runs okay for the time being taking me from point A to point B. However, after I researched the symptoms of a bad catalytic converter, I found that one of them is bad gas mileage. Perhaps this is what's causing my car to eat up gas. I'm not sure if I'll fix the converter or just sell the car. -Also, they only had one copy of the key and I asked them if they can get me another. They said yes, but of course not for free. They explained to me that if I tried to buy a key on my own it would be expensive, but they can just get a key for me at a dealer price and I can just pay their end. I called them a few times asking about the key and they said it's coming and they'll let me know. They never did. Till this day, I still only have one key. It's not a big problem, but I just have to be careful and not lock it in the car or lose it. I didn't know I was ripped off until about a month later when I started to discover all these problems, but it was too late and I couldn't return the car. Their lot looks very good, since they have mostly luxury cars, and when you first go there you feel amazed looking at all the BMWs, Audis, Lexus's, Infinitis, etc. And they were very nice in person, being very talkative, very friendly, etc. And I guess I let it fool me. After I had bought the car, when I would call them, they were just bitter. So don't let all the pretty cars, and friendly gestures at the dealership fool you. Your focus should be one thing and one thing only. A good car at a fair price. Also, another thing I'd like to point out is that don't always trust the CarFax. I had checked the CarFax of my car before I purchased it and it was clean. Not everything gets reported to CarFax. So even if the CarFax says it's clean, it just means that nothing was reported. So again, be very careful. All in all, unless you know about cars, stay away from this place. And even if you do, I would highly recommend that before you purchase a car here, you get it checked by a mechanic you trust. And for some reason you find yourself buying a car here, before you do purchase it, check everything. I mean literally everything. Check if all the windows work, if the radio works, if the trunk opens, if the moon roof opens and closes properly, etc etc. AGAIN, STAY AWAY read more

Bought a car from them about six months ago. Here's the deal. 1) Essentially every five-star review of this dealership is a lie, done by the dealership itself. It just is. It's easy to do this, and they've done it to bring their average up. You can tell because of the consistent verbiage, style, and message of all the five star reviews. Also, everything's spelled right. There are marketing companies that specialize in this sort of thing. 2) Excluding the five-star reviews, the average rating for this dealership is a 1. This is the correct rating. 3) You can buy a car from this dealership and be happy, if you do the following: a) Don't buy a car without a thorough inspection by a trusted mechanic, someone good and suspicious. b) Assume everything said by the dealership about the car, the deal, the warranty - EVERYTHING - is a lie. Of course, it's probably not ALL lies... but that's a good enough approximation. c) Understand that no inspection of any kind has been done on the car. The car may be missing parts. Check for the spare wheel, jack, tire iron, lug nut key. Check that all under-body panels that should be there, are there. Check that every single feature works. Tire pressure sensors, backup camera, radio (AM, FM, bluetooth, HD radio, satellite - if the car's supposed to have it, check it). The wheels may not be original, the tires may not be acceptable, the car may fail emissions as soon as the computer gets around to doing the next test. d) Understand that you will have no recourse with the dealership. They will fix nothing, they will take responsibility for nothing. Once you walk out the door, your money is theirs and the car is yours and good luck. Basically, at Star Motors, you're in a different culture. It's a culture where the sale is everything, and integrity is nothing. I promise, I know this first-hand. Buyer beware!!!!!! I purchased a bmw from this horrible place in April. I didn't even have it one week and it had to be towed in to them. Then, it had to be towed in once again, shortly after. Now, I obviously didn't get anywhere, with these lying, cheating, phony you know whats! I'm a lady, so I won't use the fowl language to describe everyone and everything about these people! My car has been to the bmw service dept. several times and has been there now for two weeks once again. Star lied about so many things. How disgraceful! How can a place like this still be in business! If you had a good experience, it had to be a fluke! Every time they gave me a loaner, the times it was towed back into Star Motors, they would call me and ask if I could drive all the way back there, because someone was interested in that car, and they would give me another loaner. Something was wrong with every car they gave me! I wish someone could give me some advice as to any recourse I might have.
