We visited this dealership to test drive a used vehicle that was advertised on Cars.com. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the test drive went well. We genuinely liked the car and told them we were interested in purchasing it if the terms were fair. When pricing was discussed, we were quoted a purchase price higher than the price listed on Cars.com. In addition, the trade-in offer was significantly lower than the Kelley Blue Book value, and a mandatory $3,200 protection package was added to the deal. We explained that we would consider moving forward if the $3,200 add-on could be removed. While the trade-in value was slightly improved, the dealership stated that the protection package could not be removed and did not match the original Cars.com price. Ultimately, we decided to walk away. While we were disappointed, as we expected to purchase the vehicle we test drove, we were not comfortable paying $3,200 more than anticipated. read more

Came here to look at a Jeep that I found online. Bill Kay has several dealerships in the suburbs. I've never been to one before, so this was a fresh experience and review. We parked by the Jeep in the lot, and it looked well enough to test drive. The sales guy, Paul, greeted us, and I agreed to come inside to talk test driving. Several employees and managers are smokers. They were outside, but I'd recommend not hanging outside smoking in front of customers. Remember, first impressions can be everything. Paul was friendly and not pushy. I thought the negotiations went smoothly. The dealership does charge $2,xxx on top of the vehicle price for "reconditioning." I didn't really hassle on that knowing markets tough, and dealers do spend money prepping their cars. That seemed high, though, for what they did to it. The finance phase of the purchase was fine. They seemed a little inexperienced because they kept throwing "well, our customers typically get this add-on" and some scare tactics like "you never know if you'll need repairs that can get really expensive." Once you calculate the cost of the warranties (because they only show you monthly payments), the warranty is well over $5,000. I'll pass. Overall, it was a quick 2-3 hours. That's relatively short from my experience. Like I said, Paul was very nice. I just don't recommend the smoking around customers. 4/5 stars. read more

On March 11, 2025 I had a 9:30am appointment with someone named Jason per an email sent by Ryan Baker. I arrived early since I worked a midnight shift the prior night and came straight from work. A guy named Colin Lewin unlocked the doors at 9:00am. He said Jason wasn't there that day and he could help me. I was interested in a 2024 Corvette (vin 1G1YB2D44R5130488) that was advertised at a $9,425.00 discount. It was also advertised as having potential further discounts for a Costco membership and a Camaro loyalty discount for qualified buyers. Colin informed me that I did not qualify for the $3,000 Costco discount because my membership was the Gold Club membership and not the Executive membership. I told him I bought a 2 door CTS-V several years prior and asked if that would qualify me to the Camaro Loyalty discount. He said that unfortunately anyone wanting that discount had to have the specific vehicle currently registered in their name. I also told Colin I worked for a GM supplier and had a discount for that as well. Colin completely ignored the GM Supplier discount even though I had my work ID and was able to provide remittance advice statements for recent pay periods. I asked to see the deal sheet and I declined the offer for a test drive so he would know I was a serious potential customer and not just somebody looking to joyride a car. During the conversation Colin must've sensed that I was slipping off the hook so he brought over the finance guy named Tony. Any time a salesman brings in another salesman is a red flag. You get two salesman ganging up on you and you cannot tie a particular lie to a specific individual and they have deniablity that any lie was ever told. Tony produced a vague and incomplete deal sheet that included a $3,989.00 upcharge for a paint and upholstery protection package, a list price that was $3,500 higher than what was advertised, and the deal sheet did not included the total price for the vehicle. It also included an estimated monthly payment based on how much I was willing to put down. So Tony had all the information available for full disclosure- principal, rate, and time. But he chose not to disclose it. Omission and deceit are key components of his sales strategy. So now Tony is pressing me to see how much he can get out of me for a down payment that day. Tony is a smart guy. He isn't just the finance guy. He is the closer. He does this every day and he's a skillful negotiator who can steer the conversation into a verbal commitment with even the worst of deals. He isn't your friend. He isn't looking out for your best interests. He is a shark and there is blood in the water. People like Tony are best avoided in any situation; especially when buying a car. At the time GM was offering financing at 6.39% for buyers who qualified on this particular vehicle. There are other vehicles that offer better financing but not this one. Nobody buys a Corvette because it makes financial sense. I knew I qualified. My credit score and payment history are flawless. I don't get turned down by potential creditors. I turn them down. My credit is bulletproof like gold plated titanium. Tony informed me that I was approved "within a few tenths of 6.39%." Which is odd because I never allowed him to run my credit and he didn't run it. So he must've used his powers of clairvoyance to get me approved. Needless to say, I did not buy that car. I told them I was going to go check on another car and I'd almost certainly be back the next day or that week to sign the dotted line on the horrible deal they offered me. I knew I was never coming back but what is one more lie right? But Tony and Colin sold a car that day. It just wasn't their car. I went about 20 minutes down the road and spoke to another salesperson at another dealership. I bought a 2024 Corvette 2LT with the z51 performance package. It is virtually identical to the Corvette at Bill Kay except it is black exterior and black interior. The guys down the road at Webb Chevrolet were a pleasure to deal with and did not waste my time. They were upfront and fully transparent at all stages of the deal. Their advertisements were sincere and truthful and not the bait and switch garbage you will find at Bill Kay. I encourage anyone who is serious about buying a car to avoid Bill Kay like the bubonic plague. read more

FALSE ADVERTISING!! I found a pre-owned car online, around $26K, I called and put $500 down to hold. Drove 40 miles to purchase and the price jumped to $30K with the "conditioning fee" for a car with only 13K miles. Then, the salesman ROGER said I might get $500 for my trade without seeing it. I came and test drove a 24 gmc terrain. During the test drive pola told me I had to pay a certification fee that is not included in the price online I usually buy extended warranties so it didn't bother me that much anyway I Liked it so I wanted to see what it really looked like on paper. Pola looked over my paid off 2021 corolla and said it wasn't worth much of anything (keeping in mind carmax offered a verified 12,600 which I ended up really getting later) I still went inside, he asked what my credit was when I mentioned 657 he told me I was a super subprime buyer and I need to look for a 2009-2015 and pray. I was already pre approved at carmax for his same truck a year older, a different color and 10k more miles and a single digit APR but as an experienced buyer with carmax I knew I didn't need to listen to his bullshit anymore snatched my keys and left. He also yelled at me on my way out for wasting his time. I was looking at a 2023 Chevy bolt. They wanted to charge me $2700 for their GM certified rating. I negotiate that down to zero. When I brought the car home I noticed a ding in the windshield. So much for their certification. That's when the problems started. The salesman would not return my phone calls. A truly horrid experience. Blake from service was so rude to me and told me he shouldn't even be talking to me because I called instead of my husband (despite me being the person to initially call to schedule the appointment). Then Booe, the director of service, was also rude and refused to handle my issue. I had to call General Motors in an attempt to get things rectified. Booe finally did the right thing but he made the process AWFUL. We ended up paying for a tow unnecessarily after Chevy LIED about the service they could offer. They tried to force us to pay a $200 diagnostic fee that they verbally promised would be waived if we had our vehicle towed to them and the issue was what we called about. There was an extended policy available through Chevy however, the Chevy service team recanted and argued with me nonstop about coverage. After the tow and diagnostic we were told that our vehicle was not under the policy. General Motors told us that Chevy should have told us that prior to the tow and diagnostic but since they're independently owned and operated there was nothing they could do. We ended up paying for a second tow to get our vehicle to someone transparent about the process. These people were incredibly cruel, condescending and either unintelligent or liars. My advice is to get any agreements from them IN WRITING! Be careful when buying a certified used car from Bill Kay Chevrolet. I saw a 2024 Corvette with a price listed that was shown as a great deal. When I go to close the deal, they add over $3K to the price to cover the certification. Nowhere in the listing does it state the additional fee. Even when doing the financing calculation, the fee doesn't show up, but title, licensing and taxes shows up. They lower the price to get you into the showroom. The appointment was easy to get, to fit my schedule. The part I needed, a battery, was in stock. My appointment was 7am on a Monday. It's started on time which is shocking for anyone who sets up Monday morning appointments. When I checked in via Yelp, there was a 10% coupon for the services and product I was purchasing. The waiting area was comfortable and they text me the status so I had easy access to "how are we doing?" The invoice was exactly what I was quoted over the phone, less the coupon. Well I get a text today from my sales rep letting me know that the Used Car Director(whatever that is) apparently sold the vehicle from under me. Do not go to Bill Kay in Lisle. They play dirty car salesman games and if you're unaware what they are doing, they will rip you off. I went there to buy a certified used car for my daughter. Dealer Certified basically means they have done a 176 point inspection on it and thus they may provide an additional warranty period. Then when we sit down to do the paperwork the first thing the salesman tries to charge me $2,500 because the car is certified... which is ridiculous. When a car is advertised as "Certified" the price in the listing includes the certification. Everything in the listing is included in the price of the car, otherwise it's false advertising. The General Manager tried to smooth things over, but by then it was too late, we left. This is exactly why people dread the car buying experience. They twist things around and if you don't know any better they will rip you off. The listed price of the car, plus title, tax, and transfer, is all you should ever pay for unless you voluntarily request something else (GAPP, warranty, The Protector) during the course of financing. They said that because we were not trading in a vehicle they have to increase the price by 10% above MSRP. This was absurd and I was suddenly treated like they are the only game in town like I have no other choices but to just simply hand over my wallet and pay the penalty for not trading in a vehicle. I received a post card from Bill Kay Chevrolet stating my front passengers side Takata airbag had a recall on it and needed to be replaced in my 2008 Chevy Tahoe LT. After a lengthy mechanics strike, they finally got me in and the replacement was made on September 2nd.  Went in to pick the truck up and as I'm pulling on the road turned the ac on which brought on a terrible noise from the blower motor. So knowing the mechanic was installing the airbag directly over the top of the blower motor thought at the very least they would take it apart and look at it. I've owned Tahoes for over 20 years so know them pretty well but this mechanic first told me that he had only removed 4 screws, installed the new airbag and then put the screws back in. He then first tried to tell me it was my resistor and then said my blower motor had magically come loose (which it had not). I was so ticked over his BS excuses that I walked off telling him and his boss that I would take care of it myself. Opening the covers and removing the blower motor is not something the average person could or would do and takes some time. Once I got it off, low and behold a screw was inside my blower motor (see picture). I'm honestly not sure if all the screws are holding my airbag in or not but I'm certainly not having anymore work done here as these mechanics do not want to take responsibility for their mistakes and would have charged me to fix his error. Instead of striking, they need to be more concerned with their clients needs and stop the blame shifting as most would have paid hundreds of dollars to have them repair an error they committed or in this case cost me a couple hours of my life that I'll never get back. Their carelessness certainly cost them a customer both for mechanical work and any new vehicles I'll be purchasing in the future. read more

I would strongly recommend avoiding doing business with them, as the experience that I had with Billy Kay Chevy cannot be described as anything other than a disappointment. We had worked with Xavier to order a new Equinox LS. When we ordered the car, he had advised us that the order might not be fulfilled until the next model year started being produced. Before both he and I signed a "purchase agreement" for the car, I had asked if the price listed on the agreement was the price I would pay when the car was delivered. He assured me that it would be. Fast forward over 15 weeks when the car was finally able to be picked up, and this "purchase agreement" was not honored. Xavier had backed out of the appointment I had made with him 10 minutes before the start of the meeting, forcing me to work with a salesman I had no interaction with before - Jose. During our conversation with Jose, I was pressured to sign paperwork immediately. I noticed that the price of the car on the paperwork in front of me was higher than the purchase agreement that Xavier and I had signed. Jose told me that the purchase agreement was not actually, in fact, a purchase agreement as labeled, but merely an 'order agreement'. When I brought this up, Jose told me that I can either accept that price or walk away from the car, which he said would let him sell the car to someone else for "three or four thousand above MSRP". He also informed me that he was essentially doing us a favor ever ordering a lowly Equinox LS in the first place, as they don't want to use one of their few allotments on a car like that. I walked away from signing anything that day as the car had still not been delivered. The next day when the car was delivered, Xavier texted me that the car had arrived and asked, and I quote, "are we selling it to someone else or do you still want it", which I found incredibly unprofessional coming from someone who had not been willing to meet with me the previous day. I ultimately bought the car because I would have had to wait another 15 weeks to get a car ordered from another dealership, which is undoubtedly something the sales team knew through their dishonest and borderline predatory business dealings. Through my dealings with the sales team, they demonstrated a failure to communicate or talk straight with me. The initial time estimate for the delivery of the car was 8-10 weeks. At the 10-week mark of waiting, I called Xavier for an update on the delivery time of the vehicle. He told me that it would be "on the longer side of 10 weeks", seemingly unwilling to admit that his initial delivery estimate was way off. I could not recommend dealing with this sales team, and absolutely refuse to do any further business with them. read more

Stay away unless you like throwing away your money. I went there to look at a truck and as I was looking it over I noticed that the tail light was cracked but figured I would bring it up later when negotiating a price, after the test drive I opened the hood to look at the engine and the hood would not latch when closing. We go in to discuss the price and the salesman comes back with the same price saying that is their internet price, along with an additional fee of $2495 which he called a reconditioning fee which covers their labor for detailing and replacing the tires along with everything else to get the truck ready to sell. At this point I asked him what did they do to recondition the truck when there was a cracked tail light as well as the hood wouldn't latch. At this point I told him I was done and would go elsewhere. This non negotiating and add on fees are totally BS and everyone should avoid these dealers until they realize they are selling used cars that they have already established their price when they purchased the car. read more

Buyer be aware, they charge a "lot Fee" -(whatever that means) above the advertised price, we were told they do that with all cars. Here is the problem, Roger the salesperson, never mentioned this and would not have had I not questioned the sales price on the contract was $2000 more than the advertised internet price. He quicky answered oh that is our lot fee, we charge it on all our vehicles, brushed it off as no big deal. That really angered so we walked out -that was an integrity issue -not being upfront and truthful with the customer. No where is this fee mentioned in all our conversations with the sales person, the sales manager -they are not upfront with this!!! The only reason they get 2 stars is because of Joe in finance, when he heard we walked , he called us the next day , offered his apology and said he would waive the fee and could we talk a deal on the vehicle, he saved the sale and reputation of Bill Kay. I would not deal with Roger again , so Joe completed the sale with us. My advice, if you are going to buy from Bill Kay is to ask about the "lot fee" before any discussion on price, and refuse to pay it . read more

I took in our work truck on a Tuesday due to driver side running lights being out. They were hesitant because it has after market safety flashers installed. I very clearly told Blake that if they started digging around and it was something that they were not comfortable or familiar with, that they should close it back up and give me a call, and i would take it to someone who specializes in this type of work, and they could charge me for an hours labor. He called me the next day, Wednesday, telling me that yes, it did seem to be some of the aftermarket wiring that was causing the issue. I advised him i would not be able to pick up the truck the following day, but would be in on Friday to pick up the truck. The next day, Thursday, He calls me, stating that they went back in and removed the module they believe was causing the issue, and wired the truck back to factory wiring, which is NOT what we had discussed at all. When i went to pick up the truck, i was very upset, because now i have to pay someone to undo what they had done, and reinstall the module, which would have been a very quick process had they not gone back in digging around. He then charged me for multiple hours of labor, and would not revise, even though they were charging me for work I SPECIFICALLY ASKED THEM NOT TO DO! I am extremely unhappy with this service department of Bill Kay, and I will not buy, nor bring any of my fleet trucks here ever again. read more

When I contacted the dealer, they gave they typical excuses, and made reference to a 15 year old frame off restoration. The 15 yr old restoration was never mentioned in their adds, which I still have copies of. In my professional auto experience, as a certified master mechanic for over 32 years, this was never done to this car. The service department is not to be trusted. They always have service coupons, this time was for $99 brakes, but of course there are always other costs not mentioned on the coupon. Another time was for a windshield wiper blade coupon. After installation, I was informed the ones I got were more expensive and not covered on the coupon. Why on earth would they put the wrong ones on you ask? I have to believe to make more money and hope I would ignore it (I did not and demanded putting the sale wipers on or changing my cost- they chose the later). It would be wonderful to have a total coupon cost be more accurate, or the purchase of gods be accurate, but it was not meant to be for me on multiple occasions. Beyond that nuisance, last week I had a major issue of being told I needed new front brakes, and of course the rotors couldn't be resurfaced because they were "warped" after 50,000 miles. I took the car for a second opinion elsewhere. It turns out the rotors are not warped, and the break pads still have 40% of life remaining on them. This would have cost me hundreds of dollars for no reason other than for Bill Kay to make hundreds of dollars off of me. I should have known better than to trust Bill Kay when I purchased the car. I opted for an extended warranty in which they charged thousands of dollars more because they entered warranty information for a different make and model that wasn't mine. I believe in second chances, and the good of others. I do not believe Bill Kay should earn either of those thoughts from future customers. I went back to the dealership hoping to negotiate the price of the vehicle after looking at a few others and that ended up taking close to 3.5 hours. I know they were understaffed on salesmen and Paul was trying to manage multiple potential buyers at once, so I don't fault him. But it was frustrating to just sit and wait around. I didn't understand why others on the sales floor weren't pitching in to help. Paul advocated on my behalf to negotiate the price and value of my trade in so I could buy the car. I really wish the financing part was made more clear to buyers. There needs to be some type of comprehensive sheet that outlines the difference financing options. We left to get cashier's checks feeling really confused with what we needed to bring back to the dealer. Closing on the vehicle once we had the cashier's checks took about another 2.5 hours. It just felt like everything took a long time. I live about an hour and a half away; I think if you live closer to Lisle/Naperville, it would be easier because you could run back and forth without having to commit 4-5 hours. Overall, the people were nice and I appreciate that they worked with me on the price. It just took a long time to get the paperwork done. These guys saved me over $10k!!! I had been dealing with another dealership, Drive Time, for 2 weeks but only the night before learned that my interest rate would be 23.7% and monthly payments would be $380 on a car that was already marked up by $1500. I work near Bill Kay but knew that a traditional dealership wouldn't finance me. However, the terrible terms of the Drive Time offer made me desperate for another option. I called ahead to ask if I should bother coming in to discuss financing a vehicle since I have challenged credit. I was kindly welcomed to come in by Joanne who told me challenged credit is no deal breaker at Bill Kay. She even asked what time I'd be there and gave me the name of a salesperson to ask for. I was anxious to get what I knew would be an embarrassing disappointment over with so I skipped my other plans and arrived 1.5 hours early. I waited about 5 minutes for Jennifer to come to her desk after being paged. She was very pleasant and to my surprise knew of the details I'd shared on the phone once I introduced myself. She was actually expecting me at the later time I'd set up. And even though it wasn't her fault that I was early, she apologized for the delay. Jennifer's dad, John, happens to be on the finance team so she introduced us right away. We chatted briefly about my challenged credit and in detail about my Drive Time offer/experience, but mostly about how to use the financing of a vehicle as a way to rebuild my credit. By the end of my talk with John, I was very encouraged to know the steps people who were previously in my shoes had taken before they returned for consecutive auto purchases with much improved credit. I felt a bit more hopeful by then. I filled out a short loan application and let Jennifer know that I had $500 for a down payment. She didn't laugh or kick me out and her level of enthusiasm didn't change. After that, I test drove 3 cars, two of which I really liked. Then came the unexpected and awesome twist: The part I dreaded will forever be my favorite. I was approved by a top auto finance company at a 10.2% interest rate with payments of $280/mo for a car priced within fair market value. A 3 yr/36,000 mi bumper to bumper warranty was part of the deal. And a crazy bonus is the free car washes Bill Kay gives its customers every Saturday morning. I felt like I'd won the lottery! As if these people hadn't already blown me away, their excellent service didn't end there. I couldn't decide which car I preferred so I was told to drive my top choice of the two for a few days and bring it back if I decided on the other. I fell in love with the car I drove away in and kept it. But Jennifer called me on the day I was to make my decision to be sure I wasn't coming back for the other car before they returned it to inventory. They even offered to keep the car I drove to the dealership in locked in their garage overnight since I came alone. The car buying experience can't get any better than this! John told me that his nickname is 'The Credit Wizard' during our first conversation. I thought he was kidding, but it's true. He didn't submit my information a million lenders and further decrease my credit score (I've since checked my credit report inquiry history). He knew just where to go because he knows his stuff. And the car I chose was the 1/3 that Jennifer selected for me to test drive. She knows her stuff, too. From now on, all my cars will be from Bill Kay Chevrolet! read more

This place is a complete joke. I called to inquire about a convertible they had listed on their site on a Wednesday evening, the guy I spoke to named Ryan confirmed the car was still available. I told him I would be in the following day. At about 1:30 pm Ryan called me to confirm our appointment, I was already on my way and arrived less than a half hour later. Once I arrived Ryan pawned me off on some other clueless sales guy, I was then told the car was not available and actually sold Tuesday, the day before I called but Ryan confirmed the car was still avaialble??? I ended up leaving the office early and taking a half day off to go buy that car only to waste time driving out to Downers Grove for no reason at all. Then the sales guys were all like "oh well it's sold and the customer is picking it up Saturday if theirs a problem with that deal we will call you back"....no, don't bother, I would not buy a quart of oil from you morons. Look at some of my other reviews, I buy a lot of vehicles and this place is one of the worst and most unprofessional dealerships I have ever dealt with.
