My husband and I inquired about a Subaru in October 2020. I spoke with Bill who told me I could go to the website for financing and it would be a soft inquiry and that nothing would show up on our credit reports. At the time Bill Rapp Subaru only had older WRXs in colors that we didn't want. Credco showed up on my husband's report as a hard inquiry. We bought a Subaru from a different dealership with financing through Subaru Financial but Empowered Federal Credit Union still showed up on mine and my husband's report as a hard inquiry from Bill Rapp which we also didn't approve of. I called Empowered and spoke to someone who was clueless and couldn't find me in their system for anything. I spoke to Experian and was told they couldn't dispute those hard inquires on their end. I called CredCo who said I needed to speak to someone at Bill Rapp to get this all sorted out and off our reports. I love my Subaru. So I take care of her (she's a swell lady). Ol' girl needed an oil change. Typically, I save visits to the dealer for the mandatory services, since service there tends to be more expensive than smaller local shops. But, after doing some comparison shopping in my work neighborhood, I discovered that an oil change and multi-point inspection was plenty affordable at Bill Rapp Subaru. They have special "stop-by" appointments that you can schedule, ensuring that you'll get in and out quickly. When I took my Subaru to the dealer, they got me right in. I was in and out in a matter of 40 minutes. They had a comfortable waiting room with cozy chairs. On check out, they took me through the inspection and didn't try to upsell me on anything (like those cheap brand name service places seem to always do). I used the Bill Rapp Subaru dealership for the first time yesterday, since moving to the area from out of state. Making a reservation for service was easy. When I arrived for the service appointment, the Customer Service Representative, Adam, checked me in. He was both very helpful and very quick. Within minutes of arriving at the dealership, I was pulling my Forester in to be serviced. Adam advised me of the cost of the service up front, and he also checked to see if there were any outstanding recalls on my model year of the car. The waiting room was very comfortable. They had various new magazines on tables by the chairs for reading, or if you wanted to instead, they had a wall sized screen to watch television. There was also a snack bar nook on the far side of the room, for those who felt like having something to eat or drink, while waiting. I was impressed by the short waiting time for the 30K mile service. I was out in less than an hour, which was very much quicker than I had expected. Again Adam had the dealer's report on the servicing to hand me, while I paid my bill, and I was paid and out the door in a few minutes. The dealership also emailed me a copy of my bill that same day. Overall I would have to say, the service was very, very good on all counts. The customer service staff were helpful, both in making the reservation for service, and for taking care of you once you were there. The waiting room was nice, and even nicer was that there wasn't much waiting. I don't know if my experience was typical, and this is the first time I was there, but based on what I saw and experienced, I would recommend the Bill Rapp Subaru dealership for having your Subaru serviced. read more

Bought our car here 2 years ago so it's under warranty. Absolutely wonderful experience buying the car. Jesse was our salesman and was kind, considerate and I truly feel he gave us a decent deal. The service department however has given us many difficulties. The communication has been terrible between us and the service department. I'd say it was my fault but I seldom have this problem with other companies. Also the waiting times are ridiculous. Over 2 hour wait time for an oil change WITH an appointment. I'm sitting here waiting again for a repair, this time with an appointment that they said I didn't make. We are leaving the state soon and are looking forward to dealing with another company. NEVER bring your car to get serviced at Bill Rapp Subaru on Burnet. Save yourself some time & money and bring it to Walt's automotive down the road they have great, honest people there and had my car engine in and running in 2 days. Rich in their service department at Bill Rapp is totally incompetent and told me they had an engine, then they didn't, then they did, but it was way overpriced 5300 for a 2013 engine (car isn't even worth that). Forget about them helping you out with any warranty company either. They had my car for over 2.5 months and still could not find an engine to put in it that was reasonably priced. Their prices are ridiculous and I got screwed around for months trying to get an engine put in by them. I searched for myself and found one within an hour. Subaru dealership could not find a used engine for a Subaru, but I could?? They are awful to deal with and the service department has no clue what they are doing... read more

I consistently find Bill Rapp Subaru's service staff to be polite, courteous and efficient in handling customers. I also had a very positive experience with buying my car there 3 years back via Dan - who is a good person with good interpersonal communication skills and never pushes too much. I appreciate their waiting area as well - where even during the pandemic, thankfully, there was one high table left for those of us who have to work and want the ability to have our backs turned to the TV and work on our laptops. I purchased my Subaru from Romano less than 2 years ago, and was disappointed to find that once the sale was over, the customer support became non-existent. A few days ago, I ran into an issue with the brake sensor which in turn activated the safety system and wouldn't let me drive the car. I had my vehicle towed to Bill Rapp, because I did not want to do any more business with Romano. I couldn't be happier with the decision. I spoke with Marissa when I called in the morning to explain the issue with the car and discuss having it checked by the service techs. Despite not having bought the car at Bill Rapp, the service department bent over backwards to accommodate me inbetween their regularly scheduled appointments for the day. I called in the afternoon the same day to get an update, and instead of being told through the grapevine what the issue was with my car, they transferred me directly to Zach, the service tech who "diagnosed" the problem and gave me my estimate for services, as well as giving me detailed info about the problem with the car. I was pleasantly surprised at the price, and thrilled that my car would be fixed before I would even leave work that day. I was able to pick my car up that evening after leaving work. Bill Rapp Subaru will continue to have my business for any of my car's issues. I can't thank them enough for being so kind and helpful; a little kindness goes a long way. read more

I was in the hunt for a Subaru Impreza and while I ultimately didn't get a Rapp, I did interact a lot with their salesmen. Unlike the folks over as Romano, all of them were incredibly knowledgeable about their entire inventory and were able to tell me every detail about previous owners, potential defects, service history, etc. They made you really feel like they knew their Subarus. Plus, it was great that they weren't pushy at all but they were very quick to respond whenever you had questions. Let me start by saying if I could give zero stars I would. I bought my car brand new from them in 2019 it's a 2018 Subaru Forester. I love the car but HATE BILL RAPP FOR THE AMOUNT OF CRAP THEY PUT US THROUGH. But crap I mean how they tried to tell me my car wouldn't pass inspection with a nail that they "allegedly" found in my tire but couldn't tell me where they found it. When I brought up the NYS inspection guild lines and showed them where it states that i will pass inspection with a patch? I believe it was 2 years so bare with me. The technician came back and told me he was mistaken and that it actually would pass, before they wanted me to buy all new tires for it to pass. Absolutely profit hungry. Secondly for some reason after "general maintenance" sediment ended up in my a/c system which is a closed system weird right?. So we had them fix it under warranty. TWO MORE TIMES!!! Because the technician kept messing it up. He came out and TOLD ME HE WAS SORRY HE KEPT MESSING UP! Each time it cost us money thank GOD we got the warranty! So each time we had to pay a deductible! We ended up calling Subaru of America because each time we tried to speak to a manager they either went home for the day and were going to call us back which they NEVER DID! Or they were allegedly on vacation. But still a call back would have been nice! Subaru of America was very upset that we had to deal with this amount of BS and reimburse us one of the deductibles. And after all of that BS we ended up going to Ramono Subaru where we had the problem fixed the first time and have had NO COMPLAINTS SINCE. I wouldn't trust bill Rapp to replace a light bulb the are completely INCOMPETENT! Since leasing a Suburu Impreza in 2015 I have always highly recommended Bill Rapp Suburu and had always planned to go back for my next vehicle. This past May I came back to return my lease and chose to finance a used 2015 Forester. My experience with the sale seemed to go well just as before and felt that I again had a fantastic experience. However, a week later the salesman called me back and asked me to come in to re-sign my paperwork as they had put a previous address on my paperwork during the sale. Mind you, I told them my new address the day they financed me and then I pointed it out the next day as I was signing the paperwork and noticed my address was incorrect on all of the forms. The salesman hand wrote the correct address on one of the forms and said it would be fine. I was a bit annoyed at the inconvenience of having to come back in as it's a bit of a drive for me, but I did it with no complaint. Now, during the sale part of the "deal" that was made was that they would refund me back $150 which was half of the fee for Bill Rapp to take back my leased vehicle. I was also told that I would receive this check in the mail in 7-10 business days. This was on 5/12/18. As of today 7/1/18 I have not yet received this check. I have called my salesman several times about this and he just tells me that he is going to call the business office and then I don't hear anything else. The last time I spoke to him I mentioned that maybe the check was sent to the wrong address since there was some confusion during the sale. He assured me that that was not the case. I am extremely frustrated over this and am sad to say that I'll be hesitant to do business with them again. Update: I increased my rating from 2 to 3 stars after the prompt response and resolution of my problem that occurred after I posted my review here on yelp. Brian Rapp immediately checked into my problem and saw that my check got cut and sent out. However, it was sent out much later than promised and as I suspected, it was sent to the incorrect address. I brought this to Brian's attention and he was quick to have the old check voided and a new one sent. I received my check within a couple of days. don't Buy a car from them they told me they fixed my blind spot monitor system but then I kept having problems with it I brought it back they tried to say there was damage to the side of the vehicle and told me to go to Mazda went to them to find out Bill Ralph didn't fix it correctly and the warranty wouldn't cover it then a few month later the car started to not work due to this problem the car was shutting down all these lights where coming on.Mazda fixed it for me at the cost of 3000 dollars when it was suppose to be fixed when I first bought the car and when I went Bill Ralph and they tried to pass the blame to everyone els when they should of fixed this problem when I first bought the car this problem started a week into having the car they said they fixed it and replaced the part but only replaced one and Mazda told me they are pairs they need to be replace together to work correctly read more

I recently leased my 2nd Outback from Bill Rapp Subaru in January 2018. In between my two Subaru vehicles I had leased another brand car from the Bill Rapp Superstore. They don't sell that brand anymore so at the end of the lease I returned it to a different dealer and worked with Julie Moore at Bill Rapp to secure a new 2018 Outback Limited. Julie is a great person to work with when it comes to cars. She knows her stuff, is pleasant, fair, and seems to want whats best for you. I highly recommend her to anyone in the market for a new car. (I have leased 3 cars from her.) She is very approachable and always keeps in contact whether it is to see how you like your new car or to just say hi and see how the family is doing. Look her up, you won't be disappointed. As far as the dealership goes, they have a great up-to-date website with listings and available cars. They work to get you a fair price and don't make you feel like you have been taken advantage of. Their location is really convenient, the showroom is modern with many amenities. They even have snacks and beverages for their customers. They treat you like you are important. Now as far as the service department goes, I really haven't had to have them do anything other than regular maintenance (i.e., oil changes and tire rotations). Prices seem fair and the service personnel are friendly and ready to help and get you on your way. Don't forget you have a comfortable waiting room while you wait. At first, my husband and I were thrilled with our experience at Bill Rapp Subaru. However, this quickly went down hill when we went to pick up the car we had planned to purchase. We live about an 1hr and 30min away from the dealership. On the agreed upon pick up date, when we were 15 minutes away, I called the salesman with a question about the title of my trade in. At this time, we were informed that the car we had taken a loan out for, insured, and were basically at the dealership to pick up- was no longer available due to unforeseen computer issues. Previous to finding this out, the car spent a good week in their shop getting prepared for us- we were in frequent contact with the salesman during this period and were consistently reassured that the car was as good as new and ready for pick up. Due to this experience, we were told that the dealership would do their best to match the price of a similar vehicle they had on lot. After a couple of days of reassurance that this would happen, they refused to match our price or offer any other costumer service. This dealership is not the most convenient for me to be honest, there is another closer to me that I usually go to. So, let me say I didn't have any preconceptions going in. They moved and remodeled their location a few years ago, now that they have settled in, it appears they are busy but have for the most part, got their collective act together. Needed same day service. Called the aforementioned other dealer, was put off by the wait time offered. Wasn't going to be for a month. I don't know why they specify express service, it just means they try to take in the easy stuff so people can get in with their lives. I did. Review time: Drove in, signed off, was told an hour plus. No prob. About an hour plus, the jobs done, my day can proceed. My bill was as expected, no surprises. I check out, I leave. That's it. I had to drive a little farther, got in and out. I was very worried about being pressured into buying a car and the dealership being too focused on the sale - what you typically hear about a dealership. My experience was the complete opposite. The staff member I worked with, Brittany, was very patient as I figured out what type of car I wanted to buy and test drove multiple cars on the lot. Other staff members in the office were also very patient with various questions I had throughout the entire process. The customer service I received was great. I also like that even now I get mail about different events at Bill Rapp to help me better understand my Subaru. I used to like Bill Rapp Subaru. I have purchased three cars here and have had them serviced here. I have been satisfied with the sales and service experience. But things have changed. The service department now seems only concerned with maximum profit, and "customer service" is nonexistent. I recently brought in my Subaru with 79,000 miles for new head gaskets (which is a well-documented Subaru problem), new timing belt, water pump, and other engine service that I thought would save me money to have done all at the same time. Not the case. I also had some minor worn-out parts replaced. This cost me $5000 and the car was in the shop for THREE weeks. I knew this would be a costly service but the total was far more than what I believe to be equitable to the work done, and 3 weeks seems like an inordinate amount of time to do this job. I think that a courtesy call from the shop with a progress update would have been a nice touch during the 3 weeks my vehicle was there, but that didn't happen. When my car was ready I paid the exorbitant bill without complaint, and drove it home. I inspected it and discovered the shop forgot to reinstall a part on my car. So the following day I had to drive back to the shop at my personal time and expense to have the part put back on. The service department made no offer or effort to compensate for their mistake. In fact I felt like they couldn't wait to get rid of me. That was the last straw. I may never set foot in this dealership again to shop for a new vehicle or to have service done. I have been a faithful customer but now I see that doesn't seem to matter--all that matters is maximum profit. UPDATE: I have no complaints about the work done, but the cost and shop time I feel was over the top, the customer service condescending, and the thin apology doesn't compensate me for the additional time and expense to come back to the shop second time to have a part reinstalled. I trusted my Subaru to the Subaru shop I've used in the past, maybe I need to go to a different one in the future.. read more

Was unsure and uneasy about this situation/cost so I took my vehicle elsewhere to be looked at and did not need a new transmission in the slightest, so glad I didn't get work done at Bill Rapp or would have been completely scammed. I purchased my 2013 Outback from Bill Rapp new. Took it in for my "free" NYS Inspection. After some 30 minutes seeing my driver's rear tire off the car, I was told by the service rep. that the "outer brake pad was worn right down to bare metal". Thus the car "failed" inspection but would pass if I spent $410 + tax for new rear rotors and pads. Had them put the brake and wheel all back together and left. Two days later, my normal service station (very reputable) did a re-NYS Inspection and while declaring the pad well worn, it was not worn to the metal and was in legal inspection limits. They issued a new Oct. 2020 NYS Inspection Sticker. Discounting the wasted time spent, I figure Bill Rapp now owes me the $21 spent for the re-inspection cost. So, if you want a faulty diagnosis and unneeded immediate repairs at high cost, utilize Bill Rapp Subaru Service. If not, save your money and go elsewhere for diagnosis and repair WHEN needed. Oh, I've owned a new 2020 Outback Premium for a week now which WAS NOT purchased from Rapp. I highly recommend also getting pricing for new Subaru's from dealers from Maryland and further south. It's worth the call and drive. You'll be pleasantly surprised on pricing. read more

My salesperson, Dorian Orellano, was very helpful in finding the right vehicle in their inventory to suit my needs and desired features. I felt he genuinely cared about getting me into the right car. The price negotiations were pleasant and low-key, and in the end I was happy with the price I paid, as well as what they gave me for me trade. A day later, after the sale, Dorian continued to be helpful, by assisting me in understanding certain features and controls with which I was having trouble. I feel he really went out of his way in that regard. Lastly, I'm very pleased with my 2017 Forester. It's great looking, handles well, is comfortable, and I feel safe driving it. Recall work was completed, no problem. We had a leak in a transmission cooling line and their price was exorbitant. We had the same work they quoted done by a local mechanic for $480 less. On top of that they stated that a belt was squealing. It was just wet. Their staff can smile all they want. It still doesn't make it right. read more

We were mislead by there shady salesman and their internal management do not back there sales either, after being given written terms. After 40 minutes, was told work is done and charged $20. Was told to drive vehicle for 50 miles and if light still on to bring vehicle back. We leased our first Subaru, and the experience was excellent. Brian (the salesman) is fantastic. However, we've had issues with service off and on. Today I arrived at the appointed hour for 30 month/30,000 mile service. I made the appointment online about 3 weeks ago. I was told today that there was no appointment for me in the system. This is at least the second time this has happened. Another woman checking in told me that she's had the same problem. They could not guarantee the car would be ready by the end of the day and I don't have another vehicle to use. I rescheduled and left. They are pretty much polite, but accommodating - no way. The issue was made to be my fault - do you have an e-mail confirmation? I didn't assume I'd need to bring one (I clean out my email folders periodically and couldn't locate the confirmation I'd received). Moral of the story - do not schedule appointments online at this dealer. And get everything in writing. read more

So went with my mother today to look at a Subaru and trade in her Buick. Now before she even left the house she had two pre approvals. When we got their the salesman start going on about a used 2017 rental car they have had since December. My mother didn't want that car and when we got back in the building, instead of showing us another car he was doing paperwork on this rental car thing. Then started asking her about her credit score and talking about his banks and rates, mind you she already had the bank she wanted to go through and the pre approval with her. He wouldn't listen to anything we said and didn't seem to care about the pre approvals so we left. Mind you we drove for 2.5 hrs to come down to look at the Subaru's. Watch out, this business looks awesome on the outside, but runs a very shady business on the inside! I brought in my 2015 WRX with the intention of trading it in for a WRX STI. After inspecting my car and running the CarfaX, I was told by Brian Milback (their salesmen) that my CarfaX report shows that it was in an accident (which it wasn't). So I said, "Oh really, can you print out the CarfaX and show me this?" After about 5 minutes he came back and said sorry I misspoke I was wrong, your CarfaX shows no sign of being in an accident. He then proceeded to tell me that he stands by his team at Bill Rapp Subaru and won't offer me any higher of a trade in value... I told him that I refuse to do business with anyone who lies, and stormed out. Although I was extremely mad about the whole situation, it was really satisfying to see Brian run out the door yelling... WAIT, I'm SORRY!....
