The food was very good honestly, went during happy hour and got a dozen oysters, good stuff. I also got the chicken caprese sandwich which was fireee. I can't wait to come back again. It wasn't super crowded, we ate on the patio which was nice. We were the only ones on the patio and randomly our server came up to us 40 times towards the end of the meal, definitely gave us the vibes he wanted us to leave but they weren't at all near closing time. That was the only funny thing but good food and not crazy overpriced.

Cute place, has the Bar side and table side and even outdoor seating when it's nice. Staff were extra friendly and welcoming. Lots of great choices on the menu. Food came out fast and was amazing. We tried a little of everything and it all was soo good. Prices were better than most places plus the food was great for the price. Happy to try something new definitely will be back to try more stuff.

Five star Dive Bar with best Happy Hour around. Friendly folks and staff but it's all about the raw bar and chowder and lobster!!

I stopped at bryac during my errand running for a quick bite. I saw an amazingly priced lobster roll and had to try it immediately. Overall, their food was good, portions were not too large and I felt satisfied. Service was good, although it seemed there was only one person working and it seemed that she was working double time as a result. The ambiance was your typical pub so if you are looking for something fancy, don't expect to go in a suit and tie haha!

My fault for not fully reading a menu but I got the coconut shrimp and while it wasn't horrible it wasn't actually coconut shrimp. The shrimp itself wasn't seasoned, it was in a sauce but the rice was coconut. Kind of false advertising if you ask me but again, I didn't read the menu since when you see the words "coconut shrimp" you would assume it's a fried coconut crusted shrimp which it wasn't

Very mixed feelings about this place. It had really great reviews, and some of the reviews are justified. One thing I wish I read more is about the lack of a waitlist. It's not first come first serve. It's whoever gets a table gets served. I've never experienced a restaurant where customers had to wait behind tables or seats after other customers. It's like I'm competing for a particular seat with every other particular customer and it all depends on how quickly the people before me eat. If another table opens up, it may not be mine because I wasn't waiting for that table. I feel like it would be relatively easy to set up even an self check-in system to create a waitlist and ease the mind of a lot of customers. Either way, food was good, but this place is understaffed. I was waiting for a table for 45 minutes, and I talked with people waiting on their checks for 30 min or their food for even longer (if it's not raw). Affordable oysters, huge clams and good toasted food too, but again, it sounds like there are only 1 or 2 people in the kitchen because the raw and cooked food came close to 45 min apart. There's either 1 or 0 bartender at the bar, so getting drinks is also very challenging. I feel for a restaurant that's understaffed, but this dining experience could have been much better.

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally got there today. The menu was filled with choices I wanted so I guess that means I will have to go back! I absolutely loved their award winning New England clam chowder. It was creamy and chock full of fresh clams. Another crowd favorite was the unique choice- fried avocado. I didn't expect it to be as fantastic as it was. I was intrigued by the Lobster Pasta dish- although I wish I would have ordered something lighter since I was already full with the apps, it was amazing. Thankfully I took half home. It had tons of lobster in a sherry cream sauce with rotini. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. Strange choice in my opinion (for a seafood spot) but he liked it. Next time I will be ordering the lobster roll. I saw it come out to another table and it looked insanely good. Check out @datenightcraves on Instagram for more foodie tips !

Read the reviews here on YELP while looking for a restaurant in the area. I liked what the reviews told me and the menu looked perfect. When we arrived we opted to sit inside. I ordered the Lobster Bisque first and when it came out it tasted as good as it looked with nice chunks of lobster. For lunch my Mom ordered the Shrimp Scampi and she said it was very good. I ordered the Lobster Rockefeller. )oOusters Rockefeller with chunks of Lobster On top. I enjoyed every bite. . My mom looked at me and said that she wants to come back. I knew we hit the jackpot.

Been looking for a good happy hour since most have disappeared because of COVID. $1 oysters and $0.75 clams from 3-6pm. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the ambiance. There were about 25 people in the restaurant, retired ladies in the front window enjoying martinis, two men that just finished work at their landscaping company enjoying their meal, young professionals enjoying happy hour at the bar, and other folks eating in the dining room. We loved that there were so many different people. We watched as their orders came out. The burger and steak looked good, but next time I will get the beef tips! This time we got the lobster roll which was out of this world! There were two gals working and running the entire place. They were attentive and kind to us. We will def be back!

I came here for their $1 happy hour oysters because I was craving them!! I was not disappointed with them either. Tasted delicious and fresh. Although the margarita that I ordered was weird. It had no tequila flavor and tasted as if it was just some simple syrup with no alcohol maybe they used a little rum or vodka but couldn't tell. I definitely would have tasted tequila if there were any in it. I would come back for oysters and maybe something on draft or can but not sure if I would order another mixed drink. I also ordered the kiwi margarita first from the menu and they said they didn't have that so I did jalepeno. ‍

Located in Black Rock, the food was great we enjoyed Lobster Monica, Chicken piccata and flaming ice cream. The service was friendly but quite slow (maybe short staffed). A casual vibe. Parking is tricky in black rock, but we found a spot on the street. We will be back.

Ask the Community - Bryac Black Rock

    Is this restaurant open year-round?

yes Bryac is open year round

Is there a wait list here? I was told it was first come first serve, but it seems like I'm fighting with other potential customers for an open table.

There is no waitlist or reservations. A night with a live band or bustling weekends would be your only challenge. Weekdays are calm with seats at tables and the bar open for walk-ins!

Ah, good ol' Black Rock (heaven forbid you call it 'Bridgeport!'), CT. There was a time (in my…read moretwenties) when I was a regular out in Black Rock, frequenting such long gone places like The Black Rock Castle, The Field, The Bitter End, Black Rock and Blue, etc. Then something happened. I would say that I grew up, but I know many who would disagree with that statement. So let's just say that I got older. You see, the Black Rock nightlife scene is wonderful if you're twentysomething looking for a casual night out somewhere where you can dress like a vagabond, stumble in and out of bars that are adjacent to one another, and get plastered without having to spend a whole lot of money. Now I don't mean to sound all high and mighty and above all of that, it's just that I can no longer pass for 26 (despite my best efforts), and out in Black Rock on a Friday night I can't help but feel like an overdressed square peg in a round hole. And if you're not a twentysomething in Black Rock, then you're probably an artist, an aging hippie of some sort, or a lifelong Black Rock native, the kind whose blood boils when their beloved coastal community is referred to as 'Bridgeport.' Artists, hippies, natives...they're all good people, it's just that I would stick out like a sore thumb around them. So aside from the killer pizza at Fire Engine Pizza Co. and the savory bites at Hub and Spoke, I avoid Black Rock. But having heard so much about Tautog Tavern over the last year or so, I decided to try to put aside my Black Rock hangups and show a good buddy of mine a fun time over a drink or two. Walking into Tautog Tavern last night with a bit of a narrow mind in regard to the surrounding area, I wasn't expecting much. In fact, my first impression was, 'Yep...typical dark and dingy Black Rock dive bar.' At each end of the bar were two seemingly lonely middle-aged men, nursing a beer (the twentysomethings were probably still at work or at the gym), while some Led Zeppelin blared. I was convinced I had made the wrong choice for happy hour. Fortunately, my mind was quickly changed. We were greeted by the bartender, who was pleasant and kind. I can't recall her name (I think it was Kerry?), but in talking with her, we quickly learned that she is well-cultured and well-traveled. Unlike most female bartenders who try desperately to be flirty or call their male patrons 'doll' or 'sweetie' in hopes of getting a better tip, Kerry was mellow and seemed to be a genuine conversationalist. I was also quite appreciative of her recommending I order the well vodka (and letting me sample it first) as it was nearly half the price of my usual Stolichnaya. A bartender doing the opposite of the upsell? Unheard of! I was impressed. I was also impressed that the drink was strong. My buddy and I took a quick look at the happy hour bar bites menu and ordered both the Pimento Cheese Fries and the wings, which were served in Sweet Thai Chili Sauce. Both were excellent, and the portions were hearty. The latter was a refreshing summer change to the usual greasy and sticky buffalo wings. The price was right, too. As I've always felt that drinking and music go hand and hand, I'm quite fond of any bar that has a TouchTunes digital jukebox, which allows you to program and pay for your music using your smartphone. Not many bars that I frequent in this area have this, but Tautog does, and I was delighted to be able to put together a setlist of music that I enjoy drinking to. When the setlist ended, the bartender asked what else we might like to hear. I suggested some Steely Dan, and she loaded up TouchTunes with a seemingly endless string of their hits and deep cuts. The bottom line is this- the overall vibe at Tautog Tavern is a good one, making an outsider like me feel very welcome. People were mellow, and there was even the most docile and beautiful German Shepherd hanging out in the place. And while it's highly unlikely that you'll find me cutting the rug there on a Saturday night alongside some unkempt millennials who are slugging down PBR while some jam-band plays (apparently the Tautog Tavern is a Black Rock hub for live music on the weekends), I will most definitely be back there sooner rather than later for happy hour. Hell, I may even stay for dinner as the menu looks quite good and the service was top-notch.

They could have easily fit another 3 stools at the bar; people were actually standing in the places stools could have gone. The place felt like an old neighborhood bar where guys went after work for a beer before heading home. Everyone seemed to know each other. Besides the bar scene it was empty. I walked to the bar and asked for menus and a few beers. We had to go to the bar each time to order. We got the buffalo wings and Sikorsky sliders. Food took a while but it was worth it. The wings were breaded so they had a nice crunch to them. The sliders were great - grilled chicken, bacon, sharp cheddar and cracked pepper mayo. The food was really good, I always appreciate a breaded wing. The beer and wings were supposed to be on happy hour at $5 each as noted on the menu. When we got the bill we were charged full price for everything. We asked the bartender why they weren't discounted and he explained that they weren't on HH. We asked him to look at the menu and he said he would honor the prices but the menus were wrong...? I wonder how many times people were charged full price for these items before and didn't take the time to look at the bill. I don't know if that's a normal practice in this place but its a shame because I definitely will not be going back.

The prices were on par for similar establishments - which is a little high across the board in this state, but that's just how it is. There is really only one problem here, and it's the seating. While the wrought iron chairs may have been an aesthetic decision that match the rustic design, they are really, REALLY uncomfortable! We were fortunate enough to have chairs that had a cushion on them (which most of them didn't appear to have), but even with the cushions, sitting in those chairs for only a short time was uncomfortable. Gotta say we would have stayed a lot longer and ordered several more rounds of drinks, but our backs and butts just couldn't take another second on those hard metal chairs. Ultimately, I'd give this place 4, probably even 5 stars if new comfortable chairs were added. Hopefully management will take this suggestion into consideration in the future.
