But - their customer service and attention to detail is what sets them apart. We've used them for over 6 years with various cars. They are honest, kind, and have done a great job keeping our vehicles in good condition. Side story - I accidentally pushed the wrong button for the child lock on our car. I will NEVER go anywhere else. Got a quote for $3900 worth of work that a chain auto repair shop said I needed. Got a second opinion here and 2 days later and only $295 paid, I had a perfectly running car. They may not be able to get the work completed the same day but the service and lack of bs is absolutely worth catching a ride with someone for a few days or renting a car if you are able to. Do not go to Bills Half Price!!! They will leave your car in disarray!!!! They left my car in parts. Had it for almost 2 weeks. Said they were done with my vehicle, because they couldn't find a problem. When my car was taking to the dealership, they left the spak plugs exposed, throttle body disconnected, and all the bolts and nuts in the crease of my windshield. When I tried to talk to the manager Keith, he said it wasn't a big deal, nothing would have happened. When I asked to talk to the owner, he said I had to go through him, that I'm not going to talk to the owner. Even after I showed him the video he shrugged his shoulders. She called triple A the same day and once triple A got there my car had already been gone! I went here soon after buying a used car just to get a couple things checked out - "Bill" spent the entire time I was there trying to convince me that I got ripped off and that my car was a piece of junk. They then quoted me over $1000 for a single repair which, as it turned out, wasn't even necessary for the vehicle. These guys even charge you labor for an oil change, and "half-price" is a joke. They also charge as much or more for parts than any other shop I've ever been to in Texas. I would never go here again. A year later I'm still driving the same car which needed a single repair costing $150 in all that time, after buying it for around $800 less than it was worth. read more

I had an exhaust leak on my vehicle. He said that they could fix it. It was just a gasket. I dropped it off on a Monday. It was not done Monday. I came back Tuesday. He said it was the pipe problem and he couldn't fix that so I left it there for a day and a half for nothing. No phone calls to give me any updates. They were very friendly and personable, and seem to know what they were doing but apparently could not get their work accomplished in a reasonable timeframe or give me any updates. read more

First thing first. It is not HALF PRICE, it is "Bills DOUBLE PRICE Auto repair". I took my car there with check engine light on and they said it will cost $841.02(parts $153.37, Labor $675.00) dollars to fix it. I said ok. After driving 30 miles, check engine light came back and took there again. They said some craps need to be repair and I will cost $725.47. (Parts 439.23 Labor 250.00) I have no option and go ahead with that repair. And after driving 17 miles, the check engine light came back again. This time they said some other crap need to be replace and it will cost $1200.00. I said forget about it, I'm taking my car somewhere else. I think they do nothing other than reset the error. I will never go there and recommend not to go there even by mistake. read more

I normally don't leave bad reviews but they were so rude. I got my car inspected and had one thing that needed to be fixed- window tint- they said I could come back within 15 days for a free re-inspection. I came in and they said it would be 2 hours and I told them It should be a quick one since it's just the tint. He responded "how do you know are you an inspector?" Wow I wasn't prepared for that just making them aware. They told me to come back after their lunch break and I showed back up for them to tell me another 2 hour wait... again rude. Took my 2005 Ford Focus in for repair on Wednesday. Loud roaring sound, generally wobbly drive and rough idle at stop. I thought it might be a wheel bearing. Got the verdict - bad wheel bearing, bent motor mount, leaking valve cover. Was given a quote and it was very reasonable. Picked up the car yesterday - very smooth ride, no roaring noise and smooth idle at stop. This place is a bit of a drive for me, but it is worth it. I prefer to patronize a small business and keep local folks employed. There is a bit of construction on roads in the area but access to the business was not difficult. I am very pleased with the estimate, the final cost and the work that was done on my older car. I can't afford a new car and with the reasonable price I can keep my car a few years longer. Used Bill's for the first time today. I found them using a google search for auto repair shops near me. After I read all the positive reviews I contacted them to find out if they could fix my 2001 VW Passat's broken glove box. It wasn't closing and just stayed open all the time. I purchased a complete replacement off eBay which they eventually used to replace the broken one. I was quoted $40, I brought my car in on a Monday around 1030am got a call around 330pm telling me it was ready. I was very pleased with the whole experience. I took my car in because it was making a funny noise and was handling funny when I first started driving and then turned quickly in cold weather. With that little to go on, the guys at Bill's were able to find what they believed to be the problem. Unlike most shops, though, when they called, they didn't promise they had absolutely found the issue. Because they couldn't replicate the sound, they told me of the issue they found (leak in power steering line) and told me it would possibly fix the problem. Because you do need power steering to drive an Escalade, I needed to have the repair done. Not only did the sound stop, but the price was significantly below - to the tune of $400 dollars below - the quote from the dealership to simply flush the power steering, and the part came with a warranty. These guys don't try to sell you a bunch of repairs you don't need, they are always honest with what you do need, and their prices are AMAZING! They are quick, courteous, and always spot on with service. You will not find a better place to take your car than Bill's Half-Price Auto. I drive for a living, and there is nowhere else I trust to care for my livelihood. read more

I have never been so disappointed and ticked off at the same time - THIS SHOP HAS ALWAYS TAKEN CARE OF ME IN THE PAST - HOWEVER, SINCE SOME EMPLOYEES HAVE LEFT IN THE PAST YEAR - THEY ARE NO LONGER AN HONEST SHOP. I am a single Mom who has been a continued customer over the last decade. After Frank left this company and this location they began running up charges. I took my son's truck in and the gave me and estimate of $3000 - I took my car to Shannon's Performance and they were able to complete the exact same job for $842 - amazing the difference. So, today I took my Yukon to get it inspected - even called before explaining that I had a headlight out - would they be able to change it out, not to worry about it. My son took my car as I needed to work and they charged my credit card $153.51 for an inspection - charging me $100.00 for labor for a 5 min job. I called 3 different shops the most expensive place for the replacement of my headlight was $50 in labor - I called Shannon's Performance - and he said he would have done it for free. There is no GOOD left at Bill's Half Price - only highway robbery every chance they get. This shop went from being the most honest to the most dishonest within a year. I do not recommend this shop to anyone - Makes me sick to my stomach to know they will take advantage of you anyway they can.... Stay away... or enter at your own risk. read more

This is such a great place to get work done. Frank quoted me a price over the phone for a suspension lift, tie rods, total body bushings, etc. When the work was complete, the price was the same as the quote and it was done early. Frank kept me updated on the status the whole time. Plus they definitely exceeded my expectations in the quality of their work. I will go back for all of my auto repair needs. read more

I'm new here from North Carolina. My daughter and I were driving here in her '06 Ford Focus, when the car started making funny noise--near the Alabama/ Mississippi border. After five (of course) and in the middle of nowhere, we realized we needed a garage. We got some help from a bare bones truck garage, where they diagnosed the wheel bearing issue--though they were not equipped to fix it. We drove the rest of the way here, listening to the noise, rather than the radio. We took the car to Bill's, and got an estimate to fix the bad bearings. Then they called the next day to tell us there was a bent knuckle that needed replacing as well. After an estimate of five hundred, (a lot to put into an older car) we agreed to go ahead with the work. More bad news came when they discovered another bent part that meant replacing the whole brake drum and more parts. My daughter had a run in with a curb coming off the interstate a few weeks back, and we'd thought the car was fixed up by the N.C. garage that did the original work. These were things that could have compromised the safety of the car, and they were missed in the first round of repairs. Bill's agreed to do the additional work, but only charge us for the parts. It still amounted to 800 total, but it only took a few days, all told. They kept us informed by phone, and they apologized when they found more work that needed to be done. I'm not a mechanic, and the cynic in me worries about being cheated. But I feel Bill's did the work they promised, and did it right. When I went to pick up the car, the man apologized again, saying that they're not used to cars with rust underneath, and that made it difficult to diagnose the problems. The car was originally from Illinois, which accounts for the rust. After all this, the ABS light in her car is still on, (it was on when we left N.C., and our friend who replaced the brakes said it was a sensor issue.). After the work at Bills, I was assured that they test drove the car, and the ABS works fine--though they said they'd be happy to diagnose the car and check the sensors if I wanted to pay for it. I didn't. Overall, this was not a cheap repair, and I might have been able to get the work done cheaper elsewhere. But I think when it comes to car repairs, you either know a mechanic, or you get what you pay for. I wouldn't want a garage that cut corners, not where my daughter's brakes are concerned. I trust that Bill's did the job right. read more

I took in my vehicle for a diagnostic, and this shop quoted me a price in the thousands. I took the expense to tow the vehicle out to my preferred shop, and they noticed that half of the quoted charges were not needed. Not only that, but they did not even access the undercarriage cover that needs to be removed in order to check the suspension parts they claimed needed work. Despicable! I know other people have had great experiences, but this is my 2¢ to balance out my experience with theirs. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE HANDS DOWN!! This is how it started. My mother's air conditioner quit working in her Ford Fusion. She had a quote from Pep Boys for $850.00, I persuaded her to not use Pep Boys and instead use Bill's Half Price Auto. I dropped the car off on Monday the 17th and told Frank that I would be out of town until Thursday the 20th, but would need the car back on Thursday the 20th. Frank called me with a price adjustment on Tuesday the 18th; the quote went from $670.00 to $900.00. I approved the price increase, but I kind of expected it would be more than $670.00. I arrived back in town on Thursday the 20th and I was informed that the car was not ready. I was assured that the car would be done Friday morning, then it was lunch, then it was 3:30pm and then car will not be done. We took the car anyway, my mom had plans to go out of town and visit her mother. We returned the car back to Bill's on Monday around 9:30 and once again they could not complete the work in a timely manner. Bill's finally completed the AC work on Tuesday the 25th at 3:00 pm. The grand total was $975.68; my mother just wanted her car back. OK it was a hassle, but it is over right. No, my mom gets in the car and notices that there is no gas in the car. I mean no gas, like do we attempt to get to the gas station or go get gas in a gas can. I had to follow her to the gas station, praying that we didn't run out of gas. I called and expressed my dissatisfaction to Frank, but he was too busy making excuses about his shop to hear me out. I am writing this review, because this the only real power I have. I will never take another one of my vehicles back to Bill's Half Price Auto. I hope this review helps you to make a better decision than I did. read more

I will never take my cars any place else for repairs. Bill's Half Price Auto Repair is not only the best in car repairs, they are the most honest. My son just took his 2000 Nissan Xterra in because the brakes were going out. They replaced the front brakes and could have told us the back brakes also needed replacing, but instead they found that the back brakes were just fine. Not many places would have done this. This is not the first time they have worked on this Xterra, and each time they have performed with quality work and a fair price. Thank you Bill's Half Price Auto Repair. I will never go there again! Took my car in and told them I had a broken motor bracket/mount and that i need the rear window fixed and that the motor was good just came detached. After about 3 days they looked at it and told me when I called them that there was nothing the matter with the motor mounts or bracket. However I saw the bracket that was broken my self when I had taken my car to Kwik Kar for an oil change and inspection. Waited another 3 days then called back and am now told that there is a broken bracket and a leaking radiator hose, which they worked on last visit. Told after first three days there is a oil leak that needs to be fixed. $4.80 for a gasket then $62.93 for oil and $4.99 for a new filter both of which i had changed 30 days before at Kwik Kar. Pick up the car and it makes noise. Also being charged for 2 motor mounds that I was told I did not need. Called the manager and all he can say is "Talk to me like an adult" making excuses that he was out sick part of the time. Then he says he can take of the oil that was not needed but not the filter that was not needed. Nothing about this place is half price. lol Never going back and hope you don't either.. read more

I was driving from Austin to Chicago and one wheel started making a terrible racket on I-35. I literally looked for the closest repair shop to the exit we took off I-35W. Bill's was it. We drove up expecting to spend a long, expensive time there - we were, after all, travelers from afar in dire need. They moved us to the head of the line, found some rusted metal (very old car) inside the wheel, removed it and had us ready to go in 20 minutes! Best part, they wouldn't charge us anything!
