We turned up here with a used Honda Fit we were thinking about buying from the dealer around the corner, just to make sure everything was on the up and up. I always get cars checked by a mechanic before I buy, and it's a good thing, too: Oscar here got it up on the hoist and immediately identified frame damage and a nasty transmission leak that I couldn't see without getting up under the car. It was pretty clear there was an accident that hadn't been reported on the Carfax and that the dealership hadn't bothered to disclose because they were hoping to unload it on someone. Oscar was angry on our behalf about it, too, and he even gave us a discount on their usual assessment fee for a new car because, as he said, "you took a loss on the car before we even bought it!" Do not take your vehicle to this place. They charge you for new parts that they get from a salvage yard. They also return the vehicle, charge you and then you realize it was not fixed. Picked up my truck and all the dash lights came on. Took it back right away and they said the part put in was the wrong part number and they would try and get another one. Mechanic said they got it from the dealership but then the lady in the office said they were trying to find the correct part through a salvage yard. Said they paid over 300 for the part but didn't charge me that much...Really. I called several savage yards and the part only cost what I was charged - i went back int he office and was treated badly for caring that my vehicle was still not fixed but I had already paid more than I was quoted. The lady asked me to leave with NO solution -- Do Not Trust anything they tell you!! read more

My daughter's car was stranded in a parking lot 5 miles away. Diego got his crew to tow it for $120 and diagnose it for $100 within a few hours. The engine seized up and he helped us find recalls that might assist in getting it covered/replaced with the dealer. He then got it towed to the dealer the next morning. Nothing worse than being out of town and having your car break. Even worse when it's the driver's side window and you cannot even leave it or park it outside, literally leaving me stranded without working transportation. I called Midcities Auto after a Google search, and they said to bring it over. I arrived at 12:30 pm and was met by Diego and his crew. They asked me to leave it and they would check it out - I told them it had to be repaired regardless of time or cost. Amazingly, 5 hours later they called me to tell me it would be repaired in another hour by 6:30 pm. I'm thinking to myself, "who works that late these days?" In less than 6 hours, Diego and his crew diagnosed the problem, found the parts, and repaired it at an amazingly reasonable cost. Midcities services made my auto repair experience easy and stress free. Juan, the owner, kept constant communication with me about the services I required while I waited to have my disabled car towed to their location. They have providers for towing but I used my insurance instead. Upon arriving, I spoke with the manager, Mike, and he got me and my car all set for repairing. Since it was going to take a while, I was arranging for a ride home and before I knew it they had a complimentary rental waiting and running outside! Juan continued to keep in touch about the diagnosis and status on my car, sending pictures and updates, until it was complete. Overall, staff were empathetic, helpful, and knowledgeable. My car was turning over but not wanting to start so I had my vehicle towed in to have it diagnosed. I was told later that day that it was the fuel pump had gone bad. The fuel pump had been replaced back in June 11 2018, so it was still under warranty from the manufacturer. I let them know that I would be providing the replacement fuel pump that they would be putting in for me. I declined the other things that the said that I needed for the car. I also informed them that I would be needing the bad fuel pump back so that I could turn it back in for the warranty replacement and so the did just that. The next morning I went to pick up my car and I was shocked to see that for putting in the fuel pump I was charged $237.77 plus a 49.50 diagnostic fee plus a hazardous waste disposal fee when I took the pump with me so they didn't need to dispose of anything. The job should've only taken 15 minutes to replace the fuel pump so it blows my mind that a job that simple would cost so much. Well I will chuck it up to a learning experience. read more

They were honest, courteous & they saved me a few hundred dollars when they told me I didn't need a new part (that I went in there saying I needed), it just needed a little tightening up & problem solved... my check engine light went off! They could easily have gone w/my initial diagnosis & made a fee bucks off me but they did the un-heard-of, they did the right thing! Best auto shop around! The check engine light was on in my GMC Acadia. Come to find out, the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. They picked my car up from work and left me a loaner. Juan kept me in the loop and my car was ready a few hours later. Fast forward about a month, the check engine light comes on again. I call Juan and he sends someone to pick up my vehicle from work. He calls and lets me know the catalytic converter was bad and he would be replacing it at no charge. I have always had repair shops over charge, not take responsibility for mistakes or do a poor job. We have been going here for many years and have never been disappointed. Very affordable and quick! Most times they have a loaner car to help out while they have your car. They are not in the business of fixing what's not broken if you know what I mean. If you have several things need done but cant afford it all at one time, Juan will explain to you what's priorty and what will be less expensive. For example you may need 4 things done. But if it 2 of them can be done at same time for 1 labor charge because it's in the same area he will explain that to you. That alone has helped us many times when we have had to have work done over a period of time. Don't be fooled by what the place looks like. It's small, office may appear to be unorganized but I'm sure there is a method to Juans madness,, but it's a garage and these guys are honest. I was introduced to Midcities several years ago when I bought a used Toyota for my daughter. The couple that sold it to us said they had been using Midcities for several years and were very pleased with their work. I decided to take our Chevy Trailblazer to them to have them look at an A/C problem. I was so happy with their service I started taking all of our cars to them. Over the last several years they have done everything from replace a transmission, fix an A/C, and even provide body work. I can only think of one time that I had trouble with a part they replaced - even though the part was brand new - and they replaced it immediately at no charge. They even repaired a Chevy Pickup that was totaled by the Insurance company for less then the amount the Insurance company gave us to replace the truck. I highly recommend Midcities for any and all auto and truck service. They are not always the cheapest in town but they are certainly not the most expensive. read more
